Hey everybody, it's been a while!
If you get this and, more importantly, read it, then I just want to say thank you for staying with this story up until this point. Its been a HELL of a long time since the last update, I know, but I havent forgotten about it. Life has gotten really hectic for me and with a hectic life comes less time to do...well, much of anything. Things like Tumblr and Video games were still a thing(like grimm eclipse! SO MUCH YES!), but I havent found a whole lot of time to really get down to writing a chapter-by-chapter story. It takes alot of effort for me to do such a thing, and I'll admit that it has slipped away quite a bit. One thing I do want to say though is that i have NOT forgotten about it. I havent forgotten about Ruby and Weiss and their budding romance, or the story that I've planned out so carefully. Now this does bring about a large problem. I wanted to keep the story in with current canon, which is was, for the canon at the time, that is to say pre-season 2, or even about halfway through it. But it's been so long now that the canon has gone a completely different direction than I ever could have anticipated! For instance I honestly had thought that the woman saving Yang in the train car was SUMMER, not Raven. The black hair didnt help much. But in my defense we didnt know alot about Summer or Raven back then.
So with these new developments comes a new dilemma. Do I rewrite my story to work off of current canon? Or do I go into the realm of AU and possibly lose the interest of those who are so passionate about RWBY's current storyline? Lately thats been coming to mind more and more, and what I've thought of is that certain portions of the current canon can be incorporated while still going off of the storyline that I wanted to do. So in that way it's sortof a deviation of the current story arc. So in a way it will be classified as an AU with certain canon components. Or perhaps it would be better to only incorporate very little of current storyline into the fic, character wise. Like Qrow appearing, possibly bring Winter in as well (surprise! You're in charge of producing an heir!). One thing I will DEFINITELY try to put in are the Maidens because I love them and their story. They might be tough, but I can try to figure out how to do it.
One more thing thing that I want to touch on here, and that has admittedly taken some of the enjoyment from writing this, is how much flak I've gotten for one relatively minor detail about the story. Nurse Woods' religion, or more specifically that people claim that it was taking the easy way out and that things would have evolved differently and it wouldnt exist. Which I agree. But its not a matter of the religion itself, but finding something common that many people know and can readily bring to mind as a sort of way to understand. If I were to make an entirely new religion nobody would really understand it because nobody but myself would know how it works, what its principles are, what it is based on, etc. Again, just want to be clear, I am NOT saying anything negative about the religion itself, but about how some of its followers use it to justify their own bigotry. Something that has helped me reason through this flak is a simple but often overlooked fact.
Plenty of things would be different, including their language. But we use english. Why? Because its something we already know about and understand.
Anyway! I'm going to stop this right here before I get too rambly or turn this into an entire chapter's worth of apologies and explainations. Just wanted to let whoever may read this know that I AM planning on returning to this whenever I can. I have been going over the storyline in my head and trying to incorporate everything that I can. I cannot say when this will see a new chapter, but I can say it will be soon.
