Author's Note: Yamato and Mimi living together. I had almost forgotten how cute they are when set in really cheesy/fluffy scenes (hehe). The idea of Mimi and Yamato sharing an apartment has already been in my hard drive for months now, but I couldn't find a better execution until last night. Forgive my chapter title, I can't find a good one for this story. Enjoy!

Warm Bodies

.

.

Summer nights always proved to be exhaustingly unbearable to sleep through. She would keep trying to convince him to buy air-conditioner, but he would answer that a floor heating system is more practical and useful.

There's still no air-conditioner, or floor heating system for summer and winter, respectively.

But tonight was more unbearable than the last one, as drops of warm water trickled down her face and rest of the corners of her body. She had just gotten promoted from intern to assistant in the television company, so affording appliances on her own was still difficult. She looks at the more relaxed and comfortable being beside her, unusually engrossed with his mobile phone. She moves closer to him, mumbling on his shoulder.

He replies with his ever usual-and-vague 'maybe', his eyes still on the screen.

Frustration was becoming her best friend. But she did not want to set an argument on fire tonight, as they had already gone head-on-head about his loud orchestral rock music and the spicy wok he had cooked for dinner earlier.

Seeking for his full attention, she uses his nickname, then mumbles something again.

Right when he was about to turn his head and lean in for a kiss, she had already tossed herself out of the bed, turning the lights on. Her damped chestnut hair and moistened pale skin revealed, slightly making him feel guilty for not having the best accommodations for princesses.

He blames a bit of himself, somewhat regretting he asked her to move in with her during her twenty-second birthday last year. But even so, he was motivated than ever to do a more than a job well-done at his aerospace training, slightly hoping his efforts might attract a promotion and a salary increase.

Then maybe, just maybe, they could afford a little more than just a bachelor-sized apartment, and an air-conditioner and floor-heating system, once and for all.

He motions her back to the bed, says something wonderful about her legs, but the fantasy was put to death when she already had a pillow and their only blanket with her. She declares she'll sleep outside, tells him something about more windows and air.

She sees him frown, now sad she has to do this, but she has no choice. And so she has finally decided to move out of the bedroom, and make her own little nest at the living room. She looks at the door, a bit guilty she had to leave her lover alone tonight.

But there were more important things – like getting a good night's rest. With one last look at the door, she yawns, falls into slumber.

Morning broke in rather earlier than usual, the sun already up at five. Slowly the living room was being bathed with sunlight, removing the leftover cold of the night.

Sweat was what woke Mimi up. Feeling groggy, thirsty, tired, and somewhat heavier. Not for long she notices a pair of two arms holding her from behind; catches her by surprise that he had snucked in last night. She smiles widely, turning around to meet Yamato's also sweaty face.

"O-ha-yo Yama.." she whispered in the cutest voice she could manage, her fingers softly poking some spots of his face. He smiles at this, while eyes still shut.

Mimi giggles, slowly trying to get out of his hold as she was about to prepare them breakfast, but Yamato pulls her back in the furniture, his grip tighter than earlier. No way was he going to let her go right now.

"That's for abandoning me last night." he slurred in the mess of her hair, his lips planting kisses on her shoulder.

She laughs, nuzzles her head on his neck, not minding the shared sweat of their tangled arms and legs.
