Buttercup was the only one present at the breakfast table. It wasn't because the others had slept in a little, no it was because Buttercup woke extra early with excitement. She was like a small child at Christmas. It might seem odd that the green clad teen was looking forward to showing the boys up but not to her. For her whole life men had looked down on her saying she wasn't good enough to hunt or do other activities that they saw were a man's job. And she hated it. She had not always been determined to prove she could do anything a man could do or even better and to be fair she wasn't a feminist or anything like that either. For a long time she had felt like she had to prove her worthy which is what was the foundation for her need to see herself exceed in all things. She was aware that she had been and probably would have been quite competitive in all things she put her mind to but living with the tribe had changed it from a personality trait to a need. Buttercup could still remember the day it all changed.
Buttercup scanned her options before her. She could easily pass to David up ahead, there was no one covering him or she could skim past the two defenders and head to the goal herself. Never one to just hand it over she began running towards the goal with David cursing and running ahead even more.
"Pass the fucking ball Buttercup." David shouted from across the pitch. This gained the attention of one of the defenders which ended with him being well marked. Buttercup smirked, this was going to be way too easy. She easily passed Lee, who was too frightened to even approach Buttercup at the best of times. As she approached the goalie she started formulating a plan in her head she starting running towards the right hand side of the goal. The goalie focused on that side thinking he had out smarted Buttercup but much to his dismay the raven haired girl struck the ball to hit the back of the net at the left side of the goal. Her teammates surrounded her and began chanting her name. She basked in this feeling of glory at her triumph. She had scored 2 out of the three goals her team had managed to grasp resulting in them winning the small tournament the children of the tribe held. They finally lowered Buttercup to the ground, clapping her on the back for leading her team to victory. But as the group slowly started thinning out she noticed a few adults had turned up for the game. They never bothered usually to show up as the women claimed they were too busy doing their chores and the men were pretty much out hunting a lot of their time. The men seemed to be surrounding David congratulating him but as Buttercup reached the group she realised it wasn't for his leadership skills as captain but for winning the game.
"Well done David. You did your team proud by winning the game."
"Yes and your goal was the definitely goal of the competition. It was amazing." Buttercup clenched her teeth. His goal was a total fluke, it had been Buttercup that sent the ball towards the goal to have the goalie punch it out but David's big head was in the way resulting in an accidental header. He of course claimed he knew what he was doing but Buttercup saw him get frustrated at first that the ball bounced off his face.
"Best player on the pitch today." Buttercup couldn't hold back any longer.
"I doubt it." She said loud and clear grabbing everyone's attention even the children still celebrating behind her.
"Excuse me?" David said.
"You were not the best player out there today and your goal was a result of you being smacked in the face by the ball."
"Buttercup. I know you wished you could play as well as David but there is no need for you to get nasty. Jealousy is a horrible trait you know." One man said.
"Jealous?! More like telling the truth, BOTH my goals were a hundred percent better than his pathetic excuse for one and as for being the best on the field that was me. I created opportunity for players, I instructed the team on the next move hell I even gave the team talk this morning!"
"Buttercup! Enough! You have had fun playing with the boys but now it has to stop especially if you are creating weird fantasies in your head in which you are the best player. You are a girl for goodness sake. Men triumph over woman in most things, one of them being sports. Deal with it."
Buttercup had stormed off after that but not before throwing a punch at David which resulted in it being broken in two pieces. She had run off and hid in the woods for a week. This was where Buttercup had learned how to hunt, how to survive in the wilderness. Of course when she got back the tribal chief had asked to see her. He had told her she was no longer allowed to participate in the soccer games which had angered her once again. But she instantly calmed after receiving a small lecture from the chief. She was the only girl that had been not only still had interest in the tournament anymore but still playing football. The other girls had begun learning the way the women in the camp lived. He had allowed it, he knew what she was like and he knew how passionate she was in certain things.
It was frustrating to say the least. That was when she had begun distancing herself from everyone in the tribe and living on her own, disappearing in the forest for long periods. She had no one at the camp who cared for her so no one asked questions. They just left her to it.
