Ch 2- The First Disciple
{Greetings from beyond the screen my fellow readers writers, Draco, Slifter and Rex here with a new chapter with a few things;
1st: I'm about to go into work and I'm on a time crunch.
2nd: This one alludes to two Lemons working on the second.
3rd: Work is a bitch.}
(Danny POV)
It had been a week since the Pariah Dark incident and so far it's been ghost free since. The once haunted Amity Park, Illinois was now an even nicer place to live. Overall the town was not too big but not too small. It was a good town, full of good, honest people. Lush, green farmland to the south, forests to the north and east, and wide open space surrounded the west side of the small city. But it wasn't too isolated. The nearest large city nearby was Midway City, slightly larger than Amity Park and it was a mere 125 miles from Amity Park.
After killing Pariah Dark or rather Zagreus, quite a few things had changed. First off when I showed off my new look to my parents and began to examine me until they decided to take me to the doctor's. After a thorough examination on both sides of the crazy spectrum, I was deemed perfectly healthy and with the research of ectoplasm my new heterochromia was explained. Second I discovered that I was now immune to most physical damage bare a building falling on top of me and I had an increased healing factor to the point I haven't once couched or sneezed. Third, Amity Park was in a decline of ghosts which led me to my current situation.
I was currently flying fast to catch up to Skulker, the Ghost Zone's greatest hunter. Normally, Skulker would be the first to throw a punch or the first missile but he hadn't said two words to his favorite prey.
"Hey, Skulker," I called out, my voice echoing in a commanding tone. "What kind of trouble are you up to tonight? Trying to find your old friend, Delilah? She's still at the zoo!"
Delilah was a rare purple-backed gorilla once mistaken for a male that was at the Amity Park zoo. Skulker had a rather unpleasant experience with that great ape who is now confirmed to be pregnant with her second child.
Luckily for me the hunter took the bait and spun around so fast that I had to skid to a stop in mid-air. He blasted a glowing pink net at me before I could react. I couldn't help but to yelp as I was caught, as I felt I could feel myself getting zapped. I then impacted with one of the nearby roofs but it's not like I felt it in the first place.
"For your information, whelp," Skulker said. "I'm not here to cause any trouble. I'm actually trying to get back to the Ghost Zone."
This caught me off guard and I asked, "What? Why?"
Skulker glanced at me in worry, "Because of you God Slayer and no one wants to get on the bad side of a Demon King. Haven't you noticed that there haven't been that many evil ghosts here in the past few days?"
It was especially true, there weren't that many sentient ghost fights in the past few days but ghost animals would flee once I got within a two mile radius. And with both the still reluctant Sam and Tucker down with the flu and Jazz out of town for college, I had been very bored out of my mind for the past few days.
"Yeah, I have noticed," he said. "I thought it was because you guys had gotten tired of getting your butts handed to you!"
With that, I gathered up a bit of my strength and tore through the net holding me down.
Skulker made no move, not wanting a fight.
"I was only here to see Plasmius," he said. "He owed me an upgrade and he has shut down his portal for maintenance! I had to use your parent's."
This was news to me and I asked, "Maintenance huh?"
Skulker grunts in response before replying, "Yes and after you became a God Slayer we've all decided to lay low and keep out of your hair."
I couldn't help but to cock an eyebrow and ask, "Seriously?"
Skulker nodded and said, "Yes, we all are playing it safe around you! No one wants to get on a Campione' bad side! So until your power stabilizes we've decided to not cause trouble. For now it looks like you get a vacation."
I was speechless, I was exactly used to talking with Skulker so long without fighting, let alone of what was said and it was particularly true that Vlad had been acting strange since the Pariah incident. He had made several generous donations to local charities and even had a new children's hospital built in record time.
"So that's why all of you have been laying low," I say in realization.
Skulker sighed, rolled his eyes and said, "Yes, that's why you clueless idiot but don't get too cozy, child. Your pelt will hang on my wall one day. But for now, I just want to get back home."
I shrugged and said, "Fine." Skulker took off again, apparently the hunter was just as good at being hunted but this didn't last long because I caught him in the blue beam of the Fenton Thermos, "You want to get home? It's only fair I give you a ride!"
Capping the thermos, I turned around to head home and flew off. Phasing into the lab I quickly sent Skulker back into the Ghost Zone before heading back to my room. As I wordlessly phased into my room. I released my shadow before I started to strip. I didn't have to worry about waking up my parents or sister; Jack and Maddie were in D.C. advocating for my financial support and Jazz went back to college.
As it turns out the standard powers of a Divine Beast are actually a more instinctual version of magic.
As for my Authorities; there are the Darkness, the Crown, the Ring, the Beast and the Fruit.
The Darkness allows me to manipulate shadows; whether it's my own or other's. At the moment however I'm really only comfortable with manipulating my own shadow, usually into the shape of a portal to places I've actually been to. The incantation for this authority is: "Come forth shadows within shadows."
