Season 7 Episode 17 - Fool's Gold

"Sergeant Elliott!"

The younger FID officer cringed inwardly when he heard the tone in his boss' voice. He could feel her standing behind him, the scowl practically burning into the back of his head. Their Captain was not having a good day and as second in command he was taking the brunt of it.

Nevertheless he straightened up in his seat, took a deep breath and turned his chair to face her. "Yes Captain?"

Sure enough the woman was pissed, when she stood with her arms folded and that scowl on her face, Sergeant Elliott knew to keep a safe distance.

"When I ask for a detailed audit of narcotics, does that translate as 'please submit your best guess and hope I don't read it'?"

"No Ma'am."

Sharon narrowed her eyes a little further and pulled the very thin report from her folded arms and almost threw it at the poor man, Sergeant Elliott thoroughly admonished, returned to his desk, jumping a little when her office door slammed behind her.

Sharon sighed heavily and dropped into her chair, tossing her pen to the desk she leant forward, her head in her hands. It didn't matter that Pope had her so tied up with Major Crimes, she still had four open audits of other departments and numerous cases to review and apperently her team did not have her back. Usually they worked pretty well, not needing her to watch over them but since the stuff with Goldman and the leak they'd gotten complacent.

And it was starting to really piss her off.

The sound of her door opening brought her from her thoughts. She didn't look up fully, merely shifting her eyes to see the familiar form of Andy Flynn close her door behind him.

"Close the blinds please." She mumbled through her hands, watching him as he did as asked.

"What will people think!" He laughed, turning back to look at her.

"Don't care."

"Bad day? It's barely lunch time."

"Bad day." Sharon echoed in reply, her brow knitting together when Andy's smile faded and he sighed, moving to take the seat opposite her desk.

"I'm afraid it's going to get worse."

Sharon sat up straighter in her chair and folded her arms. "What did you do?"

"Why is it always me that has to have done something?"

She merely raised one eyebrow in reply, enough to make him sigh again and shake his head.

"Alright but let's start at the beginning. Major Crimes just rolled out to an apparent jewelry store robbery and Chief Johnson believes it could be connected to the ones you and PSB are investigating."

"And she sent you down here to tell me this?"

"Well it was either me or Provenza so I volunteered. To him it looks like I'm taking it for the team but really I just wanted you to hear this from me."

"I'm sensing there is more to this story."

Andy sighed for the third time in as many minutes, watching her closely to gage her reaction. "The thieves may have been interrupted by a couple of well meaning yet slightly off their game Lieutenants, and they got away."

Sharon closed her eyes for a moment, exhaling slowly as she processed his words. "Let me guess, you and Provenza."

"That would be correct Captain." Andy felt much safer right now using her title, Captain Raydor appreciated honesty and the facts laid out from the start.

"What happened?" Even as she asked the question she knew she would regret it, but necessity dictated that she needed to know.

"Ok, so Provenza gets a visit from his ex-wife Liz,"

"Which one is Liz?"

"First wife. Anyway Liz needed some cash so she pawned her wedding ring, meaning she found it wasn't worth nearly as much as Louie claimed it was, so words were exchanged and we agreed to go with her to get it back, you with me so far?"

"Yes Lieutenant."

"Ok, so we walked into this store and there was a young woman behind the counter, now we probably should have been suspicious cos she was wearing latex gloves and packing up the stock but for some reason we weren't."

"Reason being she was probably pretty and knowing you and Provenza it's an effective distraction."

"Not as pretty as you Captain."

"Not the time. Continue."

"So we tell her we want this ring back and she gets it, hands it to Provenza and says they're closing up so we left. It was only when we're getting back in the car and see the woman and some guy driving off that we realise what happened."

Sharon closed her eyes, mentally going over all the points she was going to have include in a report that hadn't even been started yet.

"Anyway we called the team, processed the scene and we think we have a good chance of finding them."

"And how's that?"

