So I was hoping to get another Chapter done sooner but other things came up so I haven't gotten around to this story till now. I really wanna wrap this up and focus on my other story. After all I plan for 2 more Chapters and an Epilogue, but I'm not sure how my pacing's gonna go in these next two or so chapters. Well, I'd really like it to just be 2 Chapters but I can't guarantee it.
I think I'll just end up making the next Chapter really long so that the last Chapter is Chapter 30, and the Chapter after that isn't a Chapter but an Epilogue. So I'll extend this Chapter a little too from what I usually do (4 pages and a bit) to about five and a half pages) by a page. Hopefully I still don't drag it out as much ^^;
Anyways, enjoy Chapter 29 of Forgetful Love! ^^
DP (C) Butch Hartman
Danny was on his way to drop Sam off at the hospital for her 5th month appointment, meanwhile he was going to go house shopping and catch his shift early to get more money. Sam had rocked up at his house earlier that morning just so she could spend some time with him before she went off to her appointment with her parents for the first time.
After about ten minutes of driving down that same street that haunted the two of them forever, they arrived at the hospital.
"So should I just park out front or...?" Danny asked, wanting Sam not to walk very far.
"I'll be fine Danny; my parents should be here real soon. Just go around and see what there is, this is just another check up. It's just that this time my parents will be with me. Hopefully they don't ask too many questions..." Sam said, assuring Danny she'd be fine, also feeling worried in the end about her parents.
Danny smiled in reply, parking the car. "Okay, love you Sam." He said, approaching for a small kiss.
Sam accepted the kiss before taking her handbag and heading out. "Love you too. See you later." She called out as she shut the car door.
Danny sighed; taking a look at Sam from behind, thinking that in the next few months there will be two little children crawling over the floor, and possibly the walls. Danny stopped there, every time he thought about the kids having ghost powers it made his heart sink into a pit of insane anxiety.
So he drove off, with worry robbing his thoughts as he passed down several streets, staring blankly at houses for sale. He looked at the time; he still had another hour before he really had to be at work, so he decided to clear his mind by going to Nasty Burger for lunch before going back on the road to look at more houses before finally going to work.
It was about five minutes later that Pamela and Jeremy had arrived; they approached the entrance and already saw Sam talking to the front desk about her appointment. Then Sam was about to head further inwards before she turned her head for a quick moment to see her parents waving to her.
"Sorry we're late, we took a wrong turn but now we're here." Pamela assured her, approaching Sam.
She embraced her parents warmly, things had been looking up since Jazz explained to everyone exactly what was going on, however the rug wasn't fully washed clean. There were still some hiccups that made at least one of the parents from either side glare and feel the rush of negativity towards everything that was going on.
"So, where is the appointment at?" Jeremy asked, looking around the room.
"Upstairs, on the second floor. My doctor's already waiting for me." Sam answered, pointing towards the stairs.
Jeremy looked at the stairs with concern and then moved his eyes to Sam's growing stomach. She was at five months and with twins, he grew extremely suspicious and worried that the stairs may not be the safest way to go.
"Sam, let's take the lift." He implied, pointing and heading over towards the lift.
Sam rolled her eyes; he was beginning to remind her of Danny. It made her feel weird yet glad. She was happy that her parents were more careful about her pregnancy but felt like they were becoming more like Danny's family.
The ride up the lift was silent, but once they reached the second floor, Pamela walked further ahead to get to the receptionist and ask where Sam's doctor was. The receptionist grew suspicious of who this woman was but then realised that this was Sam's mother. So she responded by telling her that Sam's doctor's room was down the hall on the right three doors down.
Pamela thanked the receptionist before waiting for Sam and Jeremy to arrive. Sam could see that her mother looked confident in knowing exactly where to go; it made her feel uneasy that she was in such a hurry to see her doctor.
As they walked down towards the doctor's room, Sam looked at her mother giving a confused yet slightly embarrassed face.
"Um, mom...you know you could've just waited for me."
"I know but I wanted to make sure you hadn't forgotten." Pamela replied, keeping her eyes on the doors to her left and right.
This made Sam groan, her mother still thought she was prone to amnesia. It made her feel annoyed and she hated it every time she had to remind her that she had remembered everything and was now okay, her arm was only sore on the inside from time to time but she didn't have to wear a cast anymore.