The Crown allows me to pull anyone near me into the Tartarus at will, I can even leave them in there if I wanted but whenever I'm in the depths of my realm I can naturally tell where everything is. The incantation for this authority is: "I call on my power as king and claim this land as my domain for it is my divine right!"
The Ring allows me to summon the very skeleton army I fought against. These skeletons all come with their own weapons and some type of armor. Supposedly they are the unrecorded casualties of war. The incantation for this authority is: "Come forth lost soul of war let us do battle and earn your afterlife!"
The Beast allows me to summon monsters straight from hell itself, from fire tigers, to hell hounds and even the likes of chimeras. The incantation for this authority is: "Come to me, oh furious fire! Consuming Flame, lend me a quick, firly beast. Fire of Hell that dispels the dark, may it consume you!"
The Fruit allows me to inject my powers including my Divinity and lesser versions of my other Authorities into another person, the only caveat is that they must be done through the exchange of saliva usually from a kiss. My saliva will gradually turn to the juice of a pomegranate and upon ingesting it a bond is formed. The incantation for this authority is: "Hurry up and swear! Stay by my side no matter what [name]! Even if life is coming to an end, even if the world itself is coming to an end, even if it means battling all the gods, stay by my side forever!"
I finally sigh before falling into my bed and sigh, "So until I get a proper handle on my Authorities the ghost won't be coming around. Whatever, I'll think about it tomorrow."
I sighed again before letting sleep overtake me…
"Oh is the king finally going to sleep?" A familiar sultry voice whispers before my ghost sense goes off and the cover raises.
I watch in awe as a head emerges from the shadow of my cover along with a cyan blue fire coming from on top of a very familiar face with red eyes. It was Ember McLain, she was in my bed in what only seemed like only a shirt.
I scramble back and asked, "Ember what are you do-"
I was cut by a kiss, it was clearly a shut up and listen type of kiss. After a moment she pulls away with a smile on her face.
I whisperly asked, "Ember what's this about?"
She places a finger on my lip, "Babypop I need you to sit there, look cute and listen." She smiles at my nod and continus, "First off I'm sorry about the intrusion but I need some protection." At my frown she continues to explain, "I broke up with Skulker a few months ago, he got a new upgrade to his suit, tried testing by hunting me and I decided to come to you."
I nod at her, "Well I'd be happy to offer some protection but why are you in my bed?"
She smiles at me, "I was hoping to start up a type of friends-with-benefits going on."
I raise an eyebrow, "Really, us as friends with benefits?"
A cyan blush comes over her face, "Why not? I mean you were always a cute teenager, I definitely wouldn't mind popping your cherry and rubbing it in the goth's face. But then you became a very handsome young man and then you became a Godslayer with the body of a Greek God."
"So let me get this straight," I start out. "In terms of this, friends-with-benefits, no commitment, just sex."
Ember nods, "Yeah that's it."
"You do realize some will see this as you buying my protection," I say with a raised eyebrow.
Ember scoffs and says, "Let them. The truth only needs to be known by us."
I chuckle before saying, "You got yourself a deal, McLain."
I then pull her into a kiss.

The next morning Ember and I woke up after a night all fuck session and were about to go at it again when mom and dad came home. We could literally hear them kick the front door open.
I sigh and say, "You should go."
I couldn't help but to hold her a bit tighter.
Ember turns her head back to me with a kiss before phasing out of my hold, "Yeah I should." As she got dressed in her standard outfit Ember looked back at me with concern in her eyes, "By the way Babypop I can feel your ghost core shifting, judging by your lowering temperature I'd guess you'd be developing an ice core."
I hum to myself before saying, "I'll visit the Yetis of Far Frozen and ask if they'd be willing to train me."
She smiles at me, "Oh I'm sure they'd be happy to train Pariah's Bane." There's a moment of silence between us before smirking slyly at me, "I do have to say Babypop you were damn good for your first time."
I smirk at her as she begins to put on her leather pants, "Who said this was my first time?"
That shocks her into looking at me while buckling her pants, "Seriously Who was it?"
My smirk morphs into a grin, "Sorry Firecracker but my lips are sealed."
She smirks devilishly and she tensingly asks, "True but for how long?"
I turn serious and say, "Well you might not get the chance because my parents are about to burst into my room with a sexy topless ghost rocker in my room."
Ember smirks at me before giving me a quick kiss, I couldn't help but barely touch her nipple piercing causing her to moan deeper into the kiss however at the sound of Jack's footsteps thundering up the stairs that she places something in my hand.
"See you around Babypop," She whispers to my ear before disappearing in a cyclone of cyan flames as Jack and Maddie kick open my door.
"Danny-boy, you awake yet," Jack yells as I sit up in my bed.
"Yeah dad I'm awake," I say as I begin to stretch.
