Yu-Gi-Oh GX Legacy: The Next Generation of Duelists

Summary: It's been 15 years since the events of Yu-Gi-Oh GX, and now a new generation of duelists are coming to Duel Academy to become the very best duelists that they can be. They will learn the ins and outs of the game, and get themselves in all sorts of adventures, and the troubles that come along with it. Under new management after Chancellor Shepard retires, the school has gotten bigger and better than ever, and new and old rivalries are renewed. When a down on his luck pro-duelist with several legal issues got released from prison after serving a 15 year sentence for an assault, along with struggling to live off dead-end jobs, Marcus Farburn gets a chance from the new Chancellor Thomas Getterson Dean to head the Slifer Red dorm. The Slifer Red dorm and its students have been under increased pressure and contempt from the other ranks, and rumor has it that a new head is gonna replace Thomas should he failed to turn things around in Slifer Red by the end of the year. Its not gonna be easy, but perhaps thanks to a new Slifer Red teenage girl named Sonia Stryker, with the powerful Elemental Dragons (made up deck), and a few other allies including the tough and brash, but ultimately well meaning Molly Endlone, a Ra yellow student, maybe he might just have a chance to turn a bunch of Slifer Slackers into a bunch of underdogs that can defy the odds and make the grade.

A/N: I am gonna be going for a Lean On Me/Cobra Kai like feel for the story here, but there will still be some adventures and crazy moments the Yu-Gi-Oh series has always been known here, but I am giving it a more serious tone at the same time, hence the movie and TV series inspiration I am gonna be using in this story. I am also gonna give you the fans a chance to be part of this great fanfiction, with a forum which I will make very soon after this story is released. Without a duo, let's get this great story started. Rated Teen for some violence (mainly in the duels), thematic elements, strong language, and some alcohol, tobacco, and drug use, and later some sexuality.

Chapter 1: New Beginnings Part 1

Domino City, USA

It was just another day in the good old city that is known as Domino City. The hometown that popularize Duel Monsters, it is now the biggest thing in the world. Many people are seen in the city right now playing Duel Monsters, with all sorts of monsters appearing in the made up arenas, all doing battle with one another. There was a sight of a Machine King blowing up a Cyber Tutu in one arena, and another had a bunch of warriors being burned to a crisp by a Seprent Night Dragon, and various other creatures doing other horrible things to one another. They were plenty of young kids and even young adults dueling each other in those arenas for fun, with one mother cheering on her daughter who was taking on another boy her age.

As the sights of monsters and explosions were being seen around the city from those duels. A man was just among them, completely bored and well just almost lifeless like one of those zombies in a movie. The person looked clearly tired, and also drunk with how that person is holding the bottle. The person then started to walk along the street, uninterested in the duels. The person was a male, 6'1, with blacking brown hair and black eyes, with tan skin and a small scar on his head. He also has a black beard which is shortly cut, and he look like he is in his mid-40s. He was wearing a black long sleeve shirt with black jeans and also have a black jacket around him. The only thing that was not black was his shoes and socks, being the normal white for the socks, and blue for his normal shoes, nothing fancy.

"Oh look, do I recognize him?" said by one random bystander walking by, noticing the beer in his hand.

"Recognize who?" the other person jokingly flattered, remembering something about this guy. "It was the duelist who lost due to a cheating incident 15 years ago and had his pro-dueling life destroyed." The guy's sheer ire laugh just made the due with the beer walking by shrug off in annoyance. "Then Marcus Farburn then became a has-been to also go to prison for that long also after assaulting his rival among other things, talk about his dueling life gone down the drain."

The guy in the black is Marcus Farburn, a former pro-duelist who was once at the top of the dueling world with legends like Yugi Moto, Seto Kaiba, Joey Wheeler, among many others. He just continues to walk on the street with the beer in hand, drinking slips from it every so often until he reaches an apartment complex. It was a very typical complex of apartments, nothing special. He goes up to the steps until he reaches a door with the number 206. He also sees that there was a piece of paper which was none other than a eviction notice. He revealed that he has failed to make several payments on rent among other things, and now that he has several weeks to vacate the property. "Do you think I give a shit about this now?" Marcus grunted. (A/N: He sounds like Karl Urban with a British accident from the Boys show.) Marcus Farburn really just doesn't give shit about things right now. With how his life fell apart after his prison sentence, it feels like he can careless about evictions and money issues. He goes into his apartment, which is about as run-down as a drunk. Many beer bottles on the ground oozing of that beer smell, along with tons of trash of various items on the ground. There was even a bucket of piss along side the couch. There was even a flat-screen TV with an antenna on as well. Marcus would go to crash on the couch with the beer in his hand, beaten from the day of work that he does, what that work is, as he is totally wasted. He then goes and flips on the TV, flipping on channels, which consist of a few news station, and even a sports network, and also some movie channels. He then stops to see a news channel which was playing a news story on Duel Academy.

