Don't Leave Me Alone

Chapter 2

As Robin whizzed through Jump City atop his swift R-cycle, he thought to himself, 'Another experience with this guy. Wasn't one enough?' His last encounter with this particular villain had resulted in him receiving a broken arm, and the world surrounding him had transformed into something that could have been drawn by a 3-year-old. It was still, however, strangely realistic.

The two female Titans, Raven and Starfire, flew horizontally above him, soaring to the centre of town where the crime was taking place. Cyborg sat in the driver's seat of the T-car, with his foot angled onto the acceleration pedal, and his sort-of sidekick sat in the passenger's seat beside him, taking on the image of a gorilla.

After the vehicles reached their final destinations, all Titans stood in their usual heroic stances, coming into a solid formation that showed how often they saved lives. All five pairs of eyes rested upon the horrible sight in front of them: their this-time targeted villain, Johnny Rancid, tearing up the city and zapping anyone and anything he saw with blazing red electricity.

"Okay, Titans," Robin gathered his teammates' attention. "Remember our last encounter with Johnny Rancid. Everything-"

"Yeah, yeah, your arm got beat up, everything looked like it belonged on my grandma's fridge, we know. But who cares? We'll be careful this time. Titans, go!" Cyborg interrupted his leader, and led the charge instead.

"'Kay then," Robin muttered. Skipping his usual pre-battle punchline, Robin followed his fellow Titans and launched into action.

"You again, Bird Boy? I thought I'd seen the last of you," Johnny Rancid sneered.

"You thought wrong, Johnny. This time I have my team with me, and we're way stronger," Robin countered. Despite his strong-willed defiance, all Robin's comment did was further increase Johnny's interest in defeating the Titans.

"Oh, pardon me. But please do keep in mind that I was the one who broke your arm. And I most definitely wouldn't mind doing it again," Johnny replied.

"I don't have time for this," Robin muttered, and hurled himself at Johnny. The villain easily parried his attack, and swung his massive, ape-like arm at Robin, his hairy fist instantly connecting with the teenager's left cheek, thus sending him sprawling. Johnny then cackled wickedly, and sprung upwards to create more disaster upon Jump City.

As Robin lay spreadeagled on the ground, he forced himself to rise up once again. Sure, the criminal was a bear of a man, (more like a bear itself), but would he let himself get pushed down so easily? The answer to that question, was no.

"Robin!" Starfire exclaimed, and whizzed over to her leader, scooping him up in her arms and completely forgetting about the trouble she had previously been preventing from occurring.

Robin groaned a little. "I'm fine, Starfire. We have to get back to battle," he said, and used his arms to steady himself as he got up and jumped back into the skirmish. It was fascinating how fast he was able to regain his composure after taking a blow; that being one of the many reasons Starfire had long since developed romantic feelings toward him. It was not, however, decided yet if he had the same feelings for her, although there were signs given every now and then.

The fight raged on, and the sky grew darker and darker. Streaks of indigo were strewn across the navy blue sky, until eventually all signs of the setting sun had vanished and faded entirely. Still though, it seemed that the end of this fight was not drawing near. Not even close.

Since the beginning of the duel, Johnny had taken his time in having a one-on-one with each of the Titans, Robin being the first. And now, it was Raven's turn. Johnny had her backed and blocked up against the side of a building using a tall, heavy metal pole he had ripped ruthlessly out of the ground, pinning the frail young woman hard by the chest, and slowly moving it upwards to her throat. More than ten seconds there, and she'd be gone.

"Ha! You may be an evil demon, but you're not even half as strong as I'd recently expected." he mocked her, causing her anger to boil hotter with every passing second.

"You don't even know the half of what I could be doing to you," she snarled in a deep voice, her scowl growing deeper.

"Oh, I'll bet. That's why I've got you helpless and up against a wall, isn't it? Pathetic. You're not even as strong as Bird Boy Wonder, are you?"

"You- you leave my friends out of this!" her voice trembled. "Azarath, Metrione, Sin-"

He was quick to cut her off. "Friends? As in, just at a brother-sister like relationship? Or is there something else there?"

His breath reeked. Raven needed to get herself out of this situation, and fast. "I swear to you, I will-" she wanted to waste no time. "AZARATH, METRIONE- AGH!" she was cut off from her devious spell and screamed, finding herself atop the ruined building she had been pinned against prior, and a small crackling sphere of blood red electricity sizzling inches in front of her face, where she had been just moments before. Raven was dazed, but only for a moment, as she got up from her position lying limp on the ground and fixed her gaze on the ferocious beast stalking towards her with a menacing and malicious expression on its face.

"Hey, you know what I just noticed? Both you and Robin have bird names. The Raven and the Robin, both cowardly "superheroes" who couldn't even fight one villain."

"Congratulations, you should win a medal. Took you long enough," Raven spat back at him sarcastically, slowly getting back onto her two feet and noticing that her clothes had been singed in a few areas, just like they had been on the anniversary of her birth when Slade returned.

Johnny's facial expression turned devious, and he lost the seemingly appealing fake veneer, and growled at Raven.

"Wrong move," he grunted. "Now you're going to pay."

And make her pay is what he did.

Raven was blasted into the air with a sizable amount of red electricity, it going pristine and linear white in the places where it burned with such high intensity. It was a wild sight- would have been remarkable, almost astonishing, if the scene itself didn't contain such horrifying events. Raven had been at the very edge of one side of the towering building, and in the next nanosecond, she was sailing far over the direct opposite side, gravity doing its assigned job and dragging her far, far down. How high up was this building- what, 1,000 feet? Consciousness slipped out of Raven's mind and body as she literally shot downwards, as the fierce winds whipped through her hair and sliced her cheeks and the breath and adrenaline was knocked out of her. She plummeted further and further with every second. Surely this would be the day of her death.

Surely.

Okay, so I'm officially declaring that, like, the best chapter I've ever written. Anyway, that was chapter 2. I hope it's got you on the edge of your seat and has you wanting to read more. (jk jk lol) I have to go to bed now, so I can't write chapter 3 yet, but when school finishes tomorrow and I get out of town, I'm starting right away. Farewell, my good people!
