A few days later in Orario, the city continues to grow and prosper under the protection of the Kaisers.
Currently, Zagreus stands on the rooftop of a building near the Hearth Mansion. The Bloody Kaiser has his helmet on to conceal his face while his eyes glows menacingly under the visor.
Zagreus stares at the Mansion but the vision of his sight is actually focused on Bell who is currently doing some cleaning chores in his room. The young boy just tidies everything while having a rather plain face.
"still the same, is he?" Zagreus whispers as he slowly turns his head to the side and sees Melinoe who descends with her armor on. The Blade Kaiser crosses her arms under her chest while the faceplate of her helmet splits to reveal her face. "the situation?"
"everything is prepared as you planned for it to be." Melinoe replies while waving a hand to the side. "Ploutos and Makaria prepped the money, weapons, and also the needed items for the clown's Familia, Thalia is with Shakti and they are on their way to meet with you back at the Underworld Castle after an hour, and Polemos is currently on his way to the clown's place and give the orders when you're finished doing whatever you are doing here.."
"good" Zagreus said as he looks back at the Hearth Mansion. "look after Bell until we are done. Afterwards we need to finish the first part of our plan later on. Evilus' remnants must be squashed like the bugs they are"
"I know." Melinoe replies before she then tilts her head to the side. "this is your last chance, you know?"
"for what?" Zagreus replies while fully turning around to face Melinoe. "what do you mean by my last chance?"
"don't play stupid with me, Zagreus." Melinoe said while shaking her head once and then placing her hands on her waist. "you think everyone will believe that you really wish to make that brat and his familia as bait to lure Evilus rats out? don't take us as fools. We've been with you for a very long time and we know how you think nowadays." She waves her hands out before she crosses them under her chest. "so? what do you plan to do? Save them before they get killed? Like the old days of you being a hero and stuff?"
"the past is the past, there is no need to come back to such old times." Zagreus replied as he turns and looks away. His eyes glowing menacingly under the visor of his helmet. "I already decided on that after the day I had spent with Riveria Ljos Alf as her Zagreus Kaiser." He slightly turns to glance at Melinoe. "right now, I'm just Zagreus Kaiser; the Bloody Kaiser of the Kaiser Familia, former lover to Meteria, and the father to her child; Bell Cranel. no one else."
"and how am I supposed to believe in that?" Melinoe asks while giving a sceptic look on Zagreus. "you never forsake the lives of others for your personal gain, Zagreus. It is not in your nature to.."
"it is now." Zagreus replies as he turns and faces Melinoe while black flames bursting around his helmet and body armor, his eyes glows menacingly, giving him the visage of burning armored demon from another world. "Orario has suffered enough in the hands of the clown and that slut, it's time to heal the city of its wounds and scars." He raises his right hand and the black flames gathered around his fist and forms a flaming hound's head that opens its fanged mouth to let out a growling sound. "and get rid of the trash."
Melinoe looks at Zagreus for a moment before she close her eyes and suddenly burns in red flames then disappears when the fire dissipates.
Zagreus stares at where Melinoe was once at before the black flames around him blows away and he is left alone.
"people may change over time, but there are some who don't." Zagreus spoke before he turns and sees Meteria appearing behind him while crying in tears. "the latter would be you, Meteria."
Meteria speaks out to Zagreus who listens to her before he turns his head to look away.
"no. I cannot." Zagreus speaks softly. "you should know that I can't go against my own vow to seek justice for your Familia." he shakes his head slowly. "her welfare no longer matters to me."
The White Spirit proceeds to tear up even more as she looks to be in pain while crying.
Zagreus stays silent as he listens to Meteria's crying voice that made him clench his fists tight.
"just why do you wish for me to be with her!?" Zagreus suddenly shouted as he turns to face Meteria while his helmet detaches to reveal his face and tearful right eye. "why do you wish for me to just stay with her!?" he goes straight to the white spirit and grabs her hand when she tried to leave. "Meteria, please! Just why!? for what reason do you wish for me to be with her instead of you!? I love you! I don't love her anymore! It's true that I was with her for a short time, but that was because I was too blind to not see your act in lying to me!" he hugs the white spirit and didn't want to let her go. "please…you're Bell's mother and you deserve happiness for your great courage and wish to protect him and me….so please….no more..i can't live to this day knowing that you died because of me…" he shed his tears as he held her close. "please…no more..i beg of you"
Meteria cries her tears onto Zagreus as the white spirit whispers her words softly to him before gently pushing him away. The Kaiser looking wide eyes at the spirit of her lover who floats away and disappears.