"The head of Duel Academy, Thomas Getterson Dean is under intense pressure to close the Slifer Red dorm as the standards of that dorm has been on a downward spiral since Chancellor Sheppard has left the school for retirement several years prior. Reportedly the board members of Kaiba Corp is considering replacing him with Obelisk Headmaster and Vice Principal Dorian Silvermen, a former government official of London, who has seen the highest Obelisk results in recent years. All they said, is that Thomas Getterson has one year to turn the Slifer Red results around, otherwise the dorm is gonna be torn down, and all students in that dorm will be automatically expelled." Said by the news reporter as he is on the sight of Duel Academy behind him, with a picture of Thomas Getterson on the left and Dorian Silverman. (His appearance is based on Morgan Freeman at his current age, and Dorian Silvermen is based on Pierce Borsnan, when he was James Bond). Marcus just shrugs in annoyance, as this is well beyond him. "Those Slifer Reds can go to hell, not my problem." He said just as he turns off the TV and goes to sleep, ready for the next day of bullshit to start once more.

The Next Morning

Right now, we see the very busy streets of Domino City now packed to the rim of cars and people on the roads respectively. Currently someone was currently running through in a heavy hurry to be some where. The girl look like she is in her teen years with fair skin, short maroon hair, and brown eyes. She was wearing at the time an aqua colored shirt with a heart symbol on it, with a black vest, and grayish brown shorts with short white shocks and blue shoes. She also has a well developed body for her age with her breasts being around a B-C cup, or somewhere around it.

"Got my deck, ate my breakfast like my mom and dad wanted me too, now I got to get to the arena for the entrance exam, gonna go to Duel Academy." Said the young teen girl with a cheer and optimistic voice and smile just as she continues to run for the arena. The arena is where the Duel Academy entrance exams and everything would take place, for students to get the chance to spent the next several years in the best school in the world, Duel Academy. Recently, changes made it to where if you get a diploma in Duel Academy, you can apply for a college scholarship anywhere in the world, or perhaps get a chance to go pro right after, which many want to do. This girl's name is none other than Sonia Stryker.

"Someone help my cat, she is up on the tree surrounded by dogs." Yelled an elderly woman.

Sonia continues to run for the arena when she sees someone's cat is currently on top of a tree being barked at on some dogs who wanna hurt it. Sonia also sees some elderly lady also by the tree, trying to shoo off the dogs with her stick. Sonia immediately stopped by to help the elderly lady. The dogs were started to bark right at Sonia now, but Sonia with a stern look then yells a lout "Shoo" and even makes a kicking motion with her foot to get them to flee away. The dogs then flee away, apparently they were some strays that were on the run from the animal control service, who arrived a few moments later to get the dogs.

"Oh thank you, young girl. What is your name BTW?: the elderly lady asked her.

"Your welcome, well my name is Sonia, Sonia Stryker." The young girl smiled. She then noticed her watch, and noticed that the time is 7:50 AM. She has to be at the arena at 8 AM. "Oh shoot, I better be going, nice meeting you."

Sonia starts to run before the elderly lady then stops her hand for a second, with Sonia turning to hear her out. "I know you are gonna do good, and word of advice, don't let the rank determine what type of person you are, its your heart that matters." She smiled. "Trust me, I know."

Sonia then begins to run off for the arena. Her long journey, among many others was about to begin.

Marcus's Apartment (around the same time as Sonia run for the arena was happening)

The alarm was going off from across the kitchen, in which the lazy ass Marcus Farburn had no interest in turning off until it got louder and louder. Marcus was on the couch, still drunk and sleeping from the night, and with the TV still on. Now its on a news reporter on Duel Academy, at the arena where testing is gonna be happening, with a news story.

