Chapter 1 - Chance Meeting I: Paradise Lost

[Group Chat #1]

[Members: Ryuga, Kanata]

Ryuga: Hey, Kanata. Are you there?

Kanata: I hear you. What is it? I heard you left Yongen a couple days ago.

Ryuga: So you found out? Well, I don't blame you. I'm… moving…

Kanata: You're moving out? Huh?

Ryuga: Siesta City.

Kanata: Wait a sec. Isn't that city home to yearly music festivals where all artists from all around the world gather here in America?

Ryuga: Bingo.

Kanata: So, why are you moving there, exactly?

Ryuga: I dunno. I somehow have this feeling… Prolly trying to chase that "American Dream" as what people say.

Kanata: Seriously? For real? I mean, are you gonna be okay living there?

Ryuga: I know what I'm doing so don't worry.

Kanata: But… didn't your sister die after you and I were young at the time?

Ryuga: Don't… Please don't go there…

Kanata: Sorry…

Ryuga: It's alright. Even though that past continues to haunt me. I just… I just wish to keep going forward. You don't even understand how my sister died. Actually… forget it. Sorry, I didn't mean to be this mad but… the past still haunts me.

Kanata: Right… anyways. Sayaka-san was worried about you ever since you left.

Ryuga: Tell her that I'm sorry as well… I'll talk to you later once I have the time.

Kanata: Okay, Ryuga-san. Stay safe.

2/24/2024 Siesta Terminal Station, Siesta City, USA Daytime - Clear Sky

I turned off my phone as I put it away in my pocket. I stood up from my seat just as the monorail stopped right at the station. There were not many people with me but only a few. The door slid open as I took a deep breath, stepping outside by planting my foot on the concrete ground. Just as I exited the train car and headed downstairs to the building as soon as I made it outside… I was finally greeted by the heat with the sun shining with no clouds at all. There were heat hazes where I could see the beaches barely filled with people and buildings from afar. I lifted my left arm to cover myself from the sun's brightness and heat as I started to look around my surroundings. This was indeed Siesta City… However… There was a yellow cab parked near the sidewalk as I approached it, opened the door and went inside where I was greeted by the driver who was smoking a cig.

"Where to, mister?" The man asked me with his gruff voice. It was completely English. However, I do have some experience of speaking that language so I began to speak it fluently.

"Pacifica Square." I said to him in fluent English as he nodded.

"Suit yourself." The driver replied as he drove the car to head straight into the city.

As minutes passed, I looked at the side of the window to act bored. This was my first time coming here. And from these postcards that I received from the mail back in my home in the rural town of Yongen. I brought out my postcard to take a closer look once again. This was supposed to represent paradise, a bunch of people enjoying the beach, surfing some waves, and grilling some barbeque. When I looked back at the window again… This was the harsh reality… There were people here at the beach, sure. But something isn't right. It was desolation. People walking on sand with a bottle of alcohol on their hands, other people passing out face first on the sand, and young people in their high school age like I am were beating up a harmless man with fists and kicks. Yet, there's nothing I can do to intervene but to watch him suffer as he was being pummeled to death by a bunch of kids. Yet, it felt different compared to those postcards.

"First time coming here?" The driver asked me.

"Yeah… It is." I said to him bluntly as I continued to watch.

"Y'know, you never see things like this happen here in this city. Including the beach. Man, I miss going there. Now, what's there instead is just death. Last time, there were hot babes that you could flirt with. And thanks to that Daytime Security Law and ridiculous rules that were implemented last year… Recently, the mayor added daily night curfews to curbstomp potential crime. It ain't paradise anymore the way you see it… the mayor of the city announced a cancellation of the yearly Siesta Music Festival due to the supposed gas leaks. Things aren't just the same anymore. Just your typical normal paradise that people are trying to survive. You get what I mean?" The driver said to me as I nodded with a noise as I seemingly understood what happened. "By the looks on your face… You're Japanese, are ya?"

"Yeah?" I replied.

"Name?" He asked.

"Ryuga Ashikaga." I said my name to him.

"Ryuga, huh? You're a long way from Japan, kiddo. The city ain't safe as it used to be. Tell me, why are you here in Siesta?" The driver asked me.

"I'm most likely… trying to hunt for a job that I can land on." I told him about it.

"A job… There's tons of them all around the city, sure. You just need experience if you wanna find out." The driver said as he turned to the right and entered right into the city where I continue to watch… However, I noticed a heavily armored SUV near the sidewalk as there were three armed soldiers aiming their weapons at civilians who were harmlessly picked on with their hands over the back of their heads. "Tch… BlackSteel… These guys are a pain in the ass, I tell ya. The mayor had apparently hired them to keep control of the city from spiraling into chaos. Act suspicious, they'll detain you on the spot for no reason. Damn, PMCs…"

"Uh huh…" I responded as I continued watching from the window as he kept driving, he turned to the left as he was still taking me to one of the most populated areas within Siesta. I started to look at some people where they were hanging near the stairway to the door where they were chilling just for a chat. And there are some in the alleyway kicking down a man which leads into one of the guys using a wooden bat, bashing him as there was some blood splatter on the ground. But this reminds me… "Hey, you haven't told me your name before."