Zagreus stares to where Meteria disappeared as he had a hand outstretched when she was floating away. The outstretched hand soon forms a hard clenched fist that shakes a bit.
"Why do you believe I should forget you?" Zagreus whispers softly before his helmet reforms on his head and his eyes glow brightly under the visor. "Forgetting you…is the last thing I would ever do, Meteria."
Zagreus turns to the side while swinging away his cape before he bursts into black flames and disappears.
At the Loki Familia's area, the adventurers of the Familia continue to struggle in their daily lives as they are made a mockery by all the citizens of Orario.
There's garbage around the area that made flies come around. Raul and Annakitty are at the front and sweeping away the trash but passing by people came and threw in more trash.
"CLOWNS!" the passersby shouted and laughed then runs off before Raul and Annakitty could go and scold them.
"it's getting rougher every single day.." Raul spoke as he sighs and continues to sweep away the garbage. The High Novice sighs once again. "will our Familia be able to function like this?"
"this is getting unbearable for all of us.." Annakitty stated while sitting down on a stone rubble, the Alchat looking tired. "every day we get mocked, laughed at, and pitied like we're scums…" she rubs her right hand to her face. "we aren't even allowed to return to our own hometown no matter how much we request permission from the guild.." she grasps her left hand into a fist. "if Aiz didn't make the Kaisers enraged…."
"hey, Aki. Don't think it like that." Raul told his friend. "we didn't realize that Aiz-san was doing such thing, and we're to blame for not realizing it and.."
"And what?!" Annakitty shouted while getting up and faced Raul with a frustrated looking face. "We are supposed to be over with it!? look around you, Raul!" she swung a hand to the side. "I wanted to be a great adventurer of the Loki Familia but look at where we are now! This is all because of Aiz being obsessed for power! This is all her fault!"
"Aki, you can't just say that!" Raul stated, trying to reason with his friend but he soon looks pale and afraid.
Annakitty notices his behavior and was confused in seeing his scared face.
"what's wrong, Raul?" she asks before she turns and soon becomes afraid because Zagreus along with Polemos, standing behind her and having an ominous aura surrounding them. "K-Kaiser!?"
"for a kitten, you sure meowed like a whiny bitch, huh?" Polemos spoke as he looked down with a smirk at Annakitty who was shaking in fear. "what's wrong? Cat got your tongue?"
"Get the rest of your pests of a Familia gathered." Zagreus stated as he glares down at the two adventurers with his glowing menacing eyes. "Now"
Raul and Annakitty backed away from the two Kaisers before they quickly ran to get their Familia members as Zagreus had commanded, knowing bad things would happen if they didn't.
"You still planning to get them to be the bait even now?" Polemos spoke as he glances at Zagreus while crossing his arms on his chest. "I know that Melinoe must've already asked this, but I will ask again. Do you really intend to go with this plan?"
"I am." Zagreus replied blankly. "The plan is already set in motion and there's no turning back." His eyes glow more menacingly as they glance at Polemos. "and besides, did you not want to get rid of them in the first place, Polemos? I am merely granting your wish."
"I want to get rid of that slut's Familia not this one. Thalia can have the honor of ridding these pests instead." Polemos retorted while looking away for a moment before glancing back at Zagreus. "and since when do you grant us anything that involves killing pests like them? That's not like you."
"That is unlike myself in the past, but not now." Zagreus said before he turns and begins walking into the Loki Familia's territory. "To keep my son safe and to uphold my promise to Meteria, I'll be the Kaiser that I am meant to be."
Polemos watches Zagreus walk away as he had a sceptic look at first before he looks away and scoffs then followed the Bloody Kaiser.
Entering the remnant area of Loki Familia's Home, Zagreus and Polemos made themselves known to the remaining members of the former great Familia as many saw them coming.
At one side there is Raul and Annakitty speaking fast to Finn, Gareth, and Loki who soon looks surprised, shocked, and afraid when they see Zagreus and Polemos.
It took about a minute or so as the entire Loki Familia got together and then got Finn and Loki to go and be the representatives to meet with the Kaisers.
