Like most gossip, word spreads like wildfire, especially when it comes to an Agent's sexual orientation. Agent Jack had learnt to put up with the occasional teasing because he really didn't mind. He'd probably scored with people more than everyone. But of course he'd gotten knocked back probably the same number of times. With the help of background checker Michelle Harp, the revelation of Scully being a lesbian had travelled to almost everyone… Well, to everyone except Scully and there was nobody who was going to tell her right away that they knew.

Agent Tina Fieler was exuberant about the news of course. Not only was Scully a redhead but now she was a lesbian. Too perfect and she ran out of her office when she saw Scully go past.

"Hello Agent Scully." Tina said smiling, "Look… I know how hard it is at times like this… And I'm truly sorry that word got around like this."

"I don't know what you're talking about." Scully replied and added to the fact that she didn't even know who this young agent was.

"You know… People can be so cruel and immature to these things." Tina placed a caring hand over her shoulder, "Trust me… I've been there myself. You and I can go have a beer and talk about this. It's better to lay your heart on the table."

"Okaaay." Scully said, "I might take you up on that offer." She went back to the back on her way to the basement. But was stopped by Agent Pendrell, "Can I help you Agent Pendrell?"

"Can I have a word with you Agent Scully?" Pendrell said quietly, "Look I want to know if there are any hard feelings to me you're harboring. I can understand if there are. But if I'd known then, I'd never have acted the way I did."

"That's fine Agent Pendrell." Scully said, "I always did my best to keep my professional life out of the FBI."

"You certainly had us all fooled Agent Scully." Pendrell said, "Just to let you know… I won't be chasing you anymore."

"Thanks. That's commendable of you." Scully said, "I didn't realize my date would cause such a stir… But thank you."

"I don't want to lose your friendship." Pendrell added.

"You never will Agent Pendrell."

Scully watched Pendrell meet head back to the lab and she was stopped by Agent Tony, "Agent Tony?" She greeted him.

"You're looking and sounding much better." Tony observed, "Heard about your date last night. I think it's too bad really. I tend to think that any guy can get with a girl."

"Not with me." Scully said, "We're extremely happy together and we'll be spending the rest of our lives together. We're very happy."

"I know." Tony said, "But hey, I don't mind being a rebound guy either or we could have a you know?" He held up three fingers.

This earned him a slap across the face, "How dare you? Nothing could get us to agree with that. We're so much in love."

"Alright. Jesus you people are so physical." Tony rubbed his cheek and walked off.

Scully headed into the basement office and sat down. Was it a full moon or what? Because people were sure acting really weird. She checked her emails and there was one new one in her box.

Agent Dana Scully;

I know that you have chosen to live your life in private but of course nothing remains private for too long. Even though you're currently a taken woman I still wish to believe that maybe I still have a chance. As the saying goes there's no relationship set in stone. Honestly I thought I'd have to fight Mulder for your love, but since that's not the case I still feel as if I have the chance. I know the news of your lovely date… Who is really pretty of course, has everyone spooked, but I never spook easily.

Your fellow Agent
George Myers
No retreat no surrender.

Scully deleted the email and turned the screen off. What the hell would it take to get Myers off her back? And why would everyone be so spooked about her date last night? Something didn't seem right.

"Hey Scully." Mulder placed a cup of coffee on the table, "There you go… I made sure to get you one that's really strong. I heard that's how you love them."

"Thank you." Scully replied taking a sip, "I find the cups of coffee that they usually make too girly for my taste."

"That's right." Mulder said, "You like to have your coffee the same way a man does don't you." He cracked a smile.

"I didn't realize that had anything to do with coffee." Scully looked through some of her notes, "You know something? Scully asked, "The agents are acting really weird today."

"You don't say." Mulder coughed before he took a sip.

"A couple of days I couldn't get them off me and now today it seems they hardly wanted to know me."

"It all makes sense alright." Mulder said, "Why you didn't want them flirting with you." Mulder covered his mouth with his hand and rubbed his lips, "You know we're pretty close right?"

"Yes?" Scully raised an eyebrow.

"Why'd you never tell me about your date?" Mulder asked coughing again, "You know we can talk about anything."

"But you don't talk to me about every girl you've slept with." Scully answered, "So I don't see why I should."

"You got a point there." Mulder lowered his eyes and read the report he had in his lap. But then he snorted.

"Mulder?" Scully asked.

"Yes." Mulder was almost in tears.

"What's funny?" Scully asked.

"I was just remembering something funny that happened in Skinner's office on Wednesday." Mulder answered, "You really should have been there."

"What happened?"

