"I swear this isn't what it looks like," Payton said as she sat up, the other allowing her to. Tibalt chuckled at the look on the other man's face.
He smirked lightly, however and shrugged. "Hey. What's it to me if you get it on with a demon man," Abel commented. "Though you should probably do it in your room and not while your cooking your delicious cake."
Payton was as red as a tomato. "N-NO! That's not what...I was just...He...I...UGH!" she pushed up and hid her face as she walked in a hurry to check on her cake.
Abel crossed his arms and chuckled at her embarrassed nature, his main goal done for the night it seemed. He looked over at Tibalt standing up and cleared his throat.
"Don't let me find you hurting her...unless you like a bunch of darts in your ass," he said once he had the other's attention.
The words only met deaf ears. Tibalt wasn't intimidated by this human who had only just gotten lucky twice with his blind spots. With a scoff he turned and walked back to the kitchen just to bother the girl about what Abel had said.
Abel sighed and rolled his aching shoulders as he made his way to his room. On his way up he passed Tezzeret, who he only said a short greeting to. He was exhausted so it took him getting to the top of the stairs for his eyes to widen in realization and to turn back to look at the other. Tezzeret had stopped about halfway down to turn and look at him as if he was the intruder, not the other way around.
"PAYTON! THEY MULTIPLIED! THE DEMON AND THE HUMAN HAD A BABY," Abel yelled before he darted to his room to hide from any rage of the others.
He heard them talking about what he had just said and heard Payton laughing her ass off under him, since his room was located over the kitchen. He sighed and went to take a long and hot shower. As the water hit his aching shoulders he thought about asking Payton to work out the knots there. A bribe of some coffee should be good enough for that. He snickered at the thought and stepped out after turning the water off.
He yelped and covered himself as he saw Tibalt standing in the doorway. His cheeks reddened but he caught his bearings.
"Look, I know i'm smoking hot, but watching me shower is something that will get you kicked out," he said as he decided that they were both male so it didn't matter. He was a nudist by nature anyways.
Tibalt didn't seem to mind as he started to talk. He wanted to get information, on all of them and since the other might hear, he was going to question about the female not there.
"I figured you wouldn't be back until after Mari," he started, "Tell me this: what is a girl like that doing with two people like you and the brunette?"
He growled a little. "What do you mean a 'girl like her'?"
He held up his hands "You misheard my meaning. She just doesn't seem like the type to be around a nudist and a hard worker. Payton is serious and you have two personalities, so what does she have?"
Cain growled again "Are you implying that we only have friends that are odd? There is nothing wrong with any of us!" He started to ring at the towel in his hands, his anger growing.
Tibalt bowed his head, knowing that a fight wouldn't be good right now, "I apologize that it seemed that is what I was saying. I just want to know more about everyone."
"Why? We don't know why you're here or what you all are. We should keep the pleasantries to the back so we don't get too attached."
Cain was irritated at this point as he pushed past the red man to grab a change of clothes. "But I am here early because of some remodeling they are doing. Mari should be home soon. If you want to know about her, you ask. It's not my place to say." he grunted and started changing.
Tibalt let out an annoyed sigh and he left the room, walking back to sit in Payton's room. He knew a lot about her just from being in there for a day. He didn't understand anything about them being there. Gideon kept quiet before he knocked on the door to Abel's room. A call to enter and Gideon went in.
"He wasn't harming anyone," Abel said as he tried to decide if he wanted to play Portal or Skyrim. He chose Skyrim because he figured it would be something the others could relate to.
"I realize this. I was wondering if you knew anything about why another walker is here," Gideon said, getting to the point.
Abel blinked a few times and played dumb. "What is a walker...? And no I don't."
Gideon saw through his acting, but he decided that if it was such a big deal to hide whatever knowledge he had, then perhaps it wasn't worth fighting to know. He walked over and sat on the bed, watching the boy walk to get a pillow from the bed.
"I'm about to go downstairs you should come with me. I think you'll like this game."
"What game," Payton asked as she peeked in, a smudge of white icing on her nose and face.
"Skyrim."
"OH! Let's make a Gideon character and the other's too!"
Abel smirked and both of them raced downstairs, talking excitedly about whatever they were going on about. Gideon blinked and followed the others down the stairs. A few good hours passed, most of it spent making characters on Skyrim. Tezzeret was even interested, mainly in the electronics themselves and what mana they used to power it. The only thing that could stop them from the sudden relaxed atmosphere would be an emergency.
The door slamming open and closed suddenly and Mari rushing to hide in Abel proved to them that their fun time was over. Payton saved the game and looked at her friend with a worried gaze. Abel pushed her back and pat her cheek so she would start blubbering like a lunatic.
"He's...following me," she started. "He's here!"
Payton and Cain got serious looks on their faces. Payton held Mari as Cain stood up. "He knows he's not allowed here...I'll take care of it." With that he stomped to the door and threw it open. Yelling could be heard outside as a tall and lanky male was seen being given his ass handed to him.
"What in the world..." Nissa furrowed her eyebrows as she spoke.
"Nathan...," Payton whispered softly. "He has been stalking Mari religiously for a year now...she used to date him and he didn't take the breakup too well..."
Mari was crying into her, shaking like a leaf. She kept saying something but Payton ignored her as she rocked back and forth. About a minute later Cain walked back in, slamming the door.
"He so much as goes by your job, he loses his balls," he snarled and then sat down where he had been and snatched up the controller, finishing the character for Tibalt and starting on the first part of the game. Payton got Mari calm and gave everyone a piece of cake and in some cases a glass of wine and an ale for Mari.
As it started to get later, Mari and Payton had fallen asleep on the floor so Abel covered them and set an alarm on Payton's phone so they wouldn't oversleep. He shut down the TV and Xbox and led everyone to where they could stay. Gideon opted to sleeping down with the girls and Abel decided to do the same.
"Aren't you tired," Gideon questioned to the boy reading a book by a lamp.
"I am an insomniac. After today, I don't think I will sleep for fear of that douchebag coming back."
With that they fell into silence with the rest of the house. Abel didn't sleep, he was too worried about Nathan coming back like he usually tried to do. No one hurts his friends...No one.
