After the confrontation I went back to my house for awhile, taking a quick nap before waking up, wishing I hadn't for my dream was...nice.

"Time to get up Edward," Bella had sung and then I woke up. I groaned, rolling out of bed, the cold brisk morning air wrapping around me like a blanket and at times like these I wondered why I only wore boxers to bed.

I went to the bathroom, had a quick shower and brush my teeth. I walked into my big bedroom, slipping into a suit pants, a shirt and jacket.

My feet were could against the wooden floor as I waltzed into the kitchen and turned on the stereo, my ears being filled with Debussy and the soothing sound of the piano. I sighed, popping two slices of toast into the toaster and waiting impatiently beside it. It finally popped up; edges burnt and grabbed the jam, spreading it sparingly around it.

I grabbed the coffee maker, pouring myself of a cup of lukewarm coffee that soothed the burning itch at the back of my throat. After I had finished my breakfast I turned off all the appliances I had on and snatched my keys from the counter top and danced out of my apartment and walking down the stairs.

It was frustrating getting to work, stuck behind some old woman, rolling about in her automobile, looking ready to break at any second that I was on edge every second while I was stuck behind her.

"Hey boss," Maggie greeted as I walked past her, her red locks dancing around her face in tight curls. She had a big false smile on her face and I rose an eyebrow.

"What is it Mags?" I asked suspiciously and she twiddled her thumbs dumbly.

"I need some leave time. My sister, Siobhan, is marrying her fiancé Liam in Ireland next month and I was wondering," I shook my head smiling, continuing to walk to my office.

"Of course, can we talk about it later?" She nodded before slapping her palm of her forehead.

"How's Bella?" The sound of her name had me smiling but then frowning with bitterness. Bella was fine, she was arrogant and aloof and the opposite of me; not alone. She had Emmett, her boyfriend after all.

"She's fine," I said abruptly walking into my office and slamming the door behind me, the door Bella had ran into earlier, after she kissed my cheek, which still burned beneath the surface.

I sat at my desk, glaring at the large stack of paper work in front of me, hoping it would disappear, remembering vaguely doing all Bella's work early in the morning.

Bella. Maybe I shouldn't have left her in a house full of strangers. My family. They could be overbearing at times but then again I was a stranger too. I barely knew her, I didn't know her likes or dislikes, her family or where she grew up. That was usually fine. I never wanted to know about my secretaries but not knowing about her was..annoying. But then I knew the most important thing she had a boyfriend and that's what killed me.

I heard a strangled voice outside with two other, more husky and deep and then Maggie's arguing but losing dreadfully. There were loud footsteps and then my door swung open revealing a woman. She was tall, beautiful and outraged, glaring murderously at me.

Emmett and Jasper appeared behind her and I raised an eyebrow. She waltzed over to me, grabbing the collar of my jacket and forcing me to my feet and back against the wall.

"What did you say?" She barked and I say all grease marks on her face, faint but not unnoticeable. I glanced behind her and saw what all four of us had in common and what this actually could be about. Of course, what else had brought me trouble over the last month? With the perverted dealer I had turned down because he was remarking about her. Bella

"What did you say to her," She roared. Shouldn't this be Emmett's job? Beating up the person his girlfriend had a row with? Emmett's hand placed a hand on her shoulder and her face softened and instantly I remembered her from the club.

"Rosalie. Calm down, babe," Oh that's it. Did he just call her babe and that's when I pieced it together. Bella wasn't lying when she said she wasn't going out with him. I had just misunderstood foolishly.

"Wait Rose. Don't hurt him," A breathless voice squeaked as Bella ran in, trailed by miniature Alice. I sighed, smiling at her rose tinted cheeks and red nose, feeling myself want to warm her.

"Why not," She hissed her voice snarling as she whipped around to glare at Bella, yet she was here to protect Bella she was now lashing out at her. Bella looked blank and clueless and then her face twisted and she glanced at me, smirking.

"Because I love him," She cried and Rosalie gasped, turning sharply to face her, Alice and Jasper gaped at her and Emmett just glared at her, then at me and then his fist plummeted into my face.

Yet I didn't even feel pain before I fell to the floor and Bella ran at me, eyes wide and worried as I black out.

Preview.

"Don't flatter yourself," I smiled, wiping blood from his face, cursing Emmett. She chuckled knowing I was kidding but even to myself it didn't seem an utter lie that loved him.