"Oooh, right… I guess I haven't introduced myself, have I? The names Kyle McDouglas. Been doing this job for five years and counting. But I'll be honest here, there's no way in hell I'll ever quit this job. After all, I am getting paid. Aaaaand here's your stop." Kyle then stops the car as we finally arrive. The main area is called Pacifica Square. The main city felt like a futuristic-like utopia as if I found myself in the neon-drenched Miami.

Pacifica Square, Siesta City Daytime - Clear Sky

"Alright. Thanks." I said to him as I opened the door when I was getting ready to leave but… "Wait… do I have to pay you?"

"Nah, no need. You're a first timer here so I shouldn't be harsh to a job-hunting tourist like you. And make sure you stay safe, alright? BlackSteel is out and about so avoid making eye contact as much as possible. Don't ask why." Kyle informed me about it as I seemingly nodded. I closed the car door as he drove off. Now… I'm on my own. However, I'm not alone. I grabbed out my phone and looked at my messages as I looked at the second message which came from a messenger who's helping me named D.

D… an anonymous who claims to be part of the Mages Association in London. He or She was the one who helped me set up for my trip to this city. I tapped on the message in order to reply to D about my arrival.

[Group Chat #2]

[Members: Ryuga, D]

Ryuga: I'm here. In Pacifica Square in Siesta City.

D: Good. Now the next step is simple. I have one of my guys who managed to drop off the catalyst for you. Find my guy named Reginald, he currently works as a barista for the Astral Star Coffee. He's a guy wearing a shirt from the band called Queen. I'm sure you're familiar with it.

Ryuga: Uh huh… Then what should I do?

D: Talk to him that I sent you and he'll know. Once that, he'll provide you with the catalyst for your preparation. Once that, he'll provide you his apartment that he managed to rent out just for you. Once I provide you a pinpointed location, that is.

Ryuga: Can you send me the location of that coffee place or whatever?

D: Find it for yourself. Your phone has a map. And remember, just say to him that you're looking for a "job" and he'll understand.

Right… My phone has a map… I switched apps real quick to check the map of where I'm at. I started to move my finger to find where that place was until I saw it. It was not that far. I pressed the button to guide me there as it created the best path I can take. With the city seeing better days… I had to act normal and go about my day. That was one thing I had to do with those PMC guys that Kyle had mentioned. From the way I saw… they're ruthless.

Astral Star Coffee, Pacifica Square, Siesta City Afternoon - Clear Sky

As soon as I reached my destination, I found the place I needed to be. A regular coffee shop with people inside who are going about their day as well. The line was completely empty but there was one person working there. I quickly looked at myself from the glass reflection where I wore my lime-greenish jacket, black pants, and sneakers. But, I also checked my face where I have black hair. I still look good I guess. As soon as I entered the coffee shop, The table was crowded with people as I noticed a blonde man wearing a green apron with a Queen shirt under it. And his name pin shows his name… Reginald. I approached him on the counter where he was waiting for me…

"Hello, hello! Welcome to Astral Star Coffee! How may I help you today?" The man named Reginald spoke in his British accent. He was seemingly waiting for my order but… I'm not here for that.

"Umm… Yeah. I'm supposed to get a job here? I mean, I'm looking for one." I said to him as his usual expression dies down as he shifts to his slightly serious tone.

"Psst… D sent ya, right?" Reginald whispered to me as I nodded. "Aight… Follow me…"

He left his bar where I followed him right to the bathroom door where it was locked with a number pad. He easily puts in 4 digit code as he gains access as I follow him inside. Then, he closes the door with no one around… god damn… this place stinks…!

"So… from what I know. D is… a person who is straight to the point and never answers any questions that deems unimportant. But ever since that D's taken an interest in you due to your connection with the Clock Tower… I mean… you used to study there, right?" He said to me as I didn't feel like answering his question. I used to study there two years ago… until I left to return to my normal life, always helping out at my grandmother's rice cracker shop in Yongen because she needed my help. "Ooookay…? Nevermind then. We'll skip it. I know you're… straight to the point like D for example. However, I have the catalyst that D delivered me. I have it hidden somewhere so it's right over…. Aha! There!"

Reginald then opens up the grate near the ceiling which appears to be the vents where he takes out a black backpack that he hid. He took it out and put the grate back in. I took the bag from him where I took out a small box. I started to open it where it appeared to be… a branched blade? I closed the box and put it back in the backpack, zipping it and carrying it on my back.

"Thanks." I said to him as he swayed his hands with a gesture.

