PRETTY GREEN EYES

"I don't want to go," I groaned. Jasper laughed, sending vibrations through me. I was lying fully clothed on my bed with Jasper. He had came to wake me for work, but I pulled him down for a cuddle. I dreaded the day he got a girlfriend who was against this behavior. It was a regular occurrence and he was just too soft and warm.

"Bella, you have to," He chuckled in my ear. I grimaced and shook my head, closing my eyes.

"Uh, I don't want to see that bastard," I sighed, burying my face into his side. I felt him gasp and scowled. I was never one for sarcasm in the morning, unless of course it was from me.

"Isabella, never have I heard you cuss so much about one person," He exclaimed, burying his nose in my hair, smelling the strawberries. I shoved him and laughed.

"Okay, but seriously, you need to get up," He said, sitting up on the bed. I tried to pull him back down but came to no avail. I rolled over onto my front and buried my head in between the gap for the two pillows. He sighed and I felt his weight gone from the bed.

"Two more minutes," He grunted. I threw up a hands and smiled to myself.

"You rock, Jazz," I said, though my voice was muffled by the pillows and the sleep. I heard him sigh and leave the room. Two minutes seemed like half a second. How I wish I had just gotten up now. Emmett had been sent in and one of his clever ideas was that I was to have a full bucket of freezing water thrown on top of me.

"What the fuck, Emmett?" I screamed, falling out of the bed in my surprise. To my utter enjoyment Emmett, Rosalie and Jasper were in hysterics at the door. I scowled but this only intensified their laughter as I was shivering so much my teeth were clattering embarrassing loud.

"Wakey, wakey eggs and bakey," Rosalie laughed. I glowered at her murderously, so much for loyalty.

"You can stuff your eggs and bakey up where the sun don't shine," I growled, and waked over to my closet, shivering. I turned to the others and looked at them icily. They rolled their eyes and with smirks on their faces walked out, chuckling. I let out an angry sigh and pulled out a long gray cardigan, shorts and black knee high boots.

I walked into the small kitchen that was crowded now with four bodies. Emmett turned as he heard me and let out a low whistle. I grunted before hitting him at the back of the head.

"Here you go, Bella," Rose smiled angelically, handing me a plate of pancakes. I eyed them suspiciously and brought the plate up to my nose and sniffed carefully.

"What are you doing?" She demanded. I looked up, a cautious look on my face.

"Checking to see if you poisoned it," I said seriously. She laughed loudly and pushed the plate up further.

"Eat," She laughed. I rolled my tongue against my bottom lip and decided I was too hungry to leave these delicious pancakes alone even if she had poisoned them. I grabbed a fork and sat down at the circular table and tore of the end of one. I popped it into my mouth and chewed before moaning in delight as the taste hit me.

"Poisoned?" She mocked, I rolled my eyes

"I think so. I mean why else would it taste so nice," I laughed and finished the rest of the plate off. I ran into the bathroom, washed my teeth, brushed my hair and pinned it up into a neat disarray. I ran out and Jasper was waiting leaning against the counter top, spinning his car keys around his finger. I laughed, kissing Emmett and Rosalie goodbye and pulling Jasper outside and into his car.

"Music?" He asked expectantly. I nodded, dumbly and relaxed back into the chair, watching as cars and landscape zoomed past us, or rather us them. Jasper's pale hand reached out and he switched on the radio and suddenly the car was filed with music.

Humdinger, Bell ringer

Got a nasty stinger,

To slow you down Mud slinger,

Gold digger Who point the finger,

And do you down Kickin' and a fightin' on a tv show

Lightin' blindin' in the middle of the road Are you comin' in Are you comin' in

"House of Jazz," Jasper sighed, I nodded and laughed at his enthusiasm or lack of. He squinted his nose in distaste and shook his head, his fingers moved quickly as he changed the station.

Coming out of my cage

and I've been doing just fine.

Gotta, gotta get down, cause I want it all

Started off with a kiss how did it end up like this

(It was only kiss, it was only a kiss.)

Jasper smiled in satisfaction and began to sing along in his harmonic voice. I laughed and shook my head. If you had met him in public for the first time you would think he was this shy emo boy, who never laughed or had fun but that was the complete opposite. Sure, he was shy but once you got to know him, he was all fun and games.

Now I'm falling asleep,

And she's calling a cab,

While he's having a smoke,

And she's having drag

Now they're going to bed and my stomach is sick

And it's all in my head

But she's touching his chest now,

He takes off her dress now,

Letting me go.

I laughed in abandon. Jasper was one of the few people who could bring the good side out of me. I sang along with him, both of our voices together over shadowing the song. I laughed as Jasper pulled up in front of the building and leaned over to give me a kiss on the cheek. I sighed, giving the building a gloomy, dismal look. I turned to look at Jasper but was surprised by the knock at the window. I turned to see Alice's smiling face.

I winded down my window and greeted her cheerily. Her dazzling smile blinded me for a second. When I was fully coherent again I introduced the two. Alice looked at Jasper strangely when he said in his Texan accent.