"Duel Academy tryouts are today at the Kaiba-Dome, where the exams are gonna be taking place. Many young students are coming to try out for the chance to go to Duel Academy, in which it's a place to get a diploma there that will allow them to get into any college or pro-league should they graduate. Now all eyes are on the Slifer Red this year, as Obelisk Blue has won the last 9 tournament cups, and are looking to go 10 in a role. The Slifer Red dorm has been under intense pressure as of while as they are facing demolition should they not win the cup this year, so everything for Slifer Red is on the line this year. There is also no male head because that person has quitted before he was scheduled to come back, leaving only former Duel Academy student Blair Flannigan as the only Slifer Red head at this moment after heading the female dorm for the last several years. Also, reports of only half of the Slifers graduating from that dorm has also brought concern to KaibaCorp shareholders along with its board members looking to replace Thomas Getterson Dean at the end of this year should he not turn things around."

Marcus then switched the channel to a sports channel, which was playing replays of the football game. Marcus then uttered the words. "Useless shits, perhaps they gone too soft with management, but I ain't one to do it."

Marcus then got dressed in his work clothes, which is a short grayish shirt which showcases his muscles, and blue jeans. He was also seen wearing some sunglasses as well. He then grabbed his work helmet and some plumbing supplies that he laying on the ground. He then walked out of his apartment, where he finds the landlord waiting for him. "You know, your drunk ass is really close to having me just kick you out on the streets right now, because you are only several days away from not having rent. A few thousand dollars to be exact." Marcus then turned around and then gives him the middle finger. "Perhaps if you got the damn water fixed, along with the constant noisy neighbors who wouldn't stop fucking partying and grabbing their balls like a banshee all fucking night, that would be shitty nice, and you would have some damn rent!"

The landlord took great offense to that. "Well those guys are my friends, and besides, I thought your job was a handy man, fixing other people's pipes and house issues."

"Go fuck yourself!" Marcus responded back. "And also, I don't just fix those issues, I fixed other buildings as well, and today I am going to the Kaiba Dome to fix some shit." He then turned and gave the landlord a middle finger before storming off for the arena.

In Another Street at the Same Time

Reiko Katisume was currently riding her limousine drinking a glass of champagne heading for the Kaiba-Dome where she is scheduled for testing. Reiko is also one of the most attractive girls at her age of 14, with dark pink eyes, pale skin, and dark blue hair with light blue bangs. She also is developed for her age, so much that the boys want to date a rich girl like her. She was currently wearing a white blouse silver shirt with a black skirt which is short enough to cover her knees, but not overly so. She was also wearing black socks and some red slippers. She was currently being driven by her butler just as she was watching the news on how Slifer Red has been falling, right on her high-dollar iPhone. "Good riddance, I already know how this is gonna go out. I pass the written and dueling exams, and get into Obelisk Blue, then start looking down on people as everyone of us rich people tend to do."

This makes the butler chucked with a smile. "That is true my Reiko dear. These people can go to hell, many of them are struggling to pay rent or achieve their dreams, while we have all of that, and not give a care to anyone who is smaller than us in this world. I know your parents and family will be proud of you when you, and will get into Obelisk Blue."

"Yeah, this won't even be much of a challenge with this deck I have. Ahhh. Money can always buy happiness, and some incredible cards." Reiko smiled, and then she opens the window and sees the various crowds of people, going through with their normal lives. She even sees Marcus Farburn who was walking on the streets with the tools and beer in his hands, and she then flicks her partially drinken champagne at the dude, spilling it on his clothes. Marcus then grunted and shouted at the girl from the limousine. "You stuck up precious rich bitch teens." He shouted just as he gives her the finger.

The butler also smiled at the sight of his misery. "Why not you… former champ Marcus go get a shirt change at Goodwill!" the butler mocked as he opened his window as well. The butler apparently knew him as Marcus Farburn as he passed by.

Marcus just continues to walk towards the dome where he is then seen by several of his co-workers and manager, who are all annoyed to see him with the beer and not just that, being late to work as well. "Marcus, once again you are late. We were waiting for you here for almost an hour. Did you know that this was your last chance? Now I have to fire you at the end of this job!"

