Link sat on a tree stump outside Romani Ranch. It had been several weeks since his talk with Anju. He still felt alone and empty inside. How could he go back to having nobody after experiencing all of that?
Slowly, he started resenting Anju, but that didn't matter much. Kafei returned to town. Anju was spending all her time with him now. Link knew that every night Kafie would get to feel the warm embrace of Anju's body, leaving him, Link, alone and cold like always.
A girl around Link's age was walking towards Clock Town from the Ranch. She looked like Cremia, but smaller. The girl spotted Link and ran towards him.
"Hey! You must be Link! My older sister Cremia's told me a lot about you." The girl smiled as she talked. Link wasn't sure what to say. "I'm Romani. Nice to meet you!" Link noticed she had the same pretty face as her sister. She wasn't fully developed yet, but that didn't matter. She looked innocent, and yet, cute at the same time. Link smiled back.
"It's nice to meet you too." Together, they walked back to Clock Town. Link did not know what would happen next, but for the first time in weeks, he felt happy. Romani reached over and innocently kissed him on the cheek. Link turned around and saw her giggling.
"Your face is turning red," she said after kissing him. They made their way into East Clock Town, both smiling and laughing as they did so.
"Let's stop at the Inn," said Romani. Link followed her inside the Inn. He was hoping he would not see Anju with Kafei. He was in luck. Kafei was nowhere to be seen. Anju smiled at them as Romani and Link approached the desk.
"Who's this Link? Your girlfriend?" teased Anju. Link turned a shade of red, but not from embarrassment, but from anger. Romani didn't notice.
"Is it ok if we take a nap in one of your rooms Anju?" asked Romani.
"Sure. That's all you're going to do riiight?" Romani giggled.
"Of course!" Link still looked angry, which Anju couldn't help but notice. She handed Romani a room key and told her Link would be up in a minute. She wanted to talk to him first. Romani happily took the key and walked up the stairs.
"Please don't be mad at me Link," said Anju. Her voice sounded sad. "You're so young. You don't want to get involved in something so soon." Link saw the concern in her eyes and knew she thought something was going to happen with him and Romani.
"Romani is my friend," said Link, "Right now… that's all I want." Anju smiled. She was very proud of him.
"You know… she'll grow up to look just like Cremia," Anju winked at him, giving Link a knowing smile. Link returned the smile; his anger towards Anju subsiding.
Later, Link joined Romani in the room. She was already lying in bed. Slowly, Link joined her. He wrapped an arm around her body and snuggled up against her. She smelled so good. After a few minutes, they both fell asleep in each other's arms, just happy to be together.
