Some changes I made to the last chapter: I originally stated Lexi as being slightly younger than Sam and Emily. That was a mistake, sorry! Lexi's thirteen last time I checked, but Sam and Emily are ten or eleven, still deciding on a specific age. Either way, Sam at least is certainly eleven. So I rectified that in the last chapter if you want to check. Either way I didn't make any major changes or whatever. Another thing, I probably won't add every single OC in every single chapter much yet, right now I'm just focusing on bringing out each individual's specific characters and stuff. So pretty much, Chapter 2 was like the Allison chapter, the last chapter just brought out everybody to light, this chapter is Mwape's chapter, and then once I'm sure I've gotten everybody down and can write them as well as my own characters, I can start adding loads of them at once. And stuff. One more thing, Sam has twenty Pickmons all in all, but uses the eight strongest ones to form Santoryou Kotemon. Just saying. Enjoy the show!
This is the Real Deal Presents:
This ...Is...SPIRIT!
Chapter 4: Long Day at Work...
Emily stared at a blank word document on her laptop monitor, the noises of the café around her drowned out by a large pair of Skullcandy headphones. Despite her best efforts, no ideas whatsoever came to mind. Just typing a single word was like swimming through honey. There wasn't even any point with her stunted progress. It was just no use; she couldn't stop thinking about all of the events that had hit her in the past few days, and even a chocolate milkshake from Benny's couldn't help her at this point. Yoshi was off on his own for once instead of by Emily's side. She knew she should've been worried, but for some reason she couldn't imagine him getting into any kind of trouble. She slurped noisily as she forced herself to push a key, then another key, and then a few more angrily. She stared at the screen, blinked, and then flopped backwards on the chair hopelessly.
"This is totally hopeless!" she screamed, attracting more than a few confused stares. Well, at least I have something down… Plastered onto the screen in bold text was a good fifteen minutes worth of work: blrgerhgf…
. . .
Sam stared at his bright orange Xros Loader with wonder. It had almost become a habit for him, to just spend minutes at a time looking at it with wonder. Confused and exhilarated at the same time that such a sequence of events could happen to him. On his screen was a picture of Starmon and next to that a picture of FlaWizardmon. Starmon didn't look like he had the energy for a conversation at the moment and most of the Pickmons were asleep.
Good thing digimon heal inside the Xros Loader, Sam said. But I wonder how FlaWizardmon is doing? Sam turned the dial on his Digivice, moving the picture of the Starmons out of the way to show the newly captured digimon. Now that there was more light, he could see him more clearly. He had brown straw-like hair underneath his hat, and on top of that hat, beneath the flame like top, a pair of round rimmed goggles with a brown strap. He was sat down at the top right corner of the Xros Loader, a miserable expression on his face.
"Sorry about trapping you inside here," Sam said apologetically. "But your Machinedramon was really dangerous, even causing problems for the human world, you understand?"
"Yeah, yeah, I get that. I was acting stubborn, I'm sorry…" he said.
"You don't sound very sorry to me," Sam murmured suspiciously.
"What more do you want? A written apology?"
"Well you don't have to be so rude about it… And here I was thinking of releasing you at some point but you can forget about that now!"
"What?! No wait! I'm sorry! I really am, I won't do it again! I don't even have Machinedramon anymore, I can't even do bad stuff if I try! And how am I supposed to return to the digital world now?"
"Huh? How'd you get here in the first place?" Sam questioned, sitting down on the edge of his bed. He held the Digivice in front of himself. "Reload, FlaWizardmon!" A green light flashed out of the Digivice, FlaWizardmon appearing in front of him. Honestly he looked remarkably human-like if he kept his hat low over his face and wore a scarf. And perhaps if he could stop the flames on his shoulder pads and hat he'd just barely pass as an odd carnival magician or something of the sort. He took a deep breath of semi-fresh bedroom air and exhaled.
"Feels great to be alive doesn't it? The fresh air in your lungs, the wind in your face, the-"
"-smell of dirty laundry in your nostrils," Sam finished sarcastically. "Now that's great and all but you still owe me an explanation. How did you get to… wherever we were?"
