Hey, guys! Back with another chpt. I'm not really sure if I did ok or not. I really didn't like this chpt and almost didn't post it, but went ahead and done so anyway. I just hope you guys really enjoy this. Well, on with the chpt! Enjoy!
This was it. The moment of truth had at last arrived. Tidus and Yuna knew that they had to bring this guy down once and for all and they were now more determined than ever to do so. Things were beginning to get personal for Yuna, for this guy was threatening the man she secretly loved and now he had her cousin and she feared the possibilities. And without a moment of hesitation, Tidus and Yuna sprinted over to their car, got in and raced off down the highway at top speed. They really had no idea where this guy was or his intentions. All they really could do was await his call and keep driving.
"Do you have any idea where you're going?" Yuna asked with a turn of her head.
"Do you have any idea where that car went?" Tidus countered.
"I have more knowledge of where this car went than you do driving around here lost and confused." Yuna spatted.
"I'm not lost and confused." Tidus said
"Then where are we?" Yuna asked. Tidus thought to himself for a moment and fell silent. "Exactly my point. Why guys don't stop and ask for directions is beyond me."
"Hey!" Tidus said, however, before they could continue their little spat the phone rang and Tidus answered. "Where are you, you sick bastard?"
"I'll give you a hint." came the sinister voice from the other end of the phone. "It's very long and the foundation is strong. It stretches out far across the sea. Come down it and you will find me." The man then cackled and the phone went dead.
Tidus growled. "Enough foolishness!" Then it hit him and he knew exactly where this guy was. Tidus swerved the car around, which nearly scared Yuna to death and he raced back down the highway, took a left turn without even giving a signal. A few cars slammed on their breaks and honked their horns at him.
Yuna looked back at the cars than at Tidus. "Are you insane?!"
"No." Tidus said "I'm determined." He gripped the steering wheel even tighter and raced down the road, however, just as he was about to reach the bridge he slammed on his breaks, for there in the distance was the car that nearly ran them over. The phone then rang and Tidus answered it.
"Catch me if you can." the voice said.
Tidus didn't even say a word. He just flipped the phone down, threw it aside and floor boarded the gas pedal. The tires squealed, Tidus' eyes narrowed and Yuna held on for dear life as the car headed off at top speed. The other car took off as well and the chase was most certainly on.
The other car swerved in and out of moving traffic and also switched between lanes and Tidus did not hesitate one moment to follow him, however, Yuna was cursing at him with every breath she took. Other cars honked their horns and dodged the two hysterical ones that came at them. Things went on like this for quite sometime until they came almost midways of the bridge where they ran right into a traffic jam. Upon seeing this, the henchman stopped his car, got out and began to make a run for it.
"Dammit!" Tidus cursed as he slammed on his breaks, parked the car and both he and Yuna got out in pursuit of Zanarkand's most wanted man.
Zig zagging through the parked, honking cars the henchman ran as fast as he could and Tidus and Yuna hot on his trail. Tidus stopped for a second as he tried to take aim and possibly fire at him to take him down, but it was against his better judgement because he could easily hit an innocent person. Therefore, decided to continue pursuit. Yuna ran on in front of Tidus, withdrew her gun and expected the worse. Finding it hard to run in what she was wearing, she kicked her shoes off while she continued to run and managed to pick up speed. The henchman continued to run as fast as possible, however, upon reaching a strange truck that was causing the traffic jam in the first place, he jumped up on the hood of it only to look down upon Tidus and Yuna who at last had him at gun point.
"Freeze!" Tidus demanded.
Silence fell between the three of them. His dark, hooded trench coat swayed in the wind as it blew by. He slowly raised his hand, grasped the hood of his coat and threw it back. Both Tidus and Yuna were shocked by the sight before them. Never did they even dream that things would have came to this. Yuna lowered her gun due to the shock she had sustained, however, Tidus was a whole other matter. He was more angrier than before and was about to loose control.
"Surprise, surprise!" the man said.
"Rio!" Yuna shook her head. "How could you?" Rio cocked his head to the side and smugly shrugged his shoulders. Tidus cocked his gun and was ready to start firing away.
"You better start explaining yourself, you son of a bitch or I'll blow your head off!" Tidus shouted out of anger.
"Explain what?" Rio asked. "There's nothing to explain." A helicopter began to slowly approach in the distance. Tidus started to climb up on the hood of the truck and just beat the living hell out of Rio. "Not so fast, Tidus!" Rio then took out a small hand held device that had a flashing red light on the front of it. "See this?" Tidus eyed it carefully and did not know what it was. "All I have to do is press this button and it's bye Rikku!"
"No!" Yuna gasped.
"Back off or the blonde beauty gets it!" Rio warned. Tidus had no choice but to back off, for he knew that Rio was dead serious. He shook his head as Yuna made her way over to him and grasped onto his arm. "Listen up, you two! The game's not over yet!" The helicopter continued to approach slowly. He then looked straight at Yuna. "You know I have your cousin. She's alive, but she won't be for long." He then gave her a sinister grin. "Listen carefully, my dear. You'll find your cousin in the second largest city in Spira, but you better make haste, for she only has three hours to live." The helicopter was now over head, a rope ladder was then lowered. "Hurry, dear Yuna, for your cousin's fate rests in your hands!" He then jumped up onto the ladder and grasped it as the helicopter took flight.
"Damn!" Tidus cursed.
"Tidus, we have to find Rikku!" Yuna said with urgency in her voice.
Tidus thought to himself for a moment. "That device he had. . ."
"Tidus?" Yuna asked.
"We have to hurry." Tidus said. "That device he had in his hand was to detonate a bomb!" Yuna's eyes went wide. "Time is ticking away and we only have three hours to find Rikku before it's too late."
"Rio said she was in the second largest city in Spira." Yuna said.
"Well, Zanarkand is the largest city in Spira. So, what would follow it?"
"Luca." Yuna said softly. They stared at each other for a few seconds and then sprinted back towards their car, however, they barely had enough time to make it out of harms way, for the truck suddenly exploded without warning and that's when total mayhem was released, for that was the first of many bombs to be set off.
Tidus and Yuna soon found themselves running through the hysteria of the people who were running for their lives. They stopped running and examined their surroundings. Suddenly, the part of the bridge that the truck was sitting upon and the very front of it near the club exploded at the same time, which caused a series of bombs to ignite and explode towards the center of the bridge. Everything collapsed and went straight into the sea below. The hysteria was maddening. People were running and screaming, their judgement clouded by the fear and shock that had overtaken them mind, body, and soul. Tidus and Yuna were trapped for sure. Their situation looked hopeless. They knew that if they didn't do something and fast, their fate would be sealed on this very night.
"We're trapped!" Yuna shouted over the hysteria.
Tidus looked around then back at Yuna. "Look! Whatever we do we've got to do it now and do it fast! We cannot wait!" The crowd was now rabid. Faster and faster the bridge exploded and collapsed. Time was certainly running out. Tidus then looked towards the railing of the bridge.
"Tidus?" Yuna questioned.
Tidus didn't utter a word, for he just grabbed Yuna by the arm and ran, nearly dragging her with him and without a second to spare they both jumped over the side of the bridge just as both sides of the bridge exploded in unison. Tidus and Yuna plunged into the sea below followed by huge pieces of rubble from what was once the Zanarkand A East bridge.
Tidus quickly surfaced, calling out Yuna's name who was no where to be seen. The waves of the sea clashed together and danced about like the waves of a stormy sea. Tidus looked above only to see a huge piece of concrete heading straight for him.