(Time Skip)
Unfortunately for me I wasn't able to venture to Far Frozen mainly because Jack and Maddie want me to join in the family business so I pretty much had to be with them for the last two days of the long weekend. Ever since fucking Ember I've noticed that my chest has been pulsing with cold energy. Cold weather never truly bothered me even before I became a halfa.
Now I was walking to school shivering with every step and wearing multiple layers for the winter season.
"I'm just saying Sam, Danny must be doing very well if there hasn't been a single report of ghosts in ten whole days," I could practically hear the grin on Tucker's face. "I guess they realized that none of them were a match for- Danny," Tucker cut himself off with my name.
I looked over my shoulder to see both Sam and Tucker wearing shocked looks on their faces, they rush over.
"Danny are you alright, who did this to you and why are you so cold," Sam asks with borderline panic in her eyes.
"Yeah man are you alright," Tucker asked with almost as much worry. "What led to this?"
"I'm… I'm alright guys… it's just… my… core is freezing," I couldn't lie to them so I told them the truth before sneezing.
"But why Danny… It's like… ninety degrees out here," Sam asked in concern. "We thought you were doing just fine with no ghost around."
"It's… it's… fine guys… you're not to blame," I managed to say while rubbing my arms like crazy. "I… just can't afford to… to miss any sch… school, not this year… not with all of… of the progress… I've made. It won't end… up like last year."
"I guess you have a point but please tell us if there is anything we can do to help. We might not have been on good terms since before the whole Pariahs thing but that doesn't mean we want to see you hurt." Tucker said, putting a hand on my shoulder before quickly pulling it back and shivering himself. "Woah, I heard of ghosts giving you chills but that was ridiculous."
"Speaking of ridiculous, look what they're doing to the local park," Sam said angrily as we walked past the park like we used to do, the only difference was that most of the park was gone, the trees were being torn down and the land bulldozed and a nearby sign indicated that they were clearing the land for a new mall. "There is a perfectly good mall three blocks up the road. Why are they destroying this land for something so meaningless?"
"Come on Sam, it's just a little progress," Tucker said, rolling his eyes.
"Come on, you know that this is pointless, right Danny?" Sam decided to drag me into another one of their arguments.
I couldn't help but smile at the memories, 'Just like old times.'
However, at the feeling of a shiver running down my spine I pull myself to reality, "Sa… Sam, normally I would… agree with you since th… th… this is all just some… easy money scheme… of Vlad's… but I'm just to…too cold."
I glared up and thought about the graffiti I could draw on the billboard, more specifically Vlad's face; a classic handlebar mustache and a speech bubble with silly quotes or draw in his ghost form. After thinking about it for a moment I quickly came to the conclusion that if I drew a line in the sand, Vlad would bulldoze a path in the sand. It was then a puff of golden mist exited my mouth.
"Oh no," I whisper to myself as my eyes wide in horror.
Sam and Tucker's eyes widened as well.
"A ghost?" Sam asks.
"No… not a ghost," I mumbled through my shivers, I recognized the sensation that passed through me. "Something… much… bigger."
Suddenly a bulldozer came flying through the air and landed next to them on the road smashing through several cars before coming to a stop. We turn back to see a large hole in the middle of it as if it had a cannon ball go through it.
Screams of panic came from the other side of the builder's fence as a large tangle of vines shot up towards the sky twisting around themselves until it collected in a mass and formed into something that looked like the upper body of a massing plant bird.
"HADES!!! Your 'progress' has destroyed thousands of my children! Now I will clear you out to make room for my new offspring!" The ghost, no, the god shrieked.
"Yikes, you weren't kidding about the big part," Tucker said in panic.
The plant-like god was over seven stories tall, making even Pariahs look small by comparison.
"Guys… get… out… of… here," I shivered as he ducked under a nearby car and transformed.
As I flew away I heard a scream and moved on instinct to caught a dump truck in one hand before it landed on three construction workers. I was especially amazed at how light it was as I lowered the truck to the ground.
"I get that you're mad but you don't have to hurt people," I shouted up to the plant god.
The plant turned towards me and I could see the empty holes where the eyes would normally be, its eyes sockets widened with surprise before narrowing with rage, "Hades you wish to stop me from planting my children!"
"Hades?" I couldn't help but to question in confusion thinking back to my dream of Pandora and my fight with Zagreus.
"It matter not, I won't be stop!" It shrieked again and vines shot out of the earth and nearly impaled me, luckily I managed to get out of the way at the last second.
"Hey, watch it! You could take someone's eye out with one of those things," I shouted and shot an ecto blast at the vines blowing them to pieces.
"No! My children!" The bird-plant-god shouted and sent more vines shot up out of the earth and I was unfortunately grabbed around the foot by one of them.
"Let… let me g…go!" I said, shivering violently my body started to glow a little blue and the vine around my foot began to freeze. "What th…" I said in surprise but then was caught up in another shiver. "I… I need to finish this fast," I mumbled to myself as I looked around at the city which was quickly being covered in vines.