"What, Digi-Quartz? It was this green gem I've got here, but that Kotemon and your Starmon smashed it…" He pulled out a green crystal ball from his shorts pocket, bits of broken glass falling off of it as he raised it up in front of him. Whatever it used to do clearly didn't work anymore. "I don't really know how I got it, or even if a digimon actually gave it to me! Like, I was walking along, just minding my own business, looking for my cousin along the way, when suddenly everything went black! Next thing I knew, I was in Digi-Quartz with the crystal next to me and a note on top of that. It was weird since the note didn't have anything at all on it! Either way, it didn't take too long to find Machinedramon from there. He was sitting underground, deactivated for some reason. I woke him up and found that he would listen to me. I've been recharging his power trying to get him to become Chaosdramon, but I guess I should've thought of what would happen to your world if I drained so much energy from a parallel world. Sorry I guess…" Sam sighed inwardly.
"Well gee, that's helpful, you just suddenly appeared in Digi-Quartz with no idea of who sent you there and how… That's totally going to help stop that guy from coming back isn't it?" FlaWizardmon glared at him in annoyance.
"Well then, let's go find something to do!" he yelled excitedly, running towards the door.
"W-wait a second!" Sam yelled, point his Digivice at FlaWizardmon, pulling him back inside. "You can't just run around in the human world like that! If anybody else sees a walking scarecrow, they'll freak! First, get something to cover your face. A scarf or something, maybe some sunglasses as well, I dunno. Second, make sure that the flames on your hat and shoulders don't go off. It looks like you can control them a bit so just make them look like cloth or something." FlaWizardmon grumbled under his breath in annoyance. "While you live here you have to abide by my rules, understand? If you don't, then too bad!"
. . .
Emily sighed heavily. She was just about to give up since she wasn't going to be able to do anything anyway when her phone vibrated impatiently in her pocket. She pulled out a slim beaten up red Nokia.
"What do you want goggle head?" she grumbled crankily.
"Emily? Let's go hunting digimon!" Sam yelled over the phone.
"We can't just decide to go looking for digimon whenever we want!" Emily yelled back. "Besides, Yoshi's not with me so I couldn't come if I wanted to. Don't you have homework to do anyway?"
"Huh? Homework? Umm… Remind me which subject again?" Emily shook her head exasperatedly.
"The Science homework, a detailed report on the digestive system? He even made it at least semi-fun because you could write up a story with it, you know, the whole 'Journey of a Cheese Sandwich' thing?"
"Uh… Yeah, I did it last night. It was… Fun… Right…"
"Come on Sam! I don't feel like seeing you get in trouble for homework again! Just thirty minutes of your time, that's not too hard right?"
"I know, I know, I'll do the homework…" Sam hung up, leaving Emily shaking her head as she took another deep draught of her milkshake.
"He's not gonna do the homework is she?" she said to herself as she stood up, packing her laptop into her bag. "Well, I guess my stories can wait another day or two…
. . .
Sam hung up the payphone, the sinking feeling of defeat settling in his gut.
"I guess that means nothing exciting to do today?" FlaWizardmon said disappointedly. He still looked at total odds with everybody else and Sam was struggling to ignore all the odd looks they were getting. At least he looked remotely human since his face was covered by a long black scarf with red fire patterns, and the flame designs on his hat and shoulders weren't flickering like fire this time.
"Aw don't worry about it," Sam said. "We'll just go to the arcade for an hour or two and then we can get home, and I can do my homework."
"An arcade? Are there strong digimon there?" he asked.
"No, no, nothing like that! An arcade is like a kind of building where you can play video games and stuff. And before you ask, video games are like… Simulations… or something that people make so that we can have fun using them… It's hard to explain, you just need to see them to understand!" They exited the phone booth and headed down the street towards the arcade.
"So, in this arcade, I can fight other people, but in a simulation so nobody gets hurt?"
"Will you stop thinking about beating people up for a second?" Sam growled. "But yes, that's the general idea if you're playing a shooting or fighting game. But you can't use your powers, you hear? No fire!" Before he could protest, Sam took a right turn into a large purple building. "Hurry up if you want to play already!" FlaWizardmon entered the room, cool air conditioned air hitting his face. He blinked a few times as he looked around at all the machinery.
Arcade stations and video game consoles lined the walls, tables, chairs and the likes in front of them with kids and teenagers all hammering away at controllers, yelping and screaming excitedly as images flashed across the screens. Some of them showed violent battles taking place, people being blown to pieces left right and centre, while others had sports on them, while others still showed different kinds of battles. FlaWizardmon could've sworn he saw digimon battling each other on one of the screens. He nudged Sam in the side roughly.
"Sam, why does that screen have digimon fighting on it?" he asked. "Strange ones but digimon still.
