Chapter 2: the morning after

Grace awoke slowly, the first thing that she noticed was that she wasn't in her own bed or alone for that matter. Then suddenly last night's activities came rushing back to her mind. She not only made out with Eli but she had sex with him. The realization was a shock to her system. Eli moved slowly, he put his arms around her waist, pulling her body closer to him. He didn't regret anything about the previous night spent with Grace but he wasn't sure how she felt about it.

"Grace, are you awake yet?"

She responded softly, "Yea, I'm awake, do you want to talk about last night?"

"Yea, I think that we should talk about it."

They looked at one another as if neither one knew what to say next. Before they could even say another word to one another, they heard Grace's aunt Judy yelling in the living room.

"Hey, Grace, Eli, where are you kids at?"

They immediately jumped apart and started looking for their clothes. Grace ran towards her room; which was thankfully down the hall. She made it inside the room before her aunt ascended up the stairs towards her. She knocked on her door but Grace pretended to just wake up. She quickly threw on a bath robe to cover up the bra and panties that she was wearing. She couldn't find her clothes from last night, which is why she bolted towards her room in such a hurry.

She opened the door slowly and said, "Oh, hey aunt Judy, I didn't hear you come in last night. Did you sleep fine?"

"Yes, I slept fine but didn't Eli tell you that I called last night? I told him to tell you that I wouldn't be back until this morning. The storm kept me away, I hope that it didn't distress you too much."

"No, it was fine and he did mention it but I forgot about it. I'm just really tired still, I think that Eli is still asleep, if he even came home last night because I didn't hear him come in last night."

"Ok that's fine, you can go back to sleep, while I go check on him ok?"

With that Judy went towards Eli's room. He quickly tried to hid all trace of Grace being in his bed. She knocked softly on his door. Unlike Grace he didn't care about what Judy thought of him; which is why he opened the door wearing nothing but his boxer shorts.

"Eli, I wasn't sure if you were home or awake for that matter. Were you and Grace ok alone last night?"

He smiled like he had a secret, then he said, "We were fine last night, why is something wrong?"

"No, but my sister would kill me if she knew that I left you both alone all night. So could you please not tell her or your dad about it?"

"Sure, not a problem, I'll talk to Grace about it too, ok?"

"That would be great, thanks Eli."

Before she left his room, she saw on his bed evidence that most recently a girl was in his bed. It was Grace's shirt, it was still a bit wet and torn looking. She didn't recognize the shirt but she couldn't leave without commenting on it.

"Oh, Eli, if your going to bring girls over and sleep with them, make sure that you use protection."

His face turned beet red as he thought about last night, then he suddenly had this paniced look on his face.

One that Judy noticed right away, "You did use protection last night right?"

He tried to play it off as he said, "Sure, of course I did but how do you know that I had a girl over last night?"

"Well, if you didn't want me to know than you should've been better at getting rid of the evidence. You know the wet shirt on your bed, I don't think that is your color unless you like purple."

"Oh, yea, I knew that I would forget something. It was just one of those nights, I wasn't expecting that to happen, it just did."

"Right, so where was Grace when this happened?"

"She was asleep, I think but I'm not sure, I came home really late last night."

"Really because when we talked it was early and you didn't mention anything about going anywhere."

"It was a spur of the moment, besides me and Grace were having a fight and I left to give her space. Then I came back with a girl that I picked up in a bar. You don't want to hear the rest do you?"

"No, of course not but you did use protection right?"

"If I'm being honest, I don't remember, if I did or not. I have a question, if I didn't you know use protection, what are the chances of her being pregnant?"

"Wow, that's not what I thought you were going to say but the chances depend on a couple of things such as, did she just have her period or was it awhile ago? Was it her first time?"

"I don't know about her period or anything like that but I think it was her first time. What do you think the chances are that she's pregnant?"

"Eli, I don't really know for certain, what the chances are that she's pregnant. If you had more information about the girl, I would be able to help you. What is her name even?"

"It's not important."

"Right, this girl that you think maybe might be pregnant by you. Wait, why didn't I think of this before, if you did have unprotected sex with a girl last night, all she has to do is take the morning after pill before today is over, ok?"

He smiled and said, "Thanks, Judy that helped me out a lot. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get dressed and go see about a girl ok?"

She merely nodded her head and left his room. He breathed a sigh of relief and then he got dressed and left in search of the morning after pill. He found it quite easily but he had to drive at least two towns over because he didn't want to run into anyone that knew him. By the time that he got back to the house, Grace was in the kitchen eating breakfast.

"Your back, finally about time. I thought that you would never come back, what took so long anyways and where were you?"

He pulled her towards him possessively in an embrace and started kissing her sweetly.

She pulled away breathlessly and said, "We can't do this, my aunt is in the next room, Eli. Now tell me where you were earlier?"

"I had to go get something for you to take."

"What are you talking about?"

"Well, Judy pointed out the fact that protection is important while having sex with someone and it never even crossed my mind."

"Wait, why would she say something like that?"

"Well, she kind of knows about me having company last night."

Grace looked embarrassed as she covered her face with her hands and said, "Oh, my God she doesn't know that it was me with you last night, does she?"

"No, of course not, I covered for you but I had to tell her something after she saw your shirt on my bed."

"What did you tell her?"

"I told her that I had a sleazy one night stand with some girl hardly worth mentioning. Then she brought up the subject of being careful and using protection, which made me realize that we didn't use anything."

"Oh, my God, do you think that I could be pregnant?"

"I don't know but there's a morning after pill that your aunt Judy told me about. Here, I got one for you to take, ok?"

He handed her a small blue pill, she looked at it but didn't take it from him.

Then she said, "If I take this what will happen to me?"

"Nothing, it is just to ensure that if you are pregnant that you won't be tomorrow morning ok?"

She shook her head and said, "No, I refuse to take it. If for some reason I am pregnant then it was meant to be. Besides what are the chances of getting pregnant on the first time?"

"More than you would think but if you want to take your chances on fate then so be it. Should we have that talk now, about last night?"

"No, let's wait until my aunt Judy is gone, she has a date; which means that we will be home alone again. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

"I don't know what are you thinking?"

"Well, I'm thinking that since my aunt will be gone for most of the night, that we should make tonight a memorable experience. We can have dinner, then that talk and who knows where the night may lead. Maybe it will end in your bed or mine?"

Eli smiled at her and then said, "Are you serious? Do you think that it's wise to risk getting caught after this morning?"

"It will be fine and besides I think that we need time to figure out whatever this thing between us is, before we decide to include our family into the equation first ok?"

"Fine, I agree with you but we have to be more careful in the future ok? I don't want anyone to find out about us by walking into a passionate private moment between us ok?"

"Of course I agree completely, we are finally on the same page for once."