Jeremy stepped ahead of Pamela, seeing that she was approaching the room, he knocked on the door and not a moment later a woman in her late twenties opened the door and grew stunned when she saw Pamela and Jeremy with Sam.
"Oh, hello there I'm doctor Maddingly, a pleasure to finally meet you." She greeted, shaking Jeremy's hand as Pamela and Sam followed in.
Sam placed herself on the bed like she always did while Pamela introduced herself to the doctor.
"Hello, I'm Pamela and this is my husband Jeremy and we're the expecting maternal grandparents." Pamela greeted with a pleasant and a handshake but with a firm smile, irritating Jeremy a little that he didn't have a moment to introduce himself.
Jeremy sat down at the desk where two padded chairs were and a desk with a new computer monitor and some closed files; he looked briefly and saw that they were Sam's files. Not long later Pamela sat down with him and saw the files too, but turned to the doctor who had already begun to ask questions to Sam about her past couple of weeks as she set up the ultrasound equipment.
"So Sam, could you tell me what week you're currently in?" She asked to Sam.
"I'm in my 19th week." Sam replied, biting her lower lip.
"Good and how has your back been feeling? Any aching pain? Have you been feeling any movement yet?"
Sam looked down, remembering that she had been waking up for the past week with constant back pain as well as indigestion, making it really difficult for her to eat. "Well yeah, but I'm finding it very hard to eat because of my indigestion...and as for movement...I haven't really felt anything yet." She answered, rubbing her very pregnant belly.
The doctor replied with a surprised sounding short hum as she finished setting up the equipment. "Okay, now for this appointment we're going to check the proportions of both the babies." She explained as she grabbed the probe and the gel as well as some sanitary gloves.
Pamela and Jeremy looked at each other, feeling a strong connection as to what was happening with Sam and the doctor. They both knew that they were just like this when Pamela was pregnant with Sam. It was amazing yet shocking to see their own daughter on the bed having yet another ultrasound.
"Mr and Mrs Manson, you're welcome to sit closer to see the monitor clearer." She assured the two, gesturing for them to come closer.
As Pamela and Jeremy moved closer, the doctor finished putting on her gloves and began to rub the blue coloured gel onto Sam's abdomen.
A few minutes later, Pamela and Jeremy could see the two miracles that Danny and Sam had created together. It was a breathtaking moment that made the two of them give the exact same expression as Danny did when he saw for the first time.
"Alright, everything seems to look normal for them. Oh, there's a little bit of movement just there." She exclaimed, pointing towards a certain spot on the monitor with her other hand.
"Where?" Sam asked, lifting her head up even further to see the monitor better. "I didn't feel anything though..." She stated, feeling confused.
Pamela was in awe, she could help but give an adorable sigh as she thought about them moving around and looking alive. Jeremy was still speechless and didn't know what to say. After a few small tears of happiness from her mother, Pamela kissed Sam's forehead and congratulated her.
"You're doing an amazing job. I know you'll make a great mother." She assured her, wiping away her tears with a tissue.
This made Sam feel emotional too; it made her feel so happy that her parents were okay with the entire pregnancy, and somehow in a way the old her felt that this was completely wrong. Her old self would never have imagined her parents being happy about something as much as this.
It wasn't long later that Sam was cleaned up and now sitting up straight but feeling the aching pain in her back returning. She saw her doctor clean everything up and wash her hands before returning to her desk to update Sam's online data.
"Everything is looking all good for Miss Manson; her next appointment is December 18th." She implied before typing more information again.
"That's a week before Christmas." Jeremy stated.
"Well, that is when Sam is midway through her 6th month and in weeks she would be into her 23rd week." She explained, looking over at Sam with a smile.
Further information about the next appointment was given to Sam and her parents before they left for the day and thanking the doctor. As they all drove home Pamela thought deeply about that experience, so did Sam and Jeremy. It was strange but at the same time it felt normal.
"That was...I'm not sure actually." Jeremy stuttered, not knowing how to phrase the experience.
"Well it was weird at first but after a while it just felt normal." Sam stated, feeling surprised and tingly inside.
"Exactly." Pamela stated, finally knowing what word to say. "It felt normal and natural." She ended with a smile.
In all the meanwhile Danny had looked for houses and saw a few potential places that could fit what he and Sam were looking for, he jotted down some notes and had gone to work ten minutes early. Unfortunately he wasn't going to be given any extra as it was only ten minutes. If he had arrived more than half an hour early he would've gotten an extra twenty dollars or thirty if he had shown up an hour early.