"Oh, those aren't digimon, those kids are playing Monster Rancher," Sam clarified. "They brought their own memory cards so they could put their save data on it. Now follow me! This way! I've got a year's supply of free gaming privileges from winning a racing game so don't worry about a thing!" Sam stopped in front of two bulky old machines with screens built into them and four red guns in them.
"Grab a gun, I'll tell you how to play." FlaWizardmon pulled out a gun slowly, not really sure how to even hold it.
"I don't really like firearms you know…"
"Don't worry! It doesn't actually shoot! But it will shoot on the screen!" The screens flashed on, men all armed with guns appearing on it. "Just shoot them! Shoot them all and do it quickly!" Enemies fell left right and centre as Sam fired rapidly, enemies downed before they even had a chance to shoot back. Copying him, he began clicking rapidly, red flashes of light appearing on the screen where his bullets went. Five more of them jumped out of the windows of buildings, blasting rapidly.
"Sam! What's happening? Why am I getting hit?"
"Because you're not hiding behind cover!" Sam yelled as he blasted two more men with one bullet.
"You didn't even tell me how to do that!" Wizardmon yelled back.
"Press the button on the side of the gun and aim down!" Wizardmon complied, the sound of gun fire coming from the console. He released the button again, pulling the trigger repeatedly. Enemies fell, pixelated red blood spraying from their torsos. He pulled a few more times. Click, click.
"Sam, my guns not working!" he screamed.
"You're out of ammo, reload."
"How?"
"You don't even know how to do that?!"
"I DON'T USE GUNS!"
"THIS ONES FAKE, IT WORKS DIFFERENTLY!"
"SO TELL ME HOW IT WORKS!" Wizardmon's screen went red, YOU DIED written in black over it. "Just great! I died Sam!"
"What did you expect? You reload by pointing the gun away from the screen and firing."
"Gee, you tell me this now?" he grumbled.
"You still have three more lives! Hurry up and shoot the continue button?"
"Huh?" FlaWizardmon looked back at the screen. A countdown already at four seconds had appeared, and next to it was CONTINUE? He fired, getting back in the game. "Whoa… I don't know how, but this is actually pretty fun! Annoying when I die, but fun at the same time!"
"See what I was talking about? You should see me and Emily playing, we're the only people who come here who've ever finished the whole game, twice!" More enemies fell left and right, the screen moving as if they were running through the long backstreet alleyway themselves. A wall exploded, a virtual tank driving through it with what looked like a buffed up android sitting in it.
"Some kind of super Andromon?" FlaWizardmon asked.
"No, The Annihilator! He's almost impossible to beat!" Before any of them could even pull the trigger, the tank fired, both of them dying simultaneously. They entered the game again, blasting angrily.
"What the… Sam, I thought I still had two lives left, I've only got one!"
"He takes away two lives with each shot! We can't let ourselves get hit again!" Too late, even on FlaWizardmon's screen he could see Sam's avatar go flying through his screen. FlaWizardmon ducked behind cover, just to see the cover explode. He didn't even bother trying to fire anymore. Their cover was gone, he needed to reload, Sam was out of the game, it was hopeless. He slotted the gun back inside the machine.
"I got a Game Over screen…" he said to himself quietly.
"There was no winning that one dude," Sam said, patting his back. "But that was awesome wasn't it?"
"Oh yeah! Let's do that again!" he yelled. "Or maybe another on?"
"Or maybe you could challenge me to beat your high score?" somebody said behind them. The two of them turned around, and smiled.
"Mwape right, how's life dude?" Sam asked. Next to him was a child, dressed in a large purple jersey, jeans, and black boots. His hair was black and he had startling yellow eyes, as odd as that seemed. If Sam didn't know any better, he'd think it was just a normal child, but it had to be none other than Megamon, only with his helmet taken off and the rest of his armour covered up.
"It's pretty cool to have a humanoid digimon partner isn't it?" Jay said. "Mighty passes off as a regular kid, even when he's got his armour!"
"That way I can go anywhere with Mwape!" Mighty said happily. "Hey, you're FlaWizardmon right? Sorry about last time, it was just…"
"I know, I know, you had to stop my bone-headed buddy because we were causing problems for you guys," FlaWizardmon finished tiredly. "I get it already, I won't do it again. I'm just relaxing with Sam here."
