Continuing the trend of actually beginning and posting the fics that have been living in my head rent free for some time now I present a DR crossover of a highly underrated gem of a movie: Tucker & Dale vs evil. I seriously recommend looking this up. It wasn't the first for me but one of the few horror trope spoofs films that was actually funny for me. Unlike the "scary movie" franchise that just beat you over the head with half assed sex jokes and gross out humor they let the funny feel a lot less forced with real feelings to. Not attacking those who like that kind of thing just got old for me quick. If I kill anyone or just have people severely injured I'm still internally debating on. Will I do the movie justice in this? Probably not but I wanna see how much of this I can do.
Very little Oowamiki content so this is my contribution to the little pile that exists. Enjoy this car crash in fic form.

The Oowada brothers
"FUCKIN FINALLY!"
These were the first words that greeted the older of the Oowada brothers as he entered the small shared complex of himself and his brother Mondo. Before he could ask the sound of a door being slammed open and likely broken was heard. Shortly after the heavily exhausted looking but happy face of said brother appeared after. The usually well maintained brown pompadour he had looked more unkept and frizzy. His usually light purple eyes that held tough confidence were looking red and tired. Despite this he had big smile on his exhausted looking face. Daiya couldn't tell if Mondo was about to cry, cheer, pass out, or all three.
"Passed your exam bro?" Daiya asked with a grin
"Just barely but hell yes!" Mondo replied ecstatic with his fist punching the air. Then he promptly fell backwards onto the nearest chair.
Ever since both men left the diamond gang behind in the hands of the youngest member they didn't know what to expect from life. After a nearly fatal crash for Daiya they both realized just how short life could be if they stayed. The gang life might of been fun and neither would trade those days for anything but it was a real wake up call. Daiya had gone to college for business and a few trade schools for extra skills. While Mondo's grades were far from fantastic for any fancy pants college or university they were just good enough to get him into a close by community college for carpentry and woodwork. Turns out they weren't exclusively the same things like Mondo originally thought but he got into it regardless.
Thanks to a somewhat bossy but still honorary bro he met in high school, the non existent study habits he use to have improved. It was still a challenge for him none the less. With his most recent online course finished he could relax a bit. The now 25 and 23 year old weren't sure what they would do with themselves entirely but they knew whatever it was they'd be in it together.
Feeling a bit hungry and positive his little bro needed a meal as reward for passing his test, Daiya got his phone out. Before he could ask his brother what he wanted to eat he got an incoming call from a name he hadn't seen in a while. Hoseki Oowada was one of the few people in the family either of them liked much and a cool uncle.
"Hey mini man, how are you and Mondo doing? Long time no see." Hoeseki said.
"Doing pretty good uncle hoho. Baby bro passed his exam and is close to getting another license under his belt. I'm still not to sure what to do with my degrees but we ain't starvin so its alright for now. " Daiya replied. Before he could hear his uncle's response the phone was snatched from his hand.
"Heeeey, guess who's half a year away from both making cabinets and manning a crew uncle hoho!" Whatever exhaustion Mondo had a few seconds ago was now gone it seemed. He clicked the phone to speaker so they both could hear their uncle's response.
"Real nice to hear nephew and funny enough I called just to give both you and your brother that exact offer. A chuckling Hoeseki responded.
His voice became slightly more serious as he continued.
" You get a long break before needing to take another exam right? Well you remember that crappy hotel I'd babysit you boys in the summer at so your mom could catch a break? Well its no secret but I'm an old fart now. An old fart who wants to live for as long as I can manage but being real with you I don't know how many years I've got in me. I've got other hotels but I remember the close by one you kids would play in was special to me. Not trying to dump this on you though, you can say no at any point. Would either of you mind checking it out to see if you could run it a little just to get a feel? You can fix it up and man it, hire any friends you got. I trust you won't let anyone to weird in. I'll sell it if you decide its not your thing but just thought I'd ask. " Hoeseki explained.
Mikan and company
"What do you mean they're all booked up!? Your a celebrity, can't you just get them to kick a few people out?" The shrill and angry voice was the first thing Mikan Tsumiki heard when she woke up.
Some days she didn't know if being a tele nurse was more exhausting then the people she lived with or vise versa. Either way living with friends she at least knew since high school beat struggling to pay rent herself or living with strangers. To an extent Mikan liked to think she was the teeniest tiniest bit stronger then the Mikan from high school but not by to much. She still had to stop herself from being overly apologetic to things whether they required an apology or not.
"No Hyoko, that would just be rude and unfair to other people who want to enjoy the place." The more calm and level headed of her friends responded.
Knowing it was pointless to try going back to sleep now, Mikan got out of bed thankful that it was a Friday. Entering the kitchen Mikan was greeted to sight of an upset looking Hyoko eating cereal directly out the box as if the cereal itself had personally wronged her.
"Oh good to see your up Mikan, I was just sharing a bit of good and bad news with Hyoko. I've already told the others so I guess your the last I've got to tell. The bad news is waterpark resort is all booked up this summer. The good news is there's an old but refurbished cool hotel closer by to it. Its still fairly far from here but it should still be fine. No matter where we go together I just know we can make it a blast." Kaede said.
"Oh please, its easy for you to say that. No matter where we'd go it would be fun for you since you'll just run off with that wannabe sherlock to get dicked downed. Not all of us are dating if you forgot. " Hyoko stated dismissively.
"H-hey, what me and shuichi do isn't something we rub in anyone's face. I honestly mean it though, we can all still have fun together if you let it be fun."
"Whatever, how do you even know it will be fun in the first place? All you know is that the place is old and practically in the middle of nowhere. For all any of us know it could be run by a cult of violent crazy people or a shady underground brothel. In that case the only person who'd have fun is Mikan's trashy pig face." Hyoko replied.
"Huh?! Why would you say that, those both sound scary to me. I'd hope neither of those are true." Despite knowing it was just Hyoko's typical way of teasing it still hurt to hear.
"Shuichi did some digging on the place so I know its safe. I would never take any of you girls to some place that might be dangerous."
Hyoko rolled her eyes and continued to eat her cereal. Mikan had only been to a few hotels in her 24yrs of living and none of the experiences were all that pleasant. Unlike those times however she was an adult now and had friends who could likely protect her from strangers. If not then she'd just have to remember to charge and pack that taser gun Shuichi got her for Christmas and pepper spray Mahiru got for her birthday.
Suddenly Akane kicked open the front door with 3 duffle bags on her back and an already tired looking Mahiru behind her.
"I am so pumped for this road trip, I packed snacks but ate half on the way here!" Akane exclaimed.
Mikan smiled at her friends feeling slightly reassured that again she would at least not be alone in this. She could face most things in life now that she had friends like these.