Later that evening, Danny had come home from work and showed his parents the potential houses that he and Sam could purchase. However Maddie and Jack insisted that they pay for some of the house as they were already working hard on preparing themselves to become parents.
"I know mom but I want to take this on full responsibility." Danny insisted.
"Now Danny we understand but we think that you should pay more attention to Sam than to all of this." Maddie assured Danny, wanting him to worry less.
"Your mother and I can talk with the Manson's about housing. Hopefully you'll have a house before the twins arrive." Jack explained, resting his hand on Danny's shoulder in assurance.
Danny sighed; he was already feeling stressed out as it was. He had so many things to worry about, including Sam's due date, not so much his birthday but the fact that Sam was due on his birthday, moving houses, his job, still some unresolved issues with the Manson's and the Fenton's, if he and Sam should get married, the possible ghost powers of the twins, thinking of names for the kids and most all: becoming a father.
He collapsed onto the couch with a deep sigh, realising how much responsibility he was taking on. He wanted to do all that he could for Sam so that all she would have to do is give birth and he would take care of everything else.
"I envy how you care so much for Sam and respect that she is dealing with enough as it is." Maddie admired, wishing that Jack had done the same for her but he was too caught up in other things. "But you're just pushing yourself too much. I insist that we, as future grandparents take care about all the housing and financial issues that come with it. All you and Sam have to do is figure out which one of these possible choices is the one."
After a moment of thought, Danny sat up and looked at his mother with deep worry, but then a small smile of gratitude.
"Thanks mom." He thanked with a warm felt hug.
Maddie embraced in the hug and was glad that she was taking some stress off of Danny's shoulders. She wanted to do all that she could too to help Danny and Sam be ready. Unfortunately most of the problems Danny worried about he couldn't tell anyone except for his sister and Tucker and Sam.
Ghost powers had been haunting his dreams every since he knew about him being the father of the twins. He had constant nightmares about how dangerous the ghost powers could make the kids, or how their parents would find out and then the Manson's would never let Sam see Danny ever again. It made him tremble in fear.
The same feeling of fear came to when he thought about marriage. He wasn't sure whether he should propose to her, he hadn't done much thinking about it but he felt like he should have thought about it more. It was scary, and yet he wasn't sure whether to tell anyone about it, he had only been thinking about for the past two weeks and hadn't told anyone else.
He decided to tell, feeling that his parents might have some solutions to his stress and worry for his marriage situation.
"Um...there's something I need to ask you guys..." Danny said hesitantly, backing away on the couch slightly.
Jack and Maddie sat closer to Danny on the couch, eager and worried as to what Danny had to ask them.
"Dad...how did you...propose to mom?" He asked, showing hesitation as he looked away from his parents.
Jack grew wide eyed and knew exactly what Danny was asking about; Maddie looked at Jack in surprise too, feeling that Danny was taking everything very seriously.
"Oh..." He began to say, almost stunned by what Danny had asked. "Well I just told her how much I loved her and told her that I wasn't crazy." He explained, gazing into Maddie's dreamy eyes as they both reminisced about the moment it happened.
Danny turned, not replying which indicated he wanted more information.
"Your father wanted to surprise me, so the day before he called and said that he had made a major breakthrough with the ghost portal he had been working on since college a few years prior. He told me to dress nicely as he wanted to celebrate his breakthrough. It confused me but I went anyway." Maddie explained, remembering what happened.
"I set up a dinner with an eerie green setting down in the lab where she saw that I didn't make a breakthrough but was on my knee with a ring box in hand." Jack added.
Danny took note of everything they said, but felt weirderd out with how Jack and Maddie got engaged.
"And it was there that he proposed to me. His words to me were that he wasn't crazy and that he loved me more than ghosts and anything else. It was then that I knew he was the one." Maddie ended, gazing into Jack's eyes as they approached for a kiss, completely forgetting that Danny was watching.
Danny fake coughed to break their moment and not see his parents like that as he still felt grossed out about it. He thanked his parents and rushed upstairs to think about everything that his parents just told him.
It was a lot to take in, but had had enough information to think about how and when he could do this. He was going to surprise her when she least expected it, but where the setting seemed romantic enough to keep the moment the way it was.
