"Fine" I thought to myself. "If Niklaus doesn't want to be here than I shall prove I can live without him"

1492 Somewhere in England
I hadn't known how long I had been locked in this coffin. I lost track after a while; some days I would be conscious, others I would not. This time though I was conscious and I knew something was desperately wrong.
Everything outside seemed chaotic I am not sure how I can tell but I just knew. One moment there was chaos and the next there was only silence.
"Carolena I need you" I could hear Niklaus desperate pleas and I tried to shout out. But alas though I could not. I wished so desperately to be in his arms. To hold him until his sadness went away; but I am dead so I cannot.
"I love you" I try to shout. I can almost feel my poor loves sadness in my grave. One day I promise I will be reborn and my soul can leave behind this body and comfort my lover's anguish with another's body.

"But don't you miss the past?" Rebekah asked me at the breakfast table.
"And that is exactly what it is" I said. "The past and there is absolutely nothing we could do to change that"
"If you could go back and live it again but correctly this time would you?" Rebekah asked me.
"No" I said. "There is still the matter of fate, Henrik would still die, supernaturals would still be involved in our lives, perhaps you or Kol would have become witches, Niklaus would eventually reveal his werewolf side and I would be kicked out of the village because I was carrying his spawn. Maybe you all would have settled down and fallen in love or hated the one you married or perhaps died of an incurable disease. Rebekah do stop dwelling on the past nothing will change it"
"Mother always said you were wise beyond your years" Rebekah said after a while. "Do you think you and Niklaus would've been happy?"
"I think we would still be as in love as the day we died, but that's it though maybe our love did perish and I simply have been too caught up in everything to realize it"
"You don't believe that Care? I have watched my brother mourn you for the past hundred years so don't you dare say he doesn't love you anymore" Rebekah said indignantly.
"Has he truly been mourning me or our unborn child do not stand up for your brother he doesn't deserve it" Carolena spat.
"Care you can't possibly believe that"
"Why not when I am given nothing else to believe of him" I shout. "You all tell me he's not coming yet you continue to defend him"
Rebekah sat silently after that and watched me eat Captain Crunch cereal. Eventually she spoke again. "I wish I was still human"
"No you don't" I told her. "You like being powerful and staying young forever I know I would've loved it"
"But what about"
"I wouldn't trade my child's life for anything but if I had already had him you know I would've been turned alongside all of you"
After my statement Elijah and Finn walked into the room. "You have been dead for a thousand years yet you somehow are smarter than all of us combined"
"Don't flatter me Elijah I lack more knowledge than you realize" I told him. "Like you said I have been dead for a thousand years"
"Care—" Rebekah started.
"Do not fret Rebekah I am okay, now who is on babysit Carolena duty today" I said standing up, making sure to plaster a smile on my face. "Or better yet let us all enjoy each other's company and you can catch me up on everything I have missed"
"Where are we going?" Finn asked when we all piled into the car.
"We shall go to the grill I'm craving a milkshake" I said. "That is what they are called, correct?" Once we arrived at the grill we sat at a booth and I ordered a chocolate milkshake.
"So . . ." I started while slurping my milkshake through a straw.
"It has been a thousand years Carolena you must be more specific" Elijah said glancing around.
"Stop being so cautious Elijah it's not like this town has never heard of vampires" At that exact moment two people sauntered in. My body stiffened as I recalled the man drinking my blood when I first woke up. The Tatia look alike whispered something into his ear and he scowled and began to swagger over to us.
"Well well well if it isn't coffin Barbie and the big bad originals" He said standing at the front of the table. "Aren't you supposed to be dead" He said looking at Finn.
"Do you normally go asking people if they're supposed to be dead? And technically they all died a thousand years ago" I snapped at the raven haired man.
"I could've sworn I drained you dry" He snapped at me.
"And I could've sworn I fried your brain cells" I mocked him. "Oh but wait there wasn't any to fry in the first place"
I heard Rebekah choke back a laugh and I could see Elijah smiling from the corner of my eye. "You think you're so clever shacking up with the originals to protect yourself, how'd you get them to agree to help you anyway? Sleep with them"
"At least I'm not 'shacking up' with my brother's girlfriend" I said smirking, hearing the brunette gasp slightly. "And I haven't 'shacked up' with anyone for a thousand years besides I would never sleep with my brother in laws"
"If these are your brother in laws who the hell are you married to?"
"I think you can answer that yourself Damon" Rebekah snapped. "Klaus won't take kindly to you being rude to his girl" Damon gave one last glare before storming out of the grill with the brunette scampering behind him.
"Start there" I say turning to Elijah. "Explain to me why she looks like Tatia"
"In order to turn us into vampire mother used doppelganger blood . . ." Elijah continued to tell me about the doppelgangers and Niklaus' curse but I had ceased paying attention because a memory had got hold of me.