I charged up a large ecto bolt above my head, it was about half as big as my body. I didn't know where the power for it was coming from. Throwing the blast at the plant god it hit a golden barrier before dissipating into nothing.
"Fuck it's just like with Pariahs," I said anger.
"You cannot kill Undergrowth with such a weak attack Hades, Undergrowth is a god!" The creature screeched at me as if it was laughing.
"You're not the… the first I've dealt with." I said putting his right hand in front of him, "A key to close the box once opened!" The tattoo of the Skeleton Key shined through my Hazmat suit, a light formed in my hand, with a flash of light, the large broad two handed keyblade appeared in my hand, "Take this!" I shouted and swung the sword at Undergrowth, however a golden barrier appeared again and my attack just bounced right off, "Shit!"
Undergrowth lifted up a hand the size of a school bus and swatted at me, I was knocked back through a nearby building.
"You cannot beat Undergrowth with an oversized door key!" The plant shouted.
"Why… why is… isn't it working," I asked, shivering violently. "Don't matter… I still… need to win this," I said as he started flying up.
However I didn't notice the ice that had started to form on my body. I went above Undergrowth and started showering him with ecto-blasts trying to find a weakness in the seemingly impenetrable shield.
"Give it up Hades, you will become my fertilizer!" Undergrowth said before vine shoot large thorns at me, I put up a shield of my own and the needles bounced off of it.
"I'm not going… not going," I stammered but my body was getting colder and colder, I raised my hand to his head to steady myself only to find that my arm was covered in a thin layer of frost. "No… I can't… afford to…" I said but my eyes flickered and I began to fall.
In my mind's eye I could see the image of a circle entering my mind; within the circle is geometrically bitent in the middle of a wreath that connects to the image of cerberus at the base, this is the symbol of Zagreus. Five circles leading off of it with both bone and vines; a reflective black mirror is the Darkness, the burning crown is the Crown, the skull ring is the Ring, the image of cerberus is the Beast and the pomegranate is the Fruit. The image rotated around until 'The Crown' was above the Zagreus' symbol.
"I open a path which leads to damnation," I mumbled as I fell face first towards the ground.
A familiar swirling green vortex appeared on the ground beneath me and I fell straight through it before losing consciousness.
Even as I regained consciousness I couldn't really comprehend what was going on around me. I blinked my eyes in order to wipe away the dream that laid before him. I found myself in a large pod filled with some kind of liquid that tickled my skin. All around the outside of the pod was ice and a few devices that looked like they belonged on Hoth from Return of the Jedi; that movie I used to watch late at night with my family before I was put to bed as a little kid.
But he soon realized that it was not a dream and that I was not alone. The room was full of large hairy white beasts that made my dad look like a runt.
"Oh good lord," I said suddenly wide awake and thrashing about.
"Calm Great One. You have been through quite an ordeal," One of them said, my body was telling me that they were all ghosts.
"I'm… I'm sorry for freaking out there. Wasn't quite awake yet," Danny said, apologizing.
My years of dealing with ghosts had made me aware that almost anything could set one off and that the best thing you can do is apologize even if you don't think you did anything wrong.
"That is completely understandable, Great One. I am Frostbite, the leader of the Yetis of Far Frozen," The ghost said.
He was definitely different from the ones around him. He was slightly bigger and had a crown of gold in the shape of rye on his head. He wore a toga like the others but he also had a royal blue cape. His left arm was missing and in its place was a replica made of ice. Or that's what Danny thought until he noticed that the original bones were this inside of the ice.
"Um… thanks I guess, but if you don't mind me asking… how did I get here, and why am I in a tank?" Then I looked down at myself and noticed something else, "And where are my clothes!?" I didn't try to cover myself, I wasn't exactly ashamed of my body, it's just they've already seen all of me.
Frostbite chuckled at that, "You are in that deicing chamber because we found you on the outskirts of our village completely covered in ice. We don't know how you got there but you are incredibly lucky. We Yetis are the only ones in the entire Ghost Zone that have the technology needed to halt the ice that you were generating from your body. A few more hours and you would have been completely encased in it." He pointed out some scraps of cloth on a nearby table, "As for your garments it seems like the cold was too much for them which have eventually fallen apart, we are having clothes fashioned for you right now that will not have that problem, Great One."
"Um, not to be rude but… why do you keep calling me Great One?" I asked rather uncomfortably.
Frostbite laughed and said with a grin, "Because that is what you are. You are the one who defeated Pariahs Dark in single combat and earned the title of Campione."
I blinked in shock of hearing the word from his dream. Then everything from before he woke up and it all came back to him.
"Oh shit, my town, it was under attack by a god," I couldn't help but say in a panic. "I need to get back, my friends need me," I started to struggle to get out of the pod again.
"Calm yourself Great One. You can't leave just yet. You have no clothes and you need to learn control of your ice powers before you go… but mostly the clothes," Frostbite said, making me calm down. "Good, now that we are waiting, what can you tell me about this god that attacked your city?"
