Chapter 2: The Sludge Villain
"Hey!" Midoriya was regaining consciousness. He lay facing up on the concrete while the sun beat down on his face. Someone gently slapping the side of his face in order to wake him. "Hey!" His eyes slowly blinked open to see a standing figure above him. "Thought I lost you there!"
Midoriya was to shocked to speak when he realized that All Might, the #1 hero in Japan stood above him. According to the kid, the smiling pro was even cool in real life. He scrambled backwards as if not believing that this was real. All Might did not seem bothered by this as he spoke again, "I apologize for getting you caught in the middle of my villain hunt! Mistakes like that aren't normal for me, but this is a strange land to me. And besides, I'm off camera!" He laughed again and pulled out two large soda bottles, "However, thanks to you, I have caught the villain!"
The look of awe did not wipe of the junior high student's face until All Might said the last sentence. "Wait," Midoriya began, "Thanks to me? But I didn't do anything. WAIT! A-an autograph I-" He scrambled to get his note book and opened it to an empty page just to see that it had already been signed. The amount of bowing that followed should have been enough to break someone's spine as he thanked All Might, "Thank you so much! It will be an heirloom, a family treasure!"
The young boy was saluted by his idol who then squatted down and prepared to jump. He did not hear Izuku trying to get his attention one last time before leaping high into the air. However, in the middle of his 'flight' All Might heard a noise and looked at his leg only to see Midoriya clinging on for dear life. They argued for a bit before the boy was told to keep is head down until they landed. As Midoriya did what he was told, All Might could not shake what the boy said about him not doing anything to aide in the villain's capture.
Earlier...
The sewer cap blasted up from the ground. Wind picked up speed from the force applied from underneath it. It clattered onto the cement as the #1 hero in the country jumped out of the sewer pipes.
He had been down in the sewers trying to catch a villain the had just robbed a store. There was a small set back when the enemy went underground, considering he did not know the city very well, but this did not deter the pro hero. After roughly half an hour, All Might had tracked down the thief. The villain had climbed out into a tunnel above ground to try and escape the pursuit.
All Might jumped into the tunnel, fists up and ready for anything the villain might do. To his surprise, however, the villain was already defeated. His liquid body was separated and splattered around the walls and floors of the tunnel. In the middle of the mess lay a young boy, one that looked to be no older than a junior high student. The hero decided to restrain enemy before focusing on the young boy.
The sludge villain was stuffed into two large soda bottles after the mess was cleaned up. Once that was done, All Might went to the child and picked him up. As the boy was placed over his shoulder, he noticed a burnt looking notebook that lay on the ground. All Might picked up the notebook and flipped through it, surprised to see most of the notes were on many different heroes.
Out side of the tunnel, All Might signed the notebook and placed it, along with the boy, on the ground. "So, this kid wants to be a hero," he thought, "If this kid can already stop a villain, he won't have any trouble becoming a great hero."
Now...
Taji was happily sitting at the dinning table in the empty mansion surrounded by notebooks and paper. After waking up from his nap, he had been drawing whatever came to mind. Most of which included monsters and mythological creatures that were surprisingly detailed and realistic. It had been over along while since Taji had arrived at the house, and still, no one but him was there. Thanks to that amount o free time, Taji had made a house of cards, a city of dice, and a large stack of drawings. Only the gods knew how he managed to do all of that.
When he heard the door unlock, Taji immediately dropped what he had in his hands and bolted to the entrance. The person took stepped inside only to get tackled by the child who invaded his house. "JS!" (Suga Junnosuke) The now identified 'JS' let out a grunt as the intruder barreled directly into his stomach. He chuckled and greeted kid, "Why, hello Comet." Taji's smile grew and he dragged JS over to the table. "Look bro! I did stuff!"
JS used his milky white eyes to scan everything that Taji did while running his beyond pale hands over several of the pictures that were drawn. He made sure that the long white cloak he whore would not accidentally knock anything over. He looked at the realistic monsters on the paper, most of which were demons and dragons as well as drawn exclusively in black and white pencil. The dice formed a scale replica of downtown New York, and the card house formed a mini skyscraper. "You've certainly made yourself at home, haven't you?"
"You said I was always welcome here." Taji was grinning from ear to ear as he spent time with the albino house owner.
JS chuckled for a bit and continued to look around, "Indeed I did. However, I believe I did ask you not to break in." He straightened some of the dice in the small city and turned towards his younger brother.
