She turned to face him, her hair whipping around to hit his face. He stepped backwards and sat down.
"I don't understand though. Why are you so afraid to let go? I thought that you would have been so quick to get rid of me. For goodness sake, it was only a project." He turned away from her and examined his surroundings. They were sitting in a place known only to the two of them, though it was discovered by Hermione. Apparently they worked well together. It had taken them a while to realise it though. The walls were filled with photographs and sayings from their favourite people. Half a side for him, half a side for her. He knew that it was time to go though. She just couldn't see that.
She sighed softly, and he turned to lock gazes with her. She gave a wistful smile.
"You see Draco, There's a barrier between your world and mine." He nodded. "It takes the form of a quiet disturbance. Always there, yet so noticeable that some people that just don't see it anymore."
"Like us." She nodded, and continued.
"Rather than dividing the worlds, it draws them together like a magnet. It separates the noise from the tranquillity, the calm from the storm. It allows the imagination to run wild, flowing in the breeze. I sit on it and laugh at the insignificant things in life." She watched as his expression turned to confusion.
"What –"
"Hush. I haven't finished yet. It's a part of me that I don't relinquish easily." She then smiled sadly at him, before turning and beginning to walk out. She hesitated, then turned back to face him. He was watching her cautiously.
"What do you mean?"
"Basically, if I show you this barrier, you're here – in my life – to stay." She turned sharply on her heel and walked out. Draco stood there for a while, before realising that it was this place that she was talking about.
Half way between the common rooms.
His eyes widened. She had shared a part of herself to him that nobody else had seen.
He ran after her.