"Well we can get prints from a glove the woman left behind and there's some other evidence that can connect this one to the other robberies."

Sharon looked at him carefully, watching his eyes. If there was one thing she'd learned through their time together, in and outside of the office, his eyes betrayed him everytime. There was more to this debacle than he was letting on so far, that much was evident in his attempts to play the whole thing down.

"Ok, so run the prints and we'll work together to solve the crime."

"Well that's just it see Pope wants to hand the case over to PSB but the chief wants to keep it due to the murder."

"What murder?" Sharon's eyes widened as she sat forward.

"Oh yeah, the owner of the store was found dead behind the counter."

"Oh my god!" Sharon pushed her chair back and got to her feet, turning her back on him for a moment. "You are telling me that not only did you and Provenza stand back and watch a robbery happen you also witnessed a murder."

"No the guy was already dead when we got there."

"Oh cos that makes it so much better!" Sharon placed her hands on the desk, leaning over to look at him closely. "Anything else you want to tell me?"

Andy shifted in his seat, he may know Sharon alot more intimately these days but he was still terrified of the Captain. "We need to wait a while to process the glove."

"Why?"

"We don't technically have it yet?"

"Andy..."

"See, Liz had her dog with her in the store and he kinda, he ate it."

Sharon closed her eyes and shook her head, dropping back into her chair. "Do you and Provenza just, attract trouble?"

"I'm beginning to think it just follows me around." Andy flashed her his trademark grin and her lips twitched at the ends, though she refused to smile back at him.

For a long while they sat in silence, Andy watched her thinking, he could almost see her brain working. It was almost five minutes later when she finally spoke.

"Ok. This can be fixed, it is not a big deal." Sharon wasn't sure whether or not she was saying this to Andy or to herself but she continued anyway. "I will speak with Chief Johnson and then meet with Taylor and Pope and I believe between the Chief and I we can persuade Pope that this case stays with Major Crimes."

"Yeah?"

"Once he knows that you two are involved he won't want to risk anyone else handling it, save his own embaressment."

"Thanks Sharon."

Sharon rose to her feet, buttoning her blazor she eyed him carefully. "Don't thank me yet. You want to pray we catch these people or I won't be able to help you."

"You think this is some kind of punishment?" Andy held up the evidence bag as he walked beside Sharon, seeing her smile at his words.

"Most likely."

"If we solve this today, can I come over tonight? Make it up to you."

"Andy!" Sharon's eyes widened as she gave him the look, tilting her head towards Liz Provenza, reminding him that they weren't alone.

"She's fifty feet away and I'm not talking that loud." Andy watched as Liz walked Frank around the small green just down the block from the police building.

"No." Sharon smiled slightly, enjoying the little pout that began on his features before he reigned it in.

"You still mad at me?"

"No."

"So what?"

"You can make it up to me Lieutenant, you owe me dinner and you cook better in your own kitchen."

Andy's grin widened as he looked at her. There was so much he wanted to say to that but Frank's moment interrupted them.

"7?"

"7." Sharon repeated, pushing him towards the dog with the evidence bag in his hand. She knew it was probably cruel and she knew that those hands would be touching her in the most delicious places later that night, but she sure did get a kick out of watching him struggle with one very questionable piece of evidence.

"When I said I wanted dinner, I wasn't joking." Sharon's voice was low and breathy as Andy moved his hands beneath her shirt, his mouth trailing up the expanse of her neck.

She'd barely been at his place ten minutes when she'd found herself hoisted onto the kitchen counter. His lips instantly on her's. She could protest, stop his ministrations but she knew it was futile. She wanted him too.

There was something about working with him like she had these past couple of days. Seeing a side of him she hadn't been able to before. Sharon's dealings with him had always been on the stand point of an internal investigation. Sure she'd always thought him a handsome man but his bad points were all she knew. His temper, his mouth that had a tendency to run away with him. The way he was always getting into trouble with female officers.