"Buttercup!" The Green Puff snapped her head towards the source of the shout, Blossom.
"You okay? I said your name a few times but you were obviously zoned out in your own thoughts to hear me."
"Yeah I'm okay." Buttercup was still slightly angry with her previous thoughts but managed to smile nonetheless. Blossom gave her a knowing look but before she could press for more details the door opened revealing the three boys. Buttercup's smile dropped and she turned back to her bowl of porridge.
Blossom knew Buttercup was far from fine but she knew not to question it when the boys were around. The girls had made a silent agreement if you like not to indulge the boys in their past unless necessary. She sat down next to Buttercup and helped herself to the same as her green eyed sister. The last few mornings they had all been together the girls and boys never acknowledged each other even though they sat right across from each. It was easier that way. Neither party was interested in what the other had to say. So naturally Blossom turned to her two sisters.
"I thought after breakfast after everyone's ready we could go over everyone's plans." Buttercup only slightly nodded whilst her youngest one answered.
"Sounds good. Ms Bellum said to me last night she wanted to see us at some point today after everything was decided so we could organise the clothes and things we needed."
"It's just clothes." Buttercup grumbled.
"We will have to probably wear wigs and contacts especially Blossom."
"Great." Pink eyes rolling at the idea.
"I'm not wearing a wig." Buttercup stated. Blossom rolled her eyes at her raven haired sister. She knew she could be difficult sometimes even unbearable but she wasn't in the mood to waste time with her stroppy attitude now, not when it was this important. Bubbles however realising the tension slightly building turned and said.
"We should do something fun after all that."
"Like what?" Buttercup perked up at this.
"I dunno-"But before Bubbles could put in suggestions, the professor walked in.
"Eat up everyone. We have a quick training session for all before you begin your days events." Everyone looked, apart from Buttercup, with slight confusion over why the sudden need to train. Blossom whipped her head round to ask her sisters what they thought until she saw the small smirk her younger sister was trying to get rid of. She continued to stare long after it had gone and everyone turned back round to their food. Buttercup raised her head and looked at her older sister. That's when Blossom knew, somehow Buttercup was the one who had set this whole arrangement up and she wasn't quite sure how or why. She turned towards the boys when she heard sets of chair scraping across the floor.
"Meet you down there I guess." Brick muttered. Blossom watched the three Ruffs leave and made sure the door shut behind them before turning back to her green sister.
"What did you do?" Buttercup shrugged.
"I don't know what you are talking about."
"Cut the shit Buttercup." Both Bubbles and Buttercup stared at Blossom from what they knew of the girl she seemed not one for swearing. Buttercup face fell into a scowl.
"I hate that the boys think they are better than us because we are girls. They think they can handle us and beat us with ease because we are wussy little girls. Well we are not. We are just as good as them hell we are better than them, more powerful, stronger and the sooner they realise the sooner we are back in CONTROL." Buttercup was breathing harshly. Blossom and Bubbles looked at their sister with sympathy. They both knew where this was coming from. They knew the boys were convinced they were no threat and even though the thought of it did bother them slightly it was obviously tearing their sister up. They had been honest with each other over their past. They wanted to know exactly what it was like for each of them. That's when they realised that Buttercup had been denied her passions and hobbies simply because of her gender. This made the green puff a little sensitive when genders were ever questioned. They knew she wasn't thinking that women were better than men but equals. That they had different strengths and weaknesses but her tribe was blind to this. They didn't share into Buttercup's reasonable thinking which resulted in her being shunned. This made Blossom and Bubbles even more determined.
"Okay. Let them go first, see what we are up against then after that please follow my every lead." Blossom pleaded slightly. She wanted this to go perfectly for the girls but more importantly for Buttercup.
"I wouldn't have it any other way Leader Girl."
The girls were taking their seats behind the glass window just as the boys were entering the training room. Bubbles realised that their counterparts mirrored the girls expressions for the most part of their early training sessions, Brick looking focused, Butch looked to be excited and Boomer even though he tried to hide it looked slightly frightened. She knew that feeling all too well, standing in the white room not knowing what could appear in front of you was terrifying to the Blue Puff.