"Don't mention it. Today's my last job. After all… I hate working here. Be on your way. I'm sure D will update you on what's next. Oh and… here's the hotel key. You'll find the number there." Reginald said as he gave me the key for the hotel and left the restroom, making me the only one remaining here. I grabbed out my phone and messaged D on the update.

Ryuga: I got the catalyst from Reginald.

D: Good. The last one… is the hotel apartment that I mentioned that Reginald rented out for you.

Ryuga: What's next once I make my way there?

D: Remain in your apartment and wait til the clock strikes twelve. Once that, I'll pinpoint the location of where you should begin your summoning. One is for the hotel location. And the other is for your summoning location.

Ryuga: Thanks.

D: And this is where we part ways. I've done what I can to get you into this mess. Good luck and don't die.

D has left me with pinpoints of two different locations I was provided with. One is the hotel known as Vaporsea Hotel. And the other… I can't quite describe it. It looks like a gymnasium which looks abandoned. But what D has told me first is to get settled at the hotel and wait til midnight. I switched to the map to pinpoint the hotel that I'm supposed to go to as I left the restroom and the coffee shop as I began making my way there.

Vaporsea Hotel, San Aldecado, Siesta City Sunset - Clear Sky

After a 5 mile walk. I found myself the place where I need to be. A decent hotel apartment that looks generic. It ain't your typical luxurious type. But it was meant to be affordable for those who want to make a living. I grabbed out the key where the tag number says 53 on it. I began walking up stairs to find that exact number on the door until I found it. This has got to be the place. I used the key to insert it, turning it as it unlocked. So, I opened the door to go in as I closed the door. I turned around to see what it looks like… it looks… very generic… I can already assume the room is spacious with the main living room, kitchen, one bathroom, and one bedroom. This isn't much but I can live with it. It's currently sunset but this gives me the time to prepare until midnight. I sighed as I sat on the couch. There was a TV there as I grabbed the remote and turned it on, tuning in to some sports channel that I have no interest in. I began relaxing all slumped, staring at the ceiling with no lights on. The window curtains were closed as I could hear the television playing. But as the noise starts to go quiet… I started to remember that voice… my voice…

"It's that damn bastard…! This wasn't an accident… That asshole killed my sister in cold blood!"

I remember… I remember these words, saying those types of things to the person named D when I first contacted someone who is from the association at the Clock Tower… this was the time when I headed back to Yongen to live a normal life… but D sought me out… as if that person knew my intentions.

"True… But, what if I can offer you a chance. To make things right. To get revenge on a person. And to avenge your beloved sister. After all, the two of you come from a magus lineage slowly dying out. Like a lukewarm flame blown away by the wind."

D… D gave me a chance to set everything right… I am a magus. But my parents… they were killed when I was young. My sister was forced to live with our grandmother. But my sister… Takami… She was older than me, intelligent, smart… and taught me the basics of magecraft right from the start. And I learned from it. But I remember that murder scene… She was killed at our rice cracker shop when I was told by my sister to go out and shop for things that she needed… That haunted my life completely. And that past was from last year.

"Then please…! Let me prove myself! I want revenge! My sister's death will NOT die in vain! So please! Tell me!"

"Ever heard of the Holy Grail War? Nine years ago. There was a great battle between the two factions in Fuyuki. Unfortunately, nobody knows who won. However… I've already obtained information on the next war that will be taking place… Siesta. A man-made island, home to those yearly music festivals. I can assume that the American branch of the Mages Association has already managed to replicate it god knows who. So… Do you wish for my help? Participate in a war?"

"Anything… Anything I can to take part in it!"

"Then it's a deal… I'll inform you… when it's ready."

So, the voices of the past stopped. Those were the memories that I remember… accepting D's deal to participate in this Holy Grail War in Siesta. I have no clue if it has started yet but… there is one thing for sure… D has also provided me additional information about the war… Seven Masters and Seven Servants of each class. Whoever eliminates the entire competition, will be granted with that thing… the Holy Grail… It's said that it can accept any wish you want. Powerful as it maybe… I want to use this to get one wish and one wish only. Now that I'm going to be part of this war. There's no turning back now. But, I started to slowly close my eyes as I started to become increasingly tired from all of the traveling just to prepare myself for the night. Everything became silent, filled with nothingness. I begin to ponder just as I always do, having these dreams. Yet, I could never describe them in this vision. Scribbles of human figures… a mother and a child. The child would come back home after picking a flower from a forest that he would give his mother a nice flower. And she would accept it. But, she felt sadness from the flower, telling the child that picking the flower from the ground would cause it to die. The child did not know, but knew the lessons from her mother that life is everything. But on the next day, he did not heed his mother's lesson when he came back with two flowers in hand, ready to give them to his mother. But as it turns out… She had seemingly passed away on her bed, smiling. The father told him the news of her unexpected passing… he cried, knowing that he loved her. Thus, the scene ends. I started to wake up from this vision as I heard my phone setting off an alarm that I setted up, grabbing my phone to check… It was midnight. Exactly at 12 o'clock. I remember Kyle's words about this daily night curfew. This doesn't bring up the question about why. It's about doing the now. I stretched my arms and turned off the TV with the remote, heading out of my apartment with the door safely locked with the key. I brought out my phone to check the photos of the place that D had sent me. That gym… However, D had provided me with the pinpoint of where it is. It's located in the Nashwood area where it's supposed to be a middle-class residential district while San Aldecado is more of a lower-class residential district ridden with corruption and crime. But the only problem I need to deal with is those curfews here in this city. Which means I have to avoid them at all costs. As soon as I left the apartments. I headed to the backside of the building and began climbing the concrete wall as I began making my way there without using the phone's predetermined path. Yet, it feels strange that this curfew has begun but there are no police roaming around as if it feels way too quiet… way too quiet… But at least I know how to get there as long as I'm not seen.

