Star Wars: Saviors of the Galaxy

Resurrection

Chapter 1

Silence was all that he heard, blackness was all he saw. It felt like he was being born again, as there was nothing around him. Then a bright light appeared, and he heard a voice call out to him. Turning his head, the man started to move towards the light which grew brighter and brighter as he got closer.

Awakening from this, the Man found himself floating in a medical tank. Attached to his face was a breathing mask, the only clothes on him were a pair of shorts. Looking outside the tank to see where he was, it looked like a medical room on board a Star Destroyer. Confused, he tried to piece together how he ended up in this place, and what exactly happened to him during the battle.

While trying to figure out these questions, two droids entered the room, which got the man's attention. Their appearances were puzzling to him; one was a gray colored protocol droid and the other was a medical droid. He watched as the pair went over to a control panel and pressed some buttons. The next thing he knew, two mechanical arms plunged into the medical tank, took hold of him, and swiftly removed him from the liquid.

The arms lowered him down, and he was quickly dried off. After the breathing mask was removed, the man was put in a medical gown before being guided to a mobile hoverchair. He tried to speak, but no words came out. The droids indicated that he should not attempt to speak yet, but wait. Then they guided him out of the room.

After traveling down an empty hallway, the group turned left into a room where two humans stood waiting. One was a man with long black hair that hung far down his back. The second was a woman with short purple hair. Both were the same height, and they wore the same dark robes. The man's face looked young, yet their was a look of experience in his eyes. The woman had two markings beneath her eyes that resembled two upside down pyramids.

"How is our guest?" the woman asked.

"His wounds have healed, and he should be able to move again soon," the droid replied in a mechanical tone.

"Good to hear. You're dismissed," the man said, and the two droids complied, leaving the guest with his two new hosts.

"Now then, I'm sure your wondering what's going on?" the woman asked.

"The thought had crossed my mind," he answered.

"We shall answer all your questions in time Thrawn," the long haired man added with a smirk.

This got the blue skinned alien's attention. How did these strangers know his name? They didn't look like agents of the New Republic based on their appearance.

"Since you are wondering who we are, let us introduce ourselves. I am Magus and this is Temporal," the man said as he gestured to himself and his companion. Thrawn blinked in surprise upon hearing their names.

"And you of course are Mitth'raw'nuruodo of the Chiss, or Thrawn as most beings call you," Temporal said next.

"That is correct, but tell me this. Why am I here and how am I alive as I should be dead!" Thrawn stated as he looked at the two.

Both looked at each other, who nodded as each took a deep breath as they begin. "We are beings of great power, from a plain far beyond what you can imagine. We are the Observers!" both said loudly in unison, their eyes glowing bright white.

The two looked at Thrawn, who sat silently and said nothing. "You don't seem surprised by this Thrawn?" Magus asked, one eyebrow raised.

"Given my experiences with those like The Emperor or Darth Vader, nothing surprises me. But now that you've told me who you are, I wish to know why I'm still alive," he responded calmly.

"That is simple. We healed your wounds using medical means and a little bit of our power," Temporal answered, pointing to where he had been stabbed.

Looking down, Thrawn saw that underneath his medical gown the stab wound had been healed.

"I see...now tell me why you have saved my life?"

The two then stepped aside as a image screen appeared.

"The reason we have saved you, Thrawn, is because you are needed to help save the galaxy!" Magus said first as an picture of the galaxy appeared.

Thrawn saw that the image showed areas that were highlighted by different colors; one colored red, another blue and several white.

"What you see is how the galaxy looks 16 years after your death at Bilbringi. A decade after that battle, peace was reached between the New Republic and the Empire."

The next image showed a bird-looking alien signing a document with an Imperial officer Thrawn recognized.

"That's-!" he started to say in surprise.

"Yes, it's Captain Pellaeon, or rather Admiral Pellaeon, I should say. Leader of the Imperial Remnant," Magus added.

Hearing that his second in command had become the leader of the Imperial forces was quite a shock for Thrawn. "Hold on you said the Imperial Remnant? When did this occur?"

"You've missed quite a lot while you've been gone. So allow us to inform you of what has transpired."

The two began by telling him of about Operation Shadowhand, which the saw the return of Emperor Palpatine, who used new super-weapons and fleets of great power and destruction.

Next they told him about the attacks by an Imperial officer named Daala, The Destruction of Carida, The Battle at Maw Instillation, Daala and Pellaeon creating the Remnant after the death of the Warlords, and numerous failed attempts to destroy the New Republic.

They also told him about the rebuilding of the Jedi Order, the Black Fleet Crisis, the Corellian Insurection and finally the events that lead to the peace treaty the two spoke of.

Once the two were done, silence followed as Thrawn took in this information. So much had happened since his death, a part of him wondered how things would have gone if he had survived. But such thinking was pointless now, as Thrawn asked the next major question.

"I thank you for letting me know this, but I take it there's a reason for showing me the galaxy in this point in time?" Thrawn asked as he looked at the image.

Both Observers knew it was time to tell him, so they showed an area of the map which was near the edges of known space.

"In this area of space, an important event takes place. One that will change the course of history. Something that you have known was coming long ago, Thrawn." Temporal said to him.

Thrawn's red eyes went wide as he looked at the two. "You mean to say that-?" he asked with a look of concern.

"Yes...The Yuuzhan Vong arrive to invade the galaxy," both said together, as images showed the invaders attacking numerous worlds across space, destroying cities, armies, and worlds in their conquest.

"The invasion begins in this area where the first force arrives. They attack the planets in the region in which millions are killed," Magus stated, as he showed Thrawn the events that took place.