Fighting down the blush I began to explain the events from before I woke up in the pod, in the end I had to ask the question that was worrying me almost as much as my town's safety, "I still don't understand why the Skeleton Key didn't work on this Undergrowth guy, when it unlocked Pariah's Divinity just fine."
Frostbite scratch at his chin, "I am afraid I do not know. You'll have to ask our tribe's priestess on the workings of a Divine Instrument such as the Skeleton Key." Then another of the yeti like ghosts came through the door carrying a stack of clothes, "Ah, you new clothes are finished. We will exit so that you can change."
Frostbite hit a button on his way out, the pod emptied of the strange liquid and it opened with a hissed.
The moment the liquid was gone the deathly chill shot through my body again. I got out of the pod and went to the clothes. I was actually surprised to find that they weren't anything like the simple togas that the Yetis seemed to wear. I put on a skin tight black t-shirt and black jeans as well as a starch white jacket with my symbol on the back. There was even a piece of the right arm of the jacket cut away to show the tattoo of the Skeleton Key.
Walking out of the room he looked at Frostbite, "How fast can we start my… training to control all this ice?" I asked seriously.
Frostbite grinned, showing huge white teeth, "We can start at once, Great One."
Approximately three hours later I was standing with Frostbite at the edge of the tribe's encampment, "Well I wouldn't say that your training is complete… but you at least aren't freezing yourself anymore." Frostbite said looking over his shoulder at the arena that had been completely destroyed, "I had heard of the great power that Campione possessed but I never imagined it would turn a small puff of mist like your ghost sense into a blizzard waiting to happen."
I rubbed the back of his neck, "Sorry about all that."
"No, no, it's quite alright. It is an honor to train a hero like yourself, I just don't think we were prepared," Frostbite said as they made their way towards a large solitary igloo. "Now I will warn you that our priestess has been known to be… difficult to work with."
"I don't have much choice," I said looking at the igloo. "I would do anything to help my friends and family."
Frostbite nodded and stomped his foot in front of the igloo, "Priestess, the Great One wishes to have an audience with you."
"Fine, let him in," A much younger and more tamed voice than I had been expecting came from the opening. "I hope you know what you're doing chieftain, cause this sounds really stupid to me."
We entered the igloo and my eyes widened in surprise. In the middle of the far wall was a deck made of ice and sitting in front of it was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen, better than a hundred Paulinas. She turned to look at us as we entered.
She has violet-blue fox pupils, while beautiful, they sparkled like gems and with the playful glint of a practiced prankster fox however now they seemed to be a bit curious and untrusting as they stared at me. She had slightly pale skin and long silken back length snow white hair tied back into a ponytail with a red ribbon giving her a mystical look. A pair of fox ears rotated in my direction, seemingly to listen to everything I had said and if I had to guess they moved depending on her mood. Around her neck was a necklace with some type of holy symbol engraved inside. She wore a formal, white Japanese kimono, with gold and black trimmings.
"So you are Danny Phantom, the human that became a Divine Beast and then a Demon King. Frostbite puts a lot of faith in you, but he is often naive," The girl said, looking me up and down before giving a shrug.
"Priestess, you shouldn't be so rude," Frostbite said with a slight frown.
The girl scoffed and rolled her eyes, "Whatever, I suppose I should introduce myself. I am Mizore Shirayuki."
"Um… it's nice to meet you," I said, a bit embarrassed. "What were those things you said earlier, I understood being called a Divine Beast but is a Demon King another name for Campione?" Danny asked.
"Yes it is although I suppose you use different words these days," Mizore explained with a shrug. "As for the Demon King that has many names as well; Godslayer, King of Kings, Usurpers of Divinity or the one that is used to their faces usually, Campione." I nodded having heard that before.
"However a Divine Beast has never become a Campione before. You are the first and no one knows exactly what to make of it," She continued, however I knew I just looked confused. "Campiones have always been humans, since only a human can absorb the Authorities of a god after killing them. And Campiones have always been the mortal enemies of both Rouge Gods and Divine Beasts who they have been known to hunt and kill for power or just sport."
"What!? That's awful," I said appalled.
"I am glad to hear that you believe so," Frostbite said, smiling gently.
"But there does exist a stereotype for Campiones that is agreed upon by both the divine beasts and the humans that know about them; they are brutal, self-centered, violent beings and they are also said to be incredibly stupid and careless," Mizore said coldly.
"Priestess… isn't that a little harsh," Frostbite said, wincing along with me.
"I am just being honest. It is said that all Campiones are secretly the children of Pandora and Epimetheus, a powerful witch who unleashed all the world's evils out of curiosity and the god of hindsight who never realized what he was doing until it was too late to stop it. Because no one who isn't a divine level of stupid would challenge a god," Mizore said, looking as if she was laughing at me. "You must be one clueless kid."
"Yeah my friends always keep telling me that, but only recently did I understand what they mean," Danny mumbled, causing Mizore to laugh louder even though her three tails began to wag.
