(A/N: I'm sorry, DP fans. I'm truly sorry for "A Lament for the Dying." I tried to say goodbye to one of my favorite TV Show, and I didn't do it with respect. Just because I'm not going to watch Danny Phantom anymore doesn't mean I hate the show or look down upon those who watch it. I never would have discovered my love of writing if I hadn't discovered fanfiction, and I wouldn't have discovered fanfiction if I hadn't discovered the message boards at . The first board there that I ever visited was "Danny Phantom." If it wasn't for Danny Phantom, I never would have discovered my greatest passion. Please Read & Review.)

Sam's first thought was that it couldn't be true. Danny couldn't be dead. Danny had too much spirit in him to die, too much goodness. But the facts could not be ignored. Danny's body had been found near the Alaskan border.

His funeral was beautiful. All of Danny's relatives from across the country had come, even those who were no longer on speaking terms with Jack and Maddie. They hugged, they cried, they cursed the Almighty for allowing this to happen, but they did it together. She couldn't help but feel that this is how Danny would have wanted it.

"Sam," said Tucker, "It's time." She could only nod and try to hold the tears back. They sat down in an open pew together and waited for the priest to begin.

"Like our Lord and Savior, Daniel Scott Fenton gave his life for us. God endowed him with powers beyond his ability to understand, and for a time he accepted them without grace, without understanding. But he grew to love this new part of himself, and gave over to it. Time and again, he stood between our world and the ghost world, and kept us safe from those who would harm us, though we jeered him and treated him with naught but fear and hatred. He showed us all the triumph of the human spirit when he rallied his enemies to save God's green Earth. In the end, the Lord taketh early to Himself those that He loves the best, and though we may be tempted to despair at the loss of the hero, Danny Phantom, let us instead remember Danny Fenton; a son, a friend, a brother, and a shining example of the good in the world. Amen."

"Amen," intoned the gathering.

The wake was spent with his friends, family, and even a few enemies, praising his ideals, his courage, and his kind heart. Sam and Tucker even told a few stories of his stranger adventures, and the whole congregation broke out in laughter.

"It was a beautiful funeral," said Sam later, walking through the park with Tucker.

"Yeah," he replied fondly.

"I'm really gonna miss him, Tuck," said Sam, tears starting to flow.

"I'm going to miss him, too," said Tucker.

Sam suddenly stopped, wrapped her arms around Tucker, and started crying. Tucker held her and began to cry too.
