"Okay turn right up there onto that dirt road." The hours in the car were finally getting to Lexa, and she was glad they almost reached their destination. She sat up in her seat, and ran her fingers through her hair, trying to restore some order to it. Figuring it was as good as it was going to get, she pulled out her compact, to reapply her lipstick. Flipping her compact closed she slipped it into her purse, and started focusing on straitening out her clothes. This was the first time she was going to see both of the Chadwick's since their last get-together three years ago, and she was nervous. But at least no one else knows will know, smirked Lexa as she leaned back in her seat.

"It's okay Lexa, there is nothing to be nervous about," stated Jesse as he turned the jeep onto the dirt road. "They love you." and thinking of her last minute as he saw her fingers once again run through her hair added, "and you look beautiful."

Upon hearing Jesse's comment Lexa's mouth dropped open and her eyes widened in shock. Quickly recovering herself, she turned to him. "I know that. And I am not nervous"

"Whatever Lexa" the blond responded a huge smile on his face. "but you now…"

Whatever he was going to say was cut off, as the jeep cleared the forest, and they were rewarded with their first view of the ranch. Stopping the jeep, on the hill, Jesse put it in park and got out.

"Oh my god. Isn't that gorgeous?" An awed Lexa breathed as she joined Jesse on the hood of the jeep.

The Chadwick ranch lay nestled in the center of the valley. A river ran through, glinting silver in the early evening sunlight. Horses grazed in the pastures surrounding the stable area, and the main house was encircled by beds and beds of rich, wildly colored flowers. All of this was enhanced by a stunning backdrop of snow capped mountains, and thick, green forests.

The two sat there for a few minutes, soaking up the beauty laid before them like a banquet, before Jesse turned to get in the car. Taking Lexa's hand in his, he brought it up to his lips, placing a soft kiss on it.

"Time to go," Jesse whispered to a pair of surprised blue eyes, as he dropped her hand and headed to his door.

Silently Lexa fallowed, trying to ignore the sensation shooting up her arm, steaming from where Jesse had kissed her hand. Who would have guessed it, the brunette mused to herself, wonder boy has some good moves. Really good moves, she corrected as she sat in her seat, hand still tingling and the jeep headed off towards the house.

Brennen dropped onto his bed like a rock. He and Shalimar had just gotten back from Dr. Owens lab, after spending over 15 hours there. The three of them had gone over every piece of Information the could find on Cladosporium. They went through sanctuary's records, Adams medical records and personal log. They also searched through Genomax records, all the medical files the Dominion had sent Lexa before she had left, and the few notes that had been rescued from the original doctors. Brennen was not to sure if any real progress had been made today, but Dr. Owen seemed happy.

It always surprised Brennen to see Shalimar working on a mission like this. Sometimes it was easy to forget that the powerful feral was a very intelligent women. Looking at her he was often blinded by her beauty. Then out in the field she was a magnificent warrior, unlike anything he had ever seen before. And then the rest of the time she was this loving, caring, funny, playful, sexy woman. Groaning in frustration at his body's unruly reaction to simply they though of Shal, Brennen rolled over onto his stomach, burying his face into hi pillow. Thinking about Shalimar like this was never a good idea. It just made him wish for something he could never have. Shalimar was the kind of girl who deserved everything she had ever dreamed about, he thought to himself. She deserves a loving husband and children, someone to share her life with, someone who was worthy of her. Thinking back to his years as a thief before joining Mutant X, Brennen wished fiercely that he could be that man. But she deserved a better man than he.

Promising himself that he would only allow himself to feel friendly feelings towards Brennen let the exhaustion pull him into a deep sleep. And as he sleep he dreamt of a beautiful blond haired women waiting for him at the door to their house.

Jesse pulled the jeep up beside an old pickup, and cut the engine. Turning in his seat, he faced his team member. "All ready Lexa?"

The brunette nodded her head. "Remember what I told you on the plane. We worked together a couple times, and became good friends. You're getting over a tough break up so I though sometime away would be good for you."

"Yeah, yeah, I know Lexa. I am also suppose to seduce Michael Gray's old girlfriend, whoever she is, and get the formula. Don't worry Lexa, it's a piece of cake." replied Jesse with a wolfish expression. "She will be putty in my hands"

Lexa responded to Jesse's cocky statement with a cool look, trying to ignore the little tinge of jealousy she had felt when he had talked about seducing another women. Before she had a chance to comment on of smug statement, she was interrupted by the sound of running feet and a familiar voice calling her name.

"Lexa! Lexa!" A little girl, about three years old, came tearing around the pick-up truck, as fast as her chubby little legs could carry her. She had dark brown curly hair, tied up in pink tails, show casing a round little face, with round pink cheeks, a button cute nose, and a pair of familiar, deep, wide, blue eyes. Jesse's smile froze as the little girl threw herself into Lexa's waiting arms.

"Oh look at how big you have gotten. Let me look at you for a minute!" Placing the little girl back on the ground, Lexa turned the little girl around in circles appropriately ohhing and awwing as the purple dress swirled around knobby little knees." You are so beautiful. I better look out or you're going to start stealing all my boyfriends!" she teased, pulling on one of the purple ribbon tipped pink tails.

Now that he had time, to get over his initial shock, he could see the differences in them. The little girl's hair was a few shades lighter, and the face bones were rounder. Then there were the eyes that had so shocked him just moments before. He had though that they were just like Lexa's, but now, looking directly into them, he could see that they were too dark to be exactly like Lexa's. They were, however exactly like Leo's.

Realizing that the little girl was looking over her shoulder, Lexa straightened remembering Jesse. Turning she introduced the two, "Mindy, this is my friend Jesse. Jess, this is Melinda. My niece."

Kneeling in front of Melinda he smiled at her, holding out his hand. Shyly she placed her little one into his, and looked up at him trying, it seemed to Jesse, to look into his soul. After a few second of this intense scrutiny Mindy's eyes brightened and a heartbreaking smile crossed her face. It was at that moment, just before the little girl put her arms around the molecular, that for the first time in his life, Jesse Kilmartin fell head over heels in love.
