Loyal to his country, he longs to return to his beloved homeland, and yet he has severed himself from his family and forever abandoned any chance of being welcomed back. Proud and vigilant, he is yet very weakened and mellow, worn down by time and events he didn't think would ever occur. Wishing for his old life, he knows that his best future is something far from that.
He is not a hero, and he is not a villain. He is just somewhere in between.