"Alright, since we're cool, how about we have a game?" Mwape suggested. "Mighty's been telling me I'm too uptight all the time and that I need to relax. I guess I can unwind if I beat you guys at a video game. Whichever side gets the most points wins, you guys down?"
"Please, I'm always down!" FlaWizardmon shouted energetically, his flames flaring back up with passion.
"Yeah, down and out of here if you don't put yourself out!" Sam yelled, slapping him across the back of the head. "Alright, you're on! I'll just enter our names here and we're good to go!" Sam turned the console back on and shot the option that said team versus.
"Just to let you guys know, we won't go easy on you!" FlaWizardmon yelled.
"Obviously, we wouldn't want you using that as an excuse now would we?" Mighty said. "So prepare yourselves for defeat!"
. . .
"Man! I can't believe we lost!" Sam yelled angrily as he left the arcade.
"They even beat the Annihilator, we didn't even get to see him this time!" FlaWizardmon pouted.
"Still though, you're a natural at that game! If only you could remember to actually reload… and Duck for cover… And shoot the enemy and not me… And do everything else!" The two of them started laughing heartily when Mwape and Mighty left the building. Mighty was ecstatic, still thrilled at having won so easily.
"Yeah, that's the way we play! Did you see your faces? We totally mopped the floor with you guys!" Might exclaimed. "You were all like 'Oh no! We're going to lose!' and we were all like POW! And BOOM! Man you guys need to play more video games. Or rather, get a new video game to play!"
"Watch it buddy, just wait till me and Emily team up against you guys!" Sam yelled angrily.
"He's right Mighty, cool it," Mwape said. "They were pretty good, and Sam's got the second highest singles score in the arcade so we can't really say much. Though I admit, we did cream you guys!"
"Laugh now but we'll be back!" FlaWizardmon said. "And we'll be better than ever, we'll beat you guys so bad you'll need a body bag for your characters!" He stuck pulled down his bottom eyelid childishly while Might stuck his tongue out at him. Sam and Mwape tried their best to ignore their bickering.
"Hey Mwape, where're the other guys? I really want to go and take out another wild digimon right now, and that Machinedramon from last time still worries me."
"Well we don't really control the flow of digimon going in and out of the human world, so one week might have nearly no digimon attacking, while the next week will be too much for us to handle on our own. Lately it's been more of the latter so I wouldn't be surprised if a digimon suddenly bio-emerged in front of us, or if it's already bio-emerged…" The pavement beneath their feet began rumbling, the four of them losing their balance slightly. "I spoke too soon didn't I?"
"Aw don't worry buddy," Mighty said reassuringly. "I'll stop it before anything can happen!" Sam pulled out his Xros Loader already.
"Starmon, did you feel that?" he asked.
"All of us felt it brother!" he answered. "That rumbling… A Digmon maybe?" As suddenly as the rumbling started, it stopped again.
"That was too odd to be a regular earth tremor," Mighty remarked. "It's like its moving in a line somewhere. I can pinpoint its location and home in on it if you want." Mighty closed his eyes, a faint yellow aura glowing around him, barely visible. He pointed in a direction down the street. The group set off at a sprint, shoving past people in their way.
"Mwape, do you have everybody else's phone number?" Sam asked before he almost crashed into a very wide-girthed individual.
"Yeah, but who knows where they are right now. By the time we contact them it'll probably be too late. We have to deal with this one ourselves."
"Then we might want to get there faster right?" FlaWizardmon asked. "Then here's a trick I learnt from a fellow magician. A sort of fast travel. Only people with a lot of Digisoul will be able to see us moving. Everyone grab on, I'll lock onto the coordinates inside Mighty's head." FlaWizardmon grabbed onto Sam and Mighty's arms while Mighty grabbed onto Mwape. They all began glowing red, flames seemingly building onto their body. The next moment was almost impossible for Sam to properly describe, but it was like getting swept along by a current of boiling hot water. The ground beneath him left as they all flew through the air, flying past all the buildings and cars, over all the people. The world had a red tinge to it now, but Sam could barely even see the world as it was.
"We're actually flying!" Sam yelled, but his voice was lost to the wind.
At that very moment, Allison just so happened to be at a bus stop, arguing with the driver.
"Come on, I'm not going to go very far, and I've got a bus ticket to!" she whined.
