The orders were simple: establish mining rights with the inhabitants of Seskilles VII. But with a sensor-dead atmosphere and an empty planet, this mission is proving anything but easy. A lost population is desperate to communicate—desperate to be known—and there is only one telepath aboard the Enterprise. First contact comes lasting consequences. He should never have come here.

"Your mind," the alien said, his soft voice sending shivers down Leonard's spine, "it is so… intriguing. Tell me, how long has it been in such turmoil?" Following the events of Mirror, Mirror, Kirk wants the elusive planet Cursioa to join the Federation. Spock wants to piece back together a shattered mind. And McCoy wants more than anything for the past to die a swift, quiet death.

A terrible accident, a grieving McCoy, and an attack on the Enterprise by an unknown species pushes Kirk to his limit. For the first time in his career, the captaincy may be a burden too heavy for him to bear.

Now that Nyota has Spock, what is she gonna do with him? Anything she wants, but first she has to figure out what she wants. Spock is a simple, logical man. He just wants Nyota. But getting bonded was the easy part. Staying that way is going to be a challenge.

After Spock abducted Captain Pike from Starbase 11, formal proceedings commenced aboard the Enterprise. This story imagines what was going on at Starbase 11 while the Enterprise made its way to Talos IV.

Captain Pike fell seriously ill on Talos IV, and there are suspicions that the Talosians are responsible and may be using their impressive power of illusion to cover up what happened. A Board of Inquiry engages in a fact-finding mission, in which Dr. McCoy's testimony is crucial. McCoy struggles with how he can have confidence that he hasn't been misled by Talosian illusions.

Epilogue to REQUIEM FOR METHUSELAH Kirk, Spock and McCoy return from a haunting encounter. To repair the emotional damage to his friend, Spock steps forward with the extraordinary healing balm of a mind meld.

"I knew I would die alone," Kirk had stated confidently, "and that's why I wasn't in any danger." The quiet resignation of it all haunted Spock. Something in him had twisted that day, and even now it refused to relax. It had been weeks, and Spock still didn't know what to do with those words, with this feeling.

The Vulcan High Council, and Vulcan Science Academy are engaged in negotiations with Starfleet to sponsor the nearly-completed USS Intrepid for exploration and science investigation with an all-Vulcan crew. Attending this important expedition are young Starfleet officers Lieutenant Spock and James Kirk. They meet and work together for the first time to solve a murder!
