(Warning: This fic compared to my other fic, "To Reach The Limit", is going to be a lot gorier, and a lot more explicit, albeit I don't think it is worth putting an M-rated tag, but still, be aware.)
Kore was an aspiring trainer, and at the age of 15, he departed for his very own journey.
Ever since he was a child, he had an…obsession with water Pokemon., this obsession progressed even further after a trip to the Cerulean sister's show, (Which may or may not have also led him to have a crush on the cerulean sisters.)
For his starter, his loving parents gave him a Wooper, a year before his departure, the adorable Pokemon loved Kore, and he felt the same back. He ended up nicknaming the Wooper Exeo. He spent nights researching the axolotl Pokemon, watching battles involving it and its evolution, and memorizing the fish Pokemon's moveset from the back of his head.
It's been two weeks since his departure, the road to pewter had been rough, and full of dangers, he vividly remembered the beedrill nest that he angered and the spunky Spinarak that poisoned Exeo.
But, the journey to pewter didn't have upsides to counteract the downsides, however, as in Viridian, he managed to fight a migrating Horsea, and managed to catch the Seahorse Pokemon, which he named Hydra.
"Exeo, Hydra, how ya feeling?" Kore asked the two water Pokemon, and all of them were just relaxing in the rooms the Pokecenter provided for them, Hydra had to be placed in a large water tank, however, as they can't maneuver on land until she evolves into a Seadra.
Exeo smiled, as the Axoltol Pokemon jumped around the bed. Hydra seemed content swimming and floating in the water tank, she wasn't very aggressive, albeit formidable in battles, during the rare chances where Kore can use her.
"Tomorrow we will be fighting the Pewter gym," Kore said, "Hydra, I'm sorry, but you won't be able to participate."
The Seahorse Pokemon nodded solemnly, Kore felt bad for not being able to use Hydra more often, as he was sure that the Seahorse Pokemon loved battling just as much as Exeo.
"Exeo, it'll be all up to you." Kore explained, "I know you are strong, and I am confident in your power and abilities."
The Wooper nodded, shooting small jets of water, which Kore has observed to be a sign of excitement from Exeo.
A faint smile trickled across his face, as he patted the small fish Pokemon on the head.
Tomorrow would be a life-changing day.
"Challenger, Kore Eversor, please step up to the platform!" The referee shouted as Kore exhaled, clenching Exeo's Pokeball.
"Both sides, please link your ranged Pokedex communication device to your Pokemon, so you can command your Pokemon from the safety of the platforms!"
Kore linked the device to Exeo's Pokeball, the ranged communication device, or just RCD was a way to communicate to your Pokemon during league-licensed battles without having to risk being caught in the crossfire. It works by attaching a small chip to the Pokeball, which will thus link your Pokedex to your Pokemon, and when your Pokemon is released, it means you can command them through the microphone function in the Pokedex.
"First gym badge, Two verses One, broadcasted to Newbie trainer Broadcasting, or NTO!"
There was a small crowd in the relatively small stadium, Kore chose to ignore the dozen or so people observing him, potentially even more from the NTO broadcasting show, which is a show broadcasting all gym leader battles under 4 gym badges in Kanto.
"The Gym leader will release his Pokemon first!" The referee shouted, before blowing a whistle, which pierced Kore's ears.
In a flash of brilliant scarlet light, a rather intimidating Geodude appeared, growling and pounding his firm body.
"Exeo, it's time to battle!" Kore shouted, in a flash of brilliant scarlet light.
"My best bet at winning this battle…"
"Is through sheer offensive power!"
"Rain dance!" Kore shouted, through his extensive research, he found out that Wooper can learn rain dance at an incredibly young age, which will be huge to winning this battle.
"Interesting, not many newbie trainers use rain dance or any weather strategy for that matter! Brock praised, and the crowd seemed to nod in agreement, which made Kore feel somewhat more confident.
The rain poured down on both sides Pokemon, Exeo enjoying the rain, while the Geodude, judging by its frown, not so much.
"Rollout!"
"Water gun and mud shot!"
The Geodude curled up into a ball, before charging at Exeo, the axolotl Pokemon fired the rain-dance boosted water gun, halting the Geodude, which was then sent hurling with a mud shot.
"Continue firing water gun!"
"Rock tomb!"
The Geodude hurled boulders at Exeo, who swiftly jumped on top of them, before firing another stream of water.
The Geodude was sent flying, but suddenly rolled into a ball and crashed into Exeo, who fell to the ground with a thud, "Mist!"
Exeo suddenly puffed out steam so thick and suffocating, it covered the entire battlefield.