"Nice to meet you, ma'am," I, however laughed. Jasper had lived in Texas for six years out of his many and still greeted people with the same, laced on accent. She smiled beamingly at him but soon her smile dropped, like she had just realized something.

I looked at the clock in the dashboard and cussed. I opened out the door and apologized to Alice and Jasper, but I had to leave. Alice immediately turned a crimson when I suggested for her to stay talking with Jazz. She dismissed it and followed me in, her movement graceful and fluent beside, my careful and awkward one.

The way up to our floor was filled with girly chatter and titters. We greeted Maggie in unison and burst into hysterical laughter. She laughed.

"Back so soon?" She asked Alice who just nodded with a grin.

"I wanted to get to know Bella more," She smiled up at me with a wink. I laughed and walked over to my desk my chair was turned against the wall. I sighed and laughed after I heard Maggie cuss at Jessica and Lauren fiercely. I turned to look but missed it sadly. When I turned around so did my chair. I looked at it, frozen the spot. Edward turned around in my chair, his face solemn, his eyes hard. He was wearing an Armani pinstripe suit that showed his figure. I swallowed the saliva that had come to my mouth seeing him .

"Jeez, Edward. What are you? The Godfather?" Alice said with a risen eyebrow. I was still for a minute before I burst into hysterical laughter. Alice joined me and Edward scowled.

"Very funny, Alice," Edward snapped sourly. He turned to me and I slowly sobered up.

"You, Bella, are late," He hissed. I chewed at the inside of my cheek and sighed sadly. Here it comes. I though bitterly. Alice put a hand on my shoulder and gave it a little squeeze.

"So?" She questioned her brother. He cocked his head to the side, an irked look displayed on his beautiful features.

"So, I was planning on going out on a date but I was bombarded with her work, answering bloody phones and paperwork. Do you realize how low rent it is to have to answer your own phone calls, huh?" He snapped, getting to his feet. Heat rose to my face in anger and I responded in defense.

"Gee. Welcome to my world," I snapped. Oops. He looked at me with a cold look and shook his head before walking into his office shoulders slumped. Alice rolled her eyes as I watched after him. Tears of anger gathering.

"He can be a real dickhead," She laughed softly. I smiled, and sat down on my chair. Dread I was having last night and this morning quenched as the large paperwork I had to do was done along with today's. I swallowed a large lump in my throat but couldn't digest the horrible guilt. Alice sat on the seats opposite my table, for waiting guests.

"You okay?" She asked, concerned. I gave a false smile and began chatting away to her again.

I hadn't talked to Edward for several hours and the guilt was eating away at me. I was never one good with guilt. If I gave a cheater the wrong answers I'd start crying and tell them and probably help them steal the sheet back and help answer them probably. Alice had gone home, around five, complaining of a headache and I decided it was time to act.

I knocked on his door, rapidly before walking in. His messy head of auburn hair was draped over paperwork. His head snapped open and eyes me suspiciously. I shrugged and brought my hand from behind my back.

"I come bearing gifts?" I said softly, trying to break the tension. His face softened but his eyes were still cautious.

"I'm sorry about earlier. I overslept," I said, with a roll of my eyes. Edward cracked a grim smile as I laid the cup of coffee on his table.

"It's alright," He grumbled, leaving his pen on the table.

"I got a bucket of freezing cold water thrown over me, if it's any consolation," I laughed slightly. His eyes popped out of his head and he quickly shook his head.

"Of course it isn't, Bella. I'm so sorry," He whispered. I rose an eyebrow in confusion. How could one man be so complex? One minute he is a dick head next he's as sweet as Emmett's moms apple pie.

"Don't worry, it's just Emmett's way," I tittered. His face seemed to harden as I mentioned Emmett's name but he said nothing so I bit my tongue.

"It was sweet of you. I mean, doing my work," I mumbled, blood rushing to my face. He shrugged, his face turning the lightest rosy.

I took in a gulp of air before walking quickly over to his seat. In my haste I fell, and weren't for his quick hands I would have fallen. He brought me to my feet, and by this time my face was as red as a beetroot. His pretty green eyes bore into mine. Searching and I was incapable. Incapable of doing what I wanted, speaking, yelling and worse breathing.

"Breath, Bella," He whispered, his fresh breath, blowing against my face. I took in air and grinned sheepishly.

It must have been the lack of oxygen at the brain because now I felt the intense desire to touch him. And much, much more. I bit my bottom lips before reaching up and planting a kiss on his lips, a chaste one. One of thanks and nothing else. He was frozen beneath me in shock as I pulled myself away. As much as I didn't want to I knew I had to.

I turned and walked began to walk out the door when his voice came again. So smooth, velvety and so seductive. I turned my head so fast I was surprised I didn't get whiplash. He was smiling crookedly and I gasped at the beauty of it.

"Thanks," It was a breath but I was to intoxicated with his smile to register anything. It was so beautiful, like a sunset, like a anything beautiful by ten and I swore to myself right there I would do anything to see that smile more.

I turned back and was to preoccupied with thinking I didn't watch where I was going and I ran straight into his wooden door. I fell to the ground heavily and the last thing I saw was his worried face before I slipped under.
