I HAVE RETURNED!
I apologize to everyone for seeming to drop off of the face of the earth, but not a few hours after releasing chapter 6 my laptop began to make a rattling noise and shake so badly it made my entire desk vibrate, so I took it in to be fixed. Turns out, the fan was completely shot and the hard drive is on its way. But for now it has a new fan and I will be using it for whatever I can, and that includes this fanfiction!
This unwanted hiatus has given me more time to plan and develop this story, and I hope that everyone who has faved and followed it will continue to read it even after such a long time. I hope to have the next chapter out within a few days, but until then, here's to hoping my laptop doesn't have other plans!
For now allow me to give a few explanations on events in the story, okay?
Someone asked why Ruby went down with only one hit while Yang and Weiss could sustain far more damage. My reason for this is because I see their aura's as a sort of shield, and as with any shield it needs to be raised to different heights(or strengths). With Ruby being distracted seeing if Weiss is alright, the Boarbatusk caught her off guard and within that mere moment that she turned and saw she did not have the time to raise her aura to a good level and protect herself. I apologize if this is far from what is canon but it's how I understand the aura to work.
Another person told me that it was likely a bad idea to name a religion in particular when the girls had to deal with miss Woods, a homophobic nurse. Well, allow me to explain all of this. In my life I have seen plenty of homophobia and, while not aimed at myself, I have seen its effects on others. And the ones who are always hostile all tend to keep to excuses for it that are convenient for themselves and, quite often, complete bullshit. Like miss Woods hiding behind her religion and the bible to defend her prejudice. Now I am not saying that the bible or Christianity is bullshit, I am saying that using those things to support hatred in any way actually goes against what both the book and religion practice and teach. And it is not just christianity, it's any religion. People have their opinions, and they have the right to speak them, but they should also have the guts to back them up instead of hiding behind excuses.
Another fair point is that people think that others may be offended by the chapter. In my opinion, the only people who would be offended would be the people it is directed toward, and to see that statement you need only look in the previous paragraph and chapter.
But why christianity? Why not make a new religionr for this spectacular world? The answer is simple: I do not want to take up an entire chapter trying to flesh out an entire religion that would include deities, priests, religious practices and methods of worship. In my opinion it would take far too much effort for such a small part of the story and take away from what it really is about, the girls lying in the bed.
And that is where I will leave this off. I hope this shed a bit of light on the whole situation in the story, and also hope to see you all here when I release the next chapter.