Many had scared and nervous expressions, but a few had tensed and irritated faces which are mostly from Bete, and Tione.
Seeing the group, Zagreus sees no sign of Aiz. The Kaiser thought that the blonde must be away doing something and he could care less about it. He turns to see Finn and Loki coming slowly and hesitantly before he took a quick glance at Riveria who came by with Lefiya, and Alicia. The high elf looking a lot better than before as she seems more well than when the Kaiser had gone to rescue her in the Dungeon before.
'Just like I promised I saved her life and kept my word to return to her for that one day, Meteria.' Zagreus looks at Riveria and sees her surprised expression before he looks away and faces Finn and Loki. 'now, there is nothing left between the two of us.'
"H-Hello…what b-brings you guys h-here?" Loki asks while her body is shaking scared.
"You believe there is any sense of familiarity with us after what one of your brats did?" Polemos asks while static begins to dance around his shoulders and down to his arms. "well? Do you?"
"I-I-I'm sorry~!" Loki went and did a dogeza. "Oh great and mighty Kaisers of the Kaiser Familia, please pardon this foolish jester named Loki~!"
"And you too, stuck-up brat." Polemos looks at Finn who tensed up. "You think you can stick your head up high after how your fame had fallen?" he smirks a bit. "Get down beside your stupid goddess."
"Y-Yes…" Finn muttered before slowly going down to his knees and placing his head down.
"Captain!" Tione cried out, pissed that her beloved captain was doing a dogeza but a glare from Zagreus instantly made her freeze in place. "ugh!?"
"Tione?" Tiona looks at her sister before she and the rest of the Familia gasps in shock because Tione suddenly turned into stone. "W-What the!?"
"S-She turned to stone!?" Raul cried out.
"Anyone else wants to give out a retort?" Polemos asks while raising his right fist that is charging up electricity. "because unlike with Zagreus silencing that amazon slut, I got dibs to do the next one."
This made many of the lower ranked Loki Familia's adventurers to become scared as they knew that the Arc Kaiser's power delivers instant death unlike the other Kaisers.
"Enough." Zagreus spoke out as he glare down at Finn and Loki. "Let the trash live until they fulfilled their purpose, Polemos."
Polemos glances at Zagreus for a moment before he looks back at the Loki Familia and did a scoff while lowering his electric coated fist.
"You and the rest of your Familia will do an expedition to the Dungeon's 60th – 70th floors." Zagreus spoke out as his eyes glows menacing under his helmet's visor. "We have found clues that Dionysus and his Evilus remnants are lurking within. You all will travel there and lure them out."
"B-But we have never ventured that far!" Loki cried out. "I mean, we managed to get to the 59th floor and!"
"And what? Complain even more?" Polemos spoke as he crouched while grabbing hold of Loki's head and began gripping it hard. "This ain't a request, clown. This is a demand that you and the rest of your brats will fulfill no matter what."
"W-We can't…we don't have the resources and…our numbers…" Finn tried to plead with the Kaisers as the pallum knows that an expedition into the Dungeon without the proper equipment would lead to imminent death to any unprepared adventurers.
"You will do as we say, Pallum." Zagreus spoke before he raised his right hand and did a loud finger snap that created dozens of black portals in the air from which people came falling out. "And your numbers will suffice this expedition. End of story."
The rest of the Loki Familia members looked surprised to the people who had fallen out of the portals as they were all the former members of the Familia who had left after getting scared by the Kaisers. Some had gone to their hometowns and villages while some had left to join new Familias.
"Whether you brats go out of Orario or change your affiliations to another Familia, won't ever clean the sins that you have on your bodies." Polemos spoke as he crossed his arms on his chest. "once you become a part of this clown's Familia, your fate is sealed by us."
"That's not fair!" Tiona cried out. "Leave the others out of this! They're scared and!"
Tiona was cut off mid sentence when Zagreus suddenly appears before her and delivered a powerful punch to her gut that made the amazon hunker forward while vomiting out blood and saliva.
"Tiona-san!" Raul exclaimed in shock while Annakitty gasped.
"Hey, that was mine to silence." Polemos spoke in a slightly irritated tone as Zagreus pushes Tiona and let her fall unconscious to the ground.
