-Chapter 2: No Kissing in the Lobby-

OneShot

Maddie glanced around the lobby with a sigh, leaning still on the candy counter, reading a magazine. The position she had been in many, many times -- hundreds of times -- for the four years she worked at the candy counter. She was nineteen now, in college, out for summer break. And, to say the least, she was bored.

Until, of course, Zack walked up to the counter, leaning on it himself. "Hey there," the sixteen-year-old said with a smile, watching Maddie jump in sudden fear. Then she regained her composure and glared at Zack, who was laughing.

"It's not funny," she said lamely, fighting to keep herself from laughing as well.

"Uh, yeah, it is," he replied.

"To you," Maddie said with a small smile. "Now, what's up?"

Zack drew a card out from his pocket. "Some secret admirer sent this," he said with a shrug. Cody had decided to work at a flower shop -- what a girl -- and made Zack do some deliveries.

"You work at the floral shop in town, too?" Maddie questioned, opening up the envelope.

"No, but Cody has me working like a pack mule anyway -- for a fourth of his pay."

"You should work there, it gets good business and it pays well, since it's actually a big company."

"Yeah, I know, but I'd settle for a more manly job, instead of packing flowers into a vase," he explained, and Maddie shrugged, followed by a small nod.

"Suit yourself."

"I will. See ya." Zack turned and started to leave, but Maddie called him back. "What?" he asked, a questioning look on his face.

"Thank you," she replied quietly, giving Zack a kiss. "I love the card." They both smiled, before Moseby stomped over and yelled into their ears:

"No kissing in the lobby!"
