Hanging Out
After their talk with the professors and both Mr. Clavells, the boys walked around the academy for a while. As they walked, Lincoln noticed that the Naranja Academy students were looking at him; some with astonishment, some with smirks on their faces, and some boys were looking at him with looks of jealousy. The Eds noticed this as well.
"Lincoln? Why are the students of your universe staring at you?" asked Edd. Stan saw the looks Lincoln was getting and realized something.
"I'll bet they all saw that gym battle you had with Iono, dude." said Stan. Lincoln suddenly gets a blush on his face as he realized what Stan was talking about.
"Iono? That popular livestreamer?" replied Eddy.
"Yes, Eddy. The one whose videos you and Ed spend a lot of your time watching instead of studying." replied Edd.
"Yeah, yeah." said Eddy. "So Iono is also a gym leader?"
"That's right, dude." said Kyle. "Lincoln battled her and won yesterday."
"But why is battling her a big deal with those students?" asked Eddy.
"It's not the gym battle, but what happened after it." said Kenny with a smirk. Lincoln's blush intensifies.
"What happened?" asked Ed. Lincoln pulls out the photo of Iono kissing him and shows it to the Eds, whose eyes widen with astonishment.
"She kissed you?!" Eddy responds.
"Yeah." said Lincoln as he looks away and smiles.
"And she gave you her phone number?!" Eddy asked. Lincoln nods in response.
"So what should we do now?" asked Ed.
"I guess we just hang out in Mesagoza for a while until the Mr. Clavells decide it's okay for us to continue our Treasure Hunt assignments." said Kenny.
"Yeah. I wanna go to a PokeMart and buy some more pokeballs." said Lincoln as he pulls out all his pokedollars and starts counting it. Eddy sees Lincoln's money and stares at it with dollar signs in his eyes. Eddy suddenly gets a scheme brewing in his mind.
"Hey, Lincoln. How about we have a Pokemon battle?" asked Eddy.
"How come?" asked Lincoln.
"It would...give us a chance to get to know one another. Yeah, that's it." said Eddy. Lincoln shrugs and puts his pokedollars away.
"Sure. I don't see why not." said Lincoln.
'That wad of cash of yours is gonna get a whole lot smaller.' Eddy thought to himself with a grin. Edd sees the grin and figured Eddy was up to no good. He pulls Eddy aside.
"Eddy? What are you planning?" asked Edd.
"What? A trainer can't have a friendly battle?" asked Eddy.
"You just want to win some of Lincoln's pokedollars, don't you?" says Edd.
"So what? He has plenty of it. And besides, I can't possibly lose. I was good enough to win a gym badge." said Eddy.
"So was Lincoln." said Edd.
"Yeah, yeah. I'll bet I'm still better than him." said Eddy as he heads for the schoolyard. Edd sighs as he and the others follow after Eddy. A minute later, they enter the schoolyard and Lincoln and Eddy go to opposite sides of the battle area there where their friends and several other students gather around to watch with the Naranja Academy students supporting Lincoln while the Uva Academy students support Eddy.
"So how many Pokemon are we going to battle with, Eddy?" asked Lincoln.
"How does one Pokemon each sound?" asked Eddy.
"Sounds fine to me." said Lincoln. He takes a pokeball out of his belt while Eddy takes one out of his belt.
"Let's go, Crocalor!" said Eddy, throwing Crocalor's pokeball and releasing him.
"I'm guessing your starter Pokemon was a Fuecoco also." said Lincoln.
"You have a Fuecoco too?" asked Eddy.
"I did, but he evolved." said Lincoln. He throws his pokeball and releases his Lycanroc. Edd takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at Lycanroc.
"Lycanroc Dusk Form, the Wolf Pokemon and the evolved form of Rockruff. These Pokemon have both calm and ferocious qualities. It's said that this form of Lycanroc is the most troublesome to raise." said Edd's Rotom Phone. Lincoln turns towards Edd.
"That's weird. My Rotom Phone has a different description about my Lycanroc." said Lincoln.
"Maybe our universes' Pokemon descriptions are different from each others." said Edd.
"Probably." said Lincoln. He turns back towards the battle. "All right, Lycanroc. Use Crush Claw!" Lycanroc's claws on his front right paw glow blue and he leaps at Eddy's Crocalor and slashes him across the chest, knocking him to the ground. Crocalor struggles to get up and he suddenly slumps.
"What was that?!" asked Eddy.
"That was Crush Claw, Eddy." said Edd. "Not only is it a strong attack, it also weakens the defense of the Pokemon it hits."
"And it's even stronger thanks to Lycanroc's Tough Claws ability." said Lincoln.
"Oh my." said Edd.
"What does that ability do?!" asked Eddy.
"It makes the physical attacks of the Pokemon with the ability even stronger." replied Edd.
"Well we're still going to win! Crocalor, use Incinerate!" said Eddy.
"Eddy, wait!" exclaimed Edd. Crocalor opens his mouth and unleashes a fireball from it and it hits Lycanroc, but it didn't seem to do much damage to him. "Eddy; Lycanroc's a rock type Pokemon. Fire type attacks don't have much effect on them. You really should have focused most of your time on studying."
"But rock type attacks can do a lot of damage to fire types." said Lincoln. "Lycanroc, Accelerock!" Lycanroc becomes surrounded by a white aura and he charges at Crocalor with incredible speed and rams into him, causing super effective damage, and more thanks to Lycanroc's Tough Claws. Crocalor falls to the ground with swirly eyes.
"Sorry, Eddy; but Crocalor is unable to battle, so Lincoln wins." said Edd. Eddy's jaw drops.
