Competition
Dean Fuller shook his head, "I can't believe I'm doing this again." He didn't want any part in Myers' pursuit of Agent Scully. Whenever Myers needed his help he managed to always drag up some favor from way back that convinced him to help.
"Agent Pendrell." Fuller walked up to the lab tech.
"Yes?" Pendrell asked.
"I heard you were sick yesterday." Fuller said, "What happened?"
Pendrell blushed, "None of your business really."
"Who are the flowers for?" Fuller asked.
"Agent Scully." Pendrell said.
"To apologize for pukin' over Scully's shoes I guess." Fuller said.
Pendrell shook his head, great now that incident seemed to have made it's way through the FBI halls. It was shameful, "Yeah." He said sheepishly.
"Well good luck to you on that." Fuller said.
"I thought you'd be on your friend Agent Myers' side." Pendrell ran his fingers through his hair.
"Nah, I'm just trying to stay out of this and let you and George duke it out." Fuller said.
Pendrell laughed, "Nice talking with you."
Pendrell saw somebody enter an office just to the left, but couldn't see who it was. It was a nice quiet ride down to the basement.
Mulder was about to leave the office until he saw Pendrell walking towards him, "Uh oh." Mulder turned to Scully, "We have trouble at two o'clock." He slipped back inside.
"What?" Scully looked up from her file.
"Agent Scully." Pendrell said cheerfully, "I just uh want to umm you know uh well apologize for you know well after umm yesterday." Pendrell turned to Mulder, "Can we have some time alone?"
"No." Mulder said flatly, "This is my office."
"It's Agent Scully's to." Pendrell said, "Come on… Please."
Mulder just shook his head.
"Anyway uh Agent umm Scully." Why did he feel like a blubbering idiot when he was around her, "I bought you umm these uh what are they? Flowers! Here are the flowers."
Mulder didn't know what to say.
"That's nice Agent Pendrell." Scully said, "But you didn't have to do that." Pendrell went to show her the flowers he had gotten her. Scully raised her eyebrows at the sight of the stems. There were no flowers.
Mulder cracked up laughing, Pendrell looked down at the stems in his hand.
"Nice stems Agent Pendrell." Mulder laughed, "Is this how you impress all the girls?"
The mood going up the elevator was the complete opposite to when he was going down. He was fuming. There was only one person that could be responsible for this. He wasn't sure how, but this had to be George Myers' fault.
It didn't take him long to find him.
"Hey you." Pendrell said, "I don't know when you did this… But you cut the flowers of my stems. You made me look like an idiot in front of Agent Scully."
"I don't know what you're talking about." Myers said trying to act all innocent. That was all he could get out before Pendrell began trying to force feed him the flower stems.
"These were an apology." Pendrell said.
Suddenly they entered into a wrestling match. Dean Fuller went to rescue his friend from the clutches of the read-headed lab geek. But that only made things worse because he was now being squashed in between the two agents, "Do you mind?" Fuller said as he tried to get out of the predicament.
Two agents tried to pull Pendrell and Myers away from each other. But it proved to be a difficult task, "Pull harder." Agent Jack called out.
"Hey." Agent Tony said.
Almost in synch, both Agent Jack and Tony were smacked in the mouth by flying fists. So they decided join in the fray to. It wasn't too long until there were several agents writhing around the floor, each trying to get out from underneath the other. It turned out to look like one tangled mess.
"Get off me." Someone at the bottom of the pile, "Get off. I can't breathe."
"Get up everyone!" Skinner's voice echoed through the halls of the FBI that caused everybody in the FBI building to momentarily stop work, "Pick yourselves up and head to my office… All of you." He then looked up, "Everybody get back to work!" Everybody in the FBI building quickly started doing work again, "Dean Fuller. Get in my office to."
Someone lifted Dean to his feet and sent him off.
Agents Pendrell, Myers, Fuller, Jack and Tony all waited in Skinner's office. Pendrell took a seat next to Jack while the others stood, "Hey you're cute." Jack said.
"Excuse me." Pendrell said.
Myers bumped the chair but Pendrell pretended not to notice it. He and Jack stood to their feet when Skinner walked in the room and there was a large chorus of "Sir" as he sat down behind the desk.
Pendrell hadn't realized that Jack had sat down in his chair and Myers had now stolen the other chair so he sat down on Jack's lap, "Excuse me." Pendrell exclaimed as leapt to his feet.
"Here you have the chair." Jack said as he got up and knocked Myers off the chair and sat down.
"That's enough!" Skinner bellowed, "Would anybody like to explain what you were all doing on the floor?"
The answer was greeted by silence. Nobody was going to dare how a small wrestling match between two agents ended up as a five agent pile up. Myers kicked Pendrell's chair so hard that he almost fell off.
"Agent Pendrell?" Skinner asked, "Ok you explain then."
"But sir?" Pendrell protested, but it was totally useless as Skinner glared at him, "Ok… Well it all started with me wanting to give Agent Scully some flowers. Dean Fuller here stopped me in the hall and we talked. When I went to give her my flowers… Someone had cut the flowers off and all I was left with the stems."
"Why would you be giving Agent Scully flowers?" Skinner was perplexed.
"Well you see… Yesterday I vomited over her shoes." Pendrell answered, "So I was getting her flowers to apologize."
Again Skinner looked perplexed, "You vomited over her shoes?"
"Yes Sir." He didn't want to give the reason that he was running all through the FBI trying to get the results to Agent Scully before Myers did. He had succeeded but at a personal cost, "I think it was something I ate. So I was mad about it so Myers and I got into a fight." Pendrell continued explaining the story, "I don't know how the others got involved."
"I was trying to break you two up." Fuller said.
"Enough!" Skinner yelled, "You all have an official warning. Anymore of this horseplay action and you'll all be seriously punished. You all got that!?"
There was a large chorus of "Yes Sir" from the five agents just before they were dismissed.
Agent Jack and Agent Tony nonchalantly headed for the elevator and went down to the basement, "You want to flip a coin to see who'll have first crack at Dana?" Agent Tony asked as he took a coin out of his pocket.
Jack just nodded.
A/N: Ok, I thought I'd bring in Agent Tony and Agent Jack from Courtship of Dana Scully to ad a bit more competition into the story. So I'm hoping the story's still alright
