Dante sat in a chair in the mansion, drinking a cup of tea. She was enjoying her new body. Lyra made a good servant and an even better host.
She heard the commotion downstairs. Where Greed was. And Edwards cry; crying in pain and regret of what he had just done.
She smiled. It reminded her of Envy, at the beginning. He used to cry like that too. He probably didn't know she had heard him, weeping in the middle of the night like the abandoned child he was. Crying in pain much like his half-brother did below.
They truly are alike. She thought. More then either would care to admit…
Sunrise came and Edward and Izumi buried her old body. Thinking she was dead. She grinned and retreated from the window. Envy and the others should be coming soon. After her failed apprentice and the Elric brothers left she would be able to share the news of what had happened.
Lust came in followed closely by Gluttony as always. "So, he did it." She commented quietly. "That boy really is amazing, killing a homunculus so easily."
"He had help." Dante corrected sternly. "If I hadn't weakened Greed then Edward would be the one under four feet of dirt."
Lust didn't reply but the door opened and Envy came in with his usual strut. "So what's this all about?" he asked. "I have to admit, I don't think we've been summoned like this for a while."
He glanced at Dante but didn't make a comment about her new body. He's seen her jump too many times to notice it now.
"Greed's dead." She announced simply. "Edward killed him for us."
"Oh really?" Envy said with a grin of pleasure. "Well it's about time. Though I must say I would have liked to have done it myself. Oh well, can't have everything." He laughed evilly. "Greed learned that the hard way."
Dante looked at Envy with a mix of disgust and disapproval. "Don't get too cocky." She scorned. "That boy now knows your weakness. Greed told him about your source of power."
"So what?" Envy scoffed. "It's not like he can do much with it, now can he?"
Lust smiled. "Envy has a point, he's not going to be able to get close to us at all if everything goes according to plan."
Dante surveyed them with bored and angry eyes for a moment before turning away. "That's right Lust, if. Make sure nothing goes wrong, and if it does…well," she let out a harsh laugh and looked at them. "You know what will happen."
Lust's expression darkened to a glare but didn't make a real response to the threat. There was a flicker of fear in Envy's eyes but he masked it with sarcasm. "Yeah, whatever."
Lust surveyed Dante for a few more moments with dislike but left, followed by Envy and Gluttony.
She watched them go. "Yes, go and make my stone." She said to the empty room. "And then I'll be able to jump again and again, living forever."