"Okay boys same as the first day you arrived, I will put the level a little higher today as you managed the last one pretty well." As the professor turned some dials and pressed buttons Bubbles looked round the room. Ms Bellum and Ms Keane were leaning against the wall next to the door whispering between each other. Mojo was sitting next to the professor observing each movement obviously to make sure the professor was being fair. Bubbles attention was brought back to the boys as a voice announced the level.
"Level Eleven." Buttercup smirked. This was going to be too easy.
The girls watched as the room before them changed into what they had presumed to be Townsville. The boys stood on a long stretch of road like the girls had done in their previous training sessions, surrounded by tall buildings and scattered parked cars. Once the room was set the faceless drone appeared around the boys. They boys didn't acknowledge each other's presence before kicking off the ground and attacking. Blossom watched the boys' movements. She could see the similarities between each counterpart but what she realised some might fail to see was the differences too. They had the same fighting technique but not the same control over their emotions. That was what they used to bring power to their movements. Blossom continued to watch as she began thinking up a plan. One that would show the boys and Mojo what they could do. The monkey was worried, she had heard that last night but Bricks casual brush off pissed Blossom off. She didn't mean to overhear but it couldn't be helped not with having super powers. She had heard the monkey asking Brick to convince his brothers to take the girls seriously but Brick had simply acted the same as his brothers. She noticed that boys had no formation or lead. Brick would shout random things but Butch would either ignore him or follow them with his own twist. Boomer, however, seemed to want to avoid conflict but knew it was inevitable. Regardless of this however the boys were clearly powerful. Their punches and kicks were incredibly powerful but their downfall was they didn't use much of their powers opting in using brute force. As the boys finished up they looked pretty proud of themselves especially Butch who seemed to have developed a little bit of a 'swagger' and even bowed at the end.
"Okay girls you are up."
"I do not wannt you changing our schedule Professor." Blossom warned the older gentleman. He seemed to understand as he quickly nodded. As they walked down the small corridor to get to the door to the training room they passed the boys.
"Good luck girlies." Butch mocked.
"Okay girls here's what we are going to do." Blossom said as she made sure the boys weren't paying attention.
The boys sat where the girls once were as they saw the door open and the Puffs enter. One by one the girls walked in, Buttercup, Bubbles and finally Blossom. They stood looking absolutely bored by the whole thing as the professor began pushing buttons. They boys were confused. Why weren't they nervous? Had they not just seen the boys in action? But the boys could only be more shocked and annoyed at what they heard next.
"Level Seventeen." Mojo's head snapped towards the professor but before he could begin screeching the professor cut him off.
"That's where they are at. I will not make them go back a few levels just for this exercise." The monkey crossed his arms and sat back as Townsville appeared once more. The room was again filled with drones however the number seemed to have tripled for this level. The girls stood unmoving as the same voice begun a countdown.
"Ready girls?" Blossom shouted. Both girls shouted back yeah as the voice said begin. Blossom and Bubbles flew into their air and began hovering. The drones turned towards Buttercup.
"Go Buttercup!" Blossom yelled. Her sister grinned before throwing a punch at the nearest drone bashing its face in. Buttercup threw herself back as two drones went to punch her causing them to hit each. She quickly sliced three drones in half with her laser beams before kicking one in the head. She watched with sheer delight as the drones head rolled towards her growing pile of broken robots. She reached out with both hands grabbing the back of two drones' heads and smashed them together before throwing them to the side. She twirled and flew towards a straight line of drones knocking them out like bowling pins.
"Buttercup, out. Bubbles, in." Blossom commanded. Buttercup instantly flew up to where her sisters hovered. This time Bubbles dropped to the ground and looked around her. A small circle began forming around the Blue Puff, she smiled before doing a handstand and twirling on the spot with her legs to either side of her catching all the drones. She dropped and landed softly on her bum to quickly assess the situation. She jumped to her feet as three drones approached her. She jumped in the air kicking her legs out either side to kick two of the drones in the face and when she landed she threw a few punches at the drone in front. After it collapsed she roundhouse kicked the one that she had been aware of approaching from behind her. A new circle began forming again around Bubbles with one grabbing her hands and roughly pulling them behind her back. As she readied herself for her attack she remembered back to what the older sister had said before entering the training room.