"Sorry, your mother told me not to let you go anywhere," he said as he began to shut the door to the bus. "You really shouldn't worry your parents so much, trying to travel all over the place…" A strong gust of wind blew past them, papers fluttering past them as they did so. Allison looked up briefly, she wasn't sure why she did but it was a gut feeling, and there she saw it, the red flash of streaking light flying through the air. She couldn't see clearly but it was there, and inside it was…"
"Sam?" she said in confusion. As quickly as it appeared, the light was gone. That was definitely him though, even if she couldn't see the others who were with him clearly.
"Miss? Allison? Are you there? He-lllooo?" Allison snapped out of her trance to see the bus driver staring at her with concern.
"D-did you see that?" she asked him.
"See what?"
How did anyone miss that? I mean, it was fast but still, a big ball of red flashy stuff doesn't normally go unnoticed… "Uh, never mind. I get it, don't worry my mother so much, sorry."
"I'm returning here in an hour's time, do you need a lift home?"
"Thanks for the offer but I've got something to do," she said, hurrying after the light. She pulled her Digivice out of her pocket as soon as she was in a more isolated part of town. "Realize, AxeHounmon!" Bright blue light flashed as Handle leaped out.
"Whoever you need me to beat up has a serious death wish," Handle grumbled. "I was just in the middle of a nap…"
"Never mind that Handle," Allison said. "Do you think you can sniff out Sam's scent from here?"
"Please, who do you think I am? That boy reeks of boundless energy and a lack of adequate soap, I could sniff him out from miles away."
"Alright then, digivolve to SangLoupmon and lets go after him!"
. . .
Sam, FlaWizardmon, Mwape and Megamon all landed finally in the middle of a football stadium. Luckily there weren't any games on at the time, otherwise trying to hide their digimon in action would've been a very serious problem. Sam stood up dizzily, barely able to stay on two feet.
"Heh? Why've we stopped?" he queried.
"According to Mighty, this is where that guy is gonna resurface," Mwape said, seemingly unfazed from the whole experience.
"Quick, Mighty, where's he gonna resurface?" Sam asked urgently. Mighty scanned the ground before pointing at a spot to his right. The pebbles above the ground were already trembling as whatever was beneath was about to resurface. Sam pointed his Digivice at the spot. "Time Shift!" he yelled, the time-dimension portal opening up just as a large yellow digimon shot out of the ground and into it.
"I see, in case any bystanders notice the digimon," Mwape said, impressed that he was actually thinking ahead.
"Now to follow through, and kick that thing's backside!" They jumped through the portal themselves, the football pitch flashing white as they crossed over to the Digi-Quartz-like area. Standing in front of them was what looked like an enormous yellow beetle, easily the height of a small house. He had two drills on each arm instead of hands and a drill for a nose. No mouth was visible as far as Sam could tell. Two smaller clawed arms were below the first two, but these ones looked more like they were for decoration. His chest was purple but the rest of his body and shell were yellow with purple markings. His green eyes stared at the group angrily. It roared in rage, the drills on his arms shooting out of them like missiles. They flew around in the air wildly before flying towards the group. They all jumped aside, the drills barely missing them as they all collapsed from the force of the explosion.
"A giant Digmon!" Starmon yelled. "They nearly never get this big, this one must be a mutation!"
"Then let's unmutate it!" Mwape said. "Digisoul, Charge!" he yelled, yellow pixelated flames building up around his Digivice. Mighty became engulfed in data just as before. The data shell broke apart, revealing Mighty's new form.
"AdultMegamon!" he yelled. Sam held up his Xros Loader.
"Reload, Starmon, Pickmons!" Commando Starmon jumped out of the Digivice with his usual pair of eight vanguard Pickmons, all of them already prepared for battle. "Let's go partner! Show this guy whose boss!
"Right on brother!" Starmon yelled. "Let's go boys! Meteor Squall!" The Pickmons all flew towards Digmon, attacking him violently, but with little effect.
"FlaWizardmon, charge up the biggest fireball you can, we're ending this now!"
"Right!" FlaWizardmon pulled out his matchsticks, charging them both up with flames. A massive red aura covered his whole body, his normally grey eyes lighting up with fire. He swung both matches down angrily, flames flying out of then like a burning wave. Digmon put up his arms, the flames crashing against his armour with no effect. Mighty jumped up to the enemy, punching him rapidly, his fists nothing more than yellow blurs. Digmon guarded with his arms, each impact making a small dent in his armour. He roared angrily, pushing Mighty back away from him. Mighty's right hand morphed, forming a blaster cannon.