He stayed up till midnight planning out everything. Danny knew that he would have to buy a ring and with how much he had earned since he acquired his job may be enough as he had earned over one hundred and fifty dollars a week and had not used any of it yet. He had called Tucker a little earlier and told him to meet him at the mall the next day.
As he slept, his subconscious reminded him of another worry that was weighing down his emotions. The ghost powers of his future children.
They were both boys and were doing the ghostly wail so hard on Danny that he was unable to hear anything up until the point in which he had passed out and the kids had possessed his body, scaring Sam.
He was unable to wake up from the terrifying dream, so he continued to have those nightmares until dawn approached.
It was the next day sometime after lunch that The Fenton's had decided to meet up with the Manson's out in the park where they would discuss houses together. The parents also had a few other things on their minds that they wanted to discuss with their children.
Danny and Sam were the first to spot each other, Danny almost ran up to her and squeezed her tightly before pecking her lips, feeling like he needed to see her more often, and so did she.
They all sat down at a nearby bench shaded by a tree, frost was beginning to form on the grass as the temperature began to plummet down into the much cooler and wintery temperatures. Everyone was rugged up by their thick jumpers and coats.
"Okay so, we have heard from Sam that you have looked around for houses, yes?" Jeremy asked, linking his fingers together as he rested his hands on the table.
"Yes, um...mom and dad have the details." He explained, pointing to his parents.
Maddie cleared her throat as she unfolded a paper that was placed in her coat; it contained all the details from the houses that Danny had picked out the day before. She began to read out the details but Pamela insisted that they read them so they can read more closely and understand better what houses Danny had put down.
After a silent minute of Jeremy and Pamela reading the unfolded paper, they looked at each other and nodded before shifting the paper closer to Jack and Maddie.
"So? What do you think?" Sam asked, feeling worried that they wouldn't accept the houses Danny picked out.
Sam hadn't seen what kind of houses Danny had picked out yet but assumed that they were suitable for them and the twins.
"Well, I find two out of five of these houses to be suitable for the kids." Pamela answered, looking down at the paper.
Jeremy turned to Sam, and giving her the paper and pointing to the ones that they had picked from the five that were listed. She read them and felt that her parent's options were good but she wanted to hear from Danny's side of the family before making a final decision.
"How about you guys? Which houses do you find suitable?" Jeremy asked as Sam read more of what Danny had put down.
"I guess we're fonder of the top one." Maddie answered, looking over at Jack with a small smile. "Don't you agree Jack?"
Jack nodded. "Yep, I find that a one storey house like that is definitely ideal. Plus it has an extra room where Danny can stock up on ghost equipment." He exclaimed, sounding excited towards the end.
"Dad..." Danny said, feeling slightly annoyed and embarrassed. "Anyway I find the top one to be the best one too." He added, clearing his throat.
"It was one of our choices so we're happy to help pay the finances if that's what you two want to go with?" Pamela implied, looking over to Jeremy with a happy smile.
They all looked at Sam who hadn't made a decision yet. Then with a small shrug, Sam agreed that they would purchase the first house Danny had listed.
It was a one storey house fitted with three bedrooms, a joined kitchen and living room, along with a basement and a small backyard as well as two bathrooms. Danny and Sam were happy to start their family in that house.
After they had all agreed on a house, it was what came up next that made Danny and Sam feel unready and unsure of.
"So, have you two discussed names yet?" Jeremy asked, looking over at Danny the most.
Danny scratched his head, indicating that he hadn't talked to Sam about it yet, and the nervous look on Sam's face also indicated so. He sighed and shook his head.
"You two need to better organise yourselves." Jeremy stated firmly.
"Jeremy, we're here to help them, not make them feel worse." Pamela implied, giving a glare to her husband.
Sam and Danny sighed, feeling that they had both been too busy with other things to even think about possible names. When both their parents asked what kind of names they were looking at, they both shrugged and gave no other response. So both parents gave their children some suggestions.
Lily
Jake
Simon
Samuel
Sophie
Kelly
Damien
Selena
Tyler
Luke
Alana
It was a lot of names to think about, this made Danny and Sam's minds go crazy with those names and several others that they had come up with. They told their parents that they still had time and assured them that they will have some names picked out but they won't be final until the day they arrive.
So after their meeting they began to part ways, Sam wanted to stay with Danny for the rest of the day but he told her that he had some unfinished business he had to take care of. So he left her with a warm kiss before waving goodbye.