"Do you honestly think I give a rats' ass about this type of shit we do for a living for the rich people, while we are all just down here, and me here as a criminal, being paid almost essentially pennies compared to almost everyone here who works either in government or politics, or in the dueling world. On that site note, why not I add the fact that you are being paid shit as well doing this type of work, and you the manager, to just manage us from your office all comfortably while we the hard workers are getting underneath pipes and breaking walls to sometimes remove shits from toilets get stuck somehow at times from other shit being thrown in there as well, and being barely better than us in the pay department. Don't you think everyone should have to work just as hard for a living and enjoyment?" Marcus brilliantly said just a calm demeanor on why they all suck dicks for the higher ups of society, and barely scrap out a living. "So why not we just get this shit done, let me get my check, and let me start finding a new job as soon as possible?"

The manager and the other co-workers were just stunned and speechless with what he said, and also somewhat angry at his rude comment, indicating that he just doesn't care about his life anymore or his job, and now he just going along with the motions. "Well, good point, but still, doesn't excuse you for being late. We got several pipes and toilets that need to be fixed and empty out, apparently some shit got stuck in their from several dueling events, and also there is a water leak down by several of the kitchens. The sooner we get this done, the sooner we all can be out of here, and also done with this shit hold of a man known as Marcus Farburn." The manager now scuffed out in a rude statement.

Everyone then goes into the Kaiba-Corp building to start fixing up the pipes and other stuff, with Marcus Farburn getting the worse of the bunch. He was asked by the manager to head to one of the restrooms and get behind the pipes to fix the toilets and commodes, and when he got there, he saw that several of the toilets is filled with tons of feces, and that the entire floor is soaked in shit. The manager then also brought a mop bucket with a mop. "You might want to clean this restroom while you at it."

"Oh shit!" Marcus just smirked in annoyance.

Back at the Kaiba-Corp Entrance

A long line was starting to form around the Kaiba-Dome building as many young people were applying for a life-changing opportunity to go to Duel Academy. Sonia was lucky to make it to the line where she had to be by 8AM in order to be admitted into the exams. It was gonna be a long day as they were many people who are having to do exams, both on the dueling feel and on the written part as well. Luckily technology makes grading all the much easier, as all the tests would be taken on the tablets which comes with a Bluetooth keyboard. Many schools these days now move everything to the computers, so this is no surprise there. One by one, groups of students would be going into the testing rooms, which is actually repurposed rooms that were in the stadium, where the students would take the written portions of the exam. Every student was given 1 hour to complete the written portion of the exam, and answer all the questions provided, multiple choice style. Ah the days of where short answers and stuff like that was all gone, and the times where people use pencils and pens to answer questions on a test and school work. Many people greatly enjoy this, though the test administrator seemed to be annoyed by the recent developments in technology. "Uh the days I miss where people use pencils and actually fill out answers. Well you know how a test goes, stay silent, finish in an hour, no cheating, all that good stuff. You may begin."

About an hour later, everyone was finished with their results and were graded instantly since the test being on the computers, everyone would know their results instantly. Sonia actually did okay, managing to get a C, missing quite a few questions, mainly on some of the more advanced dueling techniques and advanced moves. "Well, I guess it really comes down to the dueling, doesn't matter what dorm I get. Should have studied a little bit more, my mom and dad of course running the business, needed my help running some deliveries." She said to herself in her head. "I can easily say that Obelisk Blue is out of the question, plus having to attend a Prep School, why can't they just have it for everyone for those who do well?"

She then heads to the arena, where much of the real action is now taking place. Duels were going between the students and the test givers, with the students using the test provided decks given to them. Usually this is done in case the person has a really OP deck, and may easily cream the test in minutes upon starting. Back in the past, they were test givers that were defeated in like several turns when the rules of using one's deck was done. To be fair, the test givers also got to use their the test provided decks as well to ensure fair play as well, as teachers defeating students using their own OP decks is discouraging. Exceptions were sometimes made depending on the circumstances, but its few and far between.

As Sonia took her seat to start watching several of the duels, while waiting for her turn to start. She noticed there was one young boy her age, who had tan skin, with a bold head, having a drink spilled on his head by some other students. Apparently they are second year Obelisk, as they are wearing their outfits right now, while everyone is wearing their normal clothes. In this case, the young boy being harassed was wearing glasses which were knocked off, and also a blue T-short and red slacks for pants, while also wearing black shocks and shoes. Also knocked out was a set of cards he was setting up on his deck. "Oh, it's the brainy Bentley, or more like, brianless and blind Bentley. What's wrong, did I knocked out your nicely stacked cards, let me help you get it back up." The Obelisk Blue students mocked just as they started picking up the cars to make his deck, and then constantly mess with the student by moving their hands around when he tries to grab it.