"We are going to enter together but take the drones on one by one. The professor might not agree with it but we need to do this. Buttercup I want you to go first. I want you to show how strong you are. Butch will do it, trying to prove a point to everyone in the room more importantly you but I want you to show him how much strength your punches pack and that you are not to be taken lightly. Bubbles you will have the most to show. Boomer for the boys are their weak link so by default you should be ours but you are far from it. I need you to show off your speed and keep calm at all times. If a drone manages to overcome you I need you to take a deep breath and quickly react. I know you can do it. I know we all can. I wouldn't suggest this crazy idea if I didn't. I will be in the air at all times so if you get stuck or seem to get into trouble listen to what I have to say but trust me girls you will be fine." Blossom said the last part straight to the Blue Puff.
So Bubbles did what her elder sister said do to. She took a deep breath and let her instincts kick in. That's how she found herself pushing herself off the ground and using the drone behind her to keep her balance, she ran across the drones that were in a circle pushing down with force when her foot came in to contact with her chest. She finally flipped over the bot that held and kicked it in the back. The drone had helped her defeat the circle before it realised what had happened thanks to her speed that the Pink Puff had instructed to use. She smiled to herself. Bubbles was proud of herself. Before Blossom had said it Bubbles knew the boys would think her to be the weakest one out of the three but she was proving to be tougher than she looked.
"Bubbles out." That was all that needed to be said for Bubbles to jump into the air. Blossom landed on the ground and stood with her arms crossed surveying her surroundings. As drones started to approach she still stood her ground waiting. She had to time it perfectly and Blossom knew she would. The drones had decided to just start shooting at the Pink Puff after no sign of her attacking. Blossom had counted on that jumped in the air dodging a few laser beams. As she landed Blossom spun to the side avoiding a few more and then jumped and flipped in the air. The Pink Puff landed on her feet once more and realised there was a less few bots. The laser beams that had missed her had actually struck other drones that were trying to get to her. She turned her head and realised she was staring down the barrel of a gun. But before the drone could do anything, she grabbed its wrist and knocked the gun into her possession. This resulted in a few drones being shot down by the Pink Puff. She dropped the gun to the ground flew straight towards one drone and threw an uppercut hitting it directly in its chin. She spun kicked the two approaching from behind and zapped one coming from her left. Just as she suspected from the last few training sessions a lot more bots appeared ready for battle.
"Girls." That was all Blossom had to shout before two streaks of colour landed next to her.
"Same as last time. Stick together and cover each other's backs. If you find yourself in a spot of trouble do not hesitate to shout."
"Let's go Leader Girl, I want to kick some ass." Blossom shook her head and chuckled slightly.
"Fine. Let's go girls."
"They have excelled in everything." The professor said to no one in particular. Ms Keane approached the glass watching the rainbow of the girls zipping around the room taking the drones out easily.
"Their powers are stronger than ever." Ms Keane muttered.
"This is great considering our little problem when they first arrived and now look at them." Ms Bellum stated as she too came to stand in front of the mirror.
"I just don't like that we are sending them in to face Him and we aren't even sure what he is capable of." The professor said.
"But look at them John, you can't say you don't think they won't be able to defeat Him now. It will be tough for them that's for sure but they will manage." Ms Keane said looking towards the professor. He smiled slightly towards the petite woman.
"I know but call it fatherly instincts hating the idea they will be thrown into a situation they are not sure of and could possibly get hurt, bad." Both women offered a small smile of understanding but Ms Bellum approached the professor. She placed a hand on his shoulder.
