A couple of hours later the rangers had cleaned themselves up a little bit and were gathered in the bridge of the Spectrum. Due to the apparent time difference between Earth and Muranthias, it was now nearly sunset, meaning that the rangers had been awake for over 36 hours. This didn't include the time they spent unconscious. The teens had taken the time to grab something to eat before the final debriefing session. With Divatox trapped in a dimension that had now collapsed.
Their conversation was cut short by Xi announcing his presence . The teens stopped talking and turned to face her, "Now that the threat of Divatox is gone for now. We have a bigger problem ", the robot began. "It worried that earlier we could not pick up a grid signature from Jason. So I investigated and I've discovered why". The rangers all looked at the robot. " Unfortunately when you added more power to the Megazord to use the Sabre you short circuited your connected to the grid and have made it unrecoverable for now " Xi continued. Jason looked a little disappointed and played with the devices on his wrist "I'm sorry but you can not morph anymore".
Jasom sighed as he unfastened the strap on his morpher, "Well it was fun while it lasted". He placed his morpher in the case.
"But Jason you're our leader", Kim replied for the group.
"Yeah Who will lead us now", Trini added.
Jason then stepped forward, "I think I know the perfect replacement ", he didn't get to finish his sentence as suddenly the Spectrum was rocked by a massive blast. The group struggled to stay on their feet as several more blasts shook the Spectrum. The lights flickered several times and loose pieces of masonry fell from the ceiling.
Scrambling to the controls, Xi turned on the cameras directly outside the Spectrum. Several fighters were circling overhead and firing down laser rounds on the ship.
"We're totally surrounded", Kim cried. More shots reigned down on the ship.
"search the debris for the rangers".
"I don't believe anything could have survived that blast my Princess", Ecliptor replied.
"I've read the report about these rangers", the female replied, "their ability to survive is second only to cockroaches".
"As you wish Astronema", Ecliptor bowed. The robots scanned for several minutes Astronema inspected the results very closely, "A little disappointing".
"If I may Princess we are due to meet Dark Specter in a couple of days", Ecliptor began, "we need to leave shortly if we are to make that appointment".
"Very well Ecliptor", Astronema smiled evilly, her ship then jumped to hyper space.
Once they were gone the Spectrum de cloaked, it had used the explosions to hide and pretend it had been destroyed. It's shields protected them against the worst of the blasts.
Jason down at his morpher but he couldn't feel any power coming from it, "looks like my powers are gone too".
"The source", Kim stuttered groggily, "your cut from the grid".
"Oh", Trini said as she slumped to the ground " Your powers".
"Looks like it", Zack sighed. The teens looked over the debris field but nothing of value appeared to be left. Even though Maligore and Divatox had been defeated on Muranthias, the pirate ultimately had the last laugh. She had managed to find help from something called the United Alliance of Evil, a name which didn't fill the teens with much hope.
"So what now?" Zack asked and for once, no one had an answer to that question. All the teens collapsed to the floor, physically and emotionally drained by the day's events. They had won the battle but Jason had paid the ultimate price and now Zack's question was one none of the rangers could answer.