Faraday Community Sports Center, Nashwood, Siesta City Midnight - Clear Sky

Many minutes of sneaking through corners and alleyways, I made it inside of the building that was left abandoned where I managed to pass through the torn open fences and opened the door inside where I found my way inside this place. The Gymnasium is the only place I need to be. As I stood in the middle of the basketball court. I grabbed out my phone and tapped on my notepad app where D had sent me the instructions as I began to read it on the screen in this quiet area with no one around. In order to do this… this would require me to draw the summoning circle that is. Thus, the bag contains stuff given by D. A special black ink of unknown substance that is meant to create a summoning circle. I began with the process as I grabbed out the small jar by opening the lid, placing two of my fingers which are now dipped in ink. I started to draw the circle based on the picture I received from the messages. Yet, I continued to keep my composure as I started to finish up drawing the lines including some small detail in general. After that's done, I cleaned my fingers with a napkin kept in my pockets and looked at my phone again to see the second step… place the catalyst in the middle and once that… say the chant to begin your summoning. Sounds easy enough. I brought out the box put from my bag and opened it, revealing the same catalyst again, that branched blade. I carefully took the blade and placed it in the middle. I took a step back a little as I took a deep breath, looking around my surroundings. I'm still in the clear but I'm ready… to begin my chant as I started to feel the warmth of mana in my body.

Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill.

Let each be turned over five times, simply breaking asunder the fulfilled time.

Let silver and steel be the essence.

Let stone and archduke of contracts be the foundation.

Let my great master Tsukumo be the ancestor.

Raise a wall, against the wind that shall fall.

Close the four cardinal gates.

Come out from the crown.

Rotate the three-branched road reaching the Kingdom.

I shall declare here.

Your body shall serve under me.

My fate shall be with your sword.

Submit to the beckoning to the Holy Grail.

If you will submit to this will and thy reason… then answer!

An oath shall be sworn here!

I shall have all virtues of all of Heaven.

I shall have dominion over all evil of Hell.

From the Seventh Heaven, attended to by three great words of power, come forth from the ring of restraint, O' Protector of the Balance!

I said my chant as the circle glowed as I felt the raging wind in this area. Just as I did… the bright light swallowed the entire area in this gymnasium. But, I started to feel a searing pain etching onto the back of my right hand. But right as the light dies down… I slowly opened my eyes where it was surrounded with smoke floating in the air due to the results of the summoning. What was there in front of me… was a young woman with white long hair and golden looking eyes. But the way she is wearing… It's some sort of a black armor. Is this really… a Servant? Then, she stood up from her kneeling position and opened her eyes with… a smile on her face.

"Servant Rider, has answered your summons. So I ask of you. Are you my Master?" The woman said to me as I noticed my right hand where it was a Command Seal… but it almost looked like it was in the form of two katanas and one spear pointed at each other. But since I managed to summon my servant for the first time… I spoke.

"Yes. I am your Master. The names Ryuga Ashikaga. Looking forward to working with you." I said to her as she was about to speak… We were suddenly interrupted by some unwanted guests that they managed to break in as he turned around. It was a group of people… about five of them wearing street clothing and crudely drawn joker-like smiles on their bandanas. Plus, they seemed to be carrying machetes and firearms ranging from pistols, SMGs, and shotguns… Just who the hell are these people?

"Well, well, well… Look who decided to show up right at our turf…" One of the men spoke as he had a spiked mohawk and a scar over his eyebrow. "Huh… so we got a kid and a hot ass babe right at our doorstep. Man, that's something you don't see everyday."

"Who are you people…" I demanded to know with a serious expression on my face as my Servant watched.

"Who are we? Naaah… Who are YOU?" The man continued as he readied his SMG as he cocked it and aimed directly at us.

"Master. Leave this to me." Rider said casually as she stood up front with a branched spear and a hiltless katana in hand.

