"So, you don't think there's someone out there you're meant to be with?" He asked, softly.

Red looked away, "Of course I do. Everybody has a soulmate. But they're usually on the other side of the bars, or the wall, or the planet from you." she smiled, sadly. "That's the way the universe works."

"You're not gonna be in prison forever. You got a future to think about."

"Our ships passed too late in the night for one of them to change course, Sam."

Looking to her left, to avoid his wet, wounded eyes, Red removed her bracelet and pressed the paper into Healy's hand. A small squeeze, a regretful smile, and she was gone. His gaze followed her, while hope, crushed beneath the stinking tramp of unfair, followed her out of his heart.

Red wandered a while, her small, sad smile still painted on her lips.