"Mighty, FlaWizardmon, time your attacks together!" Sam said.
"Right on! I'll show him my true power!" FlaWizardmon yelled. "Flame Ignition!" he yelled as fire gushed forth from his matches.
"Aura Shot!" Mighty yelled as a whole barrage of charged energy blasts were fired from his cannon. The attacks hit, knocking Digmon to the ground.
"Alright! Now time to finish it!" Sam yelled. "Starmon, Kotemon, Digi… Wait, Kotemon's not here," he said disappointedly. "So what am I meant to do now?" Digmon stood up again, new drills coming out of his arms, blasting the two attackers back to their tamers.
"I think… I've got an idea…" Mighty said as he got up, his armour scratched and burnt now. "DigiXros me and Starmon!"
"Huh? You and Starmon?" Sam asked questioningly as he looked at the two of them. This could actually work… He clenched his Xros Loader even tighter, Digisoul energy building up rapidly around him. He adjusted his goggles in preparation. "Alright then! Since you asked for it, Starmon! Let's show them our true power! Starmon, Pickmons, AdultMegamon, DigiXros!"
The two of them shot into the air, Megamon covered in a huge blue aura while Starmon and the Pickmons were in an orange one. They clashed in the middle, a burning red X slashing through Mighty's torso.
"DIGIXROS!" They yelled together. Mighty's arm transformed into its cannon. Starmon's middle hollowed out completely, slotting itself over the gun as it grew to twice its size. Even more Pickmons flew out of Sam's digivice, the usual eight not enough as he now needed all twenty of them. They attached themselves to Mighty's back, growing out of it like a pair of silver wings. Mighty shut his eyes as the power rushed through his body, before opening them again, his pupils no longer round, but shaped like stars. Finally, Starmon's sunglasses came off of him, revealing a pair of blue eyes, instead attaching themselves to Mighty's eyes, glinting as they did so. "Megamon, Meteor Cannon Mode!" he yelled, the transformation complete. FlaWizardmon stared in envy, his eyes large and teary eyed.
"Awesooooome! Totally cool!" he shouted excitedly.
Name: Megamon Meteor Cannon Mode
Level: Unknown
Family: Machine Empire
Attribute: Data
Attacks: Ultra Kick, Death The Cannon, Meteor Cannon
A Xros Up AdultMegamon who has attained his "Angel of Justice" form by DigiXrosing with Starmon. His Aura Shot increases exponentially dependent on the bond shared between him and those DigiXrosed, to the point where it can be said to rival Beelzemon's real 'Death The Cannon attack.
Mighty looked at his newly improved outfit.
"Wow… So this is the legendary power of the DigiXros… The rush is like digivolving, not quite the same, but still extreme!"
"Less talking Mighty, take out that Digmon!" Mwape yelled. Mighty looked Digmon in the eye, the Digmon backing off slightly from the oppressive aura Mighty was giving off.
"Foolish creature, I pity you. Whatever means you used to get to the human world must have driven you to the brink of insanity… I cannot allow you to reign here! I will send you back to your own world with the power obtained from my fellow brothers!" Mighty blinked twice in surprise, then shook his head. "Brothers huh… Must be Starmon talking inside of me…"
"Hurry up and beat this guy!" Starmon yelled.
"Uh, right." Mighty leaped in the air as a drill was sent in his direction, fanning his wings out as he did so. The drill exploded, blowing him into the air from the gust. He aimed his cannon at Digmon, firing a barrage of shots at him angrily. Digmon took the full brunt of the attack, this time even he was unable to stop it. He collapsed to the ground, burn marks all over him. "It's over for you!" Mighty yelled, his cannon glowing with a swirling mix of orange and blue. The Pickmons in his wings began glowing red with power. "Meteor Cannon!" he screamed as he fired, the recoil almost knocking him over, the only thing saving him being the Pickmon wings, spread out for support. A yellow arrow like attack came out of the cannon, before splitting into a whole hailstorm of energy blasts, shredding right through Digmon in the process. Digmon screamed in pain, flecks of armour chipping off of him before his data disintegrated completely.
"Alright! We did it!" Sam yelled enthusiastically. Mighty's gun shrunk again and transformed back into his regular hand, Starmon still placed around it like a bracelet.
"Hey Mwape, can I keep this?" Mighty said, half-jokingly.
"I'm a living digimon!" Starmon yelled angrily, physically moving Mighty's hand so he could look at him angrily.
