I do not own Batman or any of the DC characters, but I'm pretty positive you know that already. The OCs are just characters from my imagination. Tell me what you think! Review. )
"As a teacher here you are expected to be a postive asset to the Academy." He said, as I stared at him confusingly.
"I guess what I'm trying to say Miss Matthews is that this incident with the cover of the tabloids this morning is something that we are not that proud of. I'm sure it was all just a 'misunderstanding' and we are aware of how the media is with Mr. Wayne. Please don't let anything like this happen again."
"It won't ,Sir. I assure you." I said as he exited the studio.
"Yo, Abbie! What'd you do." One of my students asked.
"I had a date. I guess that's against the rules." I said trying not to get into any details.
"It is when you date Bruce Wayne!" Another student said laughing.
"Okay, laugh all you want, but when you guys are ready to start rehearsal then let me know."
The day went on with the usual routine I had become accustomed to. Bruce had called me all day, probably to say something about the papers but I never answered. I wasn't going to lose my job because of Bruce, so I thought that it would be best if I just avoided him. And believe me it was hard.
I needed to get my mind off him, so I decided to go take a walk. As I was walking, I found a park that caught my attention. It was like a mini version of Central Park. For a minute it was like Gotham and all its darkness just disappeared. The sun was shining and some birds chirping from atop of the trees.
I had been there for a couple of hours when it started getting dark outside, that's when I realized that it would be a good decision to go home because I knew that the park probably wasn't as nice of a place at night.
When I arrived at my apartment building I noticed a Lamborghini parked in the "no parking" zone. I rolled my eyes and thought "Wow, someone sure thinks they are special." The bell dinged on the elevator letting me know that it had arrived at my floor. I started walking to my door and I saw someone sitting on the floor beside it. The person immediately saw me and jumped up to a standing position.
"Bruce, what are you doing here?" I asked.
"I have been trying to call you and you haven't been answering so I decided to come and see you." He replied.
"There are reasons for me not answering…"
"Wait! Before you start I want to apologize for the tabloid incident. I'm sorry that I have caused you any trouble for it."
"That's nice, Bruce."
"Wow, what else did I do?"
"WHAT ELSE DID YOU DO!! You almost cost me my job! That's what you did!"
"They said something to you about that?"
"Yes, they did. And I think that it's best if we just stop being friends."
"Oh, I'm guessing they included that with the lecture too?"
"No, I came up with that one all by myself."
"I see."
"Good, because that saves me from trying to explain it to you."
"I'm not going to stay away from you just because they are afraid of some publicity."
"It's not like it's a big deal, I mean come on. We aren't like madly in love or anything. We went on one date and sadly it probably was the last."
"Do you hear that?"
"Hear what? Bruce, what are yo-" I managed to say before Bruce's hands gently grabbed my face and placed his lips upon mine.
Everything that was on my mind before had just been wiped away. I mean, one minute I'm trying to hear for a strange noise and the next I'm kissing Bruce Wayne. This isn't something that I was expecting, never in a million years.
When we separated, all I could do was stand there and hope to god that I wouldn't collapse or say something stupid. Fortunately for me, Bruce spoke first.
"I really like you, Abbie, but if you feel that we can't be friends any longer then I will have to try to respect your decision. Even though I don't like it, I will try my hardest to keep my distance."
"Yeah, you say that now. Where was this decision at before you kissed me?" I said jokingly making him laugh.
"I guess I was trying to change your mind. Did it work?"
"I think that I'm going to have to get back to you on that one. Seriously, I just need a few days to just clear my head and all." I said.
"That's better than no." he said smiling.
"Goodnight, Bruce."
"Night."
I wanted to go to sleep, really bad. I wanted to just close my eyes and drift off into unconsciousness. But for some reason my body just didn't want to go to sleep. So I tried working on the recital but then I got bored. Then I took another shower and watched some tv, but then I was bored again and still wide awake. I scanned the room for something to do when my eyes landed on my computer.
I turned it on and waited for it to startup. When I got to Gotham I had to get a new internet connection and when they installed it they set Gotham City News as the homepage. So, it went there first, naturally. I began reading all the headlines and some of the things it the "hot topics" section. One topic particularly caught my attention it read;
BATMAN: Innocent or Guilty?
It mostly debated whether Batman really killed those people or if he was covering for somebody else. But most people just automatically assumed that he killed them. I, on the other hand, couldn't decide which side to believe. Okay, the thought that the person that ran around Gotham protecting his people for a year just went off on a random killing rampage just wasn't clicking for me.
Before I knew it, I had read paragraphs upon paragraphs and visited multiple websites about Batman. As I was sitting in front of my computer, I heard my alarm clock go off.
"Holy crap, its 7 already!" I quickly shut down my computer and showered. I got dressed and did the usual "make yourself look approachable" routine. I grabbed my messenger bag and keys and opened the door to find a beautiful vase of roses. When I picked the vase up I saw that it had a card attached to it. It read, "I'm sorry for everything. –Bruce."
He was making this harder than I thought it would be.