10th century Mystic Falls
"Niklaus have you heard the news?" I asked running up to him. "A new girl has moved to our village apparently she is with child"
"Oh what a scandal" He growled looking at his lap. My eyebrow pulled together in confusion.
"Niklaus whatever is the matter?"
"Elijah fancies the new girl" Niklaus snapped.
"That is wonderful for Elijah but why does it make you so sad?"
"She is quite beautiful and I have begun to fancy her as well" Carolena could feel her heart breaking at Niklaus' words.
"Then she must be quite special to have all the men's attention in this village" Carolena growled.
"Is that jealousy I detect Carolena is there a man in this village you fancy?" Niklaus joked.
"I do believe that is none of your business now if you would excuse me I have told you what I came here to tell you" Carolena stood up and began to walk away.
"Carolena?" Niklaus called out. She turned with a glimmer of hope in her eyes. "Meet me here tomorrow and you can help me win her heart"
Carolena simply turned and scampered away.

"Are you alright Carolena?" Finn asked, interrupting Elijah.
"I am fine but I believe anther milkshake is in order" Once I had received my milkshake Elijah continued his story. "Elijah can you tell me what happened after I—I" I interrupted.
"Are you sure you want to know?" He asked me hesitantly.
"Was it that bad?"
"It was worse" Rebekah piped in. "Nik was inconsolable"
"Tell me"

"Rebekah! Elijah! Kol! Finn!" Niklaus' voice screamed. Immediately all of the Mikaelson siblings arrived at Ayanna's hut. They all stared dumbly at the scene; Niklaus was cradling Carolena's body to his own sobs wracking his figure, next to him Esther was laying on the ground with her heart resting beside her body. Ayanna was also there huddled in a corner.
"Niklaus what has happened?" Rebekah asked with tears streaming down her face.
"Father killed Mother but Mother she—she killed Carolena and our chi—child" Rebekah rushed forward only to be stopped by the invisible barrier.
"Nik" she whispered.
"She's dead Bekah" Niklaus said looking up at his sister. "They both are"
"Ayanna let me in" Rebekah pleaded.
"SHE'S DEAD!" Niklaus screamed setting down Carolena's body. "She can't be dead!" He jumped up.
"Niklaus wait!" Ayanna yelled. He spun around and lifted her up by her neck, his vampire features showing.
"I should kill you" Niklaus growled. His fangs diving towards his neck.
"She's not dead" Ayanna whispered.
"Do not lie to me witch!"
"She will only awake when you need her most"
"I need her now! WAKE HER UP"
"She will awaken someday" Ayanna said. Niklaus then picked up Carolena and sped her out of the hut.