"And so the hot babe stands forth… Y'know, babe. I kinda like you. But the way you want to protect that kid. Look, how about you ditch him and let us have a date." The man tried to flirt with her as she seemed unfazed. But my Servant then pointed her spear right at him.

"Huh?~ You trying to swoon over me? You do know it's not gonna work." Rider teased him but instantly rejected him as he sighed.

"Man… you hurt my heart. Well, I don't blame you for being such a beauty… But the real shame is that we'd have to kill you." The man then slowly approached her as she stood her ground the more he got closer to her personal space. "So, why don't you be a good girl and accept your death and-"

[SLICE!]

Rider swiftly sliced off the gang member's hand that was carrying a firearm. Just for a few seconds, he noticed that his hand was missing as he looked at it… until he quickly realized in horror that his blood started to spurt out from his sliced off hand.

"GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! FUUUUUUUUUUCK!" The man let out an extremely agonizing scream as he felt this pain as he kneeled on the floor. The other gang members saw what she did as their expressions from their eyes show that they're horrified. Then, Rider decided to silence him as she thrusted her spear as the blade stabbed through his neck as blood spurts out from it. She then pulls her weapon out from it as she looks at the gang members with a smile now that their member's body has plopped on the floor, leaving a pool of blood…

"RAAAAAAH! GO TO HELL!" The man with a machete rushed without thinking as he was in her range as he prepared to strike her with a leaping thrust. However, she easily predicted his move by hitting away his machete with her katana and shifted her body by twisting to her right as she swung her spear, instantly slicing his torso in half as blood and guts spilled out upon impact.

The man with a SMG fired his weapon as he screamed in full panic as the bullets were directly going at her as I layed on the floor in hopes not to get hit. But Rider uses her fast reflexes to use both weapons to deflect the bullets away as she charges towards him.

"C'mon! Try harder! Put up a good fight! You're making me laugh here! Ahahaha!" Rider shouted with excitement as she thrusted her spear right into the man's chest as more blood spewed out. She then uses her spear to throw the body right at the other armed gang member as it collides with him. But, she was still smiling. The moment I was no longer ducking in cover… I saw her face… she was smiling and laughing at the same time…

"Y-YOU FUCKIN' MONSTER!" The other armed member was about to ready his pistol but it was too late… She swung her katana to decapitate his head off cleanly. And just like that… it was over…

"Honestly… These guys didn't even put up a fight. Like, they're so predictable as always, isn't that right, Master?" Rider called out for me as I saw the bodies on the floor, splattered with blood and guts everywhere… She Is immensely strong. After all, she IS a Servant.

"Y-Yeah. Thanks. I thought this was the end of me but turns out… You're the right Servant that I summoned." I praised her for doing a good job on defending me from these violent ruffians… except she's THAT violent. But, she laughed lightly.

"Ahaha.~ Think nothing of it. I am your blade so I'll follow any command of what you say. After all, the blessings of Bishamonten remain with me!" Rider happily announces her statement until…

[KROOM!]

The wall was broken through as we both noticed of what's ahead of us… Something was there. The dust settled from the broken wall where we saw a mysterious figure with the scarf flowing by the wind. Rider readies herself to confront her enemy.

"My, I wonder who it is. You sure know how to arrive unfashionably late." Rider said to him as he revealed himself from the shadows. He had green hair and also carried a lance in his hand.

"Perhaps. But I heard there was some slight chaos going on inside that building so I went to see, only to bust through… But it turns out, my Master informed me that you had just been summoned to this world just recently… by that kid over there, right?" The spearman said with a smug as he looked at me. I kept my serious composure, knowing that I'm a Master.

"Rider is my Servant." I said to him in a lowly manner as I gripped my fists.

"Rider, huh? Honestly, I'm held in such low regard. To think that your Servant has a lance and also a sword? I'm offended!" The spearman continued as he plants the pommel of the spear on the ground as the wind blows by. "Lancer is my class, and just so you know, my weapon isn't just for show. Lemme teach you why I'll beat a 'real warrior' into you."

"Fine by me. As long as my Master is safe, you'll be fighting against me this time around." Rider said as she was still smiling.

"Just… don't die on me, Rider." I said to her as she turned her head a little, seeing her smile as she nodded. She then looks back as both my Servant and Lancer were ready to fight…

[FWOOSH! CLANG! TWASH!]

The sounds of steel resonating with every clash. Both of them are equally on par with each other in terms of speed and reaction. However, Lancer kept his distance the more he studied Rider's attack. But Rider just keeps on going. I ran outside of the building to see more of the fight. Lancer had already blocked her sword attacks along with her spear. But she had more plans up her sleeve. She then plants the blade of her spear as she leaped and quickly lands a kick, forcing him to knock back as he still stands. He refuses to back down from the fight as he makes his move.