"Sorry, sorry, I was just kidding!" Mighty said, rubbing the back of his head.
"You better be," Sam said sternly as he broke the DigiXros, Mighty reverted back to his rookie level. "Else I'll be one digimon short! Hey wait a second… What's that thing over there?" Sam pointed at what looked like a large grey egg with purple ring patterns on it.
"Oh that, that's a Digi-Egg," Mwape said as he went to pick it up. "When a digimon dies, it normally returns to the digital world where it's reborn in a day-care centre somewhere as a Digi-Egg. But if for some reason the data can't detect a path to the digital world, it reverts to a Digi-Egg in the same spot it died. I'll take care of this guy. Jay will probably find a good port to send it to the digital world through."
"Well, I guess we should leave now right?" Sam asked as he held up his Digivice. "Time Shift!" The portal opened again as expected and all of them stepped back out into broad daylight. FlaWizardmon sighed heavily.
"What's wrong buddy?" Sam asked.
"I was totally useless here," he remarked, defeat in his voice.
"Oh come on, that thing was big! You managed to deal damage on him anyway!"
"Yeah, but not the way Mighty and Starmon did once they DigiXrosed, and Starmons a Starmon! No offence…"
"Offence taken," Starmon grumbled.
"Sam! Sam! Saaam!" a familiar voice screamed. Everyone turned to the source of the voice to see Allison riding on Sangloupmon's back. Behind her was Jay and Bitemon, and Lexi and Gatomon. Allison jumped off of Sangloupmon's back and sprinted to the group. She began talking animatedly with no signs of stopping. "Okay, I got the crew together and everything! Where's the guy who we're supposed to be taking out huh? Where is he?"
"Allison," Sam interrupted, with no effect.
"Does he have backup? Me and Handle can take on the big guys while you take on the grunts. It'll be a night to remember! Or an afternoon to remember…"
"Allison," Sangloupmon said, trying to get her attention as well.
"I couldn't find Emily anywhere since I forgot to get her number, and Ryuga won't pick up the phone, but…"
"Allison!" they all screamed together. She stopped immediately.
"We've already beaten the guy," Mwape said with a smile as he showed them Digmon's egg.
"Looks like we arrived just a little too late," Jay said.
"What? I missed all the action? No fair!" she said, pouting. Sangloupmon shook his head.
"Come on Allison, let's go. I'll get to fight another day."
"Fine… But next time you guys have to call me alright?" she said. "Especially you Sam, you're the one who'll need the most help in battle being partnered up with a support digimon."
"What do you mean by that?" Sam shot back angrily. "And besides, I've also got FlaWizardmon on my side remember? The guy I captured the other day?" FlaWizardmon waved awkwardly.
"You actually managed to make friends with him?" Lexi asked in surprise. "I thought you would be one of those people who just hunts digimon to increase your collection, not actually so that you could be friends…"
"I don't really like the idea of capturing digimon," Sam said. "That's why I didn't catch this guy. I just want to make friends with them at the end of the day, and FlaWizardmon didn't really seem like a bad guy…"
"Plus, you were just testing out your capture function since you didn't even know how to capture digimon," Mwape pointed out cheekily.
"Hey!"
"Relax, I'm just messing with yeah!" Sam yawned, his mouth almost stretching to the size of his whole face.
"But man am I tired… I'll catch up with you guys later," Sam said. "FlaWizardmon, can you transport me back to my place?"
"Too easy!" he shouted. The Starmons all returned inside the Xros Loader while Sam grabbed onto FlaWizardmon. In a red flash of light, they shot into the air like a streaking comet, leaving the group of tamers behind, the wind from their take off making their clothes and hair billow.
"So… we have to walk all the way home?" Lexi asked, her legs already feeling like jelly just thinking about it.
. . .
"Uh, I think I've had enough adventuring for today," Sam said as he opened his bedroom door. He flopped down on his bed in exhaustion, his muscles refusing to respond to anything anymore. "I think I'll just call it an early night…"
"Not so fast," Emily interrupted as she entered the room. "You still need to do that science homework!" Sam groaned. He'd completely forgotten about it.
"Come on Em, can't you just leave me to get in trouble this one time? I've had a really long day, I can't possible do work!"
"No! I cannot and will not! You're not the only one who had a long day! Now lets get your books out and do some science homework! I'm not doing it for you!" Sam whimpered silently to himself.
She's not going to let me out of this one is she? When did my life get so frustrating?...