"Well you haven't attacked us yet from my insulting manner so maybe Frostbite was right about you. You were a hero to both worlds long before you became a Demon King. So maybe you're different from the others. At the very least you have yet to kill a Divine Beast when you could find another way, even when they make attempts at your life." Mizore said smiling, "So, what have you come seeking my help with, Godslayer?"
I lifted up my right hand and said softly, "A key to close the box once opened." This caused the keyblade to appear in my hand, "I used this to beat Pariahs but it didn't work when I tried to use it on Undergrowth." He held it out for Mizore but she didn't take it, she only stood up and looked at it closely.
It was then I got a good look at her body; her arms seemed to be covered in a set of mystical tattoos running seamlessly all over her pale skin eventually going up her sleeves, as she leaned over to the keyblade I got a good look at a pair of well-shaped C-cup breasts and it seemed like she also had nice wide hips under her kimono.
"So that's how you did it, interesting. The Skeleton key, which was made by the Ancients and used by Hades to lock away Zagreus before the first spring, it's a very old and powerful Divine Instrument," Mizore said lightly. "But an Instrument that was made with weaknesses to the point where it was almost unusable. In order to be used it would have to be in the hands of a mortal, be supplied with tremendous magical energy and the wielder would need to know an overwhelming amount of information about his opponent. It works by unwinding and incorporating a piece of the god's own Divinity and using it to unlock through the rogue god's natural barrier, like fighting fire with fire. How did you use this against Pariahs? I doubt you knew enough about him to activate its true power."
"It was… Clockwork, he gave me the information I needed. I don't know how, he just put a finger to my forehead and suddenly I knew everything about Pariahs' past," I admitted.
"Teaching magic. He used teaching magic on you to transfer the information," Mizore said while nodding. "Too bad that won't work now."
"Why not? Does no one know who Undergrowth really is?" I ask with a little worry.
"Well no, we've dealt with him before. We know his true identity and I am familiar with the use of teaching magic but we can't use it on you anymore. Campione are immune to almost all forms of magic," Mizore said before turning around and going back to her chair.
That's when I got a good look at her from behind, even through her kimono I could see a perfectly shaped ass with no fewer than three silky fox tails flowing out from under her belt, it was like I could see everything beneath moving enticingly, as if she was trying to taunt or tease me.
I had to keep a poker face as I asked hopefully, "Would it be possible for you to just tell me what I need to know?"
"Sure, do you have about two months to spare?" Mizore scoffed, making me wince, "You should just give up on that city of yours. You don't stand a chance, you haven't even figured out how to use your Authorities yet have you?" My head drooped, then he turned around and started towards the exit, "Where are you going?"
"I'm going to go home," I said softly.
I could feel Mizore's eyes widened slightly, "I told you to give up. Are you seriously so battle hungry that you would go and fight a battle you have no hope of winning?"
"It's not like that," I said angrily, looking back at her with grim determination on my face, causing Mizore to stop her next remark. "I was originally the Protector so I just can't sit by and do nothing while my friends, my family and all of those innocent people are all in danger," I said and continued to walk. "Thank you for everything you've done, but even if it's only a one in a million chance that I will win, it's still worth a try," I can feel an emotion resonating from Mizore due to my words. "Maybe the Skeleton key won't work but there might be another way. Maybe there's something in my parents lab or maybe I could defeat him with my new ice abilities. There has to be another way to defeat a rambunctious god."
"Wait," Mizore said as I was leaving.
"I told you I'm going," I said angrily.
"Going where? You don't even know where you are right now, do you?" Mizore asked skeptically.
"Well… no," I said, flushester as I realized how obvious a mistake that was.
That made Mizore chuckle, "You really are clueless. I will lead you back to your family's portal. I want to see the kind of person that Frostbite has placed his faith in." Frostbite seemed to grin at the fact that I had gained some of the Priestess's approval.
"Tha… Thank you," I said bowing my head in thanks.
Mizore led me back to my family's portal but when they crossed back into the human world, my heart was crushed. The Fenton Works lab was trashed, with the portal being self-sustaining; it was the only thing still running. Each and every beaker was smashed and all the electronics were broken underneath a tangle of vines and flowers.
"No…" I said with a little sorrow in my voice, I had no idea what he would have used from his family's lab, but it still was a spark of hope.
"Looks like we can kiss a modern way of fighting off gods goodbye," Mizore said, examining the Fenton Cramer which had a thorn bush growing out of it. "Looks like Undergrowth was pretty thorough here."
I looked around but not even a single thermos was left unbroken, "Why would he do this?"
"Because we knew you would come back," The voice shocked me out of his trance.
A giant flower burst through the ground in the center of the room and opened up to reveal Sam. She was dressed from head to toe in vines and leaves and her head had two large black leafs that were curled to look like her hair had been done in two spikes.
"You're so predictable Hades," She said but her voice was as unlike her own as the red eyes she was looking at me with.