"Wooper live in swamps with thick water evaporation, which means they are naturally able to guide themselves through the foggy mess…"
"But Geodude can't."
"Geodude, rock tomb, and roll out!"
Exeo easily evaded the inaccurate boulders with a swift motion, "Water gun!"
The Axolot sent the Geodude into the air, and plummeted to the floor with a thud, as Exeo fired a stream of water.
"Now, rapid fire!"
Exeo attacked with no mercy as it repeatedly fired streams of water at the Geodude, who was helpless as it was sent flying several feet.
"That's enough, Geodude!" Brock shouted, "Return!"
"That was an impressive show of basic strategy and proficiency, good job!" Brock praised, "Now, it's time for the real battle to begin!"
In a flash of brilliant scarlet light, a massive Onix appeared, towering over the battlefield and being just a bit shorter than the spectator platforms, as a bright blue force shield suddenly engulfed the platform, to prevent any unnecessary injuries in the bystander seats.
"Tch, Mist wouldn't work well against Onix due to its massive size, so I have to rely purely on rain dance and attacks."
"Water gun and mud shot!"
"Tail slam and bind!"
The Onix roared before slamming its tail, knocking the much smaller Exeo into the air, before crashing down with a thud, but the Axoltol fired a jet stream of water, which caused the Onix to stumble, before crashing into the bystander platform, but the psychic barriers prevented any real damage.
The massive behomthed roared again, before slamming its tail, and this time, catching Exeo mid-air, before tightening its tail and thus squeezing the Axolotl.
"Exeo!"
"It's over, you can't do anything against Onix's bind!" Brock hollered, the crowd murmured, as Kore grunted.
"Kore, this Wooper is not just an ordinary Wooper, this Wooper was bred with a Mankey, meaning not only is it a lot more physically powerful and suited for combat, but it also knows the special move counter."
"Thank you, old man!"
Kore saw the pained expression on Exeo, awaiting his command…
And he grinned.
"Counter!"
Brock's eyes widened, as Exeo suddenly burst with power, before slamming into the Onix, and causing it to crash into the psychic barriers once again.
"Phew! That was close, counter was a real lifesaver."He thought to himself as he breathed a huge sigh of relief, but knew the battle wasn't over.
"I would be lying if I said I expected that," Brock said, "It seems I got outplayed."
The rain was slowly fading, which meant that Kore needed to take the opportunity to finish the battle.
"Water gun, mud shot if it's still standing!"
"Tail slam!"
The Onix reared its massive tail, before slamming the ground which shook the battlefield, but Exeo fired several streams of water, before being knocked into the air and falling with a thud.
The Onix still stood, however.
"Rock tomb!"
In a bloodcurdling roar, several boulders were hurled straight at Exeo.
The Axolotl grinned, before hopping onto the several boulders, and firing a mud shot right at the middle of the Onix's large face, at the exact moment the rain faded.
The massive beast fell to the floor with a loud thud, as Exeo jumped on top of the beast, running excitedly.
A wave of pride swelled in Kore's heart, as he grinned.
The Wooper was bruised and injured, despite the few attacks it took compared to the Onix, yet still, the Axolotol has the same derpy grin on its face.
"You did great." Kore praised, as Exeo simply grinned back.
"The winner is challenger Kore Eversor!" The referee announced, as claps could be heard around the crowd, Kore grinned even more.
"You did great out there," Brock said, ruffling his brown hair, "I gotta say, you caught me off guard quite a bit out there, it's not every day a new challenger sweeps my team, even if they have a type advantage."
"Thank you for your kind words," Kore replied, grinning ear to ear.
"I think you are more than deserving of the boulder badge," Brock stated, before sliding out a small, gray, and boulder-shaped badge, Kore happily accepted the gym badge.
"Now, here's the technical machine, Rock tomb." Brock said, "I am sure that Wooper of yours can make great work of it."
"Thank you so much!" Kore thanked, heart beating.
"It's my pleasure as a gym leader to guide the young," Brock said proudly. "I hope we can meet again in the future when you've become even stronger."
Brock waved goodbye, before leaving.
Then, the simple fact that he had won with only Exeo set in…
"That was so fucking fun!"
"Hey, Mom-"
"YOU FINALLY CALLEDD!" His mom squealed, "I saw your battle against Brock on NTO!"
"My little boy has grown so handsome, the way you commanded Exeo and…and…And-"
"Calm down, Maggy." A voice said It was Kore's father and Ex-ranger, Sayer Eversor.