"Hey, give it back, I was organizing it for the match." The boy Bentley complained.

"Well we will give it back, when you agree to suck on Obelisk juice!" another Obelisk bully said, throwing an apple juice drink at his face. Sonia then got up from her set and went up to the Obelisk Blues and shouted, furious. "Hey, BACK OFF HIM!"

"Oh, who is the bitch ass who is telling us like their mommy to go to their room, are you a bit too young to be a mom?" The obelisk boy then mocked again.

"Well hand back his deck, or else I might just kiss your ass!" said another girl from the distance. Sonia and Bentley then turns to see a girl who is about 15 years of age, with reddish-brown eyes, chin length spiky dyed red and black hair, and was wearing a black belly shirt, along with blue jeans. She looks to be very pissed at those Obelisks, for picking on the smaller crowd. The Obelisks then turned to see the girl look at them in her angry mood, and then they smiled.

"Oh, is miss little teen bitch here gonna kick our ass. Well I don't think you are too good to be in our school, and besides, you are smoking hot for a babe your age, perhaps you could get a date with a…" The Obelisk boy said before he was kicked in the groin, and he was barely trying to make a noise, but he is in pain, big time. He was like squealing in pain in his crotch from the girl's kick. Another Obelisk boy then tries to slap her with his hands, but the girl just grabs his hand, and then looks at him dead in the eye, with one simple message. "Leave now, and hand back Bentley his deck, if you know what's good for you, cause this can be much worse if I really wanted it, and I don't give a damn about the trouble around here, cause I took boxing lessons and learned karate in case you ask." She speaks calmly.

The Obelisk hand his hand let go, and he and his cronies then ran for it, away from the girl who handed them their ass. Afterwards, she turned to see Bentley and Sonia picking up the cards, and then the girl proceeded to ask. "Say, did they give you any trouble? I know Bentley gets picked on a lot." She asked Sonia.

"No, they didn't, I dealt with my fair share of them, say, who are you?" Sonia asked.

"Molly Endlone, and you must be?"

"Sonia, Sonia Stryker, and I assume the guy you just helped is Bentley." Sonia then responded, and then she turns to Bentley.

"Yeah, Bentley Carson, nice to meet you Sonia Stryker." Bentley spoke friendly just as he greeted Sonia.

"Yeah, and thanks Molly." Sonia then smiled for Molly, who then smiled. "Yeah, don't mention it, say, I see that a new duel is about to start, want me to get some food before the duel, our turns won't be for awhile, so perhaps we should show each other our decks, just to see what each of us got, and review before we go into the arena?" Molly then asked.

"Yeah, grab me a hotdog and some chips." Bentley said, as he gave Molly some money, but she kindly refused. "Its okay, its on me." Molly said.

"Well, perhaps you could get me some pretzel rolls, though I am not that hungry to begin with." Sonia then replied.

The Manager Boardroom at Kaiba-Dome

Right now, they were currently several people who are watching the duels from the TV screen, analyzing the many duels that are currently going on at this very time. They were all watching closely to see who is staying calm and level-headed, or who is panicking at the very scene. "The tests are currently underway, and soon we will know who is going to Duel Academy, or who is staying here in this city." Said by one of the people in this very room, the chair turns to see an old man who is bold and was wearing a normal business professor suit. (Think of him kinda like a Patrick Stewart like guy here and his vociec as well.) "But despite all of that, many of these people show that they have promise to be here at this school."

"Oh yes, but that honestly depends on what you see as potential. Well as head of the Obelisk Blue, anyone who is in Obelisk or Ra currently has potential, Slifers are now just a thing of the past, I mean, only half the students who enter in Slifer Red graduated, and they haven't won a Duel Academy Cup in 10 seasons, plus we are about to go 10 for 10, and with Ra only trailing a little bit, its safe to say that the Slifer people who enter now, will be the last people to enter. I mean, they are gonna be expelled by the end of this year if they don't win the cup. They might as well hand over the prize to us right now." Said by another man who turned his chair to view him, and he is of Irish decent. "Isn't that right, Mollow Bashad?"