"John they are three amazing girls who have so far overcome quite a few obstacles. I know you are worried, we are too." Indicating herself and Ms Keane, "But we know they can do it." The professor smiled. He owed the two women who stood in front of him so much. They had risked their lives to protect his little girls and even know they were helping the girls out and still stuck by his side. He wasn't quite sure where he would be if it weren't for their constant support. He looked back to his girls still in action but nearing the end of their training session. He was secretly proud of their tactics showing the enemy they were someone to be feared.
"Simulation finished."
"That's it? I could go twenty more rounds." Buttercup said bouncing on her feet throwing a few punches in the air. Bubbles giggled.
"Where you get your energy I do not know." Buttercup shrugged and walked through the door Blossom was holding open.
"I think that was our best yet." Blossom stated proudly. They walked in the room with everyone else still sat. Blossom had said to the girls earlier to show no attention to the boys once they were in the room. This would be the sign that they had done what they had for them.
"Are you trying to give your old man a heart attack?" The professor asked with humour in his voice.
"You had nothing to worry Pa, we were all over them robots." Buttercup answered.
"Well you girls yet again out did yourself." Ms Keane said with a huge smile.
"It was fun." Bubbles said which had everyone looking at her with their eyebrows raised. She shrugged.
"What? I enjoy kicking butt too, maybe not as much as Buttercup but who does?" That earned a few laughs for the Blue Puff.
"Well we better get back to planning." The Pink Puff said. She led the girls passed the very quiet Rowdyruff Boys and up the stairs. The professor walked out with the two women discussing the girls training session leaving Mojo and his boys.
"Now do we realise this is not a game? That these girls are a lot stronger than you gave them credit for. I don't want any more of your boys' bullshit I want them watched and done carefully. They are a very big threat to us and I won't have them ruining what we have had planned for years." The training room door slammed shut indicating the monkey had left.
"I'm just going to say it, what the hell was that?" Brick remained quiet after Butch's outburst.
"I never doubted what the monkey said about them being strong. It's not our fault you are a little bit sexist." Boomer said.
"Sexist? Me?" Butch said with disbelief.
"Why did you think they would be weak and we would be so much stronger? And you wonder why Buttercup had no time for you last night." Boomer said the last part after the look of realisation crossed the Green Ruff's face however it also resulted in Boomer getting struck in the back of his head.
"Enough." Brick instructed. Both brothers looked at their leader waiting for his opinion.
"The monkey is right. They need to be watched so spend as much time with them. Figure out where they have been and why they stayed away for this whole time. This may be the obstacles the red head lady spoke of. Come on we can't leave the girls alone for too long."
"Did you see their faces?" Buttercup whispered with excitement.
"Yes but we have to act cool and not say a word. Let them do the talking. If we acknowledge it they will think it was all for them and that will be a lot worse." Blossom whispered back. The sound of approaching footsteps had the girls taking their seats with their plans laid out in front.
"Okay so we go separately that means back up is available if needed." The boys sat down across from their counterparts listening intently to the Pink Puff which had her on full alert.
"I think the Blues should go first. It's going to take a few days to create false identities for the rest of us so in the meantime Bubbles and Boomer you will head to Fuzzy's scope the place out like you planned and then report back after a few days. Hopefully in that time you will get a glimpse into what the pink oaf is hiding especially with the addition of a new expensive barn."
"I think Greens should then go next gives us more time to read up on astrophysics." Brick added. Blossom merely nodded.
"Bubbles? Boomer? How soon can you put your plan into action?"
"In the next few days probably. We need to organise camping equipment and transport getting us there and back."
"See Ms Bellum and Ms Keane for all that." Blossom said.
"Buttercup? Butch? How about you guys?"
"Apart from the identities situation just as soon as." Buttercup stated.
"We will need to read up a little on the whole thing as well as getting to know weapons too" Butch added. Buttercup nodded. She had never thought of that but she would never admit that to the Green Ruff sitting across from her.
"Great. Brick and I are on the same page, just some research and that's us. Okay separate. Blues seek out Ms Bellum and Ms Keane, Greens go and read up on Sedusa's camp and we will read more into astrophysics." Blossom said looking at Brick.