"I am calm!" His mom exclaimed, Kore grinned at his mom's bombastic behavior but decided to step in.
"No you are not, mom, you're too old for that much excitement it seems." Kore jokingly said, "No I am not!"
"So, anyways…"His dad pushed into the call, he wore his usual suit and tie, with a Pichu on his left shoulder.
"That counter was pretty impressive, watching that battle brought me back to my old days…"
"But, anyways, congratulation on your first badge, it was very entertaining to see your battle!" His father congratulated him, grinning.
"Now, I will switch your mom over before she gets grouchy."
"Anyways, Kore, please stay safe!" Said her mom, as faint purring could be heard from behind the phone.
"Sorry, Meowth is getting hungry, I'll see you when you arrive at Cerulean, and remember to always switch-"
"Mom!" Kore groaned, as her mom laughed heartily.
"Kidding, hun!"
"Stay safe, and goodbye!"
"You too, mom," Kore replied, before hanging up.
Kore thanked the nurse for allowing him to use their phones before entering his room, it was quite spacious, and there was also some food on the counter, likely brought to him by the caretakers at the center.
Kore approached the water tank, before releasing Hydra, who appeared underwater in a flash of brilliant scarlet light.
The Horsea looked at Kore curiously, as Kore returned with a grin.
Exeo sat beside him, jumping on the bed excitedly.
"Exeo here defeated both of Brock's team members, and only needed some potions used on him!" Kore exclaimed as Hydra turned to Exeo, with eyes of approval, as Exeo simply grinned back.
"Hydra, I am sure you will be just as strong in the future, and I can't wait for your evolution, because then, the world will recognize your power!"
Hydra swam around in a circle inside of his tank, shooting water into the air, eyes determined.
Kore grinned at the gesture, as Exeo seemed to join in the fun, as the Axolotl spewed small streams of water at the Horsea, who glared back at the Axoltol, but didn't care too much.
Kore laughed at the two Pokemon's interaction.
Today had been a brand new experience for Kore, and he felt ready to face anything that came his way.
LINE BREAK
One shake…
Two shakes…
Three shake- Argh!"
"Damn it!" Kore exclaimed as the Poliwag broke free from the ball, glaring.
He had approached one of the bodies of water in Route four and found a Poliwag standing beside a lake.
"Hydra, Go!"
The Horsea materialized in the lake, battle ready.
"Exeo, Mud shot, Hydra, Twister!"
The Horsea fired a gust of powerful winds at the Poliwag, who futilely fired a water gun back, which simply dissipated against the powerful winds.
The gusts of wind sent the Poliwag hurling, as Exeo then fired a mud shot, knocking the Poliwag several feet away.
Kore slid a great ball from his pockets, "Exeo use mud shot again!"
The Poliwag readied a water pulse, before firing it at Exeo, who jumped to the left, dodging the attack, before firing another Mud shot at the Poliwag, the Poliwag was sent flying into the air, before plummeting to the ground.
"Now!"
He enlarged the Great ball and threw it at the weakened Poliwag.
One shake…
Two shakes…
Three shakes…
Ding!
"We did it!" Kore exclaimed, as his Pokemon celebrated by firing several streams of water into the air.
Kore quickly released the Poliwag, who surprisingly didn't try anything.
"Well, I am your trainer now." Kore explained, "I will make you stronger, and provide you shelter and proper food, in exchange for cooperation, sounds good?"
The Poliwag didn't seem to have a problem with it, trotting over to Hydra and shooting her in the face with a water gun.
"Now, no fighting!" Kore said sternly, "You all are teammates, so fighting is not allowed."
Kore slid out his Pokedex, before scanning the Poliwag.
The Tadpole knew body slam, hypnosis, water pulse, water gun, and Doubleslap, additionally, it was male and had the ability swift swim, which Kore knew would be useful.
"So, buddy, would you like a nickname-"
A weak stream of water splashed on his face, "I guess not…"
"Alright, let's move on forward, shall we?" Kore said, after drying himself.
Kore groaned, as the hot summer sun of Kanto shined on him, the trek to was much more difficult than he had thought, as there was less shade, unlike in Viridian forest and the other routes, albeit there were less wild Pokemon here.
"I wonder if I can drink the water produced by Pokemon? Are they like saliva…?"
Kore decided to not think about that, as he could already see from afar.
LINE BREAK
"Finally…"
"A-Almost…"
"There-"
"Hey, do you want to have a Pokemon battle-"
"NOOOOO!"
After crushing a random kid's dreams, he finally made it to .
He entered the massive cave/mountain( WHAT IS IT?) The inside was dark, eerie, and cold.