"Sam… what happened to you?" I asked in horror.
"Every garden needs a caretaker, Hades. Father saw my love for nature and made me the gardener to his children," Sam said, petting a nearby plant which responded to her touch. "So it is my job to protect the garden from weeds like you!"
Vines shot like spears towards me, thinking quickly inl create an ecto-dome around me before generating ice to cover it. Once the vines impacted the ice dome they began to freeze, this caused Sam to wince in plan and I decided to phase into the ground.
I came up behind Sam and I had to try to take her out of it, "Sam please don't do this, we're friends Sam. This isn't who you are."
"Slippery as ever aren't you, Dades?" Sam said, almost laughing, "But you always had your weaknesses. That kind heart of yours."
"Get away from me," I turned my head to see Mizore blowing snow out of her hand that froze some vines that tried to attack her.
"Mizore!" I shouted in concern.
"So what will it be, Danny? Are you going to fight me or are you going to let your new friend die?" Sam said as a vine grabbed Mizore's leg from behind and began to pull her down.
"No!" A wave of ice came from around my feet, shocking Sam and freezing all the plants in the room. Sam screamed from the pain as if she shared with the nearby plants and began to collapse. I caught her as she fell and lowered her gently to the frozen ground, "Sam… I'll rescue you. I promise."
I then turned, flew from the room and out into the street. Even though I hadn't been gone for more than an afternoon the town looked like hell. The people on the streets had vines attached to the backs of their heads and were swinging axes at all man-made structures or planting seeds in the dirt that instantly became trees.
"I see you have returned! Kore was correct in her assumptions!" I watched as vines twisted around themselves to form Undergrowth once again. "But it does not matter, Hades! You cannot defeat me!"
"You… you will not get away with this!" I shouted, as my whole body glowed with a bright golden light. "I will stop you, here and now!"
The Ring rotates into place and I chant, "Come forth lost soul of war let us do battle and earn your afterlife! Restrain those who are not in control of their own bodies and take them away from the field of death."
The ground beneath us begins to turn and a skeleton army begins to rise, my skeleton army. Undergrowth yells out frustration and sends vines to intercept them only for both of us to be shocked at what happens next. As the vines begin to entangle themselves onto the skeletons they turn a light blue before frost begins to form and freeze the plants. They then move the mind controlled people however a fight breaks out between them. Inevitably the skeletons disarm and begin to carry the people toward the edge of town.
"NO!" Undergrowth yells and sends more vines to the skeleton army.
The Beast rotates into place and I chant, "Come to me, oh furious fire! Consuming Flame, lend me a quick, firly beast. Fire of Hell that dispels these pesky weeds and may it consume you!"
One of the skeletons in the back turns back and cuts the ground with its sword, that cut expands into a fissure and a three head dog comes out of the ground and begins to breathe fire onto the plants around him.
"NO!" Undergrowth yells again before turning to me, "It's just like you to send others to do your dirty work Hades."
I fired twin beams of ice at Undergrowth but the shield of his Divinity stopped the attacks but the ice fell and began to hurt the rogue god. I then had to dive left as a large man-eating flytrap tried to eat me. I then had to dodge attacks after attack and freeze the nearby vines as they lashed out at him.
"This has become a war of attrition Undergrowth. Give it up," I said again as I continued to fight.
But I hadn't been expecting Undergrowth to attack me himself. The god's arm stretched out and hit me back down towards his house. I only barely managed to turn intangible before I hit the wall. In the room I staggered to my feet and was about to go back out to keep fighting.
"You won't be able to beat him like that," A familiar voice stops me. "You know that don't you?" It was Mizore.
I stood up tall and shook my head, "I am the only one who can save everyone. I can't let him win." I said.
However Mizore walked in front of me and made me look at her in her mysterious violet-blue eyes.
"I can see what Frostbite saw in you now," Mizore said slowly as a smile broke across her face. "I'm going to use my teaching magic on you to give you the information you need."
I blinked in shock, "I thought you said that magic doesn't work on a Campione."
"It doesn't, not if it has to go through the Godslayer's natural defenses, but it can be injected into them," Mizore said, she was so close to me that he could feel her cool breath on my face.
"What do…" I started to say but she put a finger to my mouth.
"Just make sure you're ready to take responsibility," Mizore teased before moving in closer and planting a kiss on my lips.
My eyes widened with shock as I felt her cold tongue in my mouth. But I could also feel my eyes slowly closing as her magic swept through me, I felt the information enter my head and give me what I needed to continue the fight.
"What is wrong Hades! Are you already finished!" Undergrowth mocked.
A golden light began to shine out of me and through the windows of Fenton Works and I phased out through the walls holding my keyblade in hand, "In ancient Greece they explained the seasons by the Goddess of the harvest and agriculture, Demeter. Demeter and her daughter Persephone roamed the earth encouraging the crops to grow however this all changed when her daughter ventured into the underworld on a whim of her own." I continued to chant even more, "Disheartened at her daughter's disappearance, Demeter neglected her duties causing the plants to wither and the land to become infertile, the passage of winter had arrived."
