Family Always Stays Together

Chapter 1

"Okay, here we go."

A young man, nineteen years of age, held the steering wheel in a tight grip as he focused on the finish line coming up, crossing it before the other racers before the announcer declared it was the final lap.

The young racer, who went by the name of Jake, had been a champion racer for two years straight, starting at the age of seventeen and wowing everyone as he became the youngest champion to date and unlike the other racers, he drove a Chevorlet Corvette Z06.

On this day, it was the final race of the season and during the race, Jake had been struggling to hold his lead over the other racers, but as the three cars began to pass and he was left in stunned silence as they passed by, he set his teeth and he tried to get ahead of them by pushing his car to beyond his limits, gripping the steering wheel tighter and pushing down on the accelerator with his right foot.

All of a sudden, he felt his car sharply fishtail as the rear tires lost traction. He tried to correct himself, but it was too late as his car spun out of control, causing him to crash into the walls of the track, which made the car fly through the air before hitting the infield several times and spinning around before finally coming to a stop.

Jake groaned as he tried to move, but his whole body ached and he realized he was badly injured, but still alive. The crowd gasped at seeing what had happened as medics raced onto the field to get the boy out and to the hospital. He groaned as the movement jarred his injuries a bit. "Hold on, Jake," said one of the medics. "Stay awake for us."

The young man tried, but lost the fight as he fell unconscious.

One week later...

Thankfully, Jake recovered from his injuries and his beloved car had been repaired and he smiled, ready to get back to racing.

But all that changed when he received a letter in the mail. He opened it and felt his whole world come crashing down on him.

Dear Jake,

In light of your recent accident, you are hereby forced into retiring from racing. We feel this is in your best interests.

Sincerely,

The Racing Committee Officials

The young man felt his heart breaking and became stressed out, wondering how he would live now that he couldn't race. His heart hurting more, he decided to live his life alone in an alleyway, finding an old garage to park his car and cover it with a gray tarp. He sighed as he placed a hand on it, tears stinging his eyes as he turned away, his hopes and dreams crushed.

Elsewhere, not too far away...

An eighteen-year-old girl named Diane smiled as she held up her violin. She was a student enrolled in the music academy and had been playing the violin since she was six years old. She was not only the top student at the academy, but she also got to perform at live concerts in the city and had since gained quite a bit of fame, making her well known.

Unfortunately, this made the other students jealous of her and envious of her achievements. To make her feel bad, they would tease her about her glasses, since she was the only one at the Academy that wore glasses.

One day, while getting ready for a concert, some of the girls approached her. "Hey, Diane, come hang out with us," one girl said.

Smiling, she nodded. "Sure. I've got some time before the concert," she said.

But little did she know, she wouldn't make it to the concert.

Everything had been fine at first, but then the girls brought her to an alleyway. "What's here?" Diane asked.

"Just something for you," one of the girls said.

"But I have to get to the concert," she said.

Two girls suddenly grabbed her arms while a third grabbed her glasses. "You're not going anywhere but the trash, nerd!" The one that had snatched her glasses said before throwing the glasses to the ground and smashing them.

Diane gasped before she was thrown into an empty dumpster and the girls closed the lid on her. "This is where you belong!" Said the first girl.

"Have a nice life," another sneered as they laughed and walked away.

The pink-and-green-haired girl felt tears sting her eyes as she was trapped and she began crying, her tears falling down her face as she sat in the dumpster in the dark.

A week passed and the girl, who had been living on some snacks she had had in her bag with her, sniffled as she looked at the darkness surrounding her, knowing the concert was long done and she doubted by now that anyone was looking for her. "Maybe I should quit being a violinist," she said to herself, her heart breaking at the thought, but as her hopes and dreams had been crushed, she felt there was nothing to do but stop pursuing her dream.

Unknown to her, a young racer forced to give up racing came into the same alley she was in and he too had decided to give up on his dreams.

Two young people, once with big hopes and dreams, now forgotten by the whole world.

And here we have Jake and Diane's backstories. Will someone find them? Read on. :)

And please leave a review, but no flames!