He had Poliwag and Exeo out at all times, just in case, although most of the Zubats and Geodudes just ignored him, he occasionally saw a few odd-looking clefairy, but he didn't pay much attention to them, they weren't water type, and he only had eyes for water types.
Suddenly, he heard weird noises…
Shrieking.
A faint, scream.
It sounded like a Zubat, and Kore, being curious, decided to go check it out.
As he approached, the screams grew louder and louder…
He had to cover his ears in pain, as he peeked a head out from behind a large boulder.
His eyes widened, as he saw it…
Puddles of blood, as a massive Crobat, laid beaten, blood oozing from its many wounds, wings crooked and disfigured, nearly ripped off, as its face was nearly unrecognizable, large teeth laid in the puddle of blood.
"Tch, that Crobat seemed to be worthwhile, but some fucker decided to go a tad bit overboard…" A gruff voice said, he wore full black, with a large, orange R on the middle of his…Uniform?
"Such vile language, learn some manners." A feminine voice retorted, and as a deep growl could be heard, Kore peeked his head out again and saw a hefty-looking Graveler beside them, he quickly retracted behind the large boulder.
"Sure, , you were the one that bashed its head in with a rock slide." The voice replied, "Oh…"
"It seems Haunter's found something…No, Somebody interesting."
Kore's blood froze, as Poliwag and Exeo cowered behind him.
"Boy, behind that boulder…"
Kore's eyes widened, as he waited to signal his Pokemon to run.
"You can't hide from ghosts!"
He ran, and in a flash, the boulder was crushed with insane might.
His eyes turned to the Graveler, whose entire body was full of muscle, as it roared in pain and anger.
"Drug F-6, Prototype seems to be working, hm, Graveler, crush that boy!"
The Graveler hurled a massive boulder at Kore, who futilely tried to flee.
"Wartortle, hydro pump!"
In a flash, the boulder was crushed to mere crumbs, as a haughty trainer stood behind the Sea turtle Pokemon.
"Brat, get out of here, leave it to the rangers!" The ranger shouted, "I report, Rockets in , backup recommended-"
Suddenly, in an explosion of purple energy, the man was sent tumbling.
"Tch, Kangaskhan it's time to fight!" The man shouted as the Pokemon appeared, letting out a powerful roar.
Then, to Kore's horror, an explosion happened…
"Weezing, you did your pathetic job…"The gruff man said, "Now, Umbreon, use hyper beam!"
The Umbreon's eyes glowed a dark red, obviously enhanced by rage and drugs, as it released an overwhelmingly powerful hyper beam, which collided with the helpless Wartortle, who was sent flying, as it was then suddenly sent flying several feet into the air, before crashing to the ground with a loud thud, unconscious.
"Return-"
"Stone edge!"
The Graveler launched multiple, large stone pillars, piercing through the turtle's shell itself, as blood seeped through the wound, and as the Wartortle's eyes bulged, "Return!"
The trainer helplessly clicked on the button repeatedly, to no avail.
Kore's eyes widened, in fear and shock, as the Kangaskhan was sent flying with another stone edge and hyper beam.
The ranger hastily released all of his Pokemon, a Vileplume, Butterfree, and Ninetales.
"Ninetales, flamethrower-"
The Graveler roared in pain, anguish, and anger, as it sent massive stone pillars, which crushed the Ninetales, "Earthquake!"
The entire mountain shook, as chasms and cracks, formed, and the Ninetales was killed with another swift stone edge, its entire body bleeding, as it attempted one last attack, only to have its face cleanly torn and burned off by a hyper beam.
"Butterfree…Hypnosis!"
Kore couldn't move, as the only thing he knew at the time…
Was Fear.
He tried to run, but he couldn't…
The Butterfree attempted hypnosis, but it was simply crippled by the Hyper beam, and then crushed with rock, blood spilling from its body, forming a puddle under the rocks it was being crushed under.
Kore got up, images of the flashing blood, attacks, and dead Pokemon flashing through him.
He ran…
And yet, he turned back, to see the Kangashkan's child be brutally incinerated with another hyper beam, and then the mother was brutally beaten down with dark pulses and crunches, as the Vile plume's flower was ripped off by Graveler's sheer brute strength, as it's entire body was pierced by the stone edge, blood oozing on the rock pillars.
"This is…"
He turned around, only to see the Pokemon slowly approaching the trainer.
"Hell."
He heard screams, he heard cries of terror from the trainer, and…
In a massive explosion, he saw a massive Steelix.
Yet he didn't feel a single ounce of happiness.