"Way to go, Lycanroc!" said Lincoln. Lycanroc howls in response. The Naranja Academy students cheered.
"Way to go, Lincoln!" said a male student.
"You took down that Crocalor easily!" said another student. Eddy growls and returns his Crocalor to his pokeball.
"How can I lose? I'm a strong trainer. I have a gym badge." said Eddy as he pulls out his badge and opens it, revealing his Cortondo gym badge.
"Just one?" replies Lincoln as he pulls out his badge case and opens it, revealing his three gym badges. Eddy's eyes widen in astonishment.
"You have THREE BADGES?!" asked Eddy.
"Yep." said Lincoln as he puts his badge case away. Eddy sulks, pulls out his pokedollars, and gives half of it to Lincoln.
"Don't worry, Eddy." said Edd. "Just get more stuff from more Tera Raid battles to sell and you'll make the money back. Eddy cheers up after hearing that.
"Good idea, sockhead." said Eddy. The Naranja Academy students run up to Lincoln to congratulate him on his victory.
"Good work, Lincoln." said a male student.
"You're strong, just like your Lycanroc." said another male student.
"I'll bet that's why Iono likes you." said a female student, making Lincoln blush. Lincoln's friends also congratulate him.
"That was cool, dude." said Kyle.
"Totally." said Stan.
"You were super neato, Lycanroc." said Butters. Lycanroc licks Butters' face in response, making him laugh.
"So what now?" asked Stan. Lincoln looks at his Rotom Phone's clock and sees it was close to dinner.
"Wanna grab something to eat?" asked Lincoln. Ed's stomach starts to grumble.
"Ed is hungry!" said Ed.
"Yeah, I could use some food." said Stan. The others also confirm that they were hungry.
"Let's head to the cafeteria then." said Lincoln. They all start heading to the cafeteria.
"At least both of our universes' academies have the exact same layout." said Kenny.
"Yeah." said Stan. As they head down the hall, they hear a pair of familiar voices calling out to them.
"Hey, guys!" the voices said in unison. They all turn and see two Nemonas running towards them. One had orange shorts (Naranja Nemona) and the other one had purple shorts (Uva Nemona).
"Hey, Nemona." said the boys.
"Can you believe what's going on around here?" asked the Naranja Nemona.
"Everyone suddenly has doubles of themselves." said the Uva Nemona.
"Yeah, we've seen it." said Stan.
"What is going on?" asked the Naranja Nemona. They went on to explain everything that happened as described by the professors. Needless to say that the Nemonas were shocked.
"That is way too much info to take in." said the Uva Nemona.
"Yeah, we still have a hard time believing it." said Stan.
"But on the bright side, I have someone I can battle with who loves battling just as much as I do!" said the Naranja Nemona.
"Yeah! It's so amazing!" said the Uva Nemona.
"So what are you up to?" asked the Naranja Nemona.
"We were just going to the cafeteria to get some dinner." said the Naranja Arven.
"Mind if we join you guys? We could use a bite to eat." said the Uva Nemona.
"We don't see why not." said the Uva Arven.
"Thanks." said the Uva Nemona. As they walked down the hallway, Lincoln noticed that the Naranja Nemona was glaring at him, making him nervous.
"Nemona? Are you okay?" asked Lincoln. After a few seconds, Naranja Nemona decides to say something.
"I saw your battle against Iono, Lincoln." said Naranja Nemona in an upset tone of voice.
"Why are you so upset? I won." asked Lincoln.
"I'm glad that you won. But I also saw what happened after the battle." said Naranja Nemona with a pout. Lincoln blushes in response.
"Is that why you're so upset?" asked Stan. Naranja Nemona looks away with a huff. Kyle looks at Naranja Nemona before a thought enters his mind.
"Wait a minute. You're not jealous, are you?" asked Kyle with a smirk.
"No!" said Naranja Nemona with a blush. Lincoln blushes also. The other boys and Uva Nemona chuckle at this. "It's just that I think he should be more focused on training his Pokemon for his future battle with me instead of that Iono girl."
"I wouldn't worry about Lincoln slacking off in training his Pokemon. From what I've observed a few minutes ago, Lincoln's Pokemon are quite strong." said Edd.
"Yeah! He beat Eddy easily!" said Ed.
"Quiet, monobrow!" said Eddy as he smacks Ed upside his head.
"What was the battle like?" asked Uva Nemona.
"We'll tell you about it over dinner." said Kenny. They soon reach the cafeteria and find a table to sit at. Seeing an open seat next to Lincoln, Naranja Nemona quickly runs over and sits in it. Everyone else smirks at them, making them both blush. As they ate, Edd tells the Nemonas about the battle between Lincoln and Eddy.
"I can't believe you have a Dusk Form Lycanroc, Lincoln. It's hard enough finding a Rockruff with the Own Tempo ability, but getting it to evolve at just the right time of day is really difficult." said Naranja Nemona.
"Maybe you and I can have a battle together when we get a chance to, Lincoln." said Uva Nemona.
"Sure. I'm always up for a battle." said Lincoln. After they ate, everyone decided to just hang out in their dorm rooms/houses for the rest of the day. Fortunately for the Eds and Lincoln, since they had no doubles, they didn't have to share their dorm rooms with anyone else, unlike the other students who had dorm rooms there. Also, it was fortunate that the houses that Stan, Kyle, Kenny, Cartman, and Butters resided in didn't have anyone living in them in the Uva Universe so they didn't have to share with other families. The boys felt bad that things weren't as easy for everyone else in Paldea as it was for them. They only hoped that the professors could somehow find a way to seperate their universes.