Mollow then replied with a smile. "Well don't hold your standards too high, or underestimate anyone, because you be surprised at some of these people. I was looking at my tablet of some of the results, and I saw one duelist that interested me Dorian."

"Let me guess, another Slifer snake that deserves to be burned down?"

"Actually, her name is Sonia Stryker. Yes her grades are just merely okay, but she is also the daughter of the legendary duelist known as Raven Stryker, user of the powerful Elemental Dragons. Its just a shame that her mother died when she was just a baby by a murderer." Mollow said, and then for a moment he replied the bad news with sadness. "It was a tragedy that everyone remembers, and her murderer is still at large."

"Well it doesn't matter what sob story that we hear, though I will admit that it is sad to hear that she lost her mother when she was young, but we have to get on to the business of Duel Academy here. We got more tests coming up, and I like to get through this entire process so we can get the next school year started." Dorian then added with a smirked smile. He seems unfazed at the death, though did show a tiny bit of sadness, but is unfazed by the fact of her grades being rather okay at best. "And if she does have her mother's deck, then perhaps she might have a chance of making it to Duel Academy, perhaps as a Ra Yellow, though with her grades she be in Slifer Red, which is currently in hell right now."

"Well I am aware that the Slifers haven't had the best of chances as of lately, trust me I know. While I never was one, I did lived there during my years, thanks to an old pal of mine." The chair then turned to see a tall, muscular man with a bandana covering most of his head, with two visible black dreadlocks. The man also had a tanned appearance, with brownish eyes, and was wearing almostl ike a military combat style clothes with his pants being the main one, and was wearing a Jurassic Park shirt as well. "And it would also help if the higher ups, especially you Dorian, wouldn't stop treating those Slifers like trash."

"Well, say that to the former Ra Yellow student, and now head of Ra Yellow, T-Rex brain Tyranno Hassleberry." Dorian then mocked, making Hassleberry angry. "I heard that!"

"Oh did I hurt your feelings?"

"Well you are hurting a lot of feelings by getting the higher ups to remove much of their privileges and even make their living conditions even more hellish this year. I mean, I just got word they aren't gonna have electricity, they are gonna have to walk almost from a half to a mile for a shower or drink from the water fountain from their stations, there is no running AC, the dorm is in horrid shape after some vandals I heard lately trashed it with no one coming to fix it, the food is getting worse, they have no free periods this year, and that is just the beginning. Even I wouldn't allow this, but apparently someone in higher up and from here suggested that, and to me that is disgusting. Everyone should have a fair chance!" said by a very angry woman who's chair turns to reveal to see a long blond hair, wearing an Obelisk Blue head dress, almost similar to the one that Fonda had in her years.

"Well said Alexis." Hassleberry smiled.

"No problem, so perhaps invest a little bit in Slifer Red to ensure that their lives aren't hell, because this would be illegal in many dueling schools."

"Why should I?" Dorian mocked with a grin just as he drinks his cocktail.

"Well because they need hope, because with only one head at this time, and perhaps no replacements coming, I don't know what is gonna be of Slifer Red this year if they don't win the cup." Alexis grunted.

"Well they aren't gonna win. Let's face it, they are the very reason this school has been lagging behind the others. They are tearing this reputation apart, and so as its head, Thomas Getterson Dean, for being so willing to keep them around for as long as he had, thinking that they are still hope for those Slifer slackers, plus while we are adding to it, students who couldn't even pass the "Basic Skills for Dueling" test, which means they can hardly duel, or hardly win for that matter, and while we are on the subject matter of keeping them around, anyone who even supports them. That's why I intend to see them gone this year after we win the cup." Dorian took another jab at his drink just as he roasts on about his Obelisk Blue's high scores. "And besides, being an Obelisk means having the highest scores and highest dueling skills, that I won't lack in."

"Well don't count them out this year." Said by a very old voice just as the door opens. The person who comes out was a business suit wearing African American man with a almost bold, but short white hair. "Yes things have been bad for the Slifers recently, but it is still my school, and I do intend to see that the school years goes out with a hitch. And besides, there was one duelist in particular that interest me." Thomas said just as he enters the room. "I have a request for Mollow, can you test her personally?"

"I will, besides, if the rumors are true, I like to see that deck in action." Mollow respond with a warm smile.

