Live Lean and Prosper
S/J PRE-SLASH
Note: I didn't see ST 2009 because I thought I'd be disappointed, but now, after watching all those videos on Youtube, I've realized I missed a hell of a movie. Oh, well, I'll wait for the DVD.
I'm a Spock fan -LN and ZQ are absolutely brilliant. I'm more a S/U shipper than a S/J mainly because, frankly, I never liked William Shatner, and Chris Pine hasn't yet made me forget him...
And that's what made me write this snippet.
Summary: Spock Prime gives his younger self a little advice.
Spock stared at his older self in disbelief. Had Spock Prime just practically told him it was all right to have feelings for Jim Kirk?
It seemed to good to be true.
"But... Those feelings are most illogical," he argued. But it was only a token resistance and he knew it, and it was evident that Spock Prime knew it too.
The older man smiled benevolently.
"As I said, this is your own path, Spock," he said. "The decision is yours alone. You are most fortunate, however," he added. "I did not get to meet Jim as a youth. Our time together was so very short..."
Spock stared at him, moved by the wistfulness in those words.
"What should I do, then?" he asked. If he was going to do this, he wanted to do it properly.
"You will know when the time comes, Spock."
"And then?" Spock insisted. Hey, he really needed instructions here.
The older man was most unhelpful, however; "Love him back," he said succinctly. "That is all." He raised his hand in farewell, "Live long and prosper, Spock."
"Live long and prosper."
The older man made as if to move away, then paused. "There is one thing," he said tentatively, and Spock looked up sharply.
"Yes?"
"A very important thing, in fact."
"Yes?"
"Watch his diet!"