"Trash like them have their worth, and her worth is be a meat shield for the rest of her maggot friends before they die in the Dungeon." Zagreus said as he turns and looks at Polemos. "That is all."
Polemos raises an eyebrow at Zagreus before he shrugs his shoulders and looks away.
"Your Familia will venture the Dungeon and lure out Evilus." Zagreus spoke as he turned and began walking away. "the Kaiser Familia will provide the necessities needed for the expedition." He snaps his fingers and a large portal appeared nearby then floats away to reveal large crates filled with money, food, potions, and etc. "End of story."
"Try to use them well before you die, maggots." Polemos added in.
"W-Wait!" Gareth cried out as Zagreus stops and turns to look at the dwarf. "I-If we do this e-expedition into the Dungeon and lure out Evilus….what do we do next?"
"You do like what any adventurers do." Zagreus spoke before he turns his head away. "Fight the Monsters to live or die and be eaten by the Dungeon."
This got many to look scared and nervous because Zagreus is saying that they do it to get themselves killed in the end.
"You bastard! You think you can do whatever you want with us!?" Bete shouted, the werewolf pissed and frustrated. "just because your Familia got popular with the people in this city, doesn't mean that you can just order us around, damnit!"
"Bete! Stop!" Gareth exclaimed, trying his best to protect another one of his comrades from getting injured.
"Too little too late, Gareth." Polemos spoke as he points a finger at Bete and a lightning bolt flashes before electrocuting the werewolf on the spot.
Bete didn't get a chance to scream in pain because the lightning bolt came and disappeared in just a second. The werewolf smoked as he falls to the ground the next second.
"Who else would like to give a rebuttal to us?" Zagreus asks as he turns around to face the rest of the Loki Familia. He raises his right hand and in his palm appeared a swirl of dark mist that formed a black orb. "We will do you a favor and end your life before the Dungeon can."
Now everyone is scared in the Loki Familia, some cried in fear and some looked like they want to kill themselves to escape the Kaisers.
As Zagreus waited for whoever dared to raise their voice against him and Polemos, Riveria went and stood in front of her Familia.
Riveria had a sad expression on her face as she looked at the Kaisers before she closed her eyes and slowly leaned down.
Zagreus and Polemos watched her then they made small surprise noises when Riveria went and did a dogeza to them. Something that no high elf would ever do.
"R-Riveria-sama!?" Alicia gasps as many other elves look shocked at what their elven princess is doing.
"Please, Zagreus Kaiser-sama and Polemos Kaiser-sama. Please provide us time to prepare for your demanded expedition." Riveria spoke in a humble and pleading voice. "The Loki Familia is in a poor state and we require time to prepare. Please provide us time to prepare. I beg of you."
Seeing her dogeza and hearing her plea just surprised everyone, even Zagreus and Polemos.
"to think that the stuck up elven princess would go this low for the Familia that is ruining her prestige…" Polemos spoke before he scoffed and looked away. "now my mood to kill them is gone."
Zagreus stares down at Riveria's dogeza as the Bloody Kaiser went silent.
'She did her best to keep her promise to you, Zagreus. You must do the same..'
A gentle feminine voice spoke in Zagreus' mind as the Bloody Kaiser slowly lowers his hand while the black orb dissipates from his palm.
"2 weeks." Zagreus spoke as he slowly turns around. "I shall allow only 2 weeks for your Familia to prepare for the expedition. No more." He takes a few steps forward and stops. "Do what is necessary to prepare for it. The Kaiser Familia will allow several commodities to be provided by stores and shops in Orario. That is all." He turns his head and glances at Riveria. "understood?"
"I thank you for your kindness." Riveria replies while nodding as Zagreus looks at her before he turns and begins walking away.
Polemos looks at Zagreus before at Riveria as he scoffs at her then followed his brother, both Kaisers disappearing in a black and red flash in the next second.
When the Kaisers disappeared, Tione's petrification disappeared and the Jormugand fell to the ground unconscious.
"Tione-san!" Raul cried out as he and other members tended to their injured comrades.
"Riveria-sama, you.." Lefiya whispers as she and the rest look at Riveria who picked herself up. "why?"
The high elf princess didn't speak for a moment before she turns and faces them.
"Begin to load out the commodities that the Kaisers have provided for us." Riveria spoke as she turned to look at the crates. "We begin preparation for the expedition in the afternoon." She then begins walking away. "use the potions we received for Bete and the others."