"Before you all disappear I have come up with a few gadgets." The professor said appearing out of nowhere it seemed, "We have ear pieces so you can communicate with each other. We will be giving each of you what seems to anyone else a normal digital watch but with a press of a button you will be linked up to the computer screen here so you can still communicate with us easily." He handed each teen a small bud that would easily fit in their ears and a digital watch with colourful strap each in their respective colours.
"Thanks professor. Alright guys, let's get started."
"The transport we get into town drives down this road here and Fuzzy's land is only a couple of miles off it roughly here. What you could do is hitch a ride with us and you can get off around here and walk rest of the way."
"I know where to go from there." Boomer said.
"Okay great let's do that. The bus leaves tomorrow afternoon." Ms Bellum finished. She left quickly after to let the two teens organise the other side of things; camping.
"You ever went camping before?" Boomer asked Bubbles who shook her head.
"Have you?"
"I guess you could say I have. After the whole Him rejecting us thing, Mojo stormed off but he didn't stop. He kept going saying he wasn't staying in Townsville anymore and we ended up having to sleep outside a few times until the monkey calmed down and found us somewhere to stay permanently."
"That must have hurt?"
"We were angry more than anything. We couldn't see why we weren't as good as you girls. I mean we are counterparts. We should be similar in all aspects only difference was we were evil. We were made to be villains and you were the heroes. We were willing to follow his orders but he merely laughed in our faces and told Mojo to leave. When Mojo asked why he didn't want us he simply said we were nothing like you girls. After a while we came to terms with it well me, Brick and Butch did but not Mojo. He still had regular fits about it. We were never angry with you girls. We were to start with but Brick said that it wasn't like you were the ones to say it hell from what we knew about you girls you probably wouldn't even mention it."
"We are a team now so we shouldn't be compared for competition terms. We are all pretty powerful and impressive."
"Yeah but you girls downstairs were amazing. You blew us away. Mojo would go on and on how much of a worthy opponent you guys were but seeing it for ourselves was unreal." Bubbles giggled.
"We weren't that good."
"You totally were!" Boomer said with an excited smile. Bubbles couldn't help but giggle more.
"Well if you say so. You guys were impressive too."
"We aren't the best team but yeah we can fight." Boomer said with a proud smile. Bubbles couldn't help but smile back. He had such a full on gorgeous smile. The boy looked like he had just rolled out of bed, his hair in a messy state. The dark blue t shirt he wore was rumpled with slight creases through it but it showed off his slight muscular toned arms and chest. His torn dark blue jeans hung off his jeans and to complete his outfit, his dark blue vans which he seemed to live in. Even though it looked like he threw his clothes on this morning he still looked incredibly handsome. Bubbles consciously brushed an odd strand of hair behind her ear. He may be shy but it was obvious he was comfortable in his own skin which Bubbles envied. She knew she was at least mildly attractive but after being an outcast for most of your life for the way you looked you doubted your appearance at every turn.
"So the professor told me earlier that he has a decent sized tent with two sleeping bags and a bag big enough to hold quite a few other supplies so that should do us." Bubbles said unable to take her eyes off the dark ocean colour that seemed to sparkle constantly.
"You do realise that means like two outfits top right and we might be there for like a week." Boomer burst out laughing at the genuine look of horror Bubbles' face morphed into.
"But but but." Bubbles panicked. She had always loved fashion when she was younger even though her family couldn't afford to keep up with the changing trends but she at least had a enough outfits to have a clean one on all the time. Now she was being told she was not only going to have to be alone with Boomer but now she was going to have to be wearing the same clothes, she was bound to stink. Bubbles could feel the blush starting to form at the bottom of her neck. Boomer stopped laughing when he probably noticed Bubbles face. He grabbed bother her hands and tried to calm her down.
"Bubbles?" Boomer was worried. He knew girls loved clothes and that they always seemed to pack way too much but insisted it was always needed but Bubbles was in pure panic mode. He had a feeling it wasn't the clothes.
"Smell." Bubbles squeaked. He relaxed slightly. The feeling she was hiding something was still there but at least she gave him something to work with.
