Mulder and Scully were on the case early the next morning. They were out in the field where the farmers were killed by a puncture wound to the forehead but with no blood. Soon they'd be having the bodies sent for an autopsy.

"So what's your theory…Scully?" Mulder asked but didn't receive a response right away, "Scully?"

"Sorry was just thinking." She said as she knelt down beside the farmer where Mulder was. Mulder snapped on the latex and stuck his finger in the hole that was bored into the forehead, "There are a few causes that could be attributed to this and would you stop doing that?"

Mulder pulled his finger out, "Sure… Fine… Whatever." He snapped.

"What's the matter with you today?" She eventually asked.

"Nothin'." It was a lie of course, "I was just thinking that's all."

Scully closely examined the hole, "Oh, my god." She said, "You're starting to sound really jealous Mulder."

"I just really thought you preferred the company of dead men." Mulder was referring to all the autopsies she performed.

"I thought you preferred the company of little green men." Scully snapped back. They could hear a car approaching.

"Though I guess there's not too many differences between a dead man and Agent Pendrell." Mulder shot back.

"Now that was uncalled for." Scully said, "I don't care what you think about him but that's hitting below the belt." The man who was taking the bodies away had to try very hard not to listen to the two agents arguing about their personal lives.

Myers couldn't believe his ears when he heard Mulder fighting with Scully. This was a major opportunity for him to step in, "Hi agent Scully." He said to her in the hall but unbeknownst to him, Jack and Tony stood behind him. Myers was more shocked that he didn't get a word out of Mulder, "I was just thinking… I'd like to take you out sometime. You know, just go out once and see how it goes?"

"Too late Agent Myers." Mulder said, "Scully has the hots for Agent Pendrell."

"If you weren't going to get with me." Jack said, cutting in before Tony could say anything, "I thought you were going to get with Agent Mulder here… But Agent Pendrell?" There went his consolation prize.

Scully looked at everyone one at a time, "Well I'd be an old lady before Mulder here ever does anything." She said.

The others looked towards Mulder for a response, "Well, I'm no Pendrell am I?" Mulder said.

They watched Mulder and Scully leave the area to continue what they were doing, "I can beat Agent Pendrell. That guy is such a geek." Myers said.

"You lost there Agent Myers." Tony said to him, "You lost to Pendrell."

"So did you." Myers retorted.

"There's plenty of fish in the sea." Tony responded evenly of course there was.

"And Agent Jack… You lost your chance with her to." Myers said.

"And Pendrell." Jack said, "But that means Mulder is free and as Tony said, there's a lot more fish in the sea."

Myers covered his ear when he had felt a draft it took him a second to realize that Jack was blowing provocatively onto his ear and acting nonchalant about it, "Do you mind?" Myers asked.

"No…" Jack said, "Not at all."

"Well I do." Myers couldn't get out of there fast enough and Jack just shrugged.

Scully had put up with Mulder's sulking all day and was actually glad for the working day to be done and was really looking forward to her date tonight. Pendrell was a punctual person and picked her up right on seven, "Your chariot awaits Dana." He said with a smile.

By his reaction she'd expected to see a limousine, "Thanks." Scully said.

"No problems." Pendrell said, "Tonight's going to be perfect. I can feel it in my bones."

"I hope so." Scully said.

"Don't be like that."

Mulder was on his way to his lonely apartment until he stopped at the traffic lights. Then it dawned on him. He was on his way to the lonely apartment and to his lonely life. So he turned left instead of right on his way to the restaurant. Sure, he wouldn't be entirely welcomed. But it was their fault for mentioning the name out loud.

He parked the car close to the restaurant and was surprised to see only one table made in the entire area, "Don't tell me he booked the whole damn restaurant." He mumbled, it was just so unbelievable. When Pendrell left Scully to go somewhere else, Mulder saw this as a perfect opportunity to get himself in.

"What are you doing here?" Scully asked as Mulder sat down.

"They say you don't realize what you want until you can't have it." Mulder answered.

"What do you want?" She looked up.

"I want…" Mulder thought for a moment, "I want…" Just trying to vocalize it was difficult, "I want you. I want you on a date with me. I want you, I need you, I love you." Mulder said, "I only regret that I never told you this before… That's because I never wanted to risk what we had."

"Oh Mulder." Scully said, "That'd never happen."

"It should be us two having this date really." Mulder said, "I know Pendrell's a good guy, but…"

Jack came out and poured some champagne for Scully then Mulder, "Here you are Sir and Ma-am."

"What?" Mulder asked.

"When we figured out we had no chance with Agent Scully." Pendrell had snuck up, "We decided to make you as jealous as hell so you'd fess up to your feelings."

"Yeah." Jack said, "By the way… I Want You, I Need You, I Love You would make a great song title." He smiled.

Mulder laughed, "I had no idea."

"Agent Scully's a great actor." Pendrell said.

Tony brought out the dinner and they left them alone to eat and acted as waiters to refill their glass or to do anything they need.

"I can't believe all this was put together." Mulder said shaking his head, "Oh man, you had me fooled."

"That was the point." Scully replied, "You should have seen the look on your face though. It was almost impossible to keep a straight face when I kissed Pendrell." She laughed now.

Tony came out with a guitar, "Now for tonight's entertainment… One song. Yeah just one."

He sang as he played the guitar…

Hold me close, hold me tight
Make me thrill with delight
Let me know where I stand from the start
I want you, I need you, I love you
With all my heart

Ev'ry time that you're near
All my cares disappear
Darling, you're all that I'm living for
I want you, I need you, I love you
More and more

I thought I could live without romance
Until you came to me
But now I know that
I will go on loving you eternally

Won't you please be my own?
Never leave me alone
'Cause I die ev'ry time we're apart
I want you, I need you, I love you
With all my heart

The group of agents never ceased to amaze him. Those lyrics summed up exactly what he thought with Scully and now she knew it. It turned out to be a perfect date and he wasn't sure how they pulled this off but he didn't want to ask. Magicians never revealed their secrets and that's what these guys were… Magicians.

Jack locked up after the date had finished and they cleaned up. It was fortunate that he was able to rope in a favor and get the restaurant for the night. Though he doubt he could ever pull that off again.

"You want to go and have a few drinks." Jack said to Tony.

"Sure why not?" Tony responded cheerfully.

"Aren't you coming Agent Pendrell?" Jack said, "Come on, we're going to celebrate good times."

Pendrell shrugged, "Oh come on Agent Pendrell." Tony said, "There are plenty of other women out there."

"Not like her." Pendrell said, "But ok."

They began walking down the street to the nearest bar and Tony began singing and soon they were all joining in…

THE END

A/N: I'm sad to see this one go... LOL when I wrote it, I didn't realize it'd be so populer honestly. And the story did take a detour, but glad people stuck with it. And the story didn't go in the direction I thought it would go. But hey, it had a mind of it's own. Thanks again for the reviews they really helped. I never use to think I could write comedy but I proved myself wrong. Well I might try my hand at a really serious dark one next. What do you think?