Riveria walks away as Lefiya and the others look at her worried, believing that the Nine Hells is suffering too much and burdening herself after the night she was returned by Zagreus.
Meanwhile, back at the Heart Mansion.
Bell is found doing the laundry outside his Home as he grabs a white blanket sheet and then spreads it to the rack to let it dry in the sunlight. He keeps on doing this laundry, not knowing that he is being watched by Melinoe who sat on the roof of the mansion.
Melinoe watches her nephew do the laundry while lazing around a bit.
"Seeing him do the laundry reminds me too much of how Meteria did so in the past…" Melinoe whispers as she watches how Bell hanged up a pair of pants to dry alongside the white sheets. She sighs and smiles a bit. "I guess Bell can be like in the whole Like Father and Son along with Like Mother and Son, huh?"
Melinoe keeps on watching over her nephew before she feels a presence and slowly turns to the front gate of the Hearth Mansion. The Blade Kaiser keened her eye and she soon looks incredibly angered as she sees that the presence by the gate is Aiz.
"that brat…" Melinoe growls as she cracked her right hand's fingers a few times before disappearing in a red flash.
Aiz stood in front of the Hearth Mansion's front gate, the Sword Princess looking a bit weary and guilty looking.
'I didn't mean to hurt him….i just…' Aiz thought as she remembered the tearful and broken-hearted look that Bell had when she revealed of her real intention when she offered to train him months back. She frowns sadly. 'I have to apologize…I have to…'
Aiz was about to ring the gate to call for someone to open it and allow her to meet Bell, but Melinoe appears and then slaps her right cheek hard.
"ugh!" Aiz fell to the ground as she held a hand to her slapped cheek before looking at Melinoe who is glaring at her. "M-Melinoe Kaiser?"
"Leave." Melinoe spoke in a very rough and harsh tone while still glaring angrily at Aiz. "you come here again, and I'll kill you on the spot, brat."
"B-But i.." Aiz spoke out in trying to plead with the Blade Kaiser but just as she tried to get up, a hard kick to her gut was delivered by Melinoe. "ugh!?"
"I said leave. did I say that you could speak to me, trash?" Melinoe asks as she grabs Aiz by the top of her head, gripping her blonde hair. "If you don't get out of my sight in the next three seconds, I'll send you back to your Familia in pieces." She then threw Aiz away. "now scram, brat!"
Aiz grunted in pain as she gets up and looks at Melinoe while holding a hand to her kicked stomach. She still wanted to apologize to Bell but with the Blade Kaiser protecting the area and hating her, she believes she should try another time.
Melinoe watches Aiz leave as she glares hatefully at the Sword Princess.
"She tried to go to Bell?" a voice asks as Melinoe glances to the side and sees Makaria along with Ploutos slowly descending from the air and then landing beside the Blade Kaiser. "What you think she was up to this time?"
"I don't care, what I only care is that if she tries to go near Bell again. I'll kill her." Melinoe replied as she raised her right hand and formed a hard clenched fist with it. "That is all that matters now."
"Yeah." Ploutos nodded before crossing his arms on his chest and then glancing at the Hearth Mansion. "Wanna make a barrier that repels anyone from the Loki Familia and that slut's Familia from ever coming near here?"
"Make it happen." Melinoe said before she turns and summons her Armor on. "I'm going to go and meet with Ouranos."
"For what?" Makaria asks.
"to find a way to get rid of the rats and maggots in the city by any means necessary." Melinoe replies as she spreads her metal wings before she flies into the air and then zooms away.
"She's showing her hatred too much, ain't she?" Ploutos asks while creating several magic runes floating in the air with just a few twists and turns of a finger.
"She's always like that when a family member is in danger." Makaria replied while doing the same thing as Ploutos. "especially when it's a child's life at stake."
As the two Kaisers create the floating magic runes, a transparent white magic barrier started to rise and form all around the Hearth Mansion's area. The barrier enveloped the Home before disappearing in a second.
At the Underworld Castle, Thalia is with Shakti in the Lounging room. The Saint Kaiser and the Brave Kaiser sat near the fireplace and are having tea served by a Skeletal Servant.
