Author's Note
Since I started the long project of tying up loose ends from the Legends EU, probably the most-requested story was an ending to The Force Unleashed. Well, here it is.
I rolled around ideas for a 'Luke learns about Starkiller' story for a while before things finally clicked into place. I've never written anything for the OT era before, mostly because that period's already crammed with stories and there didn't seem much to add, but it did give me a chance to do a few things I otherwise couldn't, namely animate a few more of the Empire's dirty dozen grand admirals.
When writing this book I used the Sean Williams novelizations of TFU and TFUII as the 'canon' for the games' story. The second novelization in particular laid some extra groundwork that I built up from here. While plugged into the old EU it's not as referential as some of my other stories and should be accessible to anyone who's played the games. When gathering ideas for the Starkiller half of the story, the TFUII cliffhanger and comments from Sam Witner and Hayden Blackman about a possible TFUIII provided a direction.