"Hold up for a minute, they aren't allow to use personal decks in the duel among the test givers, we provide the decks for them?" Dorian sighed in annoyance, but the others took it well.

"Well I can amend the rules as needed, plus its like what Mollow said, if this is true, I wanna see it for myself. Rumor has it, it wasn't seen in action for more than 15 years ago, apparently after what happened." Thomas also said with a smile, while also remembering a tragedy that happened many years ago. "To me, she was one of the greatest duelists of her day, up there with Yugi, Kaiba, and many others."

"Very well, I will see to it." Mollow said just as he got up and head out for the testing field. He is gonna be the one to test Sonia himself against her Elemental Dragon deck, supposedly not in action for 15 years, to see if the stories and rumors of its powers are true. Whatever that is, he is about to have a big match off.

Back with Marcus

After several hours, Marcus got the job done, fixing the toilets and cleaning up the shit that was there. He was just ready for this day to be over so he can just collect his last check and start looking for another job. After finishing the last repair, he puts all of his tools in the bag and begins to head out, just as he got out of the restroom, he ends up bumming into another person. The guy was just wearing a normal fancy suit like he was heading out for dinner, and was someone with a small beard and mustache on his face, and a nicely dress haircut that highlights the brown color that it has. He also looked like he was in his mid 40s as well, and he seems to smile at the guy after bumming into him, but also Marcus was looking positively livid.

"Oh sorry about…. Oh hi there, Marcus Farburn, how was your life as of lately?" said the man who's green eyes were looking at him.

"Well fine, why do you care?"

"Well that isn't something you wanna say to an old friend of yours. You remember me, from our dueling days in the tournament, Alex Matader, top duelist in the last several years, and now to be head of a dueling class in Duel Academy, teaching the next generation of duelists how to follow in my footsteps. Taking a year of tournaments off to teach the new generation." Alex smiled just as he tries to give Marcus a hug, only for him to shove him away.

"Well I don't need your sympathy or your hug, I got places to be, and perhaps a beer to drink as well." Marcus grunted just as he tries to leave, only for Alex to stop him again.

"Is their a problem of getting reacquainted with old buddies. I know times have been rough for you lately since you got out of prison, so I just want to be able to say hi and perhaps do you a favor if you really wanted it. Come on, try to get back into the good life."

"Well I have a fine life right here myself, and I don't need you screwing it up." Marcus said just as he walks out.

"Well what life is that, cleaning toilets and houses for a living?" Alex tried to say just as he leaves, but to no avail.

Marcus was just seen walking his way through the halls just as he sees a few young hopeful students come by, all sharing some gossips and talking to each other about their great decks and lives. Just as he passes by, he then shouts out loud. "Dreams aren't fucking reality people, the whole is a cruel place, it eats you up and spits or shits you right now. Work hard, live well!" he shouts out with a bit of glee and annoyance. The students just looks at him and then they just reply, well at least one of them. "What is his problem?"

Alex Matader then came by and then responded to the kids. "Well that was Marcus Farburn, former pro-league duelist who served a 15 year sentence for some crime, and now is a waste of life on this Earth, banned from all dueling leagues because of a cheating incident that happened a long time ago, but no one ever knows about him these days, as everyone wanted to forget about him or the fact he ever existed. My advice for you folks, don't get put in Slifer Red, study well, duel well, and you will be winners one day, take it from a champion who is gonna be y'alls teacher this year."

"Are you really?" the potential students squealed in excitement, especially the girls. This made Alex blushed a bit, but also happy. "Oh you bet I am."

Back with the Dueling Gang

Sonia, Molly, and Bentley were all enjoying their snacks as they were watching the duels and reviewing each others decks in preparations for their upcoming school years and such. Bentley was the most nervous of the bunch as he admitted that he doesn't have much dueling experience, though does understand the game and how everything works. That explains why he had the highest grades among the 3, with Molly a close second. Sonia of course just being okay, given that her job to her family's business had to intervene on the matter. Molly was looking at Sonia's deck, and was noticing all the cards, and was just amazed to see some beauty in not only their design, but in absolute power.

"Wow Sonia, this is amazing, are you sure this isn't your mother's deck?" Molly asked, joking her friend.

"Well, its my deck. I didn't know much about my mother, she died when I was just a baby. I was… actually… adopted." Sonia said, with some sadness just as she took her cards back.