"Shakti, we will be giving you several missions for you to complete in the start of your day as the Brave Kaiser of the Kaiser Familia." Thalia spoke while holding a cup of tea on her lap. "Most are just random scouting patrols to several designated areas, nothing too major."
"yes." Shakti nodded before seeing a Skeletal Servant coming near while carrying a silver briefcase which was presented to her. "this is?"
"Some Items that you may need over the time of your missions." Thalia replied as the briefcase was opened and the contents inside ranged from two metal rods, a silverish metal belt with falcon shaped head buckle, two holsters, and a small brown leather pouch bag. "each and every item inside the briefcase were handmade by Brother Ploutos and Makaria with functions specifically made for you."
Shakti takes the briefcase and picks out one of the metal rods in her hand, the object seemingly harmless that was until she gripped it and the blade of a sword extended out of one of the end.
"What you are holding is one of the two Senju Arms that Brother Ploutos forged for you." Thalia explained to Shakti who sees the metal rod retracting the blade before becoming a spear and then a metal flail before a shield. "a Weapon capable of becoming whatever you wish it to become. All that is required is for you to imagine the weapon you require, and the Senju Arms will become it."
"and this pouch?" Shakti asks while putting the Senju Arm in the briefcase and then pulling out the small pouch bag.
"Item Bag, a magic item that is able to store hundreds to thousands items inside it." Thalia replied as Shakti opens the pouch and inserts her hand inside before pulling out a high grade potion vial. "Makaria had personally enchanted its use for you only and to allow an ease of access to the contents inside, you merely need to think of the item that is needed, that is all." She sips her tea and sighs. "put them on and see if they fit."
"Yes." Shakti nods before she begins to equip the belt around her waist and then placed the Senju Arms in the holsters along with the Item bag that is attached by her back.
"They look good on you." Thalia said before she snaps her fingers and Shakti's usual orange uniform changes color into black and orange. "But a more fitting color change is needed."
As Shakti looks at her new appearance, Zagreus and Polemos came walking in from one of the many doorways.
"Took you two long enough." Thalia spoke while turning towards the two. "well? Is the bait prepared?"
"in 2 weeks." Polemos replied while Zagreus went and sat by the round table in the center of the Lounging room. The Arc Kaiser crosses his arms on his chest before glancing towards the Bloody Kaiser's direction. "had to give those runts some time after what that stuck up elf princess did."
"And what did she did?" Thalia replied, curious.
"See for yourself." Polemos said as his eyes glows yellow while Thalia's eyes glows blue under her blindfold.
Both Kaisers' eyes glow for a moment before they went dim.
"I see.." Thalia spoke before she scoffed. "how the mighty have fallen, is it?" she then looks at where Zagreus is. "But considering what she did, I guess even you two had to show some mercy, huh?"
"can you blame us after seeing what that elf did?" Polemos replied while shrugging his shoulders.
While the Arc and the Saint Kaiser conversed, Zagreus remains seated by the round table in silence. The Bloody Kaiser leaning his head to the side and onto his fist.
'I promise you that Orario will be safe until you return, I vow with my life.'
Riveria's voice echoes in Zagreus' mind as the Kaiser had a flashback of the past, at the time when he and his siblings were about to leave Orario.
Zagreus hears the voice and his eyes slowly glow bright under the visor of his helmet.
'You speak of promises even though you broke it…' Zagreus clenches his left hand into a fist, the Kaiser having a tense position. 'Meteria could forgive you so easily..but not me. No matter what we once had, your sadness is your karma.' he sits straight while looking down at his right hand. 'but…'
"Zagreus" Polemos calls out to the Bloody Kaiser who turns his head to see the Arc Kaiser, the Saint Kaiser, and the Brave Kaiser coming near. "the plan to bait Evilus' remnants to come out is still on hold, what should be done next?"
Zagreus looks at them for a moment before he slowly gets off his seat and then faces his back to them.
"Thalia, you and Makaria will be doing the missions that we had assigned to Shakti Varma." Zagreus spoke out as his helmet detached from his head. "There is a task more fitting for her."
"And that is?" Thalia asks.
Zagreus turns and looks at Shakti, his eyes glows as he sees a blueish white aura surrounding the Brave Kaiser's body.
"Shakti Varma, what are your thoughts on my son; Bell Cranel?" Zagreus asks and Shakti made a small confused noise in response.