"I'm a boy, I'm going to smell a lot worse than you trust me. But there's a river not far from where I thought we could camp we can rinse out the clothes there." Bubbles finally looked at Boomer and started to calm down. It seemed silly to panic over that but she knew it was because she was going to be alone with Boomer for that length of time. She had never spent time with a boy never mind alone time. The Blues looked to see that Boomer was rubbing small circles with his thumbs on the back of Bubbles' hands. Both heads snapped up at the same time but instead of stopping like Bubbles thought he would he carried on. Bubbles felt her heart quicken and butterflies form in her stomach. She could see a number of emotions in the Blue Ruff's eyes.
Boomer knew he should have at least stopped the motions, he should have let go of her hands but her skin felt so soft under his rough fingertips that he didn't want to. He looked into her sky blue eyes to see her slightly frightened. If he was being honest with himself so was he. They were supposed to be enemies but Boomer couldn't help but feel his respect for this girl grow.
"Bubbles? Where are you?" The professor's voice could be heard from the hall. Both teens jumped at the sound of his voice and pulled back from each other both sporting a bright blush.
"There you are. The camping equipment laid out in the meeting room." And left before realising the teens were staring wide eyed. Boomer cleared his throat and rubbed back the neck.
"We should go check that out." Bubbles didn't need to be told twice and jumped off her seat and headed for the door. Boomer followed quickly behind whilst releasing a deep breath. He knew that if his brothers saw what had just happened he would have got slapped in the back of the head again. He couldn't help what happened, what's been happening. Boomer watched as Bubbles strolled down the hall towards the big room they ate breakfast in. He knew it was a reaction to her physical appearance, she was the most beautiful girl in the world. The girl was wearing her bright blonde hair in her signature pigtails but they were curled slightly. The soft blue tank top she wore showed off a sliver of skin at the bottom. Boomer wondered if it would feel as soft as the skin on her hands. The skinny white jeans she wore encased her amazing legs and finished with a pair of baby blue converse. Boomer watched the gentle sway of Bubbles hips as they continued down the hall in silence. The time away with the Blue Puff was going to be a struggle and not because they were meant to be enemies. He wasn't sure if he would manage to keep his hands off her.
Buttercup took a deep breath and tightened her grip on the cold metal. She didn't like the feeling, the whole training session that had been set up didn't sit well with her. As she exhaled her breath she pulled the trigger and watched as the small piece of metal hit the targets forehead. The direct hit should have the teen celebrating but she simply lowered the weapon and stared at the bullseye with disinterest. She didn't like the idea of guns and how much damage it could cause with one slight movement. They were also loud and heavy. Buttercup had grown up in the wild, relying on her skills, stealth and knives. They were less harmful if handled correctly but everything could be over before the first body hut the ground. She realised it was probably a gruesome way to think but she had needed it before when hunting for animals for survival. It wasn't pretty but neither was her isolation from everyone in the camp and having to do everything for herself.
"Good shot." Buttercup didn't need to turn around to know who the voice belonged to. She had ignored his presence ever since he arrived in the training room not long after she had set it up. Buttercup placed the rifle down on the top and picked up a pistol. She looked it over and began loading it up. She had read up a little on weapons and how they worked when she found out the artillery used by the mercenaries. She turned and aimed once more at the sheet of paper. She heard Butch begin to walk towards her and it pissed her off. She was still in a bad mood with him from earlier so found herself shooting a few more bullets than she had planned but noticed they all had pretty much hut the target's head. She turned and dropped the pistol but before she could grab the next weapon Butch grabbed her wrist. After that Buttercup saw red. She grabbed the wrist holding on to hers and flipped him over her head. She then quickly pinned him down by his hands on the floor.
"Don't fucking touch me," Buttercup muttered menacingly. All Butch did was smirk which caught Buttercup off guard slightly. She had always been feared by most people who met her and the others well they didn't know her. But what she never realised was that she had left herself open by being distracted so Butch switched their positions.
"Just for the record I like being on top." Butch said with a devilish grin. Buttercup could feel a blush start to form slightly.
