Chapter Two: Bella's POV

We've been walking and goofing around with each other for a moment when I stop. There, right in front of me, is a large, dark, bird-like horse with giant wings attached to our carriage as if it's meant to pull us towards the castle. I frown and closely examine the creature set before me, ignoring Harry and the rest of the lot. Never before have I seen such an unusual and interesting animal. How have I not noticed them before? I frown even more at this thought. Surely I would have noticed that these animals were pulling the carriages before. They look pretty unforgettable with their blank white eyes, dragonish looking faces, long manes, and skeletal bodies.

"Bella, what are you doing?" Hermione queries, looking at me as though she's deeply concerned for me.

"What is that creature pulling the carriages?" I ask, ignoring her question as it was obviously self-explanatory.

"There's nothing there," Ron says, looking at me uneasily as Hermione nods in agreement.

Both seem to be questioning my sanity, but there's one dark-haired boy who doesn't seem to agree with Hermione and Ron. I look to said boy and raise a brow at him, expecting an explanation. However, instead of giving me an explanation, Harry shrugs and ushers all three of us into the carriage. I pout, but I don't argue and, soon, we arrive at Hogwarts. The familiar and soothing environment helps to improve my mood dramatically. No longer am I pouty and mildly grumpy, but I'm practically bouncing off of the walls in my excitement. However, Harry, Hermione, and Ron are all oddly quiet. I sigh. If the twins were here right now, we'd all be laughing and joking around. Fred, George, and I would all be laughing loudly at random intervals as we planned our next prank. I squint my eyes as I ponder upon what'll get my friends back into their chipper moods.

"'Mione, we're going to the library to find some reading material as soon as possible! Ron, I think it's about time we've had that food contest in the Great Hall!"

Hermione smiles and bobs her head excitedly in response to my plans for her and I. However, Ron's reaction's a bit different. He's suddenly extremely boisterous and loud, "Bloody hell, Bella, I almost forgot about that promise!"

I laugh and turn to Harry. There's absolutely no doubt in the world that he's wondering what I have in store for him. "As for you, we'll sort that out later," I say seriously before hopping out of the carriage. "Race you to the Great Hall, Ron! Who ever gets there first gets a minute head start in the food contest!"

It's with a giggle and a shout of protest from Ron that we're off and running. I grin as I sprint my way through the castle and to the Great Hall with Ron shouting curse words and complaining from behind as he attempts to catch up with me. I may be out of shape and he may be taller than me, but I'm still faster. It's this thought that encourages me to run even faster. I will definitely have to pick up running again. The hobby has most certainly been missed and it comes in handy when you're best friend is always being sought after by evil wizards and witches.

~Time Skip~

The sorting is finished and everyone has had their fill of our first Hogwarts meal of the year. Ron is still griping about losing to my lady-like, but superior eating skills as the rest of the hall continues to make small talk in wait for Professor Dumbledore to dismiss us to our dormitories. I, however, scan the Great Hall and revel in the fact that I am finally home. I catch a few people's eyes and receive a few glares from the Slytherin. One glare that find particularly amusing had been from Draco Malfoy. I winked at him rather saucily and his cheeks seemed to have lit up like a Christmas tree. I cannot tell whether I've surprised him or angered him. He absolutely abhors when I embarrass or surprise him in public. I silently laugh, thinking about what he must be thinking. My thoughts of amusement are interrupted when a hush falls across the room.

I look up and see that Professor Dumbledore has stood to make his speech for the night, but I get a feeling that, judging by the sparkle of mischief in his twinkling blue eyes, there's going to be something special he has in store for us. I can't help but ignore what all he has to say until he makes the announcement, "I would also like to share with you all some news." At this time, Dumbledore peers at me with a knowing look and I can't help but to frown. "This year at Hogwarts, we will have some very unique guests who will be attending our school. The leaders of these guests are very close friends of mine so I would like to see to it that you all will treat them with respect. Members of the staff, students, may I introduce to you the Cullen's and Denali's."

The Great Hall doors swing open and reveal seven very pale faces that I had never planned on seeing again along with five others that I do not recognize. My chest feels as though someone has punched a hole right through where my heart is and I have to look away from the sight of them.

Dumbledore brought twelve vampires to Hogwarts. I think he's gone completely bonkers!