"How did the New Republic or the Remnant respond?" Thrawn asked.

"The New Republic didn't take this threat seriously when it started. But when one of the planets that was part of their government as threatened, they took action and allied themselves with the Remnant to fight the Vong." The woman responded as she showed him what took place at Ithor.

'So it took the danger of one of their worlds for them to take the Vong seriously. Whom ever is leading that government must be an fool!' Thrawn thought.

"This is why we brought you back, your needed to lead the galaxy against the Yuuzhan Vong due your experience as a military leader and fighting against the invaders in the past."

"...I see, so you are going to send me to the future. Where I shall command the Remnant against the Vong!" He stated at first, but saw both shake their heads at him.

"No, you can not lead the Remnant as that would interfere with events that have already been set in motion. And we can not have those whom followed you before learn about us." Magus responded back.

"THEN WHY SEND ME AT ALL!" Thrawn shouted as he was starting to get annoyed at these games. Temporal didn't like his tone as she used her powers to hold him down which made it hard for him to breath.

"DO NOT EVER SPEAK TO US LIKE THAT MORTAL!" The woman said as her voice grew darker as did the room. "Temporal, calm yourself my dear, remember we need him." Magus responded as he stood in front of her.

After a few moments of this, the woman calmed herself as she loosened her grip on Thrawn. This allowed him to move and breath again.

"This one is arrogant, unlike the others we chose!" The woman grumbled as she looked at Thrawn. Hearing this got his attention as he looked the two. "I take it there are others whom you choose for task?"

"That is correct, we have picked a group of individuals from across time to aid those in their fight against the Yuuzhan Vong which include yourself." Magus answered as he told Thrawn about those he and Temporal choose.

For the next 30 minutes, Thrawn was told about the others which include a Jedi Master, his student, an former Imperial Officer. A young Jedi survivor, An Clone Solider and Mandalorian warrior. The Wookiee companion of the Solo's and a former Senator of the Galactic Republic.

'Quite a interesting collection, I wonder why they were picked specifically.' He wondered.

"They have connections to Luke Skywalker's family and friends. Which will prove crucial to bringing this war to an end." Temporal said to Thrawn, it surprised the man that she was able to hear his thoughts.

"Ahem, please do not do that again. Now then, how shall I perform my part in this plan of yours?" Thrawn asked in calm way.

Both beings changed the image of the map which showed an area of space. This location looked unknown to Thrawn as it had two planets and three moons. One colored red and the other blue with green.

"This region of space is how you shall play your part. Grand Admiral. These two planets and it's moons are uninhabited. A perfect location for one to use it's resources to create a means of fighting back." Magus stated as he gestured to the map.

Thrawn's eye's widened as he understood what they were asking him to do.

"You want me to create a army and navy using these planets resources."

"Correct, the ore on this planet is strong enough for one to make ships, vehicles and other means of creation. In addition, the soil is perfect for one to grow food and crops for the soldiers, officers and crew." Magus answered.

Thrawn's expression changed as he was impressed by what was being offered to him. "Those things are important. But to build such ships, would take facility's large and grand. Not to mention a means of training soldiers as well." He added.

"That can be taken care off." With a flick of her hand, Temporal made a number of ship yards and facility's appear on both planets.

"Anything else?" She asked in a smug way.

"Yes, I shall need to chose my staff as well. Including a specialist to help create the soldiers and crew for my fleet and it's crews. Also soldiers as well, but not just any regular soldiers. Experts in combat, espionage, team work and piloting." Thrawn exclaimed as he told the two.

Both said nothing as they made the map disappear. And in it's place was a computer. "This machine contains information on the various personal of the different factions. You may choose which ones you want to bring with you."

"Thank you, now if it's not to much trouble. May I have my uniform back." The alien asked as he had grown tired of the medical gown.

Like before, a snap of their fingers and Thrawn's Imperial Uniform was placed in his lap. "You may when we leave. After this, you may began choosing." Magus said, then disappeared with Temporal.

Once alone, Thrawn slowly got up from his hoverchair. Then dropped the medical gown as he put on his underclothes first, then the uniform last.

"Much better, now then. Let's see who can be of assistance to me."

Taking his time, Thrawn went over the list's of personal. He was careful who to choose as their were many divisions that were needed for his forces.

Once he had selected them. The computer screen changed as those chosen were highlighted. Then the machine disappeared as Thrawn found himself in a new location.

However this one was familiar to him with it's design and appearance. It was a Imperial Star Destroyer, but instead of there being officers. There were droids standing still at the consoles.

"We thought that you would like this as your personal flagship." A familiar voice said as Temporal and Magus appeared behind him.

"You were correct. So I take it that I'm back in normal space again." Both nodded yes to him.

"Correct and as to when you are. You've arrived three years before the invasion begins. And five years before the others arrive." Temporal stated in a serious way.

"And before you ask. You are not to intervene or change the outcome of the Invasion. Things must proceed the way they are." Magus added "This will allow you the time to build your forces in peace."

While Thrawn didn't like not being able to stop the Vong's arrival. He knew that arguing with the Observer's would be pointless. Besides time was of the essence. Thrawn had work to do and a dead line to meet.

"One more thing, this drive contains information what will prove useful for you. In it, you'll find the exact time and location that you are to aid the others at." Magus said as he handed Thrawn the device.

"Now, that is all we can do for you. The rest is up to you Grand Admiral Thrawn." Temporal said to him.

"I understand. I shall do my best." Thrawn repiled as he offered a short bow to them.

"We hope so. Good luck." Then in a flash both beings were gone. After this Thrawn, walked towards the viewscreen as stared out into space.

'It's good to be back.' He thought to himself as a smile formed.