Sam left with her parents to go back home while Jack and Maddie left Danny to what he was doing, he was glad he told his parents otherwise he would have to explain quickly as to what he was doing in the first place but then again he wouldn't have figured out exactly what to do if he hadn't asked them about it.
Danny headed towards the mall, where he saw Tucker near a newly built computer store filled with computer technology that made Tucker want to go in more than anything. But then the techno-geek turned to see his best pal approaching.
"Hey Tuck, good to see you. And I'm definitely not surprised to see you here." Danny greeted, looking up at the computer shop Tucker was just looking at.
"Yeah well, I had to look at something while I waited. So, what's up? Christmas shopping?" Tucker asked, having not been told exactly why he had to come.
Danny didn't say a word, instead his gestured to Tucker to follow him. As they walked Tucker continued to ask questions, and with no answer from Danny he grew very confused and worried as to where they were going. Eventually Danny stopped and nodded his head to his right. Tucker looked up and saw that it was a jewellery store. He gasped in immediate excitement.
"You're gonna propose!? Good on ya man!" Tucker congratulated, giving him a friendly punch on the shoulder.
"Thanks, you have to help me here. I need a second opinion and I couldn't get a hold of Jazz." Danny explained as they both went in.
Tucker nodded, understanding now why he was to meet Danny in the mall. He and Danny looked around the store, suggesting several different types of rings to each other but turning it down giving excuses such as it looked fake, it was too big, too small, and too simple.
But then Danny found it. He found the perfect ring for her, as he looked at the price he felt his heart sink a little. He had only estimated how much he had in his wallet and the price was a little over. He showed Tucker the price and asked if he could lend a few funds just in case if he didn't have enough.
"No problem pal, but you gotta pay me back later." Tucker reminded him, raising an eyebrow.
"I know." Danny replied, giving a smirk as he walked up to the counter.
Luckily, he had enough money for the ring. The ring itself was made of silver, along with two small black gems and a slightly larger purple gem in the centre, surrounded by a curvy design around the outside. It was exactly was he was looking for.
So as the weeks went on, Sam grew larger in size and as Christmas approached the snow began to fall and presents were being bought. Danny had decided to ask her the question on Christmas Eve as presents are usually given out the day after.
Sam's December 18th appointment went just as normal. The doctor had given Sam vitamins and since Sam wasn't having any meat she gave her some iron and suggestions on protein shakes. Unfortunately she still couldn't feel any movement but she grew suspicious one day with Danny as they sat together and Danny's ghost sense went off right before Sam felt the feeling of something reaching outside her stomach from the inside. It worried the expecting parents deeply.
Sam was now 6 months pregnant, only three more months to go. Sam had no idea what was going to happen in these last three months of her pregnancy, but she was glad that both hers and Danny's parents were organising their now newly bought house along with all the furnishings and were overall happy with the pregnancy. In fact they were very excited and couldn't wait until they could hold them in their arms.
There was still a little turmoil with both the parents, but they shifted it aside as to ease the tension.
Jazz on the other hand had been keeping in touch and had visited the day after Sam's December 18th appointment. She was very glad to see that everything was well and everyone was happy, she grew surprised yet relieved that the parents were taking care of all the house situations.
But yet, there was still so much that worried Danny. However there was one worry that stood out against the others. The kids having ghost powers. He felt as though it was coming more apparent that they were going to be born part ghost. A few days before Christmas whenever Sam was near Danny's ghost sense would go off. His initial reaction was to look around for a ghost, but as he saw the recurring theme of Sam approaching him and his ghost sense going off. He ultimately assumed that it was the presence of the twins within Sam's large growing belly.
It worried him so much that he was worried the moment they came out and were placed in the doctor's hands or anyone's for that matter that they would show their ghost powers. He didn't know what to do if that occurred and it was a recurring nightmare that he had to sleep with every night.
Omg...you have no idea...I knew I'd drag it out! XC I knew I done more than I said I would! There's just so much that I have to explain in this story that...the next Chapter might be even longer than this one! You have no idea how much more there is to do and I wanna try and get it all done in the next Chapter!
*sigh* Well I hoped you enjoyed this extra (and I mean EXTRA) long chapter. Expect the next one to be longer than this because the next Chapter is the last Chapter and then it's an epilogue. All I have planned to finish in the next week or so.
So see you soon for the final Chapter of Forgetful Love! ^^
