I'm sorry it has been so long since I updated. I've been kinda iffy about this story. BUT, I had an epiphany and decided to take this in a whole other direction. And it's pretty amazing in my mind. Hopefully. I'll be able to write it as equally amazing.

After I sat the vase of roses down on one of the tables beside my couch, I gathered all my stuff together, again, and headed for the studio. It was cold outside with overcast, but I was pretty much used to Gotham's gloominess by now so it didn't bother me. What did bother me was everything I had read about Batman only a few hours earlier.

To me the whole ordeal seems fishy. Batman protected Gotham and put countless criminals in jail for more than a year, but then all of a sudden he just decides to kill the new District Attorney and 5 other Gotham citizens? Someone knows the truth and I am going to find out who.

But I'd have to save that for another time, because by that time I had arrived at my first class. It was a lyrical class and one of my favorites. Lyrical dancing is basically dancing with your emotions. Most of the songs are filled with deep lyrics and smooth sounds. I was given some cds that the previous teacher had used, but I ended up throwing them away. It was far past time for some new music. So, I picked some of the more "usable" material.

Today I was feeling "bring me to life" by evanescence and by the way the class was going they were too. Everything was going amazing, until we heard a scream.

I ran to the door and saw a young girl, probably a student, being held with a gun to her head by a man that appeared to have half of his body burnt. She was terrified and he wasn't about to let her go. My adrenaline was pumping through me so fast and my mind was screaming for me to do something. So I did.

"HEY! What do you want with her?!" I yelled.

"I just want her to chance her life." He responded.

What was that supposed to mean?

"Just let her go and we will talk her 'chances' out."

"NO!! Heads she lives and Tales she dies!" the man yelled as he flipped the coin.

"Heads, I guess you got lucky." He said while letting her go and walking towards me.

"How about you? Do feel lucky?" By this time I felt my heart beat faster and faster until I thought it was going to beat right out of my chest.

"I think this is completely ridiculous, and that you should leave the property now." I said firmly.

"I don't think so." He responded as he grabbed my arm and shoved me against the wall.

While I was being pushed, I saw one of my students run behind us towards the office. All I kept thinking is "Please let help come, quickly."

I felt the cold gun against my forehead, a feeling I never wanted to feel. He held the coin from earlier up at my eyelevel and repeated the words he had spoken earlier.

"Heads you live, Tales you die."

"PUT THE GUN DOWN AND PLACE YOUR HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE THEM!" a voice exclaimed from down the hall.

"I don't think so, Gordon." My attacker said.

"Leave her alone, Dent. She has nothing to do with you." The commissioner spoke.

"Dent? DENT! As in Harvey Dent, the DA who was murdered a few months ago." I thought to myself.

For a minute I totally tuned them out and saw that all of the students had been cleared out of the area and I, along with the police and crazy dead guy, were the only ones left. My mind was just completely frozen. I could not figure out how this guy could possibly be alive and how he could stay alive with those injuries.

Just when I thought that I wasn't getting out of this, he let go of me. My first instinct was to run, fast. But something stopped me, something I can't understand.

"You know, I've heard a lot about you. How you were Gotham's white light and that you were going to be the one who saves the good citizen's of Gotham from the cruel and corrupt. What happened to you?"

I asked.

"Gotham took away the one thing that was saving me." He spoke softly, which was a definite difference that the tone he was using earlier. With that I walked towards the door, where my police escort was waiting.

By the time I finished giving my statement and signing some papers and stuff, it was almost dinner. Before I left the commissioner was kind enough to offer me a ride home, which was greatly appreciated.

"So what happened to him?" I asked Gordon.

"When the Joker came to town he created chaos all across the city causing a lot of people a lot of heartache and suffering. He left this city in a deeper mess than it was." He responded.

"That's horrible, but you didn't answer my question."

"I'm not supposed to be discussing this with you, but since your life was threatened I'll make an exception. Him and the assistant DA were kidnapped and put into two warehouses wired with explosives, while we had the Joker in custody. He told us where they were at and who was there, but when He got to dent and we got to the ADA we realized that the locations were switched."

"Wait. Who is He?" I asked.

"Batman." My eyes grew big as he spoke that name.

"Dent was left with major 3rd degree burns on the left side of his body."

"What about the Assistant DA?" I asked.

"We didn't get there on time." He said sorrowfully.

A silence filled the car, as we arrived at my apartment.

"Thanks for the ride, commissioner."

"You're welcome." He said as he drove away.