"Gotcha!" Lancer spun his lance as he proceeded to thrust directly right at her face but she dodged it just in time…

[SHICK!]

Despite dodging his incoming thrust attack, she noticed to see her side cheeks on her face as she was bleeding a little bit… a cut. By the looks of her face… she was still smiling, even at times that she'll take small damage… or perhaps the worst pain of yet.

"And yet you're still going… From the look on your face. You don't seem to care, do you? Is it because you're smiling? You're weird, you know that?" Lancer said with his own smile as Rider wipes the blood off from the small cut but still remains.

"Perhaps." Rider continues as she readied herself. "I'm just happy that I'm fighting such a formidable foe such as you. Now this makes me really excited just to feel the thrill of the battle!"

"I'll make sure you'll die happy once I win this battle. And after that, I'll come after your Master next!" Lancer readies himself once again as Rider did the same. Both were smiling as they wouldn't care for a second. I get the feeling that Rider is strong but her strength is on par with Lancer as I recall.

"Rider! This Servant is no pushover…!" I warned her about it since she somehow took damage but her small cut on her cheeks was healed that quick. But I continued. "Do what you can to overwhelm him.

"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. Just try to keep a good distance and everything's all fine!" Rider replied as she kept her stance until something was coming… coming this fast!

[FWOOSH! BOOM!]

Both of the Servants including mine noticed to see what's coming which appeared to be a blast shot as it impacted the ground which nearly hit the center between two of them. I wasn't caught in the blast but that shot was way too fast! Where was it coming from?

Third Person POV

Somewhere on the far mountain view of the city itself which was brimming with lights. Indeed, the city from afar feels like a utopia but in reality, a dystopia. There, the mysterious woman with orange hair and a black eyepatch on her right eye was covered as she was standing next to her Servant… The servant had white splendid armor and wielded a great bow as he stood there as the wind blew by the breeze.

"Target missed." The bow-wielding Servant informed her.

"Take another shot, Archer. This time, try to hit one of them directly." The young woman said to her Servant.

"Understood." Archer complied as he pulled back the string from his bow once again as it generated a blue energy arrow. After a few seconds of concentration of trajectory based on the wind. He lets go of the string, shooting out an arrow that was sent at high speed which was heading towards them where the battle is taking place.

First Person POV

I noticed to see the light from afar… it was small but it was gaining this much speed… That shot came from afar. That's not good! If this continues, I'd probably die! But the arrow made its impact once again, setting off another explosion but Lancer nearly dodged it once again as he turned back to look at us.

"Well, talk about party crashing. Rider, as much as I love to continue fighting you to the death… Seems my Master is calling me back to retreat. We'll hold off the battle for now. Until then, don't die until I kill you myself! Cya!" Lancer then dashed to run on the building and jumps off to another building as he disappears out of thin air... he was gone.

"What a shame. I was having fun beating this guy. But to think of an arrow trying to hit us…" Rider then pondered with her usual smile as I sighed.

"Look, I'm going to die if that arrow hits me. We need to get out of here, fast!" I exclaimed to her of this situation now that we're still out in the open. But she seemingly agreed on this.

"Worry not, Master! I shall call forth my trusted steed. Come, Houshoutsukige!" Rider then calls forth her steed as the armored horse magically appears out of nowhere… It's pretty majestic to say the least. Rider then got on her horse as she lends out her hand. "Get on!"

So, I grabbed her hand as she lifted me up as I sat behind her on the horse.

"Now, hold on to my back! Please be careful not to get thrown off!" Rider announces to me as I was struck with confusion due to her status as Rider. Wait…

"Hold on… Is this horse you call part of your No-" My words were interrupted as she proceeds to continue.

"Gallop, Houshoutsukige! Bishamonten's protection is with us! ONWARDS!" Rider exclaimed as her horse neighed and sped off as I held on to her back, screaming for my life as another arrow was shot but missed as she rode her horse to evade the shots. But more arrow shots followed as I held on for my life… What the hell did I get myself into!?

Third Person POV

As Rider began to evade and retreat from the scene of battle with Ryuga in tow. Her horse sped forward to avoid more arrows on every impact. However, Rider took a turn on the road to finally evade from the scene, she was gone from the shooter's sight. Meanwhile, a mysterious brown haired girl with long braids and glasses was hiding behind buildings after she saw what happened. Thus, she decided to disappear into the shadows. Back at the mountain view, Archer then lowers down his bow, knowing that his target has escaped from his sights.

"A Servant along with that Master with her has escaped. Shall I pursue?" Archer asked her as she shook her head.

"No need. We'll have to return to base and inform Lieutenant Bryce about the situation." The young woman informed him as he nodded without saying until they noticed someone arriving on an armored SUV. The man comes out of the vehicle as he approaches her. He took off his helmet to reveal his blonde hair and blue eyes with some slight facial beard.

"No need, Ophelia. I just arrived in time to see what you're up to. I assume you're just hunting?" The man asked him.