Sharon would be the first to admit that she saw him an egotistical and thoroughly sexist pig.

Working alongside him had made her realise that was all bravado. Underneath the idiot exterior was a good man and a good detective. Seeing him in full Lieutenant Flynn mode did things to her that she would never admit.

"We should build up an appetite first." Andy whispered the words against her lips, his fingers moving higher up her sides until they grazed the soft lace of her bra.

"On the kitchen counter?" Sharon's breath hitched as his mouth moved to the valley between her breasts, her blouse lying forgotten somewhere behind her.

"Too much?" Andy lifted his head to look at her for a moment, she smiled back at him her hands cupping his cheeks as she pulled him in for a deep kiss.

"Not particularly comfortable."

"I thought you liked it rough Captain?"

Sharon scowled at him for a moment, he had her there. With no reply she pulled him into her again, arching against him and locking her legs around his waist. "Couch!"

"Yes ma'am."

Mere moments later and Sharon found herself naked beneath him on his couch. What had he turned her into, before him she'd never been so reckless, so carefree. She was a married women if only by technicality but still. Her desire for him was so strong it terrified her, the way he made her feel, her sex life had never been half as good as it was right now.

As his hands moved over her body, his big strong hands, Sharon trembled beneath his fingertips. In her head she kept repeating the same mantra that she always did when she was with him.

"Do not get feelings for this man."

She was enjoying this no strings relationship right now. It wasn't a relationship by definition, she refused to label it. It was just two people enjoying spending time together, no expectations. He never asked for more than she was willing to give and she likewise to him.

But good God in heaven she could get used to having this in her life.

Coherent thought vanished from her mind when he gently nibbled on her hip bone, knowing it drove her crazy.

Andy simultaneously lost all his train of thought when he slid inside of her. It felt like coming home. She felt so good around him. The way she moaned and closed her eyes, her nails digging into his back so hard they were sure to leave a mark. He stilled for a moment, focusing on not letting go too soon, his rythym started out slow, just enough to fuel her desire.

He knew very well that his pace would bring out the tigress in her, sometimes she liked it slow and steady but tonight, he'd seen it in her eyes when he first kissed her. She wanted it good.

Andy felt it the second she threaded her fingers tightly into his hair and kissed him hard. Using one hand for leverage, the other still grasping his hair Sharon pushed him up and in one swift movement he was sitting up and she was straddling him.

"Damn." He whispered, his hands gripping her hips, holding her tight against him.

Sharon quipped one eyebrow at him in satisfaction, grinding down on him she set a rythym that gave her everything she wanted.

Her hands braced on the back of the couch she watched Andy's face carefully, watching every ounce of pleasure cross his features. She felt the fire start in the pit of her stomach, the familiar tightening that she knew so well.

She wanted him with her when she fell. There was only one sure fire way to make that happen. Once again Sharon's fingers threaded in his hair and her lips moved to his neck. The low growl told her she'd hit the perfect spot. She kissed her way towards his ear, the moment she bit down on the skin she felt him shudder. It sent her over the edge and she held on to him so tight, riding out the waves of her release sent him into oblivion too, his hands gripped her hips as he held on for dear life.

They stayed connected for a long moment, Andy's hands moved along the expanse of her back whilst Sharon rested her forehead against his. Willing her breathing to return to normal, she pushed back a little to look at him.

When he reached around to move the hair from her face she trembled a little and closed her eyes. The initimate moments like this were something she both loved and dreaded. The more she allowed herself to indulge them the more she knew she would fall.

"Next time we do that..." Andy started, his breathing still ragged, "leave the glasses on."

"Why?" Sharon laughed a little, her fingers trailing along his bare chest.

"Cos then it would feel like I was screwing Captain Raydor."

"Andy!"

"Always wanted to do that!" His laughter fueled her's and he caught it with a kiss, smiling against her lips. "I mean, Sharon's amazing, but Captain Raydor is wicked hot!"