"What are you trying, Hades?" Undergrowth said and shot thorns at me, I blocked them with another ice cover ecto-dome.
I continued on without hesitation, "With the threat of the lost humanity and the loss of worship Zeus finally stepped in. With the help of Apollo, Demeter found out that her beloved daughter had ventured into the Underworld. And with the help of Hecate, Demeter made her own way into the depths of the Underworld to rescue her beloved Kore."
"What is this?" Undergrowth questions before sending several fly traps towards me. "You speak of a past just looking forgotten."
My keyblade began to change; it became green in color and the teeth of the key bloomed into an itrigetly wrapped tangle of vines, "However Persephone had found the horrors of the Underworld strangely beautiful and refused to leave of her own volition." With a swing of my incomplete blade I sent a wave of ice out, freezing and then shattering the plants, "Eventually an agreement was struck where Persephone would spend half of the year with her mother and the other with his husband Hades."
"No, enough of this Hades, do not make me remember my past," Undergrowth or rather Demeter practically begged as she shook her head and sent vines and fly traps at me.
The guard of my keyblade had become a tangled wreath of flowers moving out before reconnecting at the bottom of the hilt which formed into a pomegranate, "For that is who you are. You are the Goddess of the Harvest, the unacquainted grandmother of Zagreus, the bringer of winter and a true phoenix of the earth. That is what your true name means 'Earth-lover'!"
The teeth of the key reformed as a stook of wheat and I rushed forward again with my newly formed Skeleton Key which was only three feet long and slashed through the golden Divinity that had been protecting Undergrowth.
"What is this… my Divinity!" Demeter moved back in shock.
Undergrowth shrieked in pain before the vines began to retreat inward to reveal a beautiful blonde woman wearing a simple ankle length green dress, it was Demeter in her true form.
"Demeter, I will give you one chance. Call back your plants and never attack people again," I said, pointing my blade at the Goddess.
"I will never stop! Not until Persephone takes your Authorities and recreates my grandson!" She screeched and sent several more vines flying towards me.
"Then you leave me no choice," I said sadly as I pushed my energy into the blade, it glowed a bright blue and green, I slashed the air and sent a trail of the blue and green light towards Demeter, turning her vines into ice. "It was said that when Persephone disappeared into the Underworld Demeter would once again neglect her doubts and bring winter back to the land." I muttered and the frozen Goddess shattered, the plants that had been controlling the humans finally disappeared and I dismissed my summons before flouting back to check on Sam.
"Sam… Sam, please wake up," I said as I held my former friend.
The once regal looking plants weather away, leaving Sam in a green shirt skirted dress made of leaves, a pair of elbow length gloves that are also made of plants, a spiked collar on both her neck and left thigh. Her hair seems to be a complete mess and several inches longer.
"Not so loud Danny," Sam said, starting to wake up. "Where am I and… What are you wearing? Scratch that, what am I wearing!?" She said as she looked down at her leaf and vine costume then she shivered, "What happened here, what's with all the ice?"
"Oh… I kind of freeze you and the entire room to stop some rampaging plant goddess…" I said in a little embarrassment.
"Well it looks like you saved the day," Mizore says as she walks down the stairway. "You still need to learn control of your ice powers though, not to mention you still have to get a proper handle on the Authorities you stole from the gods," She waved a hand and the ice all began to melt before she walked straight past me. "But that is something that the Yetis of Far Frozen will be happy to teach you… that is after everything settles down on this side of the Underworld, " She said with a smile.
I couldn't help but nod at her as she continued to the Ghost Portal.
Sam decided to climbed out of my arms and looked suspiciously the new girl, "Who the fuck are you?"
"I am Mizore Shirayuki and I am a Priestess under the newest of Kings," She says before turning back to us. "And it looks like Demeter pushed her knowledge of magic into you, Priestess of Nature," she smirks at Sam before turning to me. "Here is your victory gift, my King," She said before tossing me a piece of paper. "That will help you keep in contact with me."
With that Mizore leaped back into the portal. Sam turns to me with both anger and suspicion in her eyes.
"Danny, be honest with me, what's your relationship with her?" Sam asks as she grabs a hold of my shoulders.
"Well… it's a bit complicated," I say while rubbing the back of my head.
However Sam growled before seating herself down on my lap, "Tell me that you haven't fucked her."
"Pardon?" Danny asked meekly.
I feel her hands tighten on my shoulders, "Ember was bragging to Kitty on my roof, about getting laid to Phantom."
It was then I knew I was going to pay a price for winning against the gods.
{And that's the chapter let me know what you think.
First off I used Demeter because I liked the concept of Undergrowth, truly thought of Sam as his daughter and wanted a grandchild from a powerful halfa like Danny. Secondly as for why I choose a goddess is because what better way to disguise your true self than to change your gender.