"Pervert." She said through gritted teeth. This response only made Butch chuckle.
"Oh Butterfly you have no idea." Butch had leaned in closer trying to catch the green puff off guard but the only thing it resulted in was him catching a whiff of her coconut scent. He realised just then that how much he loved the smell. But what he hadn't realised was Buttercup throwing her head forward which had him thrown off her. He stood slightly pissed at the Green Puff but before he found himself lunging at her he remembered what his older brother had instructed him to do. He crossed his arms and leaned against the wall he almost flew into. He chuckled softly.
"I think we are going to get on amazingly don't you think Butterfly?"
"It's Buttercup." Butch shrugged.
"I think I will just stick with Butterfly."
"If you what to lose Little Butch then yes keep up with the nickname." Butch froze as he stared at the green eyed girl before bursting out laughing.
"You are funny. I like you." Buttercup rolled her eyes.
"Oh great I can die happy now, this boy has expressed his fondness for me." Buttercup said sarcastically. Butch chuckled again.
"And you like me." Butch simply said. Buttercup grunted.
"Oh yes you are my best friend. Please. I would rather be friends with an angry bear."
"I think you are out to hurt my feelings Butterfly."
"Really? Whatever gave you that impression?"
"Your cruel remarks about our 'non-existent friendship." Butch said whilst placing the back of his hand on his forehead with a distraught look on his face. Buttercup giggled. She couldn't help it, he looked ridiculous. Butch smiled in response.
"See. What I tell you, best friends."
"In your dreams." Buttercup said with a small smirk. She found this back and forth with Butch quite entertaining. She knew she shouldn't enjoy it but it was refreshing to have a conversation with someone that didn't take her sarcasm to heart.
"Trust me Butterfly if this was my dream we would be doing more than just talking that's for sure." Butch said with a confident smile and wiggling his eyebrows which had Buttercup laughing.
"Pervert."
"Only for you Butterfly."
"I doubt that." Buttercup muttered whilst turning to look over the table. Butch caught what she said but decided to leave it. Normally if someone questioned his past relationships he would appear smug but standing with Buttercup he realised for the first time his past made him feel slightly uncomfortable.
"You should really practice." Buttercup said trying to shift the conversation for some reason she had a slight burning feeling in the pit of her stomach and she didn't like it.
"Nah I'm okay. I used to mess around with the weapons the monkey left lying around once he finished building them."
"Then why say we needed to train?"
"I didn't know you had experience with guns." Butch said with slight interest. This was an opening for the Green Puff to talk about her past and he hoped she would take the bait.
"Not guns as much." Was all she said with a shrug.
"Really? Then with what?"
"Nice try Butch but you aren't going to find out what happened with me and my sisters." Butch put his hands in the air away to defend himself but he was cut off by the green eyed girl.
"Don't. I do not trust you, your brothers and more importantly the monkey, which means I am keeping zipped about our pasts so if you know what's good for you Butch don't ask again." She said staring Butch down. She knew the boys were fishing. She wasn't the brains of the group but it didn't take a genius to figure out they were trying to find weaknesses. She had been having such a good time with Butch with their playful banter that she forgot the most important fact. He was the enemy.
"You have to tell them," Ms Bellum said throwing her hands in the air.
"I know but I just don't have the heart to." The professor sighed.
"They need to know before their missions start especially Buttercup's and Blossom's. You can't have them walking into that without them realising."
"Calm down Sara." MS Keane said to the tall red head.
"I'm sorry but you know this will jeopardize their missions if they don't know." The professor sighed once more.
"I will show them tomorrow before Bubbles and Boomer leave."
Hey guys I'm very sorry for the delayed chapter. I was really ill that all I did was sleep. I have actually never been that ill ever in my life so that was fun. Anyway a bit longer for this chapter to hopefully make up for it. I plan to write longer chapters also because if I did that from the start the boys would have been introduced a lot quicker. Again really sorry guys!
Next chapter: The girls find out what the professor has been keeping from them and the Blues put their plan to action. (Mainly Blues chapter)
