Chapter one: a bird in a cage

A world stuck in a land full of ice and snow. This is how most of the people saw

the hard winters, but not Kagome; she would spend hours looking out of the window

wondering what lied on the other side. A school of children playing? A fox creeping

across the snow in search of food? A group of travelers that are trying to escape certain

death? All of these things often wondered her mind on days like these.

'Slaking off again?' echoed a voice that cut through her tough, 'if this continues

I'll personally make sure you are thrown out!'

'But….' She tired to argue, 'there is not anything left to be done."

'Don't give me excuses! Ugh! Why do you have to be under my team?' replied

Maggie. She is Kagome's boss, well secondary boss. She lives in a castle in a village a

little ways from Edo. She never was any good at being a maid, so she was giving the right

to study to be a ninja around the spring to summer seasons; she was a good one too.

'You think I like it any better?' she whispered under her breath.

'What did you say? Well if you like to be that rude I'll have to give you a job.

Maggie barked back: 'get to the kitchen now! And don't come back till dark.' As much

as she wished to argue she knew it would only make it worse.

A week later every one was preparing for the mid-winter celebration. All the

servants were busy as bees. Preparing the decorations and practicing entertainment. All

were either happy or too busy to know what they felt.

At this point kagome realized something, no matter how she looked at it, she

didn't belong. never know any family. No one ,to her knowledge, even liked her.

'I don't belong here…' she whispered in an almost crying voice' I can't even do

much around the castle, I don't even know who I am…… as much as my lord may hate

me for it I have to run away.'