The younger of the two kept his cheerful demeanor and replied, "I didn't. The window is still open, and I made sure not to knock anything over this time." Taji went back to the table to resume his drawing.
"Comet," Taji looked up when he heard his nickname, "let's go for a walk."
The younger brother agreed to the suggestion immediately. He quickly cleaned everything up and put things away. He grabbed his backpack as JS took the keys and opened the door. Both headed out on their walk and picked up on a conversation.
Taji was happily skipping along the road as they talked. Every once in a while, he would even flip into a walking handstand or do a back flip, "Did you see what Sporadic did to the side of the Endeavor Hero Agency this morning?"
"I did indeed," JS respond calmly to the younger one's behavior, "The ocean was a mesmerizing image."
They made it into the city without anything unfortunate happening. "I know right, the paintings are awesome! Can you imagine being able to do that without being caught?"
"Yes, well, I wished to speak to you about that-" before the albino could say anything else, a large explosion went off. The two brothers raced to where the explosion went off and saw people watching as buildings in front of them burned.
Midoriya exited the building where he talked to All Might. He was devastated, his dreams were crushed as their conversation from earlier ran through his head. "Without power, can one become a hero? I should think not…..It's not wrong to dream young man, but just make sure your dreams are attainable." Everyone, and now even his idol, had said he is not able to be a hero. He sadly skimmed through his hero notes wondering if he would ever be able to accept it. Yet, when he looked up, he found himself at the site of the explosion from earlier.
'The heroes still haven't gotten the situation under control?' Midoriya thought to himself as he walked over to watch. His shocked increased when he realized the villain was the same one from earlier, the same one that attacked him in the tunnel. The sludge monster was attacking anyone that got near him with the quirk of its captive. The quirk seemed strangely familiar to Midoriya, he only realized why when the villain turned towards the crowd. The person who was captured by the sludge monster was none other than Bakugo.
Midoriya covered his mouth in terror as the people around him started talking about how the sludge villain was being chased by All Might earlier. He began to believe that he was the very reason that the enemy escaped and went on a rampage. It was his fault that All Might couldn't use his power any more, and it was his fault that Bakugo was captured. The scene unfolded in front of everyone and the pros were unable to do anything to stop it. Midoriya could not stand by and watch this any longer. He knew that he had to do something to stop it, and his feet started moving.
Midoriya raced towards the villain to help his classmate any way possible. Pulling a trick out of his notes, the boy threw his bag at the villain then began clawing at its liquid flesh. "Kacchan!" The kid shouted, not directing the words at anyone, "I couldn't just sand there and watch you die!"
Bakugo looked somewhere between surprised and angry. The nearby pro heroes tried to rush in and get Midoriya to safety as the villain raised a sludge arm above its head and drove it down towards the kid standing before him. The student closed his eyes and waited for the blow. But it never came.
The villain's arm stopped moving towards him, not by will but by force. "What?!" The sludge villain yelled as he tried to move his arm, but it neglected to move from its position. Everyone who could backed away from the villain as it got angrier as its liquid body was forced apart. Bakugo fell onto the ground and tried to catch his breath while Midoriya grabbed his classmate's arm and got them both away from the chaos.
Looking back at the villain, Midoriya saw it being condensed into a ball of slime, one that was easy enough for the heroes to trap. The fire was also being forced down, seemingly by the same force that had captured the felon. Eventually, the buildings around the alley were no longer on fire, merely scorched and black. Almost everyone nearby had their mouths hanging open because of what happened. No one moved for a long while until Desutegoro and Kamui Woods got something to capture the villain while it was still immobilized. The pros started to clean up the mess that was made as well as talk to Midoriya and Bakugo.
Half of the pros went to Bakugo in order to praise his strength. The complimented his strength and the power of his quirk. Many told him that when he became a hero to go to their agencies to be a sidekick. The other half however, berated Midoriya for trying to help. He was told that what he did was foolish and completely unnecessary. Soon the media showed up to film everything. Those who saw began to tell others about what happened during the clash. The heroes began questioning everyone about the quirk that was used and if they were the person who stopped the villain.
Midoriya tried to find All Might so they could talk. Unfortunately, the scrawny, powered down pro was nowhere to be seen. The young boy looked around at everything going on around him, then walked home with his head down.
