Author's Note: Sorry for such a short chapter, but I just had to get this out. Hope you enjoy!
Draco
I frowned as Harry violently jerked away from my hold on his shoulders. I was hurt by this blatant rejection, although I managed to hide it from showing on my face. I whispered, "Harry," with concern bleeding through my voice. His eyes cleared and I sighed with relief. He stared at me as if seeing me for the first time. Harry scrambled back, his desperation to get away from me shining in his eyes. He reminded me of a cornered animal, trying to decide whether to fight or flee. I said "Harry, " in a low soothing tone repeatedly, the way I had been taught to calm a baby dragon I once had when I was young. Slowly like a wild animal tamed, Harry came forward and laid his head on my lap. "I'm sorry, " he whispered.
Harry
"I'm sorry, " I apologized softly, with my head resting on Draco's lap. Draco ran his fingers through my hair, the motion quite calming. My hair had become just a bit longer than usual, because my dear relatives had refused to let me go to the barber and get my hair cut. "It's fine, " he replied breaking me out of my wandering thoughts. There was blissful silence for a few seconds, after which Draco queried awkwardly, "Do you want to tell me what that was all about?"
I panicked for a moment as I thought I was obligated to explain myself. My breath shortened and my face closed up. After my moment of irrationality passed, I realized I could refuse. When my slow mind processed that I was being given a choice, I looked into his eyes with a smile playing on the edge of my lips. I boldly got up and laid down on the red couch, making sure my head was back on Draco's lap. For the first time I could remember, I felt like I was home.
"Someday, I will. But not today."
