Chapter 1: Taking Flight.

Our story begins in the city of Chicago, where a young boy was waiting for his mother to come home. This boy's name is Rex Stewart, son of John Stewart and Shayera Hol, AKA Green Lantern and Hawkgirl, two of the founding members of the Justice League. He had seen them fight several times before on TV and was eager for the day when he could fight alongside them.

Right now, Rex was sitting on his bed, when Shayera came in.

"Rex, I have a surprise for you." she said.

"What is it, Mom?" Rex asked.

"Follow me." Shayera said.

Rex hopped off his bed and followed her to a box, which she opened and showed him a suit about his size. It was made of steel, like a suit of armor, and had wings and red eyes, as well as a large hawk on the front.

"What is it?" Rex asked as he looked at it.

"It's your suit. I think it's finally time for you to become a hero." Shayera said, earning her a hug from Rex.

"You're the best, Mom!" Rex said.

"I'm glad you like it! I also have your hero name. What do you think of Warhawk?" Shayera asked.

"Sounds cool!" Rex said.

"Great! Now, the first thing we need to do is teach you how to fly with it." Shayera said.

Later, the two of them were at the top of a tall building. Rex looked down and was nervous at seeing how far a drop it was.

"Don't be scared, Warhawk. You just have to bring your wings up before you hit the ground. Watch this." Hawkgirl said before she jumped and dived towards the ground. Just before she hit the ground, she spread her wings and flew upwards. She then glided before she landed on a roof.

"Your turn!" she said.

Rex looked nervous before he looked determined. He imagined like he was Batman before he did what Hawkgirl did and he managed to land on a lower level of the roof, wobbling a bit.

"Great job!" Hawkgirl said before she jumped down.

"I did good?" Warhawk asked.

"You did very good. Now, we're going to teach you how to fly through the air." Hawkgirl said before they did the same thing as before, but this time, they kept gliding.

"Woah, so this is what it's like to fly!" Warhawk said before he started to decline. He panicked and started flapping his arms rapidly.

"Calm down, Warhawk. Take it easy and flap your wings lightly. Let the wind carry you as you spread them wide." Hawkgirl said. Warhawk did what she said and sure enough, it worked.

"Hey, Mom, how do you fly without flapping?" Warhawk asked.

"I just glide on the wind, but I still keep my wings spread enough to catch it. I'll teach you that later. Right now, I think we should grab something to eat." Hawkgirl said as they glided towards a restaurant.

"Hey, Mom?" Warhawk asked.

"Yes?" Hawkgirl asked.

"This was fun. Can we spend time together more?" Rex asked.

Hawkgirl smiled, "We sure can." she said.