"Wow, I am so sorry to hear that." Bentley replied, also sad for his newfound friend. Molly was also sad about it too.

"Its okay, I kinda know what it feels like, to know almost very little to nothing about our mothers', mine left when I was young, and I never know why." Molly said. "I was just raised by my dad, and he would never tell me why she left us."

"Well, that's then, and here is now. I am just ready to know who I am gonna have to duel to get in." Sonia smiled just as she took back her deck and smiled, and then suddenly a voice on the intercom came on, announcing the next list of testers.

"Sonia Stryker, Bentley Carson, Reiko Katisume, and Molly Endlone, please proceed to the dueling arena at once." Said the announcer.

"Looks like that is our cue, time to head and duel." Molly said, grinning in the process. "Let's all meet back here as soon as we are done."

"We will." Bentley and Sonia smiled.

The duelists took their respective decks and such and proceeded to the hallway before entering the Duel Arena, from there, they also saw Reiko Katisume already grabbing her provided deck and Duel Disk that was allowed for testing. Molly and Bentley also grabbed their test deck and Duel Disk as well and proceeded to head out. Sonia then proceeds to grab her Duel Disk, but notices that there wasn't a deck inside. How strange, for the test duels, a test provided deck is given to all of the students for them to use against the test givers. Is this a joke? Is Sonia not given a test deck for her to use for her match.

"Uh… where is my test deck?" Sonia asked, as she ask the test admin about why her Duel Disk doesn't have a test deck inside.

"That would be because of me." Said by an old man's voice just as a guy in a business suit comes straight in, now wearing a fancy duel disk that several older teachers used to wear. The kind where on the stomach area where the deck and Life Point Counters are, and the hovering dueling playfield right on the waist area or such. (Its what Dr. Crowler wore during his day) "My name is Mollow Bashad, but you can call me Dr. Bashad, and I am gonna be your test giver for this duel."

"Hello there Dr. Bashad, was just wondering where my test deck is? Aren't we not allowed to use our own personal decks for the dueling exam?" Sonia asked, as she was wondering where her test deck is, and Mollow smiled.

"Well, let me explain that for you. You are gonna use your own deck for this match, and the reason why being is simple. Supposedly, you are the daughter of the legendary duelist known as Raven Stryker, the holder of the Elemental Dragons, something that you have, and… we and my partners from above would love to see them in action during your examination."

"So you wanna see my dragons, well I only used them twice, both in a duel against my dad who runs a Indian food joint, and both times I was just playing it on the table, not with a duel disk, plus I only dueled a few times in my life." Sonia said, confused on the situation, but as she and Mollow head out onto the field, where Molly, Bentley, and Reiko were already dueling, Mollow continued to have an ensuring smile during the entire time.

"Well there is a first time for everything in life, including using those same cards on a dueling disk in an arena, and besides… you and your mother are more related than you think, even if you don't know it yet." Mollow said just as he prepares his Duel Disk.

"Well, okay then… I guess I gotta give it a try." Sonia smiled just as she brings out her deck and places it in her Duel Disk. "Alright, its time to Duel."

To Be Continued

A/N: Alright, I know I am ending the chapter on a cliffhanger, right before the first move of the duel has started, but I wanted to get this chapter released in time for Christmas. I will try to have the next chapter coming up soon. I gonna tell you, that for the first few chapters, I am kinda going to be going out of order on the events on how I tell this story, as I am gonna be experimenting with a non-linear structure, and using a storytelling trick which tells the story out of order. Also, I do intend for this story to be darker than most, given I am going to dive into the political aspect of the Dueling World, and even include some social commentary on the whole caste system, and such, and actually have the stakes for Slifer Red be even higher, as it was kinda like a plot element that was started in the older Yugioh GX seasons, and was suddenly toss out. Also, you might not like how I am introducing some of these legacy characters, but I do have a plan for them to each connect to the legacy of the Academy in some way, that makes them willing to return to teach a new generation. I will take feedback from y'all on this, and I will say I will try to keep some lighter and softer episodes every so often.

Now on the big announcement, I am opening a forum to where y'all can create OCs and made up decks and cards that you like for me to use in our story, if I like it of course. And also to where you can discuss with me things on this story, or if you wanna just RP or chat about life and stuff. Its up to you. That's it for me, until next time… and Merry Christmas.
