Vlad watched as Danny slowly got out of the limo, clearly still sore from the explosion. Finally, he would get what he had always secretly wanted: the perfect half-ghost son.

Yet as Danny pulled out a photo of his family and friends, Vlad couldn't help reflect on the irony. Sure, he got what he wanted, but it wasn't at all how he thought it would be. The boy was supposed to be happy, Jack was supposed to have died by his hand, not some stupid restaurant boiler, and Maddie… Maddie was supposed to be alive.

Vlad hated irony at his expense.
