Hey everyone, it's Grim.
I know it's been a while since you've all heard from me, and I know that by now many of you will have likely moved on from this story, but I just wanted to let you all know that I'm back.
As many of you no doubt have heard...the creator of this beloved series, as well as an amazing example of what people can be, Monty Oum, is no longer with us. Each of us will mourn for him in our own way, but that in itself is a blessing because it means that this man has touched so many with his work. As I read the news on roosterteeth one part stuck with me more than others.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, we ask that you simply do something creative. Use your imagination to make the world a better place in any way that you can. If you know Monty like we do, then you know he would certainly be doing that if he were able to.
And that is exactly what I intend to do. Starting with an explanation. I did not take much of this hiatus by choice. The computer I used to write overheated one too many times and was deemed unfixable, and seeing as I had no other way to write this story, all I could do was look on and watch as the story of RWBY unfolded and every piece of the plot I had put together seemed to fit less and less in what is now canon.
This leads to the second reason I have not written. I have had this computer for about two weeks now, but until now I have not felt the motivation to write. I feared that if I branched off from the current RWBY universe that my story would be discarded just as many others are on a daily basis. But I see now that that fear was ridiculous. A story does not need to change because its base material has. It cannot be changed. But it can be adapted.
So I come to you all today to tell you that yes, I will be finishing A Rose For An Heiress. No, I do not know how long the story will be, not yet. But if it is anything like what is in my mind, it will be going for a very, very long time. Many elements of the canon series will be in the story, such as Neptune's appearance, the teams mission and so forth, but it will not happen as it happened in the series. At least not entirely. For example, in the series Neptune was introduced in a food fight between team RWBY and team JNPR, while in this series he may appear in another way that I have not planned yet.
For now though, I do think I have kept you all reading this long enough. I will have the next chapter up as soon as I am able to, which will hopefully be within the next week. and as a sort of apology I will tell you a few things right now.
-The main villains of this series will not be members of the white fang, though they will appear.
-The Grimm are not the worst threat to humanity.
-Ruby should probably stay away from sugar... (Okay, not really news but...you'll see.)
With that done, I hope to see you all here when the next chapter of RWBY: A Rose For An Heiress is released.
