Axel's first trip to Neverland with Roxas would be one he would never forget. They arrived, and Roxas began to make small conversation. "Feels like it's been forever."
"Since what?" Axel asked.
"Since we got to talk like this," Roxas explained.
"Has it been that long? Time sure flies. Speaking of which... Isn't this the place?" Axel commented.
"Oh, yeah, this is it! Here, just watch!" Roxas stretched on his tip-toes several times, but other than that, nothing happened.
"Uhh, what are you doing, Roxas?" Axel wondered, slightly concerned for his friend's sanity.
"Huh... That's so weird. I could fly before. I guess I must need that sparkly dust for it to work," Roxas sighed.
Axel was about to question what kind of "sparkly dust" Roxas had been on to make him think he could fly when they heard a voice from afar. "Blast it all! Not again!?"
Roxas and Axel turned to see Captain Hook and Mr. Smee facing a Turquoise March Heartless. "Huh?" Axle gasped.
"I know that voice..." Roxas realized.
"You dig and dig, and all I get is more Heartless. They're taking up too much of me time! We need to find that treasure before someone else does," Captain Hook ranted as a dark aura surrounded him. "Why it... it makes me blood boil!" He turned to walk away, and Smee chased after him.
"Captain!? Where are you going, Captain?" Smee questioned.
"Back to the ship! I'll blast these scurvy meddlers into oblivion! Then maybe I can get back to having you dig in peace," Captain Hook snapped.
"If you say so, Captain!" Mr. Smee replied. The duo ran away as the Heartless chased after them.
"What's their story?" Axel wondered, having forgotten about Roxas's talk of "sparkly dust."
"Not sure, but they mentioned something about treasure maps last time," Roxas recalled.
"So what, they're digging for buried gold? From the looks of it, all they're digging up is trouble," Axel remarked.
"Yeah. For some reason, Heartless spring up wherever they dig," Roxas explained.
"You mean Heartless are hiding in the ground?" Axel summarized.
"I'm not so sure that's it," Roxas mused.
"You got a better explanation?" Axel asked.
"Look, I'm just saying. All I saw in the hole they dug was a wooden chest full of junk," Roxas added.
"And the Heartless were in the chest?" Axel wondered.
"I dunno. I think maybe something else is causing them to show up," Roxas sighed. He was growing tired of Axel jumping to conclusions.
"Like?" Axel inquired.
"Didn't something seem kind of off to you about the guy in red?" Roxas tried.
Axel crossed his arms in thought. "Off? Off how?" He uncrossed his arms. "Well... right now we're just guessing. Let's start by checking the places they dug up. Who knows? Maybe we'll find our targets down there taking a nap."
"Yeah. Stranger things have happened," Roxas agreed.
When they approached the chest, they saw the fairy, Tinkerbell. "Oh! Um... hello... again," Roxas greeted. The fairy made faces, and her glow turned red as she waved her arms around in frustration. "W-what? Are you mad at me?"
Axel didn't know who the fairy was or why she was mad at Roxas, but he knew Roxas must have seriously pushed the wrong buttons.
"Oh, because I didn't follow you to the ship before," Roxas realized. The fairy nodded.
"Hey, Roxas... Who have we got here?" Axel questioned.
Tinkerbell hid behind Roxas as she noticed Axel's presence.
"I'm not sure, but we met the last time I was here. I don't think she means any harm. She's the one who helped me fly," Roxas explained.
As he looked at the flying girl, he became more open to the possibility that Roxas had actually flown but was still not entirely convinced. "Yeah, I already saw your demonstration."
"It's true!" Roxas exclaimed. He turned to Tinkerbell. "Here, help me show him. Could you give us some more of that glowing stuff?"
Tinkerbell thought it over before giving Roxas and Axel pixie dust. In the blink of an eye, Roxas was hovering one foot in the air. "Wha-!?" Axel gasped.
"See? I told you!" Roxas reminded.
"How are you doing that?" Axel was beginning to worry that they were both hallucinating.
"I can't really describe it. Once she sprinkles you, just think, "I can fly," and boom!" Roxas said.
""I can fly," and boom, huh?" Axel repeated in disbelief.
"Look, just give it a try," Roxas urged.
"All right..." Axel sighed. He began to close his eyes and stretch on his tip-toes, but no flying occurred. "I'm not feeling it, Roxas."
"C'mon, try again. Believe me on this, Axel!" Roxas could tell Axel would need more encouragement and began singing to him as he floated in the air.
Roxas: Life's been so unsatisfying
Look, suddenly now I'm flying
Freewheeling from cloud to cloud to cloud
Roxas disappeared into a cloud before coming out to the other side.
Roxas: Wings spread, and the sky below me
There's no one to stop or slow me
Pure freedom and everything's allowed
Roxas passed over Axel as he continued to sing.
Roxas: Down there
I know there's tons of burdens we must bear
Somewhere
Roxas rose further into the sky, though not so high that Axel couldn't hear his voice carry.
Roxas: But from up here
The world looks so small
And suddenly, life seems so clear
And from up here
You coast past it all
The obstacles just disappear
You never feel heavy or earthbound
No worries or doubts interfere
Roxas swooped down to hover next to Axel.
Roxas: There's nothing but you looking down on the view from up here
"Come on! Give it a try, Axel," Roxas urged.
"I don't know, Roxas. Maybe I'm just not meant to fly," Axel sighed.
"Just believe, Axel," Roxas encouraged.
Roxas: Stretch out with the wind behind you
Axel closed his eyes in preparation to try again.
Axel: Here we go
Roxas: Float up, let the current find you
Axel opened his eyes and found that he was hovering in the air.
Axel: Look out below
Roxas: Keep climbing, and sail from breeze to breeze
Roxas tried to go higher, but Axel grabbed his arm and dragged Roxas down slightly.
Axel: Stay close, don't leave me, please
Roxas guided Axel up higher into the sky.
Roxas: Head up to the stratospheres
With only the stars to steer us
Just think of the possibilities
Axel carefully let go of Roxas's hand and found he could fly just fine on his own. "I think I've got it."
Roxas flew in several patterns in the sky.
Roxas: Below, we spend our whole life trudging to and fro
Now
"Whoa!" Axel exclaimed, impressed by Axel's flying. Axel and Roxas began flying together side by side while singing with glee.
Roxas and Axel: And from up here
The world is all yours
Each mountain and meadow and mere
And from up here
Life's duties and chores
Are barely worth shedding a tear
And all of the sky lies before us
Straight up to the far stratosphere
So head for the blue, and let's take in the view from up here
It's just me and you
Looking down at the view from up here
