Oliver contemplates Holly's silence after mailing the letter, Shane's emotional retreat in the face of his refusal of her heart, and a potential rival for Shane's love. Recommend reading Second Thoughts and Third Thoughts prior to this one (and a rewatch of For Christmas is a definite must).

Someone posed the question a while back asking what the conversation inside the car, at the end of For Christmas, must have been to convince Shane, Rita and Norman to return to the DLO. Ideas started swirling and I decided to write my first fan fiction for SSD. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

This is a little piece of fluff that has been rolling around my head ever since I saw 'The Vows We Have Made' and a twitter discussion reminded me of it. I think that Shane planned a different present before all of the stuff with Dunbarton happened. What was it? Here is my take on what it might be.

When we left Shane and Oliver at the end of Impossible Dream, they were on the same page, happily saying "I love you" without words. But in From the Heart, they seemed to not only be on different pages but possibly reading different books. So what happened? Maybe something like this ... I have put to paper something that has been rattling around for a while. I really like to know the etymology of words (I was forced to learn Greek and Latin roots as a child and am thankful I did). The meanings of names is also interesting, and although I know other authors have played on this same field, here is my humble attempt. What would Shane and Oliver call a child?