"Well Skinner called us all into his office but then he forgot why he called the others in… It was like he was going to have a meltdown or something." Mulder laughed heartily, "Guess you had to be there."

"Right." Scully looked at him.

As if mentioning Skinner's name magically summoned his presence out of nowhere, Skinner magically appeared in the office.

"Sir." Mulder swiveled the chair to face his superior.

"Agent Mulder." Skinner said, "I just wanted to get your thoughts on something. Mulder noticed that Skinner was wearing a hat and found this very odd indeed, "I thought you'd have the balls to be honest with me."

"Sure." Mulder said, "It's a good hat."

Skinner just shook his head and took the hat off his head, "Well?" Skinner asked, "What do you think?"

"Is that a new hat?" Mulder asked as his voice was beginning to sound shaky, "You might want to take it back because the inside has fallen on top of your head."

"It's a toupee." Skinner said angrily.

"A wig sir?" Scully chimed in trying not to look up.

"Not a wig it's a toupee." Skinner said again.

"Right." Mulder's body was trembling behind the folder, he to was afraid to look at it again, "And what's the purpose of this… Toupee?"

"Does it make me look younger?" Skinner asked.

"Oh yes Sir." Mulder answered trying to stop his lips from quivering, "Makes you look real young and even more intelligent to."

"Really?" Skinner asked and was very happy with that.

"Oh yeah." Mulder nodded in a very serious tone, "If I was you I wouldn't say it was a toupee though. Just trot around like there's nothing there."

"Thank you." Skinner said before heading back to the elevator, "By the way Agent Scully I need to ask you. Your personal life wouldn't stop you from performing your duties as an FBI agent wouldn't it?"

"No Sir." Scully said in a squeaky voice.

"I want you to know that I understand." Skinner said, "If anyone mistreats you or teases you about your personal life just let me know alright."

"Thank you Sir." Scully just wished he'd go away and he finally did.

When they heard the elevator door close they burst out laughing and with tears streaming down their face. That was like the funniest thing they had ever seen.

"Probably won't be wearing it for too long." Mulder said in between breaths, "Probably will get sucked up in the air con."

Scully almost fell out of the chair, "If he gets any stranger we'd have to investigate Skinner."

Usually, when Mulder received an invitation to have dinner with the Scullys, he'd try everything to get out of it. He even tried gluing her to the desk once. But there was no way any glue, super or not, could hold down a rampaging FBI agent. He learnt that the hard way. But this time he couldn't resist going to this dinner. Even though Scully was shocked, she didn't question because it probably would never happen this easily again.

Bill glared at Mulder and Mulder looked at Bill when they had some time alone, "Hi Bill." Mulder said trying to tread carefully, "I understand you feel the need to protect your sister from me… And I get it now. I totally do."

"Oh you do, do you?" Bill asked, "What do you get?"

"I understand that you know your sister could never go with me." Mulder said, "Her date last night proved that. Her heart's not with me or any other male agent at the FBI."

Bill eyed him curiously.

"Yeah I understand it now and I'm totally happy that you've accepted her the way that you have."

"She's my sister." Bill said, "So of course we accept her."

"But so openly." Mulder replied, "Honestly, I would have never guessed that you would. Your behavior is commendable." Mulder shook his hand, "You won't have to worry about me anymore."

There was just some idle chit-chat occurred during the dinner conversation until Bill decided to question Scully about the date that Mulder had referred to.

"Oh, it really wasn't a date." Scully said, "I just caught up with someone I once knew."

"It's alright Dana." Mrs. Scully said, "You don't have to discuss your dates with us."

Bill didn't want to let it go, "So who was he? When are you going to bring him around?" He gave the third degree.

"I don't think you'd really want to meet him." Scully said, "How'd you find out about the date anyway?" She asked.

"Mr. Mulder told me." Bill dobbed him in.

"It slipped out." Mulder defended himself quickly.

"There's no reason for you to meet him anyway." Scully said, "It was just a get together." Bill Scully Jr wasn't convinced but this banter could go on all night and his mother was giving him dirty looks, "Can you pass the sausages please?"

"Oh really Scully? I didn't realize you like sausages." Mulder handed her the plate, "Do you want some of the onion rings to go with it?"

"That sounds great." Scully said, "Onion rings go great with the sausages." She answered.

"I bet they do." Mulder added nonchalantly.

Scully gave him a quizzical look, "Of course they do… They always do."

"May I be excused?" Mulder suddenly stood up, "I need to use the bathroom."

A/N: I truly am sorry if someone finds this offensive... It's meant to push the boundaries by implying things. I know it kind of gets sidetracked, but I thought that's how the story wrote itself.