"After that Niklaus was emotionless he never loved again but every once and a while you would see him stand by your coffin and beg for you to wake up" Rebekah finished. Carolena then stood up and ran from the grill.
Carolena wanted so badly to hate him for not standing right here with her, but she couldn't. No matter how hard she tried to ignore that he wasn't helping her in this strange world, she knew he never trusted easily. She felt her throat clog up and she knew she would start crying soon, but she was sick of crying so instead she sat on the park bench. Once seated she pulled Rebekah cell phone out of her own pocket; she had snagged it from Rebekah's purse before running outside. Rebekah had taught her how to use it and for that Carolena was grateful. Carolena flipped through the contacts and pulled up Niklaus' name, she clicked on the call button and listened to the ringing.
"What?" Niklaus' gruff voice answered. "Rebekah you better not be pocket dialing me" She heard him sigh on the other end and she hung up but not before a sob escaped her throat.
"Ta ta ta since when did Carolena Mikaelson cry over boys" A sarcastic voice asked from in front of her. She looked up and gasped and then jumped into Kol's arms.
"Since she got knocked up" Carolena said stepping away from him she decided that phrasing of 'being with child' sounded too brash as most things in this modern world did.
"I never did understand why you chose him over me I am obviously better looking" He joked.
"Someone must have drugged my food I must've been quite delirious"
"And you just threw yourself at me what a disgrace" He scoffed. "Whatever will the town say or better yet your husband" Kol said his voice ending in a dark tone.
"Kol" Carolena warned.
"That's right he would need to be here in order to judge you" Kol said, scowling. "On much better topics how is my nephew doing?"
The earlier sadness forgotten Carolena smiled. "He's perfect, but we still are unsure of his sex so stop calling him your nephew"
"Yet you just referred to him as a boy mothers intuition is always correct" Carolena rolled her eyes.
"Another Mikaelson boy would be disastrous"
"Yes but look how the girls turned out" Carolena wasn't a Mikaelson by blood but they basically raised her and then married one. That was enough to make her a true Mikaelson in all their eyes.
"He'll come running back to you in a few days he doesn't have any family there anymore and that werewolf girl's hormones are enough to make anyone run in the opposite direction" Kol said trying to reassure her.
"Werewolf girl?"
"Oh yes you're not the only one Nik knocked up"
"WHAT!" Carolena shrieked. "Oh I'll kill him" She muttered. Then suddenly she deflated sitting back down on the bench. "He's with her" Kol looked at her sadly.
"If it makes you feel any better he keeps threatening to rip out her heart"
"But she's with child"
"He hates her"
"Obviously not enough to stick his dick in her" Kol choked back a laugh, Carolena was glaring at the ground. "What if he does not love me anymore?"
"Oh he loves you in fact the reason he's not coming is because he thinks everyone's tricking him about you being alive"
"He won't come will he?" She asked Kol sadly.
"I think that depends how good in bed you are" Kol stated.
"Kol!" She shrieked. "But he won't will he"
"I think you and him are the only ones who know the answer to that" Kol stood up and walked to the grill he knew she needed to be alone. As soon as he walked inside something was pressed to her mouth and she passed out.

10th century Mystic Falls
Niklaus 6, Carolena 5
"Nik! Nik! Wait up" a little Carolena yelled her little legs trying as fast as they can to catch up to him. "Nik where did you go?" She asked feeling slightly scared.
"Don't worry Care I'll never leave you" He said popping up in front of her.
"Good. Because I need my best friend" She said as a matter of factly.
"Here I made this for you" He said handing her a flower crown.
"Oh but my lord this is too generous" She said in the best womanly voice she could muster.
"But fair Carolena I cannot be a king without my beautiful queen to stand beside me"After saying this Carolena leaned up and kissed his cheek. "I'll marry you someday Carolena"

Carolena blinked open her eyes only to be met by cruel brown ones.
"At last our sleeping beauty has awoken"
"W—where am I?" she asked, shakily. She noticed that she was chained to a wall in some sort of cellar.
"This is the Lockwood cellar and my name is Tyler Lockwood" He stated. "You showing up here has messed a lot of plans up and I'm going to have to kill you before you screw anything else up"
He began to drag a knife across her chest and she screamed in pain, but it seemed her wounds were healing as quickly as they were being applied. Noticing this he began to slash all over her body with the knife, he began to get so frustrated his hybrid features appeared. Carolena screamed again and this time he leaned forward and latched onto her neck. She was expecting him to get a headache from it like the others but he continued drinking. Carolena was beginning to lose consciousness when suddenly he was jerked away. The last thing she remembered was slipping to the ground with only the chains supporting her.
She saw the forest flashing by and then she was lying in bed with faces hovering above her.
"C'mon Care please wake up" A voice pleaded. A bit farther away she could hear voices debating.
"I have a feeling his blood is the only thing that can save her" an unfamiliar voice said.
[O*O*O]
Present time New Orleans
"What the hell Klaus are you so bent on believing it's not her you would truly have one of your hybrids kill her!" Elijah yelled into the phone.
"What are you talking about Elijah?"
"I'm talking about your lackey Tyler Lockwood trying to kill Carolena today" Out of the corner of his eye he could see Hayley smirking.
"And where is Tyler now?"
"Kol has been torturing him for the past few hours" Elijah said.
"Tell him not to kill him yet I have a better idea" Klaus said turning to a wide eyed Hayley.
"Carolena is not okay in case you were wondering" Klaus hung up quickly with Elijah's last remark.
Whose blood can save her? Will Klaus finally go back to Mystic Falls? and what's his big plan?
