This is what I think should have happened in this episode.
"... and I'll go back to being just the guy who pours your coffee." I closed the freezer door, turned and walked away from her. The pain in my chest was worse then I had ever felt before. I paid for the groceries and walked out of the store. It had started to rain. I was about to open my truck door when I heard my name. I turned around. Lorelai. What was she doing? I stood there looking at her, neither of us said anything. She started to walk towards me, only stopping when she was standing a few feet away from me. "Ya." I asked. Was she crying?
"You were never just the guy who poured my coffee." She walked the last few steps towards me and wrapped her arms around my neck. We stood there in parking lot, kissing in the rain.