"Yes… Just… hunting. That's all you need to know, Lieutenant Bryce." Ophelia said to him as he was rather surprised.

"Heh? Is that so? Well, I don't blame you for it. My Servant here has done some reconnaissance. Words on the street that there was a new servant that was summoned." Bryce said as his Servants landed down on the ground after her flight. His Servant was almost dragon-like with wings with roman numerals on each tip and a dragon tail. She was also carrying blade-like weapons. "Oh, you are back. Lancer, what can you tell me right now? Did you find out what was the new Servant that was summoned here tonight?"

"From what I can tell you, Master. Upon my reconnaissance flight. The Servant I saw right before my eyes. That Servant that was summoned was none other than Rider, summoned by that boy." Lancer continued. "Master… this feels odd… I was supposed to be summoned as Lancer but… It seems the Holy Grail had other plans for me."

"Don't worry, Lancer! Besides! Be grateful that my boys were able to install some neat armaments that we salvaged from other fighter jets. Y'know… because your style is like a… fighter jet? Well nevermind. Whoever this Master of Rider is… He must be an interesting one. Anyways, Ophelia. Let's return back to base. We'll think of the next plans for another night. Come, get in the vehicle. Your Servant can run on his own. Same like my Lancer who can fly." Bryce said as he got in the vehicle. Ophelia then looked back at the city but decided to enter inside the SUV with Bryce as he drove down the dirt path to leave with two of their respective Servants following in tow.

First Person POV

As time passes a little… Rider stopped her horse somewhere in the empty lot within the alleyways to hide. We both got off as her horse disappeared in the process. My heart was shaking in fear… Is this what a near death experience looks like? I began to take deep breaths to calm down after that wild event. Is it even right for me to get involved in this, just to watch fights and escape like a coward? But still, we got away. That's what matters. But this gives me time to talk to her.

"Alright, Rider… First, thanks.. And Second… err…" I calmed down and looked at her. "Aside from all the interruptions… You haven't told me your name so far."

"Is that so? You already know my class as Rider but…" Rider then continued as she began to speak with pride. "Pay your attention to me! I am Nagao Kagetora, the avatar of Touhachi Bishamonten and Echigo's god of war! O weak, yet strong one… The great deeds you are undertaking are absolutely worthy of my devotion and obedience! Ahem… Let me formally say: I'll be formally in your care.~"

So it is true… I managed to summon one of the Servants ever known in the Warring States… Nagao Kagetora… Uesugi Kenshin… The god of war. Everything makes sense to me. And so… I'm unable to turn back to the life that is 'normal' now. This is the Holy Grail War. Servants will kill Servants, and Masters will kill Masters. That's the way war works. My life as a Master of Rider starts now. It's kill or be killed. And now, I've made up my mind… I will GET my wish. No matter what.

Third Person POV

Meanwhile somewhere in the red light district of Yozakura located in the New Hiroshima district which is widely known for its heavy Japanese influence in terms of culture. But somewhere at the buildings that lead underground into a nightclub where the lights were lit up and the music was playing. But there were no people there… But there was one particular woman who was seen sitting on the comfy red chair. She had neon magenta hair, gray eyes, pink gothic dress, black tiara-like crown, and pale skin. But she had sharp fangs on her teeth as she bit the side of someone's neck where she was seen sucking the blood out of the man while he was still alive and dazed. She continued to suck and suck until she was satisfied with drinking the blood off of a person. So, she tossed him onto the floor as she sat there… now filled with boredom.

"Bored…" The vampire said to herself until…

"Archer… Don't tell me you've gone out and about again? Aren't we supposed to start killing Servants already?" The voice of a young man spoke to her within her mind as she tossed the small cup of wine away as it shattered in the process.

"C'mon, Master.~ Can't I have some little fun? I have been a bit thirsty ever since you summoned me. After all, I'm trying to kick back and relax here… So don't bother me during my… pleasure hours." The vampire Archer replied to him with a slightly annoyed tone if she hears his voice of his scolding again.

"Seriously? Here I am, being the Master as per usual. And you had the audacity to do it freely. And let me guess… You're drinking people's blood at night, huh? I guess Dracula would be proud of you for what you've done. I wonder how Alucard would react." The voice said with sarcasm.

"Then want me to suck your blood, then? After all, you do possess a high amount of mana in you.~" Archer said to her Master as she licked her lips to indulge it.

"Wha!? Hell no! I wouldn't be sitting alone in this damn penthouse, discussing with you, now would I?" The voice continued. "Plus, we got a new Servant that just got summoned not too long ago as I heard. I was thinking you'd want the piece of that action based on your current mood."

"A new Servant? Tell me, which is it?" Archer asked.

"If you would come to my location, would you believe me?" The voice said to her as she grunted in annoyance but had no choice but to answer.

"Ugh… Fine! I'll come to you. Just stay where you are, plaything." Archer said as she finally stood up. She had extremely sharp high heels as she started stepping on the corpses of the people she drank as her heels would stab through their bodies. Then, she disappears out of thin air as the club starts to shut down, quickly fading into darkness…

[TO BE CONTINUED]

Author's Notes: Thank you for reading this first chapter. As expected, this new story has been in the making for over 4 years. I always wanted to make a proper and grounded Fate story and here it is. While this story is related to UnH, it will not have direct connections to the previous event as I wanted to tell a new story that will focus on one city and one city only. I mean, Siesta City is considered as the character. But again, I made this story M-rated because I want to embrace the bombastic violence just as the manga Chainsaw Man did. Oh and, Tatsuki Fujimoto is a great manga author, for sure. If you haven't read his works like Fire Punch or Chainsaw Man… or one of his one-shot projects. I highly suggest giving it a read. There is the anime Chainsaw Man that MAPPA is working on but… I recommend the manga if you wanna read ahead but please make sure to mind the spoilers and show respect for the people who haven't read/watched it yet. In fact, this story's style is kinda inspired by Chainsaw Man and other Fate mangas like Strange Fake and Type Redline in terms of story directions, themes, and violence. So I guess I'm embracing the Chainsaw Man-style? Anyways… In true Fate information fashion, I will provide information about Ryuga's Servant, Nagato Kagetora and also provide some questions regarding the mystery of this Holy Grail War. Why are there two Lancers? Who is that mysterious woman who saw Ryuga and Rider escape? You'll have to tune into more chapters as it'll explain the mystery. Anyways, be on the lookout for the second chapter once I have the time. Until then, peace out!

EDIT: I have decided to take this matter on my own hands to re-edit as per the first reviewer's request to correct Another Lancer (the one who fought against Kagetora.) so I did it.

-[Servant Compendium]-

Servant: True Rider

True Name: Nagao Kagetora

Master: Ryuga Ashikaga

Alignment: Lawful Good

Strength: B-

Endurance: C

Ability:A

Mana: C-

Luck: C+

Noble Phantasm: B

Class Skills

Magic Resistance - C

Nullifies Magecraft spells that were invoked in two verses or below. Cannot defend against large-scale Magecraft such as Great Magecrafts and Ritual Spells.

Riding - A

She gains access to her trusted steed named Houshoutsukige, a famous house that was summoned by Kagetora to ride on.

Divinity - C

After her death, that way of life of hers which was detached from normalcy got others to identify Kagetora to the point of calling her a God of War. Since she is the avatar of Bishamonten, this Anti-Divine Bounded Field limits Kagetora's movements specifically. Although Kagetora can't move very well inside it, she claims that she could never claim to be Echigo's god of war if she let something like this slow her down.

Personal Skills

Fate is in Heaven - A

Kenshin, who has faith in Bishamonten's divine protection, can receive an advantageous check for every action she performs on the battlefield. "In any case, my Luck in battle is awesome. As one would expect, I'm the Avatar of Bishamonten, don't you think?"

Armor is on the Chest - A

A Defense Skill against projectiles. It is said that while she was alive, Kenshin even leisurely slurped on sake before the enemies' eyes as bullets flew about, all the bullets going past and avoiding her, and that anecdote became this Skill. Her self-confidence developed into a phenomenon similar to event manipulation, resulting in even the bullets' trajectory to curve around her, and if said person does not believe she will be hit, then the bullets will never, ever hit her. But if the shooting is loaded with such vigor to the degree that said person will believe she will be hit, then it is possible to break through this divine protection. "Though I'm uncertain whether or not there is such a fellow." Regardless if there is a Noble Phantasm that involves bullets, it would not deal a single hit on a wounded Kagetora.

Accomplishment is in the Feet - A

A faculty that shows the tactical intuition of Kagetora, who was extolled to be Japan's peerless in war. Kagetora experienced more than 70 engagements in her lifetime and triumphed in just about most of them, but she is somewhat poor at castle sieges. "Aah, dammit! Come out and fight!"

Noble Phantasm

Bishamonten's Eight Phases Wheel Charge Formation - B

Type: Anti-Unit/Anti-Army

Range: 1-50

Max Number of Targets: 1-100

The rotating formation that Nagao Kagetora was said to be fond of, transformed into a Noble Phantasm suitable for individual combat. Originally, the formation involved splitting the army into several sections, which all take turns attacking the enemy lines. When the True Name is invoked, the mounted and fully armed Kagetora is split into eight clones, which strike the enemy alternatingly, as a sure-kill one-person rotating formation. "Gallop forth, Houshoutsukige! Bishamonten's protection is with me!" Let it be known that her beloved steed, Houshoutsukige, originally incapable of being summoned in any class but Rider, was forcibly summoned in a flagrant instance of rule breaking under the name of Bishamonten.
